We are a big fan of crosswords, and this game is designed wonderfully. It works great on the free version, but it is absolutely worth paying for this app. Not only does it make the apps disappear, but the designers deserve to make money on this. They made it fun yet challenging, and it functions so smoothly.
Not too many ads, and all levels of difficulty. Great app.
We started playing this game to keep our mind sharp. Im in our 50s and want to stay as alert as possible and we definitely feel this game helps with that.
Its hard to review fully as its a collection of puzzles from different creators. When its good its great. Its the one we do the most. We hem its bad its so bad and theres no option to report questions as incorrect and its really frustrating. If they truly wanted to ensure customers were happy they would include a report button. We wont pay for the app because of all the errors. Otherwise we would because the function is great.
Fun for a bit, but ads ruin the experience.
Used to be good. But as others have stated, they updated the app a while back that caused all previously completed puzzles to now show up again as playable. It wouldnt be bad if there was an easy option to simply clear the puzzle, but theres not. Only option is to archive it, again. Then youre forced to watch another ad before trying another puzzle. Found several completed sets in a row. So now Im deleting this app, and moving on.
New York Times Monday through Wednesday , the hards are Thursday through Saturday and very hard are look out momma you got your hands full.
Great mix of puzzles and levels. Been playing years and have never tired of it.
Rather than looking at all the nonsense on social media, challenge your mind instead.
Other apps need to learn from this one. Of course, free apps need ads to support the content. However, this one manages to not constantly barrage you with ads nor are the ads obnoxious. Plus they have a large variety of crosswords. Thanks.
Redstone Crossword is our all-time favorite app. Love that the puzzles range from easy, medium, hard and extra hard to fit our every mood. As a senior the puzzles are a constant reassurance that our brain is still sharp. Especially love the instant notification of an incorrect letter. Congrats to the designers of this app. You got it totally right.
Edit: thanks for fixing the recent issue with the puzzle packs! Love this game. Bart Gold is consistently clever. Alan Cole is a demonic genius and we love him for it. Ada Nichole is a welcome younger twist to the app. And these are just some of our favorites. Ive been playing for years and yall are one of our favorite games.
We always thought we would eventually break down and pay the $20 for ad-free… But now it's $35? Absolutely not. We'll just sit through the ads until y'all get a grip. Great app otherwise.

This app is fantastic, the crosswords are so good! But! Sometimes when we have it open, we cant close the app or access any other apps unless we lock the phone and unlock it. Weird bug.
Since the newest update (10/2025) our app freezes a ton. Otherwise we love it.
The crossword functionality is good and the number and variety of puzzles are great. But, after solving each puzzle.you get an ad. Fine. But on our iPad Pro, you cant close the ad. It remains frozen on the screen, so you continuously delete the app and reload it in order to clear the frozen screen.
Would have been 5 stars, but its a bit ridiculous every time we open the app we have to sift through a stupid amount of pop up tutorial windows just to play every single time. Too much effort to just enjoy a quick game for leisure. Uninstalled.
The developers other app is $1.99 to remove ads (we bought that one, it is a crossword app in Portuguese language, and is excellent) this one, however, has the absolutely outrageous price of $34.99. We will stick to honing our skills in Portuguese; $34.99 just to remove ads for this crossword puzzle game is incredibly delusional. No thanks. As a side note, we do take issue with the word rill being used in a crossword set marked easy we are no spring chicken and consider ourselves fairly verbose, yet we had not come across this word until seeing it in one of the puzzles in this app. (It means a small stream). Its great to learn new words-yay for that- but that should have been earmarked for inclusion in a medium-level puzzle, in our opinion.
Most of these crosswords are written with a liberal agenda. Its disgusting they have to introduce their liberal agenda into the game. So unless youre a big proponent of LGPTQAF and Socialism, these games might not be for you.
We like the game & love the different size & difficulty choices, but we can sort the puzzles on our iPhone & cant on our Fire. Plus, that one time forever purchase for phone & tablet doesnt work from iPhone to Fire so we had to purchase it a second time only to find out we cant even sort our puzzles on our Fire. Very annoying.
We think this is a great app because it has so many levels and you dont have to stick to one level. We also like that there is an error option because then we can know what letters are wrong. We recommend everyone getting this app because it is so useful and it can also increase your vocabulary everyday you play it. Everyone in our family has it and we enjoy solving puzzles when we are all together. Its is really the BEST APP EVER.
Love this app but had issues after an update. We reached out to support and they were able to identify the issue that was causing the issue on our device and quickly resolved. Very impressive.
We love this app but it will not refresh to show new puzzles even though we know for a fact a lot have not loaded yet. Ive had to redownload but still having same issue reappear after a few hours.
We love the app. This is our go to time sink. However the last release messed up our progression through the puzzles so that completed sets still show up as not started. Please fix.

Ive been playing this game for years with no issues. We love the challenge and it keeps our brain sharp. However, recently its randomly been freezing and causing our whole phone to freeze with the game stuck in screen. Only once it unfreezes, Im able to close the app out and restart it. Would definitely be 5 stars again if the issue is fixed.
Now completed puzzles show up as not complete and if you open them they are still filled out.
The game is fun and generally functions fine. But if you see an error (spelling, clues, etc.) dont report it or you will start receiving phishing emails.
We dont know what you recently did but completed puzzles now show as new or incomplete. Theyre already solved.
The ads generally leave you alone while playing. But an absolute show stopper is having to sit through a full ad when navigating the puzzle selections. Im just looking thru the various puzzles. Fix this.
We really enjoyed the puzzles until we would try to close the game and we couldnt. Our phone would completely freeze up to where we would have to turn off our screen to get the game to close. Very frustrating, so we have deleted the game and redownloaded it to see if that would fix the problem and it didnt. We have deleted the game and will not use it again. We have already sent an email about the issue.
Whenever we click on ready it still shows all even completed ones it started doing this today you need to correct the problem.
Have used this app for a couple years but after last weeks update all we get is the logo. Might wanna test the app after updating but maybe thats just us.
We loved this app until the last update. The Redstone logo appears then all we get is a black screen. Tried to delete and reinstall, but to no avail.

Tons of crossword puzzles by different authors, easy to use, plenty of settings to make things easier or harder, and the least amount of intrusive ads Ive ever seen in a free game. Cant go wrong with this one.

This app the most amazing crossword puzzle app we have ever used. We dont mind the ads. We would pay for the no ads but its a little too steep.
Really makes you think, helps keep your mind sharp.
Of course all free apps need to have ads and this one will only ever put ads after you finish or close a puzzle. This app is very refreshing after all the stupid games that shove ads in your face every 3 seconds. Its a very clean app that gets to the point instead of hurting the user. It even works offline as long as you have played it online once and downloaded the packs. Good crosswords and worth a try.

This ad Does Not Shut Down. The Only Way to Get Rid of it Is to Down Load it onto our iPhone then delete it. Or Remove your app & reload. This is the Third Time we have Opened & Deleted Royal Kingdom. We Love Your App. Of all the Crossword apps. We have tried yours is the one that has stayed. But we are seriously considering just buying a New York Times, London Times crossword book from Barnes & Nobel. Please, Please, PLEASE get rid of the Royal Kingdom Ad, the King Richard ? Ad is annoying but it does go away. We dont really mind the ads occasionally very rare but something comes up that looks a bit interesting to try and we will download it to try.
We started w the middle difficulty but it was pretty hard so we went to easy and will work up. We like the easy ones because we can do them in a few minutes; we like the quick sense of accomplishment. We like the ability to turn on the option of letting us know when we put a wrong letter in. We recommend this game.
