Player Experience Highlights

Community Insight:

Bought this great game to show our support for developers of full version high quality games on mobile, without in app purchases. Please continue to update and fix bugs, thank you developers.

This is a beautiful game with a beautiful soul. Great point and click adventure game with a great story. It plays like the basic find and use items to solve puzzles in the areas to progress the stories, but also introduces another mechanic where you can use/interact ideas and or clues like you would an item on people or on your surroundings. This is a great idea that we believe the genre will keep around. Would highly recommend for fans of this type of game.

So looking forward to the next installment. Great job working out the bugs. Daedalic puts soooo much into their games, its more like interacting with a movie than playing a game. Thank you.

The story is really gripping, the characters are well-rounded and likeable, the way choices affect actions is really cool. Love it. Unfortunately Ill have to read the actual book to find out what happens due to slow gameplay, and a real nasty bug. Its never a nice experience when games force players to walk everywhere, especially games where you have to wander back and forth a lot. Its not immersive to watch an avatar crawl across a screen, its painful. Similarly, not letting players read and skip dialoguethe voice acting is great, but sometimes the content isnt exciting enough to wait around for, and other times you have to replay a scene because your progress wasnt saved. Better to let the player be in control of the pace. The controls dont work well on iPhoneX. The buttons are so close to the bottom of the screen that they trigger the phones app selection mode. It would just be a bit annoying, but it caused our game to fatally crash. Now Id have to reinstall to play, and we just cant bring ourselves to crawl around a story Ive already seen.

Our game freezes after loading from either a save created our own (which we then stopped saving and depended on the games natural save which worked until the 6th chapter), or it freezes after loading it from the games save. So its virtually unplayable. Im playing it on our iPad 5th gen mini. We cant imagine playing this on an iPhone, it would be too small.

This is an amazing game. It felt like we were in the story, making history. We had NO glitches whatsoever. Very easy controls. We played on iPad Pro had lots of room on device. The controls are simple enough for a small child to use. We look forward to the next chapters and may play it again as it was that good. It would be the first game that we ever replayed a game in 30 some years. We recommend it to those who enjoy a good adventure game and a good story plus amazing sound and art work. Be prepared to not want to stop though and its not a two hour game. Impressive in every way! Cant imagine how its not a 5 star rating or higher! We will watch for more games by this developer. Our review although we sent it never viewed in reviews we are resending it before contacting the store. Whats up with that? Ive never had this problem before. Waiting for the next chapters.

Thoroughly enjoying this amazing game, atmosphere, story, voice acting all 5 stars, however a bug seems to have locked up all the controls. After the monks start chanting in the cathedral we saved and quit. On coming back into the game the controls are frozen as if the touch screen is unresponsive, making it totally unplayable. We hope this bug gets ironed out as id really rather not restart the game again. (A recommendation to new players would be to save across multiple slots incase this bug happens to you!) Edit: this has been fixed! Thank you we are able to keep playing.

Amazing game, only problem is the action points, can't click on anything.

Im very into history as well as social/cultural anthropology. This is a piece of work that, even with our ignorance from not reading the original material that this game is based on, we can tell took a lot of care to the environment that creates three dimensional characters within the proper context. It has a religious basis, and we are not a religious person; but it does not alienate and preach. More about humanity and personal choices.

We first got the game for our PC and we love it, though we have not completed the game yet. So once we saw it was available on the App Store we got excited and bought it. We are not disappointed, its great export and we get to play the game on the go. Our only problems are that at times the audio can randomly cut out and we will have to restart the game, Im having problems with touch controls, we dont mean they sometimes dont work, we actually cant click anything. Maybe we can figure out the issue. And at times Im also having problems with saves. The saves are sometimes not working and take us to a black screen with some random questionable audio. Over all Im satisfied and we cant wait until the next part comes out on the App Store.

Hey devs, just so you know – apple keeps deleting our sparkling 5 star reviews for your game. We had written a well thought-out review touching on everything (even some audio improvements we felt were needed)..but we thought you should know since deleting our review will negatively effect your games score. We will keep reposting our 5 star review, but we think you should ask apple why they are messing around with customer reviews that could potentially effect the sale of your game.

The graphics are beautiful and the story is gud.

We dont know what the other reviewers are talking about. We played the whole game, no issues with controls. Theres a tutorial at the very beginning to teach how to navigate. Its not complicated. The puzzles are a lot of fun, but youre not spending 30 minutes trying to figure them out. The music is really pretty, the art is nice, the characters are really loveable. Your choices actually make a difference in the storyline. You could easily replay it again and again. You can save at any point and have a lot of save slots. So as long as you save, you can go back to whichever part you want to replay.

Amazing game so far, would be better if we didnt have to restart and lose progress from glitches. Sometimes the settings button disappears, and the main problem is that the calibration is off so much when we return to the game or after a cutscene that we cant select any of the items on the bottom of our screen. It usually resets if we close the app but that results in losing game progress since we cant save before we quit. Otherwise: beautiful artwork, compelling storyline, and interesting characters with impressive voiceovers. Worth the money even with the small glitches. Great work.

We love this game. The glitches were minor and didnt detract from the experience at all. Plus they are working on the glitches. We played twice back to back so we could make different choices and see what that changed! Cant wait to play the next chapters.

Admittedly, we havent gone very far in the game yet. BUT it is definitely unique. Everything is animated, the art is great. The music is great, and they even included voice overs. You can tell that the devs worked very hard on this project. We havent experienced any glitches yet, but even with the little things here and there, this game has SO much potential. If you like story games and point and click adventures, this is for you. We havent seen a game done like this before. Give it a chance! And well done to everyone involved in the making of this game :).

We loved the book and mini series. The game is a really cool extension, almost choose your own adventure. We havent been experiencing problems with the controls like others seem to have, works great for us.

This is a game based off of a novel by the same name. It is incredibly interesting, and takes probably close to 7+ hours to complete the whole thing. Well worth it for the cost. It looks great, is incredibly atmospheric and detailed, and also compelling. It is also entirely bug-free and without any graphical issues.

We go stuck on chapter 3 and finally tracked it down to an auto save bug. Or rather the game does not auto save so when you return to the app, previous progress may be erased to the last manual save. But you have no idea thats the case. Its pretty bad. We wasted a couple of hours roaming around chapter 3 trying to find more work for Tom. Lazy man, find it yourself.

Game is beautiful and interesting but it is full of glitches. Touch screen interface doesnt always work, have to restart and replay parts of the level. UPDATE: To bypass glitches, simply save your progress before leaving the app and then do a hard shutdown of the app. When you restart just choose continue and you should be good to go. If you go back into the app without doing this, controls and on-screen choices dont work right.

We regret spending money on this game. We loved the book and wanted to play the game because of it. At first we thought the glitches were because of our phone, but the game only lets us play so far every once in a while before crashing. Half the time we open the game and can touch our screen all we want but nothing happens. Tried contacting support but with no luck. Finally caved and deleted and reinstalled the game only to have the same problem with all our progress (up to chapter 4) gone. The visuals are beautiful for a phone game but it's worthless if you can't actually play the game.

We really like this game however it is mostly unplayable because the sound is mute, no voices, music, background. Please fix this or refund our $4.99. A paid app shouldnt have such a huge glitch… Oh and we have looked through the developers help site… No patch for this mentioned.

The game is beautiful but we have had to restart the game once from the beginning when Phillip was going to see the bishop and now its stuck when he is trying to see the jailer. It makes us sad because Im thinking of giving up on the game due to the frustration.
