Adventures of Pip – Adventure Game Review
![]()
Adventures of Pip is a Adventure/Action game from Tic Toc Studios, first launched in 2nd July 2015.
It’s rated 12+ and currently has 87+ ratings on the App Store.
What Makes Adventures of Pip Stand Out
“Adventures of Pip is a delightful little platformer full of charm, challenge and impeccable level design.”
4/5 – Hardcore Gamer
"A retro platformer that sets itself apart with the protagonist’s transformation from a single pixel into 8- and 16-bit incarnations."
8/10 – EGMNow
“The unique gameplay mechanics, including evo- and devolution, further add to the game's appeal, setting it apart from many of the modern platformers available today.”
4.5/5 – Gizorama
Adventures of Pip revitalizes the classic side-scrolling action platform genre. Pip — the ultimate digital underdog – is a lowly single pixel in a 32-bit world who proves that you can’t judge a hero by the fidelity of his shaders. During the game, Pip gains the ability to evolve and grow by absorbing pixels from his fallen foes. Those same pixels can then be used to blast through environment puzzles and enemies, devolving Pip back to a single pixel. Players will explore five stylized worlds and experience up to 10 hours of epic adventure saving Pip’s village from the evil Queen DeRezzia.
Inspired by classic platformers, Adventures of Pip basks in a world where players can defeat a huge 32-bit boss as a single pixel or even as an 8-bit character.
With three different forms, evolve and devolve Pip to solve puzzles and defeat enemies; each with their own weakness and strength that must be unraveled throughout the campaign.
This Adventure game offers engaging gameplay and regular updates for mobile players.

Community Insight:
Gameplay has greatly improved since the update. The game is fun to play and worth your time. However, we gave it only three stars due to some minor nagging niggles: 1. When your life is down to only 1-star, the blinking alert is annoying loud. Just remove that blaring sound. 2. Movements via our Steel Stratus controller arent sharp depleting lives and frustrating progression. Apply these fixes and Id easily bump the review up +2 stars.
This game has nothing wrong with it at all. It has' that cool retro style graphics, platforming as fun as a Mario Game, and also has a very good story and concept. This game is in a higher class than other games.
We found this game by chance and was pleasantly surprised by it. The controls are great, the game play is great, and the storyline is great too. We liked it so much, we bought the full version. We even reached out to the developer and congratulated him on a great game. We highly recommend it.
If we were ign we'd rate it 10/10 amazing game.
Fun, challenging but not ridiculously so. Enough online guides to help if you're stuck – all around good game. Seeing reviews of it being $10-$15 game – wouldn't buy at that price, but for $1.99, absolutely.
We've spent stupid amounts of $ in the AppStore. This is by far, and without a doubt the best platformer we have bought in the last 5 years.
This game has been so great. Really awesome controls. Worth it.
If you are looking for an adventure game, a platform game, a puzzle game, a mistery game, an entertainment game, a fast game, a slow game, a zelda kind of game, a Super Mario kind of game, an archade feeling game… A… Anyway this is the only game to buy. Seriously.
It's a good game, and way better than other iOS platformers. The levels are a bit repetitive, but the game is worth the cost.
We just finished this game last night and really enjoyed it from start to finish. The level design was the star here and though it was tough, it never felt unfair. Highly recommend this game and hope that there are still plans for a sequel.
Fantastic graphics and sound, tight controls, charm for days, and lots of polish, topped off by fun game mechanics and excellent level design. We have revised our old three star review to five stars. After paying careful attention, we were finally able to pass a level that was becoming frustrating, and we're very happy we did. Be warned though…there are tough parts to this game, and it can be demanding. Perseverance pays off in the end! Recommended.
We've had this game on our wish list for a while and once we saw that it was on sale for 4.99, we quickly bought it. If you like platform games with a fantastic story, then you will enjoy this game. It has way more depth than other games on iOS and we like the fact that you can return to the castle and purchase things and talk to people around the kingdom. Another plus is that every level feels and looks different and gets progressively harder. There are 36 levels and they all take around 7 minutes to beat, so it will take some time to finish this game. It never gets boring though and is worth every penny.
Only put about 30 minutes, but can tell it's worth the extra money. A jump the has a floaty landing makes playing on a touch screen much easier. Great music and clever writing. Goes back to playing.
10/10 would recommend. We know it's a little pricey but it has the potential of a console game through the convenience of an iOS app.
Terrific game, levels well-designed, a beautiful platformer. With the ability to resize controls, it just soared into the stratosphere. Thanks, TicToc.
We've played he previous version it's playable but the controls need to be improved But now It's working flawlessly It's totaly console quality on your phone Get it NOW.
This is a console quality platformer for iOS. Charming graphics, interesting and unique game mechanics, tons of polish, challenging levels, works great with mfi controller. That's just some of the great things you will find in this game. Totally worth the price. Yes most paid games are a buck or two, but this offers much more than those. Keep premium games on iOS alive. This game is is mindblowingly good.
Its a pretty good game with some interesting mechanics but be prepared to throw your phone across the room on some of the later levels. Certain parts will be super easy but certain parts will have you dying 300 times in a row trying to make that one jump.
We really like this game but we fear this game wont be playable if it doesnt get updated.
The controls aren't that great. Static or not, they just don't seem to react as well as other games. They're just not good. The graphics are ok, considering everything in this game is about bits. The gameplay itself really isn't that spectacular. Usual 2D side-scrolling platformer. Honestly, we picked this up on sale, and we still feel like we got ripped off. Don't waste your time on money on this.
Super generic, cut and paste platforming. We really don't get the hype in the reviews. Physics and enemies are super generic. Most enemies walk slowwwwly back and forth. Collision is also super forgiving. One enemy floats in the air, shooting a yellow orb at you every 10 seconds or so. Timed traps give you ample time to flee to safety. Might be a good game for kids 7-10 or so.
We can't see why all the hype for this game. We went into it we guess with to high of hopes because to us it's just ok nothing great actually kinda dull. Great graphics ok controls but the levels are kinda generic. For the price you can find a lot more enjoyable games for a lot less.
Can we get an update for iPhone X. The in game screen is too small. It doesnt use the full screen of the iPhone X. We just bought the game but if there isnt an update soon, Ill be asking for a refund.
Not worth the $5 , people really tout the controls, but they aren't that great, the animation, story line and bleak magic and currency reward system add to a unintuitive punishing side scroller without a point or reward. Truly several attempts to love the game result in guilt for having paid $5 for the game. A chicken sandwich would still feel satisfying.
One more game and more money we should have saved. Too bad they didn't have a demo mode or way to try it for like 15 minutes like Google. Allowing easy refund if it's not to your liking. Some of the levels of this game just are not fun when im repeatedly trying over and over to get passed some difficult part. A lot of that in this game. If we didn't spend what we did on this mobile game we guess it wouldn't be so bad. But we spent $10 or $15 (buy a lot of apps and can't remember) on a game that is more frustrating than fun. At least for us, at this moment.
Why bother. Sure they fixed the controls but this isn't a game you can "just pick up" casually. Irritatingly difficult at times that punishes you for ever wanting to pick up–then you do because of the great ratings, then put down.
Fun and creative game and better controls than minecraft pe.
…this might even be a top three iOS game, period! Pip is a console quality side-scrolling platformer with the perfect amount of difficulty, top notch artwork and level design, nice story and addictive game play. Sure, the control areas are a little small (we have medium size hands) but we continue to spend at least an hour a day playing Pip, so it's obviously not a deal breaker. Thanks, devs, for setting the bar higher for iOS games! Instant classic here.
We're so glad to finally see this game hit the AppStore! Amazing work guys. Art team nailed it.
We downloaded this game week 1 for $4.99 on our iPhone 6+. We are really enjoying the platforming action. The difficulty ramps up pretty fast but we haven't found any areas that are frustratingly hard yet. We initially tried this game with the native touch controls (both analog and D pad) and found them a little lacking. We can't really put our finger on it but we found Pip doing a lot of things we did not intend. We switched to our Hori Horipad Mfi controller and it's an incredible difference. This game was made for an Mfi controller. If you've been wavering on getting one this game almost demands it. Such a better experience with a physical controller. The graphics are good and the storyline is interesting if just passable. Even at $14.99 this game is worth it. It's a must play. Well done.
We love this game to death. Real nostalgic feeling. Reminds us a lot of older platform games! Controls take some getting used to but you'll get it.
When we saw the trailer on the Nintendo Channel, we were so sad when it said for Wii U only. Then we check the App Store and here it is! We are not disappointed with the game and is one of the best platformers this year. The concept is a great, new, fresh idea that is demonstrated perfectly in this game. The one minor complaint is that it crashes from time to time, but it doesn't take away from the fun.
Love the concept, gameplay and music! This is an absolutely amazing game! Way to go developers!!!!! Love it.
Maybe the best platformer for the ios! Buy now.
We love this game! The gameplay is easy and fun, the storyline is cute, and the visuals are fancy. Keep up the good work.
Stumbled across this gem, have had a lot of fun on these first few levels. Clever to build up and build down the bits of Pip.
This is a wonderful game, it's got amazing music and really nice looking art. We were a little worried at first wondering how well the controls would work on an iOS device rather than with a controller or keyboard/mouse. We must say that it does a rather good job! The only issues we've had with the controls is that the jump button seems to be a wee bit small and tucked away, especially for being used so often. Beside that the game is great! It's been really fun so far and really lives up to its creative potential. The level design is great, giving us just the right amount of challenge without frustrating us and making us want to throw our phone. We feel that it's a top notch game and well worth its current price tag of $5! Considering that most games on the App Store sell for around $1-$3 when paying $5 for a game you expect something good, and we feel it pulls it off well. We don't know how good it will be when it goes on to be full price, but at the moment we've loved the game so far and am happy we invested in it. Link270.
Great game and a must play. The second version of pip is our fav! Great music too. Reminds us of old school Nintendo games.
Cool story. Great art. Challenging/fun gameplay.
This game is dooooope! Taking a break from our XBOne to play this, it actually has a story.
This game is very fun! It is an old classic platformer adventure game. (Metroid, Mega-Man, etc). But just because it is like these old game does not mean that it is outdated and not fun. Graphics are good, it plays well, and it is worth the money. It is good to see a game that lets us pay for it once and does not show us ads constantly or demand purchases all the time.
Wow! How can these guys get this much adventure in so little pixels you ask? They are wizards, thats how. One of the most enjoyable adventure platformers of 2015! Art is beautiful and the Story is endearing. You have to play this.
Do it! Just DO IT! Yesterday you said you'd download it tomorrow…JUST DO IT.
Awesome game, just beat it. The storyline was great, and the game was polished, 4 star rating would be 5 but as others have mentioned the controls could use a little work, perhaps move the evolve button a bit higher so it's not accidently pressed when jumping, we also noticed some input lag occasionally. Author put some work into this game, about 11 hours of gameplay for us which was worth the money spent. Good job, looking forward to more games from you.
This is a great game. Feels like on of the first complete mobile games we've ever played. The controls on the iPhone are very difficult and buggy. They work great on our iPad Mini.
The controls aren't perfect. Frustrating at times.
This game was well put together. The graphics are great, concept is excellent, story could be better, but the controls ruin the entire experience. We have absolutely walked away from this game because we can't stand the way the controls respond and don't react to commands. We paid for this game which is what makes it more frustrating. Note to developer: rethink controls or future games won't sell based off one game.
"Full controller support!" Is what got us into this game. Surprise surprise, can't figure out how to hook up a controller. The in game controls are pretty crappy, limiting the experience. Otherwise, it's a fun game.
Whenever we exit the game our phone overheats. It only happens when we play this game.
We think the game haves a good artwork and music. The concept of the video game is pretty cool but the game play its terrible please You should make an improvement.
