Game of Earth: Build Your City – Strategy Game Review
![]()
Game of Earth: Build Your City is a Strategy/Trivia game from PIXIO LIMITED, first launched in 20th April 2017.
It’s rated 4+ and currently has 467+ ratings on the App Store.
What Makes Game of Earth: Build Your City Stand Out
Build & manage the virtual city of dreams or nightmares in Game of Earth – the fast-paced city sim management game.
As the president of Earth 2.0, you have ultimate control over what happens in your city. By listening to your advisors, making choices, funding projects and investing, you can turn your city into an eco-friendly paradise or a carbon polluted wasteland.
• MAKE DECISIONS THAT SHAPE YOUR CITY
A key part of managing and building a city is making tough decisions. Luckily, your three advisors are around to give you some – occasionally not so great – advice!
You’ll be given the opportunity to invest and fund projects, make decisions on immigration and public transport, decide how your megacity recycles (or doesn’t) and more. Each decision you make will increase or decrease city growth, carbon pollution and your bank account.
• GO GREEN OR GO MEAN?
Choose the types of buildings you’d like to construct in your city – do you build cheaper, industrial buildings that produce more money but more pollution, or eco-friendly buildings to help improve the air quality in the city?
Invest in renewable energy, recycling, public transport and more, or prioritise population growth and money at the cost of carbon pollution. Through making wise decisions, you’ll be able to strike a balance and create a paradise your citizens love to call home!
• MANAGE CITY GROWTH
Balance clean air, citizen growth and treasury funds to keep your virtual city growing at a controlled rate. If population growth rockets out of control, your city may expand too quickly for you to handle! If your funds run out or citizens start leaving your city and your population drops to 0, it’s game over.
Only a lousy president would have a city where nobody lives there!

Community Insight:
This game is good because its trying to teach what you should be doing which youre money when you are older.
The game has cute decorations and great idias.
Great game but we just wish theyd come back and add updates, we think it would do good now.
Gameplay is great but the game is not optimize for our iPhone 13. All the top boxes are covered each other thus it is very hard to see the population.
We think this is a really cute game. Our issue is we have an iPhone 11 (2 rear facing cameras) and the game looks jumbled up on our screen. We can only assume its not formatted for the less expensive iPhone version. We really wanted to love this game. Maybe one day ill either upgrade or itll be reformatted.. Until then.
We tried this game last night. Everything was going good and all of a sudden the people decided to leave our city and we went bankrupt! Totally stupid game! The game should advise you about what the consequences of each decision will be so you can make intelligent decisions. We followed the citizens example and abandoned this worthless game! DELETE.
On an Xr we can barely see icons or population count.
Ill put it simply this is a free version of the Reigns games. This game is too swingy and has a huge learning curve. The game does good introducing its concept and has a slick presentation but is very dependent on memorizing how much everything costs. Youre better off shelling out the under 5 for one of the reigns titles.
Very challenging we wish some choices were clearer in description.
Doesnt tell you how much things cost so its nothing but a guessing game. Pointless.
We need to do more than just sit and play games about cleaning Earth we actually need to do it.This game should inspire all of u to help save Earth.
We LOVE this game. Its super fun, can be very silly, and is generally right up our alley. The only complaint we have is that the algorithm is easy to get past. The goal is to be president as long as possible, and we made it to 42 years before we got bored. It gets repetitive because you get into a sequence that keeps everything working the way it should.
We think this game is a good game but it needs some serious improvements. We believe you should make it so that we can design the buildings or be able to buy more land. You could make it so we can design a character and the city could be 3D so the character can walk around it and see what needs improvements. Also we should be able to add different things like trees or bushes to make it more eco friendly and we think that there shouldnt be so much pollution going in the air so fast. There should be a way to wait to answer the requests but like we said it is a good game and theses are only suggestions.
We liked this game but we wish you could add more houses when some of your house go down and we dont like that the build guy comes up too often.
This is a great game and has a ton more potential. So many fun, cute and colorful buildings, cute pets and decorations. It is definitely a game of balancing your decisions, but the game itself needs more balance. The reason we say this is because once you get into the red with the Co2, the rate in which you lose citizens is way too high / fast. It is nigh on impossible to encourage new citizens to move into your city at that point because any decisions that are positive to citizens only amount to 1% – 2%, and once youre at like -20% citizen loss, a measly 1% – 2% doesnt make any kind of difference. By the time youre able to get the Co2 down to a more manageable amount, youre down to very few citizens and the number continues to drop. Balance this, and we think the game would be perfect.
Please fix the game to fit the screen of iPhone XR its so annoying that everything overlaps.
We downloaded the game on iPhone Xr and it displays in a weird way. It puts things where the notch is, on the top it overlaps the population with the calendar, and everything on the right is cut off.
This game is super fun and addictive but has been unplayable for quite some time now. The game looks terrible on iPhone X and the ticker above overlaps the notch. Please fix the bugs, we love this game and would love to keep playing it.
The screen is too large to fit our phone we think it would fit because we have an iPhone XR.
Really good game. Our only problem is that they dont have the costs for the situations. So say you have 400m and they say we need to do something that will be free, it ends up costing 500m and you lose. Kind of bad mechanics but the game is still being developed.
However it doesnt fit the screen of the XR.
Wish we could try the game but the game doesnt fit the iphone x screen.
Needs update to fix display/orientation to make it fit properly on an iPhone XS Max screen.
This game could be good but its stupid when it comes to in game videos.watch this to reduce pollution.
We dont know how they screwed it up, but it doesnt fit an iPhone Xr screen. There are complaints going back for months now and no fix.
This game is ethically and logically abominable. It's playable, and it has moments of fun. But it's really just wildly cruel, but bizarrely glossy. The developers of this app must really hate poor people, refugees, good government, and climate science–or else they owe them an apology. You can't play this game and feel good about yourself. You just can't.
Ive noticed this a lot with the XR where apps tend to squish everything into the screen. We can get by with some of the apps, but this one makes the icons overlap each other. We can barely even tell what the population count is. The test bubbles are also cut out of the screen, so we have to guess what its trying to say. Not worth trying to decipher everything.
We want to make our city green but the green buildings are hard to get cause the cost to much. We do wish you could have a choice to come back to the green buildings instead of the non-green buildings.
If you like a quick pace, "think on your toes" game then this the game for you. We honestly can say the makers of this game have done a great job putting it together. We enjoy how quickly we have to make rash decision and seeing the output of our actions. We enjoy the simulation of being president! Its our second time playing we reached 5.8 years let's go for 8.
But sometimes its to quick, some of the first things they ask cost way more then you have so you pick the free one and fail quicker. We dont mind failing but geez sometimes we cant get past the 1 year.
We have not tried the game out we rated 4 for know please answer our review next time we write a review.
The game is good and fun but the builder ask way to fast in between time to build and you cant afford the good houses.
Its not bad but its hard being the boss.
This is actually quite a cute yet educational and fast paced game. You need to make decisions when your advisors give it to you. The scientist can reduce pollution but can cost money. The capitalist gets you more money but can generate pollution. The citizen will increase happiness, but it will either cost money or generate pollution. If you run out of citizens by making earth too polluted, you lose. If you run out of money trying to keep the earth healthy, you lose. If you run out of citizens due to not keeping them happy enough, guess what. You also lose. You need to find a perfect balance to go very far. Don't think ignoring your advisors is good for the long run! They will give you extremely harsh penalties if you do! You will also need to build buildings. Eco friendly buildings generates less pollution and money. Industrial buildings generates more pollution and money. Kicker is – eco friendly buildings need money to be built, while the other doesn't. Again, you need to have a good balance. It really does make you think about the condition of Earth. We would recommend this game. UPDATE: The "remove ads" IAP of the game pretty much just gives you ONE free tip per game while for the others you need to use leaves. That feels like a rip off. Also the gacha system needs a tweak, the chances of getting duplicates are significantly higher than getting new ones, even if there's still a ton of items left in the gacha you haven't obtained yet. Because of those two we have rated this game lower.
The effects of some decisions are oversimplified, inconsistent with other similar decisions, or take sides on political debates (like claiming that GMOs are bad) so it is sort of annoying. Itll probably take a few failed games for you to learn what the effects of every decision is. At first this game was way too hard for us. Dont expect to have 100% eco buildings, but you can get close. We have two bad buildings and the rest are eco. Im on year 128.
We enjoy the game but it suffers from severe balancing. Once carbon goes red it is near impossible to recover because the positive percentages are far too low to have impact on negative quite literally at all. Carbon rises so fast that without viewing ads or spending leaves getting past year 7 is just happen stance and most of the time impossible due to the small positives versus massive negatives. In short a negative decision can destroy you but a positive decision is a meh pointless.
Makes us feel like we're in charge for once.
It really helps to educate us about he importance of preserving our beautiful Earth. Because in real life we can't just start over after we lose all our population. We will be dead forever.
We had to make some tough decisions. We like it.
Cant do anything with this game if you don't buy leaves or watch ads. Very right wing too.
There is no real "building" here as every decision basically boils down to a yes or no answer. That all said, it's been a lot of fun working out a strategy when all the worlds problems have been dumbed down to an A/B left vs right question. Say "no" to most everything Mr trillionaire suggests.
Fun to past time with a somewhat fast paced game.
If you're like us and you like to spend hours on an iPhone app making complex political decisions with cutesy characters, then this is for you. Also, if you like to grind through games. A LOT. Our highest score thus far is 68.3 years, and that took more than an hour, probably 2 hours. We can see how casual players might dislike this, but if you're hardcore and are looking for the next challenge, this is that challenge. 10/10; would (and probably will) spend two consecutive hours on it again.
Great game. We barely know anything, but as a intelligent person, maybe it would be easier to stay in the middle. As you coded, you will go bankrupt if you are too green. It would be easier if you made so so buildings. What we mean is half economic, half green. It's half of the cost of normal green buildings. You will also get more money, while balancing CO2 and going green. However, that is possible in the current version. But, as we said, it could be easier this way. If you think that a little unbalanced, maybe you could add contracts. Contracts are randomly earned from the prize machine. However, it is very rare for you to get the contract to build these buildings. If you like the idea of contracts, don't be afraid to add your own! However, like we said earlier, the better it is, the rarer it is to get it.
Cute characters and really fun.
We love the game. It's one of those really cute but addicting games.
It's like the collapse is completely inevitable, at around the same time.
It's a really cute game! You basically make choices and try to keep your earth alive as long as you can. You have to keep your pollution low, population growing, and a strong enough economy to support your world. We've only made it 7 years so far, so good luck.
Not what we expected it's more of a see how long you can keep your earth alive, it's fun, a good time killer and really cute. It's not very Kid friendly as it asks questions about stock markets and stuff.
