Community Insight:
The whole first book was JUST WORLDBUILDING. There was nothing for you to do besides determine your characters values such as genuine or not. You are not included in much action at all in the whole story and in the end, this shouldve been free to play if the author really wanted to make it as a pilot episode type book. Havent played the rest of the books so if you dont plan on completing the series, dont buy.
A great game, definitely worth the buy! Very excited to continue the story.
We thought about getting the game for a while before getting it, but when we got it it was a-ma-ing! We 95% Recommended, it has awesome story telling, great characters, feels like a real book, and it is not too random on teleporting like the other reviews say. The random teleporting has a reason. Have a good day.
We're a big fan of the Heroes saga but we hesitated on Versus based off of reviews saying the story and wording was too confusing. In our opinion, if you're open minded or have read any Sci-Fi novels, you'll be fine. We highly recommend this.
We have never reviewed a game before but this one is just to cool not to and we just hop there are many more to come.
This was just too weird for us. But we guess if you like absolutely no character development, a sidekick whos in a coma for basically the entire book, and frequent random teleportations that make you wonder if the protag is just hopped up on drugs the whole time, then read on. But be warned- the basic plot is you getting dropped off on some random bloody planet and being confused the whole. Freaking. Time. No actual progress further than that, and the parts with some action have no real risks. Theres just more backstory than we would care to swallow, and we felt ourselves skipping paragraphs upon paragraphs of some random planets history or whatever. Probably not going to buy the next book.
Im a huge fan of interactive novels and games, but we find most of them to lack either compelling writing or reader choices that can actually change the plot and outcome. This game lacks neither, and is easily worth its price!! Im writing this in the hope that CoG releases many more Versus installments because Im not ready to walk away from this story :).

We cannot emphasize enough how good this was. Truly one of the best interactive novels we've come across. Fascinating plot points, diverse characters, significant choices… Honestly what more do you need? We're happy to say it was well-written. Can't wait for the next.
An inspirational and enjoyable choose your own adventure story. As always, the story and choices feel real and exciting. No matter what it status in life, you can relate to the main character. A must read.

We're not a sci-fi fan but am a fan of the "Choice" games/books. We got this anyway because we have nearly completed all of tthe others offered. We loved this! It is so well written! We can't wait to to get Versus 2.
When we first started this series we will admit that it was hard for us to follow, we don't know why, but the more we read and went through to over and over again the more we got it and needed up loving it.

To be honest, we have read many of the Choice games and this is in the top 3 of them. Great, complex, never boring and oh so nail biting! We greatly recommend this to anyone who is interested in this genre of gaming.
We can't describe how much we love this game and how brilliant the writing is. Every scene is epic and we feel so much for the characters involved. Love the other trilogy of Heroes Rise and so we had to play this game as well and we were not disappointed! Highly recommend this game for anyone.

One of our favorite games of all time, not just within the text-adventure category. Period.
This game had a strong storyline that roped us in. We were very invested the plot and the characters. There were no points at which we felt we needed to trudge through to get to something interesting.
This is one of the best of these kinds of games we've ever had the luxury to play. It very easily beats out some of the other greats like Choice of Romance, Choice of the Deathless, and even the Heroes Rise trilogy. Definitely right up there with the Lost Heir series. We love it to death and the second installment can't come soon enough.
We love these text adventures and we've played most of them. This one stands right at the top, alongside The Lost Heir, Heroes Rise, Sabres of Infinity and Zombie Exodus. Versus might be our favorite – we wish the sequel were already out. The writing is excellent, the setting creative, and the choices one makes drastically impact the story. The diverse powers and motivations available to your character guarantee you will want to play through many times. Definitely worth your investment – you need to check this one out.

Wow! We read this on a flight from London to Chicago, made the trip fly by. That was a great read with so many potential paths to explore….we're going to try several and save them to see how the sequel plays out. Hope the sequel comes out soon.

A diverse and inclusive cast of characters make this story a rich and engaging game! Morality and belief systems are also challenged, giving this game a unique voice that sets it apart from previous series by the same author. The replay value for this game is great! This was one of the best choice of games there are! We can't wait for the second book.
The setting and plot are so gripping that you won't want to ever put it down. Every choice you make carries a lot of weight with it. You will feel like you, the player, really are the universes last hope.
This is an incredibly long detailed and imaginative story thats going to take you on one of the deepest journeys into just who you really are.
Writing gets a bit pedantic, and there's some silly word use. Besides that it's a fun and enthralling read, and we're waiting for the next one.
We loved it. It had our attention for hours straight before we realized that it was a book we were reading (and even had a part in writing) and not just a game. We also deeply appreciated the author's consideration to be so inclusive of all gender identities and sexual orientations. We've been binging on tons of Choice of Games' works for several days, but VERSUS #1 is by far our favorite interactive read so far. Can't wait for The Elite Trials.

Honestly one of the best Choice of games due to the fact that it's so diverse in the choices and different ways of forming who you want to be. Truly awesome and one of a kind experience. We also really like the reference to Millennium if that's what it was meant to be :)! Truly awesome and well worth it.
Best of Choice of Games- fascinating characters and setting, incredibly well written, great balance of action and political maneuvering. Challenges you to develop your character and make meaningful decisions about philosophical, political, religious beliefs in a way we've never seen.
By far (in our opinion) one of the best choice game books!! It's refreshingly unique, and we couldn't put it down. CANNOT WAIT FOR SEQUEL.
We don't review apps often…like ever. This game though, is so satisfying good. We feel as if we don't review it it'll be a disservice to the author lol. The story is engaging and entertaining to the very end(the story's not over tho). Choices you make in this game DO matter! You feel the consequences of your decisions and its oh so gratifying. The characters are unique and each have their own personality. Your moral views are tested and pressured through the experience. Which might not be to somes taste. Though, we find it alluring. Purchase this game! It is so so so so so worth it. Excellent experience! 10/10.
