Community Insight:
This dev team makes some of the best games on mobile. Absolutely loved their previous games, Dungeon Maker and Dungeon Squad. This game more closely resembles Dungeon Maker, think of it as a soft sequel to that game. Each run you do is different, essentially trying to build up your characters and dungeon to fight the hordes of enemies each level. And the characters are fun and amazingly drawn/animated as always. Love love love the art style and design these devs use. At this point in time, this game is still essentially a baby in terms of content. Dont get us wrong, theres a lot here already and its absolutely worth the asking price. But the previous two games have had years of support and content updates. Once this game rolls out more content as time goes on, Im sure it will be just as good as their past games. The building blocks are already here, and we recommend anyone looking for another roguelite to support these devs.
DnD vampire survivor vibes. Cant wait for more dark lords.
We really enjoy the mechanics, the gameplay. Perhaps not the biggest fan of it being a gooner game but we digress our real beef is this. Information, or the lack thereof. There are SO many things in this game that are just not explained. The guidebook helps, but for everything it explains theres three times as many things that have you going What the heck does that mean? What does that do? Also for the love of god please hire a native english speaker for your tooltips please.
Recent update made everything overpowered damage sponges. Gameplay feels slow and unrewarding, now. May update review if something changes but as of now games been dropped for other things.
Had no idea what to expect from this game. We bought it on a whim, now Ive been playing almost daily, and bought the expansion pass already. The Devs seem very passionate about their game and frequently communicate with their players. Overall, the quality of the product is very high, and the asking price is generous for the amount of playtime you'll get.
Passed it up at first because it was just all booby ladies but a friend got us to try it and its honestly a fun dungeon defense game. Try it.
These developers really love their IP. The fact that they making the same game but better is what we need for mobile games. 10/10 cant wait to see where this go.
If you liked Dungeon Squad you will like this game too. It is a completely different kind of game but it keeps the same aesthetic and themes. Figuring out how it all works is half the game and Im having a blast trying to understand what works best. Well worth the price.
We love the game, carries the same charm and love the previous games had~.
Honest to god probably one of the best mobile games Ive played.
This game looks awesome but the lack of a tutorial for such a complex game is baffling.
Even for a rouge lite its a little too repetitive the pacing is slow and we feel like we dont really even do much input in the game just watch the battle play out. The artwork and sprites are really good but come on does everything need to be gooner material very few male or actual monster characters. The music was okay but it also doesnt really have story. We kinda wish you could play it portrait mode rather than landscape just rotate the playfield.
Been playing this as our Commuter game for about a week or so now. Was initially turned off by the lack of tutorial and being overwhelmed by information, but after a run or two it succeeds in being intuitive enough to understand. Having a prior understanding of D20 systems and D&D helps a lot as it adapts a lot of concepts from them. The art is well made for what it is, the progression during an individual run has a satisfying arc and theres clearly a lot more than what surface level Ive experienced so far. However, our biggest gripes lies with the games readability as it directly ties to how battles playing out feeling way less in your control than Id like. The lack things like battle log info, no hover over tooltips or real sign of saving throws or effects otherwise happening makes battles feel muddled and samey between runs. The choice of monsters and the combos we try to make feels Insubstantial because of this. For example, we try to combo monsters that cause fear effects with those that combo with Said fear effects or psychic damage but as the battle plays out we couldnt tell you if theyre actually activating or what. The enemies die as we spam our lord abilities and our units trade with enemies weaken by the trapped rooms. We love a good auto battler, but the satisfaction of being able to parse how strategically crafted compositions are winning the day is lacking in this game.
We bought this game because it was highly rated, and since it costs money, we expected a more polished experience. Instead, most of what we paid for seems to be the complexity of the systems rather than enjoyable gameplay. It feels like a tabletop RPG translated into a game, but without doing much to help new players understand it. The game is confusing and relies way too much on trial and error. It doesnt explain things well, and the menus arent very intuitive. There are also a lot of small quality of life issues that add up. For example, the tiny level-up arrow in the Essence Chamber is easy to miss. Managing parties is also frustrating like if we remove a monster from our party, it also gets removed from our dungeon, and its not obvious that we have to go back into a different menu to place it again. Little things like that constantly interrupt the flow. At this point, we dont even know what monsters Im placing in our dungeon anymore. Whenever we unlock a new one, we just hit Reset and use the auto-deploy option because its easier than trying to understand the system. A game built around collecting and managing monsters should make us want to think about our choices, not make us avoid the mechanic altogether. The one thing we genuinely liked was the sense of progression. It always felt like we were unlocking something new, which kept us playing longer than we probably would have otherwise. But the individual runs are very long, and after a while it started to feel like we were just chasing bigger numbers instead of making meaningful decisions. The progression kept our attention, but the gameplay itself never really clicked for us. None of these problems seem like theyd be difficult to fix, but together they made it hard for us to enjoy the game. We can tell theres depth here, but the game does a poor job of making that depth approachable.
The sprites are cool, definitely a lot of fan service but we dont mind. Our issue is that the only action you take in the game is deploying the monsters but you can simply use the auto deploy button. So you dont fight, or plan. We kept choosing high star monsters but felt bored after playing for less than an hour. We were pretty excited about the game but will probably play again.
The core of this game comes from the fact you have to juggle the traps and the monster rooms at a fair balance of RTS and cycling enemy units in those rooms.
We randomly bumped into this game and decided to give it a chance. Absolutely blown away by how entertaining it is and the replayability. Huge amounts of potential and we hope the devs keep expanding the game with new monsters, lords etc.
Basically Dungeon Squad combined with Dungeon Maker. Not a bad thing at all. Early in the game for us still but seems fun so far.
There seems to be an issue with the cloud data not working. Some players even mention it in the discord but there isnt a fix. You cannot access your save for other devices or even recover your save if your device is lost. Overall we are having fun with the game but your saved data needs to be addressed.
Monster girls have returned and they're better than ever. This is more of a return to form with Dungeon Maker compared to the previous entry Dungeon Squad. It takes a lot of inspiration from DnD for mechanics but not in a bad way. Per usual, it's quite complex but as the game is still new we're keeping an open mind and we managed to clear on our first attempt so it's not that bad. Definitely pick it up if you liked Dungeon Maker.
Seriously- the devs behind these games are awesome, all their games are bangers, pure hours of enjoyment on iOS- highly recommend and the price tag on this one is well worth it, youll easily get 40+ hours of gameplay out of this if not more.
As this is really early in development this has solid bones and Im a fan Dungeon Squad so we think its going to be as good or better! Here comes the bossy gamer that know little to no programming we would love to see a Dark Lord that is based on traps like a construct, circus or machine and monsters with high AC that can sit on the and give buffs but can only be one or has to be broke down to move passed, second animation to Ultimate Skills that feel hefty right know it feels like a puff instead of a BANG and for how game saving it is doesnt do it justice. Best wishes guys.
We're about to reach trial 10 &decided to buy the preorder for season passes too! As long as the devs keep their focus on putting out quality games (aka not trying to figure out the best way to rinse their players for money like almost everyone else) then people like ourselves will happily continue being fans &supporting whatever projects they put out!! Keep up the good work &am looking forward to the updates <3 great game would totally recommend to anyone thinking about buying it.
Id recommend every game they have ever made, similar in many ways but entirely different as well. We just get lost in them all endlessly and put them down just to come back and start all over again like the first time. Only been playing this one for about two hours but already feeling the charm and have many more hours of entertainment to come.
Ive played ton of dungeon squad and found that game extremely polished and shockingly in depth. Dungeon within delivers an even deeper gameplay experience while still remaining approachable and fun despite being a different gameplay style.
We had fun with the first two games, so glad this got a second No gacha mechanics makes it pretty easy to support the devs <3.
This game is really fun, and being in early access means there's a lot of room to grow. This harkens back to the gameplay of Dungeon Maker: Dark Lord with the dungeon building and monster squads. It diverges in how the game actually runs on a small level. Where DDDL was entirely real time, this uses a turn system. Each character has a category of actions to use per combat per turn, and cooldowns are in turns so easy to track even with speed up. Our favorite change is how numbers are displayed and calculated. The developers have opted to use dice formulas this time as in tabletop games like Dungeons & Dragons. It makes everything all the numbers much much more digestible if you're familiar with using them and even without we imagine they're easy to learn. Where before we were left slightly guessing on how numbers would change with upgrades and what stats actually did besides bigger = better, it's easy to compare between monsters, understand the potential outcomes of traps and attacks, and just. It feels really good. Banger game so far, looking forward to updates, this studio rocks. Any chance of a PC release? ;).
So honestly just for the fun of it we decided to look up dungeon maker and we found this. Immediately bought it cause we like the other games they made (not just cause the tiddy, tbh Id like more monstery monsters. Fur, scales, whatever furry bait you wanna toss out) but honestly the gameplay of this one honestly is amazing. We can see ourselves getting lost In this game just like the other two and, when we have the chance, Im 100% buying whatever to support the devs! Amazing work as always guys.
Fun addictive game. Would like a short tutorial on how to manage everything. Though you can figure stuff out after a few runs.
Just completed our first run! We had no idea what we were doing at first, but caught on pretty quickly. The sprite work is gorgeous! Cant say enough about it. You can tell each character is lovingly crafted. Very impressive! We look forward to seeing what else this gem has in store for us! Thank you for your hard work, developers.
