What Makes Hexic free – the original game Stand Out

Does the old-school MSN game mean a lot to you and now you are looking for a great mobile version of Hexic? This is your app!

"Hexic free – the original game" is a tile-matching puzzle game where you should rotate hexagonal tiles to create certain patterns. The objective of Hexes is to rotate hexagonal pieces of various colors and clear them from the board by forming clusters or flowers.
Clusters are formed when three pieces of the same color touch each other. Pieces above the cleared pieces fall, potentially forming more clusters and causing chain reactions, and new pieces appear at the top of the board.
Bonuses are awarded for clearing more than three pieces at a time, and some pieces contain bonus stars, which yield extra points and can clear larger groups of pieces depending on how they are cleared.
You can create a "silver-star" by arranging six like-coloured pieces into a hexagon or "flower", surrounding a piece of a different color or type. The surrounding pieces are cleared, and the center piece is replaced by a silver-star (unless the center piece was already a silver-star, in which case a new silver-star drops from the top). A silver-star allows you to rotate all surrounding pieces clockwise or counterclockwise.
Forming a flower of silver-stars changes the center piece into a black pearl, which allows you to move three surrounding pieces in a Y or inverted Y pattern.
The ultimate goal of the game is to form a cluster or flower of black pearls, after which the game will end.
Bombs appear occasionally throughout the game. A bomb is colored like other pieces on the board and can be defused by rotating it into a cluster or flower of the same color. The counter on the bomb counts down with each move, and if allowed to reach zero, it explodes and the game is over. Defusing a bomb by clustering it with at least one multiplier piece of the same color causes all pieces of the same color as the bomb to instantly clear from the board.

Good luck & have fun!

Community Insight:

This game isnt supported by the new iOS updates! Please update it so it can be! We love it.

Annoying that the pause and arrows are on the bottom. What about a swipe bar at the top? Swipe left/right, down for pause, up for resume or menu? Same as iOS basically, just contextualized to an interactive button.

It is kind of like the game on the XBOX 360 called Hexic 2.

We used to play Hexic all the time on our X-Box 360. We would put music on and spend hours playing it. Im glad we found it for the iPhone.

You guys should make the colors brighter. Its hard to tell the difference between the purple, blue & pink especially on the bombs. Other than that its a great game.

Just a fun as the one on XBox 360.

Xbox version was BA! This version is pretty good- wish the.

We played this on Xbox all the time and beat the game on there, we're really happy they did a great job recreating it for iPhone. We wish it was a little more vibrant but other than that it's perfect.

So happy it's back! We've spent hours playing the original…. Annnnnd back to the game we go.

This is an amazing game. Works exactly like the original. It is missing a couple of the modes. The biggest complaint we have about the game is that you can't turn off the hints. However that doesn't mean it's not still a great game.

We did like the old better – it was more colorful. But we still love the game.

We really like this game. It was a pleasant surprise when we first discovered it on ZUNE, and now in the App Store. This is a great copy but we agree with others that the board is too small. We dont really care for the pastels but a bigger board would mitigate that some of the colors are hard to differentiate.

We would give this app 5 but our favorite part of of this game on the Xbox is the survival mode and Im bummed it isnt on this. Other than that this is an amazing game and Almost identical to the original.

When we get to level 7, Im out of moves, isnt the board supposed to shuffle? Its very disappointing when you have to start all over. Winning is the hardest as well.

Love this rendition of an old favorite. We dont mind the pastel colors at all. Our one complaint is the overall size of the board. With so much empty space, why not make it bigger? Once new colors are added as levels progress, it gets hard realllly fast due to how small the board is.

This is a great game. It's just like the original hexic we used to play on yahoo games. The only thing we don't like about this game is that it doesn't have an undo button which sometimes you need when the wrong group rotates.

This used to be a 5 Star game. If we cant undo this horrible update, Im deleting the app. The colors changed totally and its so ugly and annoying that we wont play it. Ill delete this one and look for a better version. What were they thinking?!? You ruined it :(.

We hate the way the new update looks. We don't even want to play it anymore! It no longer looks like the original, the colors are muted and hard to look at! Change it back.

Hate the new color scheme. Please restore the previous scheme or allow it as an option.

Such a terrible surprise to go to our favorite game and find these small pale playing pieces. We can't see them without squinting because the color is so faint. Then using the help option makes it even worse. All that junk in there gives us a headache. To be fair we've given it some great tries but we're done unless you bring back the old one.

New pastel Art Deco colors are terrible. Hated it so much we deleted the game. Wish we could give it negative stars.

We hate the new pastel look! It is difficult to see the stars colors. We will quit playing now. You ruined the game.

Glad it's on the phone. Wish it had the original music though.

Fun puzzle game that's simple to understand, simple in design, and doesn't pressure you with in-app purchases or waste time with unnecessary clip scenes. Good luck if you're colorblind. We couldn't tell the difference between blue and purple or green and orange. Made it impossible to set up complicated matches. Would be nice if there was an option to change the color scheme.

…to the point where anywhere we click anywhere in the game we get a 5 second video ad every 10 seconds or so. This is unplayable. Don't waste your time.
