Community Insight:

This new trivia game is good, but we dont understand why they didnt just make a new app instead of using the old scategories app. Especially when the reviews of that old game werent all too positive. We also personally much preferred the old game in spite of all its flaws.

We were confused to see this changed app on our phone. The name and look completely. We wonder if the app got int copy right issue with the board game. Can someone answer this? Im sure Im not the only one to realize this.

Hey so we have played this on our moms iPhone and OMG SO ADDICTING!! So this app is like so good and every one should give at least a four star review. ~Maddie.

Super addicting and fun game. The AI behind the scoring can be a little glitchy at times, which sometimes affects the scores and sometimes doesnt. For example, we gave the answer island parrot once, trying to be creative. It changed our answer to the correct spelling for this answer is we-S-L-A-N-D P-A-R-R-O-T but it still gave us points. And sometimes answers that should cancel each other out dont do so because someone put an s at the end or something similar. But otherwise, it is a great game.

Its a great game and super fun! We love all the different game models and play it almost every day. The problem is it has bad glitches occasionally. Ive had it glitch where half of the words just dont appear and we had to end up deleting the app to get it to work. Other than that its great! The ads are minimal.

Love the game and look. But it freezes/stops and scores our answers as misspelled.

We love the game and we have to admit it can be very addicting at times, but we cant get around the fact that we can maybe get 5-6 games in before either the game entirely crashes, the screen freezes, the audio cuts out, gets stuck in a reconnecting loop, or it still puts us through a barrage of ads even though we paid the $3.99 for no ads! Im honestly very disappointed with the game because it has so much potential, but so very many bugs the developers need to work out.

We love scattergories, this app version is so-so. While the gameplay is fun enough and seeing other players advance adds an element of pressure that would typically be supplied by the timer in the physical version of the game, the bugs take all that away. It seems that with every challenge we start, its a 50/50 shot that the round will take our coins but then load indefinitely before getting to the results screen. We can take it if we lose, but the indefinite loading means we never get to see how we stack up, and we lose the coins nonetheless. If you cant build a game that lets you get to see the results and be rewarded, at least make it so you can get your coins back for an incomplete game. Like all apps of this type, it relies on giving us that dopamine boost when we win to get us addicted. So this bug not only ruins the fun of the competition, but also breaks the very way this game gets you to play.

When is the next chapter coming out? Ive waited for years.

This app used to be good, but recently it doesnt work properly. It doesnt show words and in general looks like a dying app.

This game cheats all the time. Like we just did one and it was flowers. Letter j. We wrote jonquil. Correct word, correct spelling. It flagged it as dispute. It flags words all the time that we spelled correctly but it changes the spelling. We still win all the time but it's not fun when the computer cheats.

We would leave a message to support in the app if it would open. We have deleted and reinstalled many times.

Please update your app. We just tried to play and it wouldnt put anything in the blank with the other players.

They want $8 a month to go add free. Maybe a one time payment of $10 but $2 a week is ridiculously expensive for an educational leisure game. We can buy and play the real game for less money with a better scoring system. Plus there is no dice roll simulation they just give you a number. We wanna see that dice tumble if Im paying for it.

Its fun and a great game but the waiting to get more coins is so stupid.

A lot of people have already mentioned most of our concerns. But one thing that made us delete thisapp for the2nd time is that you can just make up answers and they will be accepted. For example, we cannot name any recording labels, so we just make them up and they are always accepted and sometimes deemed rare. Of course they are, because we made them up! Thumbs up for giving us undeserved credit, but the downside is our opponent is doing the same thing.

We enjoy playing this game. Unfortunately, Scattergories is a bit like an old White guy who only interacts socially once a year. Many correct answers are excluded, with culturally White American-centric answers being preferred. The dispute function is disabled so there is no way to notify the company that wed like them to join us in the global 21st century. (This reviewer is a White American.).

Cant stop playing this game- addicted.

Why is plowing not an answer for world records and bots are too fast like chatgpt.

This has the potential to be a really good game but the ads at the end of literally EVERY round is ridiculous!! Also, why give the option to dispute an answer but not actually be able to dispute it?? That makes no sense at all.

If this is any indication of the scope of artificial intelligence, then it is very stupid! FYI, Colorado Id not a city, Nick is not a constellation, etc., etc., on and on. We are really good at the board game version, but thisnot so much. On second thought, we want the job of being a Scattergories judge. Apparently you dont have to know anything.

Very fun and enjoyable game. Correct answers arent always correct.

In the last few days we have noticed that if we choose the Duel option we are more frequently being paired with other players whose profile names are clearly an aggressive, negative and vulgar acronym that reflects their political agenda. Why is this allowed? This should be a neutral atmosphere.

We love this game. It brings back fond memories from when we were a teenager.

Which came first? We dont know. We like this game. We download, delete, download, delete. The problem is same ole words, same ole letters to start lists. We would like some variety.

We were stuck on one and used the help/clue thingy that gives us an answer, and then they said the answer was wrong. Well then why did you give that to us as an answer?! Tried to dispute it but they wouldnt let us. Happened twice.

We wish we could send a message to the other player like Good game! Congrats! Just a few options for a positive communication would be fun. The game is a great brain exerciser, and fun. Its a quick game so we can squeeze it into a busy day.

The game is fun to play! We like challenging our friends but everyone you invite and they pay it doesnt work it will still show you its their turn and vice versa. Would be nice if this got fixed.

We think it could be developed better, categories are repeated overall needs an update.

This game is very fun! However we dislike the autocorrect feature. Whether we get it right or not we prefer what we typed to be the answer we gave. Also, there are a lot of answers that people enter that are not correct for the category but they still come up as correct. For example, entering the name of a fancy grass in the fish category and getting it correct. It would also be great to be able to go back and fix our answers or change them if we have extra time.

Love the game, but the glitches are insane. Anytime theres a new update we get a cannot connect after Ive played a round. Its super annoying and theres really no way to fix it. We went years without playing because of it. Picked it back up and Im STILL running into the same issue.

We like the game but every time we play a tournament, it says connecting and we dont think we get points.

Any attorneys out there? This could be a class action lawsuit. We pay money to play and the games constantly does not reward when it is suppose to only drains our money. It glitches and does not pay back the player when its their fault. Read through comments and it appears the app developer does not take ownership of its fault. Dont play this game you have been warned. Someone needs to get our money back that it is taking and not rewarding when we win.

We love Scattergories!! Its one of our favorite board games to play with our family, and its a good game to test your knowledge. But the potential this game has to be a mobile game was not met at all. The prompts are so repetitive and boring, the game is buggy, and we felt like we had seen the same prompt over 30 times. The devs must have not put enough love and dedication to this game. We get it if this is your first time coding and making a game. But, you could do better. When we play this game, it should feel fun, not like a burden.

Its everything we loved about the boxed game, but better. We love how you can play with your friends from anywhere in the world!! (This came in handy during the pandemic. Our friends and we scheduled times to play.) They also have challenges and banners to win. Overall, one of the best apps we have.

Lots of fun, ads are optional, and Ive never had to spend a cent. Some of the categories could use some tightening of the answers they accept (for example, Artists seems to accept the name of just about any celebrity), but overall the categories are challenging.

Sometimes we lose our keyboard :(.

Having the best time with Scattergories, love all the challenges. Highly recommend.

Im in love with this game!!! Theres so much you can learn from it.

Overall this is a great game to play, but it gets frozen sometimes.

Love the game. However, its infuriating when the connection goes down in the middle of the game and you cant get a score and you dont get your money back.

Fun, but way too repetitive. Please add some new categories, there are plenty from the original game that arent on here.

We want to be able to actually dispute a lot of times it will not allow us to.

The answers in the game are rigged. Ex.) Fiction Character? (A-Z) us: Oswald the lucky rabbit Bot: Mickey Mouse (uncommon) we have a hard time believing that Mickey Mouse is more uncommon than the Oswald who, when we asked many people, no one knew who he was. RIGGED.

For category television shows starting with M, we answered Married with Children. So did our competitor, both were not accepted. Needs a bigger database.

This game is fun but upsettingly glitchy. We did not pay for what should have been advertised as a beta phase app. We get the never-ending loading wheel for minutes on end, give up, start over, to find that none of the points are recorded but of course, our tokens are taken. The software animations are awkwardly freezy, it reorders or omits letters if you type too fast, and it sometimes forgets to give you any rewards, which is frustrating for competitive people. Shame that this has to take from how fun the game could be. Im sorry for the bad rating, but we hope the developers are inspired to resolve this in some way, so less people have something to complain about.

Game is not enough fun to sit thru the ads.

Our husband and we used to love this game but we have noticed that the scoring often does not match. When we finish a game it will say that we won with credit for us answers given, but then when our husband looks on his screen it will say he won. What is showing on our screens frequently doesnt match with the game telling us both that we won the game and the other person lost. It is so inconsistent that it has ruined the experience. Not to mention the right answers that often arent recognized in the games database. It definitely needs some work.

Impossible to play without pay as the advertising is insufferable. Wasted turns by spinning without results.

We have played this game for years its one of our favorite. This game puts you on your toes and makes you think. We gave it 5 stars cause its fun and challenging.
