Community Insight:
A no nonsense classic RPG. Pay once and get the whole game, none of that IAP nonsense. Keep making these.
We really love this game is amazing how you explore the world and fight your way out of things if there's a dlc we well pay anything for it.
This game is really good. It has a few small problems that are easy to ignore. We just wish we could zoom in on the world map for a better view. We like the lack of a map in dungeons, makes them difficult. Make another one.
Try it out if you're any level of fantasy rpg fan, you will like it! Just want to see a little animation on the walk/run.
Such an amazing well put together game. Thanks! We hope you are allowed to get rid of some of that negative feedback, some of those reviews are just stupidity. Just curious though how the multiplayer works on the iOS/droid? Is it same WiFi in order to work? Or perhaps just a pc thing? Either way great game. Would love to see a manual though.
Back in the late 80s/early 90s, we loved playing the early CRPGs like Wizardry and Bard's Tale. This game is an old-school throwback that captures the spirit of those games perfectly. The world is massive; the dungeons are sprawling labyrinths; the gameplay is challenging. We cannot say enough good things about this game. Another bonus is that there are no microtransactions and no PTW elements that are characteristic of a lot of modern games. It is awesome.
The game is fabulous. Nice, straight forward, relaxing old school adventuring. Well done. We'd love Mac version of the multiplayer server app (please) and we're not a huge fan of the paper-thin character cut outs (we find it distracting when they turn like a leaf of paper) but that is a minor point. Overall, this game is pure fun.
Top notch app, a few bugs although it's constantly updating with a multiplayer we wouldn't want to miss. Best sequel in the market. AAA.
This is where every single IOS game in the App Store needs to live up to and set their level of standards at. There are no IAP and nothing to purchase to further yourself along! We played the first one, really enjoyed it and decided to give the second one a try! We were struggling to kill a few rats at the beginning of the game, and decided to take a different route. We went back to the shop and sold some of our equipment, so that we could afford a bow for our build (Dex) and went back to find ourselves destroying them all without any problems! PLEASE, developers, keep your level of games to these standards and do not allow yourself to dive into the depths of IAP, etc. Lots of love for y'all.
Awesome game. Extremely underrated.
Easily our favorite game on the market.
There are a many games we buy on iOS because they look cool. Some of those we play for a few minutes and never touch again. Others, we play endlessly, and keep finding more amazing things about them each time we play. This game belongs in that latter category. It is one of the best RPG games on the platform, has hundreds of hours of playability, and continues to get new features. In this version we've found zero bugs.
Needs in cave maps & quest markers.
This game seems underrated and to our surprise has likely gotten much less attention than deserved. The graphics are basic rogue-like rpg graphics and the story is set in an enormous world. The game is designed for exploration and free roaming. Tons of items to find, magic to master, and areas to explore. This is a truly rare gem for those who enjoy old school rpg's. The downside- it feels as though many things, such as crafting, are left unfinished and un-implemented. There are items for crafting… But nothing to do with them. It doesnt seem like there are plans to finally add those things in. Hence… The game feels unfinished.
Here is the deal. If you like old school rpg games, especially with bigger maps and a lot of customization get this game. Ive been playing it nonstop since we bought it 2 weeks ago. We love that there is no iap once you buy the game. The absolutely only reason this didnt get a 5 star rating from us is the mini map system. When your above ground you get a world overview thats grey until you explore it. Awesome. We like it. But as soon as you explore in the caves you get nothing. Like no map whatsoever. This didnt bother us so much at the beginning of the game because you go off your memory and there where only one or two levels and switches to find. Now Ive been stuck for days in a cave with at least 10 different stairs, twice that many switches, gates, moving platforms and cable jumps. And its a huge map on each level. You dont need to let us see the map. Make it blacked out until its explored. But its super difficult to have to activate certain switches on completely opposite sides of a map and not get anything marked in the cave maps. Please fix.
Elder Scrolls + Zelda + Paper Mario (?). The depth of this game is surprising, particularly after looking at the map for the first time. We are hopeful for a 3rd edition with more character development/customization. One thing to be said: The game seems to take time (at least on our iPad mini 1) to get to a stable position. It crashed for the first few minutes of gameplay (probably crashed 5-10 times). We turned off weather and did minor movement outside of the first town for a while, and the crashes have completely ceased. This isn't a solution, but perhaps a workaround until a patch comes out.
In short, this is an old-school RPG mixed with a twin stick shooter. Fun to pick up and play for a bit but ultimately incomplete and missing many quality of life features present in modern games. Pick it up as a time killer but dont expect to finish it.
This game suffers from something most hardcore games suffer from, which is the development staff supports one or two types of gameplay. Clearly the devs favor range and more specifically magic, which is foolish for a game where 1/3 of the game is melee, and some people really enjoy getting into close fights to get more into the battle instead of shooting from nearly off the screen to kill enemies. If you choose melee in this game you will be fleeing constantly or chasing monsters that just move out of your attacks, which take forever to land with melee. Its nearly 1 second to attack with melee weapons which seems quick but is way too long when the devs made the enemies flee from you constantly. Again, it comes back to development bias or preference. Ill roll a range or magic character and will update our review accordingly, but at least two stars get knocked off for poor combat design with close encounters.
This is game is unbalanced. The mage have tons of magic abilities, auto shooting while the archers run out of arrows too fast and no auto shoot. No other class has any special abilities like the mage. Might as well just call it the Mage game.
We heard the game got a update to fix crashes…..we suffered through a lot of crashes and for some reason it runs at a max 21 fps the lowest we got was11 the heck????????? We think you didn't fix it.
We couldn't master the fighting skills, so we died in every encounter. This got tired fast. Otherwise the game looked nice, and might have been satisfying if we could have spun-up faster.
We have an iPad and when we put in a Name it just locks up. Developer does not support.
Sound effects and music dont place. Unable to drop or use items as the interface is glitchy. As a result this game is unfortunately unplayable. Please address or refund.
Seemily random algorithm for jumping. After 15 minutes of attempting to jump across ditches, trying every variable, it got deleted. Enjoy our $1.99 developer.
Countless hours of mind numbing game play. Was fun – this game has a few major glitches – like the one level you get to and the skeleton boss just sits there and never fights you, and you cant fight him, and then your stuck there with no way of getting back out…. Or when youve played long enough to get your character up around level 91 and then the save state corrupts and the game just freezes upon load.
The app crashes after entering your character name and will not run. This is with iOS 10. Would not recommend purchasing it.
Currently, this title crashes after about twenty seconds after launching it on an IPad 2. First game still works fine on the same device. Will re-rate once crashing is dealt with. This one is currently unplayable.
Kept crashing on us plz fix couldn't even play the game.
If you grew up with Diablo, you'll feel at home. Great story, varied quests, addictive balanced game play. In a word: polished. Console sized campaign. Ignore the "This crashes our gameboy 2" reviews, and make sure to have a modern device. Our only complaint, poorly optimized. Goes through 50% of our 6 Plus battery in roughly 1 hour. Underwhelming for a pixel graphics game. Other than that, 5 stars.
On iPad 2 (iOS 9.3.5) this won't even get past the start menu.
We're a couple hours in at this point. So far we love it and it's a lot of fun. Definitely worth the price and more. We wish there was a guide for the various equipment stats and what not but overall amazing.
The game keeps crashing when we load it up or even when we try complete the tutorial. We really liked the last game but this is keeping us from enjoying the second game. Please fix this issue.
Finally able to download game, really fun game, really good RPG so far.
We like the game, it's a fun game combining some really cool features to make it unique. Only played it a bit but have enjoyed it so far. A few issues, the screen doesn't rotate at all, manually or otherwise, only a problem when we want to sit somewhere and charge our iPad and the cord doesn't reach all that well. Also, as someone else mentioned, the game crashed on us when we had a low battery pop up. It does save occasionally on its own, but we lost a bit of progress.
Keyboard does not appear to name character during character creation. CAN NOT even start game. Please fix.
Just purchased this and can't even start a game. The character creation page requires you to enter a name but the iOS 10 keyboard does not launch and it will not let us proceed. We are on an iPhone 6 Plus with iOS 10 and default keyboard.
Please fix. Looks fun but after ten crashes we finally get past character creation and it crashes 30 seconds into the game or less. Every. Time. IPad 2 Reinstalled multiple times and still same problem. Paid $8 for literally nothing. Please fix or refund.
This game is FANTASTIC. A great sequel to Ninth Dawn 1. It's so addictive we can't stop. Huge open world to explore, infinite character customization if you put in the time, and dungeons that are EXPANSIVE. Ninth Dawn 2 has it all: awesome graphics, gameplay, soundtrack, weather effects, sound FX, fun factor, literally everything. Much to our wife's dismay, we'll sit and play this game for hours until our battery hits 20% and it crashes. Is that fixable? Also, we just had a crash that seems to be terminal. Now we can't restart any of our save games without it crashing again, and killing the app and rebooting doesn't help. We hope a forthcoming update fixes this and other crash issues, because this game is SERIOUSLY the best iPhone RPG EVER. We don't want to have to reinstall. Also, some kind of dungeon mapping would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.
Just started yesterday and love it so far, everything is so in depth for customizing/leveling your character. You start as a cookie cutter and grow into how you want him/her to perform, which is how games are meant to be played. A few grammatical errors but it's to be expected, haven't gotten any crashes or noticed any bugs yet but we're only level 18. Great work Valorware, never fails to excel.
For those that love a deep RPG, with personalization, quests, a huge world, multi classing….. This is your game on iOS. Issues that need fixing: personally we feel like a map in dungeons is kind of a necessity, and when trying to listen to music in the background our music turns off every time we move into a new part of the map.
It's been a long time since we played a game that we think about after we're done playing it. There is so much to do and it is so much fun and we had to write this review. The leveling system is flawless the character development is deep yet none of it is difficult. And for the people who are saying that combat is difficult, we felt that way too until we realized we're not supposed to continually press the attack button. Instead you hold the attack button until the crosshairs show and then get the crosshairs on to your target; it couldn't be easier. Worth every penny.
This is the 4th time we've had to write a review for this game (dunno why they keep disappearing) – so we're not going to write it all again – what we will say is that if you enjoyed the first 9th Dawn, you'll more likely than not wind up loving this sequel. If you've never played 9th Dawn, and are a fan of the Ultima series (or open-world RPGs in general) and have no qualms with a game not holding your hand at all, this is a game you should pick up. ASAP. Definitely a contender for GOTY.
Such a huge world. So much to explore. Worth every penny.
Maybe we Am getting old this game seems very hard. It is well executed but one has to have quick hands hard for us to do with this control setup. The rats kill us every time.
Literally a 2d elder scrolls game. The map is gigantic! There's so much to explore, and so many different ways to play the game.
This is a must buy for anyone wanting an open world non linear RPG. It really reminds us of our Ultima Online days. Worth every penny and keeps us from playing our PS4. Seriously.
One dude made this whole thing and it's incredible. We're stoked to play online coop with our friend when it's released.
Great open world RPG. Really improves on the first one. Huge open world.
This game is everything we wanted from the original 9th dawn but just made everything X20!! This game has it all, vast open world for you to get lost in. We swear we've been in the beginning area for like at least 5 hours just exploring and finding curious things. Thats how freaking huge this game is! The surrounding environment will quickly take your attention away from your main quest. Overall it was well worth the money and we can't be any happier that it finaly got released. This is a true gem for all RPG fans out there. If your looking for a game to lose yourself in, this is it you guys pick it up immediately.
If you are looking for a game that encourages you to explore, 9th Dawn II is the game for you. It's has some small quirks, but it's stable enough that you can enjoy it. Don't forget to save often, and be prepared to die.
