Find out what gamers are saying about 7 Stories:

This game is nothing great, but we appreciate the small amounts of inspiration it takes from either SaGa or Octopath. One of seven main characters to choose from, and you can freely recruit the other six characters in whatever order you wish, with a maximum of three usable teammates in battle. However, most team comps will probably include Lylia, as shes a very good healer. Trust us, for the final boss, youll want a healer. The battle system is extremely standards turn based RPG fare. Not bad, but basic. The default movement is slow as molasses, but the game world itself is so small, its not too tedious. There are random battles, but the encounter rate is very low, and the exp gain is quite high. The story is minimalistic. Its nothing special, but theres a singular decent plot twist near the end. This game is exceptionally short, beatable in a little over an hour. All in all, this game is nothing special, but its a good palate cleanser after finishing any longer, more involved rpg. We give it a 3.5/5. Round up to 4/5 because Im generous.

We like that it has 7 characters to choose from. Its basically a classic RPG style game. There are townspeople and a world map. Apparently its made using an RPG maker though thats fine with us. Only thing we dont like are the black bars on the screen it should be updated for the latest devices. It would look much better if it didnt have them. We only played a bit so far, and its pretty decent. Update: theres been an update although we still see black bars on the edges of our iPhone 11.

This is the most ridiculous game ever!! There are no instructions on how to play and what you are aiming to get!! All this thing did was move back and forth and side to side!! Glad we didnt pay money for this!!!

This is a very fun game which reflects the creativity and skill of the developer. We also truly enjoyed the sequel to this, 7 Souls. Thanks for the fun!!

Its a fun little game, surprisingly short.

A truly classic RPG, similar to those found on the SNES or even PS1. We love RPGs of this style. This has a good story, great graphics, and a solid fighting system.

You can beat the game in under an hour. Two caves, 2 or 3 towns. Too short for a good rating from us.

We would like to preface this review with the disclaimer that we adore the RPG Maker series of game development software. For those not in the know, RPG Maker is a program that comes in a variety of different instances and generations, each more powerful and feature-packed than the last, which allows users to create their very own Dragon Quest-style RPG with, optionally, no program at all. Each generation comes with pre-loaded sprites, animations, and music, with newer generations including tools to develop ones own sprites and back-end programming utilities should the user desire a more customizable experience. 7 Stories is developed with one of those RPG Maker programs. This itself is forgivable; RPG Maker is a great tool to use to learn the mechanics of game development and design, and if a person is able to monetize the game and their experience of learning a skill, we say all the better. The problem is, in our view and evidently the view of the role-playing game community as a whole, that the program comes replete with so many assets that it actually discourages originality and uniqueness. Because so many of the games made with RPGM utilize the preloaded assets with a minimal amount of customization, they all tend to play the same, look the same, and in the end are entirely forgettable. This is the real problem with 7 Stories: its complete lack of originality. As far as stories go, were presented with a pretty typical and safe RPG storyline: Elderly King of Fantasytown must choose a successor to his throne, here by dispatching seven adventurers on a quest to retrieve four magical orbs. Whomever succeeds in retrieving the orbs will presumably earn the crown. To be fair, the creator did spend a bit of time on their characters, the titular seven different protagonists the player is able to choose to play as. Each has their own style of dialogue and skill set and although there isnt much a light displayed on the personality of the characters more than their objectives for wanting to take the throne, they each feel tangibly different, much more than just a color-swapped stock sprite. The differences in learned skills and attributes allows for some small amount of party customization. Once immersed in combat however, this fails to make much a difference, as the battles are effectively reduced to the rinse-wash-repeat pattern of tap fight/skill, tap the enemy, and wait for the enemy to attack you. The game difficulty scales rapidly and unevenly; the first area has two types of enemy who are easily killed. A battle with these enemies can yield 15-50 exp points depending on the number of enemies fought, with the average earned being about 40. In the second area, the enemies grant roughly double the exp points, but are much harder to kill and will harm you much quicker. In terms of resource management and battle efficacy, it makes more sense to just grind in the first area until strong enough to bypass the second area all together. The setting is dull and boring and is the aspect of the game most obviously hindered by the game-in-a-box approach that so many RPGM developers utilize. There is an overworld map representing forests, plains, mountains, deserts and oceans, with little 2×2 tiles representing towns, castles, dungeons and caves. It is sparse and ugly. (As a side note, why is this type of level design still acceptable in 2018? Just design the level proper, stop being lazy and relying on an overworld map.) Once the player interacts with a 2×2 town tileset theyre transported into the town with scale-appropriate buildings, trees, the occasional townsperson milling about, etc. You know what Im talking about. Youve seen this before. Its nothing new. The dungeon designs arent much better. And thats pretty much the game. With all said, we would rate the game 2/5. Its passable and serves its purpose; we bought it to mindlessly slaughter monsters and to engage in the occasional grindfest while Im waiting for appointments, coffee, etc. And that exactly what we would recommend it for. It also doesnt have a paywall or pester you to upgrade or spend money on in-game resources. That said however, we ultimately had to award the game 1/5 because, and this is an important note, there is a game-breaking bug in the second dungeon. Once you enter the dungeon, for whatever reason you are unable to leave. Attempting to walk out simply transports you back inside. This doesnt appear to be a feature of the level as it continues to do it even after you defeat the boss. Because this bug broke our game and make progress impossible, we have to rate it 1/5. PROS: – Mindless grinding is always fun – Characters feel tangibly different – Party customization – No paywalls or in-game purchases! CONS: – Uninspiring, routine gameplay – Lack of originality in world design, chipsets, animations, or story – Game-breaking bugs disallow the continuation of the story – That overworld map.

Many iPhone games can play quite well on tablets but this is not one of them. Whether you use x1 or X2 display, there are portions of the game screen which are not available. Only half of the action button is viewable, which can still function, but the bag, located at the top right corner is completely missing. So you are unable to access your equipment, stats, inventory at all. This is unfortunate and perhaps they will be able to adjust the resolution in a future update. We knew the risk of buying it so we have no one to blame but myself, but for a standard res RPG, we decided to take a chance. EDIT….. New update was to provide x3.5 resolution for tablets. Unfortunately the update does not work. States that the iPad 4 needs to be updated to most recent version but our iPad 4 has the latest update…

We love the graphics, story and the music of the game. NEED A SAVE IN THE MENU. THANK FOR THE ATTENTION. Keep the good work make a sequel.!!!

This is a pretty good RPG. You basically choose a 3 person party with 7 different lead characters. Only complaint we have is that it could’ve deviated from the SNES game, 7th saga a little more since some things, word for word, are the same, like fighting that bounty hunter, getting orbs to become ruler, or having the cave locked. At least the game is balanced (and you have 3 people in your party you get pretty quickly instead of 2).

Way to short we don’t really feel like we got our money’s worth should have expanded.

A good RPG. But needs more elements, more depth and a bigger world. The dev that put this game together seems to have started on a great idea. It would be nice to see updates to this game with more additions to the story and a bigger world. Update: Thanks for the new update fixing a few bugs and also increasing the size of the D-pad. Now we have to find the new secret area too. :)

Great game, although way too short. But we picked it up for only a dollar, and 3 hours from start to finish was actually perfect for the amount of time we had to play anyway. Great graphics for a handheld, d-pad worked almost flawlessly. Character moves a bit slow though for a short game it’s not a problem.

Overall good game. Great graphics and gameplay. Story is good but overall game is too short. Still looking for the secret dungeon though.

We’ve played 7 Stories before a while ago a little around when it first came out and we were hooked we played it and played it and played it our favorite team of was the high elf pyromancer dude (Great with physical attack in great attack magic )the dark Baron (A tank with spells) and the alchemist(can heal poison inhibit enemy and has awesome attacks as well balanced all around) this team just worked great at slaughtering all of the enemies and keeping them from even laying hand on us…. AnyWho our friend is playing this game now he’s a beginner to it and we don’t have time to just sit with The guy and talk him through it does anyone know if there’s a strategy guide or let’s play videos on YouTube for this game our buddy is stuck please help gamer community like The awesome people you are :) our friend is stuck and we cannot help him it’s all up to you.

We enjoyed the game. Price is appropriate to the game length. Short and sweet with just enough of an Adventure/RPG feel. Nice mix of classes and decent enough storyline to be as unique as it could in a genre with a plethera of games.

Yes, it’s about 2 or 3 hours long, but we enjoyed the brief ride. Good graphics, easy battle system. It’s very basic but polished. We can’t wait to see more from the makers because this was a very fun little game. Our only complaint is with 7 main characters we would like some interaction between them, and character development besides what is written in the game summary. We liked the simplicity of the plot but we would have enjoyed seeing more conflict between the heroes. We did enjoy having that douchebag poison guy finally want to join our green lady :D More dialogue between party members and more plot!

We enjoyed the game, but it got really annoying when we were fighting bosses and it would crash. We would then reload the game only to find that the boss we were halfway through beating was nowhere to be seen as we were either at the beginning of the map to get to him or in the kings case right in front and had to re-fight him again. Fix this please!

Good game but way too short, reminiscent of F.F mystic quest.

As others have said, this game is too short. Also, we found wasted potential in the fact that there was little to no variety in how the seven characters interacted with each other. Otherwise a very fun game.

This game is good but it s campaign is way too short compared to the price. We would $0.99 for this app. We beat it in a day. This app copied a game called Ash, which you would like if you like this app. It even copied some of the drawings in Ash. Good but way to short, too expensive, and it copied a different app.

It introduces all these promising back stories and all we get is a single bland storyline that addresses none of them. Fun enough array of skills to mix and match, albeit offering little variety of enemies. About as poor as RPGs come.

We were super excited about this game and then it ended! Seriously too short and not nearly enough development in the story or characters. We want so much more than 2 hours of play.

This game won’t be worth it even if it were free, first off it’s a cheap rip-off of a SNES game "7th Saga" second, it’s very short. We tried spending some time lvling up and still beat it at lvl 11. I’d suggest catching up on sleep over playing this garbage.

It’s a great game but there are only two towns and 4 or 5 Dungeons so if you like short games its a great game.

We hit the button and it auto payed for it didnt even ask us for our pass word we want our money back.

First there is not even a variety of things you can do nor is there really any variety in game play. Basically when you enter the game there is only 1 way to go 3 or 4 spells max you can use and like 3 bosses total total waste of money spent.

Loved it! Wish it could have been a longer game though.

This is a throwback to Final Fantasy VI and just as fun. Tons of great story, action, and replays!

Technical stuff: – It takes about 5 seconds to startup on our iPod Touch 4g, so it isn’t bad in that respect. -does not have fast app switching support– reloads each time you go out of the app, regardless of multitask. -it does, however, automatically save on a regular basis. -It’s not quite retina display optimized, but the graphics are clean enough so that you hardly notice it (see screenshots). -The D-pad is a tad on the small size. It’s okay for us (i have a small frame/i’m pretty skiny), but it might be harder for others. There is no option to change placement/size of the dpad. -There is a slight pause on your character anytime you press "A". May or may not affect gameplay. Gameplay: -Looks like a your typical JRPG style game. -The premise is also typical JRPG– some king is retiring, so he calls seven heroes to his castle to help find four orbs of power. -There are seven different heroes, each with a different background and personality. You start with one which you choose. -Along your journey, you encounter the other heroes and they each have different things to say to you based on who you are, which is kind of neat. According to in-game dialogue, some of them may join you eventually. -Some pretty good music. Definitely above average. It may even be memorable with time. -There are hidden items -It has a menu battle system like the Final Fantasy games. The menu is on the right-hand side of the screen. Unfortunately, there is no setting to change it to left. There is also no touch/slash control like in Ash, but battles move fast enough. -My character walks just a little too slow for our taste. You might get impatient with it haha. So far, based on the pretty good production values, I’d say it’s worth picking up. The dialogue is solid. The one major flaw of this is that it’s only 3-4 hours to beat :( You can play through again with other characters, but it’s almost the same each time. Still worth a few bucks, though.

This game had a great nostalgic vibe that makes it really enjoyable to play. The Game plays perfectly on our 3GS but our only compliant is the dpad size we wish the option was available to increase the size of it.

We think the previous reviewers said it best and aplenty. This does remind us very much of 7th Saga on the SNES. Controls could use a bit of a tweak, but overall it seems to be a solid addition to the classic RPG dept.

So far im super impressed with this game. However we really think they need to add a mini map that will enlarge if you click on it! Just a minor addition but other then that it seems great so far!

Cute but we wish it a longer story to it…… Not worth the money… Would made more sense if it was free .

The game is ok. The mechanics need balance (Cyrus the dragoons) stun has a 100% chance of happening even on the last boss and for us it only got 2 attacks off (1 because we forgot to use a mana potion). Simple but fun game, needs a lot of updating, mostly In content, we beat the game very fast 3 hours or so, if at that.

Gameplay was excellent and brought back fond memories of the 2D 16 bit genre but beating the game in only 2 days at level 11. Game should only be $0.99 if not free.

It seems most people don’t realize that this game is from an amateur dev team, and was produced with RPG Maker (VX most likely). While short we applaud the makers for being ambitious enough to have seven different characters available from the start. The developers likely spent next to no money to develop it and may not have even legally had a liscense for RPG maker as its rampantly pirated. The bottom line is that they made a half way decent rpg that they are charging only three dollars for.

We enjoyed playing it… And then a day after we bought it we beat it on level 10. Not worth the money.

This game is way too short! We beat it in about 2-3 hours then it’s done. We only got to level 9 and then we beat it. It has a good base line but definitely needs a ton more. More then two towns and the castle plus it was way too easy to get the orbs. (I guess that is why they make you walk so slow.) It was a fun game but we were extremely dissapointed when we saw that it ended so quickly.

This app really stinks, Its just like pokemon.

Graphic : bad but not terrible Interface : bad – no minimap, no enemy’s information Battle : terrible.. Just Numbers no special effect.. OMG Speed : walking speed is too slow.. Price : expensive 1$ is enough Waste of money.

We were hoping for a game like the Zenonia games (which cost $0.99 & are MUCH better than this) but this isn’t anything like it. The graphics aren’t to great & there is no action when the player engages with the enemy. Just a real wast of $2.99!

We were hesitant to get this & for good cause: Way, way to short. Only two towns & a castle. Only 6-7 weapons, 6-7 pieces of armor, & 3 helmets total. No depth or storyline. (Oh no, we need the orbs. Yay, here are the orbs! Done.) Finished the game at level 10. 10! Graphics are ehhh. No world map. (probably because the world is smaller than our house!) Anyone who gave this 5 stars either has not played a real RPG or they are friends with the people who made this waste-of-money game. If you want to spend your $3 on something better than this we suggest you take the money & burn it for heat.

When we leave the place where you get wind orb our game crashes.
