GREAT reinvention of a classic! Love the new graphics, weapons, ships, dual control, sounds, and everything else. We won’t take a star off, but the enemy ships should be more aggressive. Thanks Atari for taking a great nostalgic game and giving it a proper modernization.

Honestly, we love to play games on our iPod 5th Generation, which includes asteroids. But why do people give negative feedback to this game because of the ads? It is not Atari’s fault. It. Can’t help that. The idea of the ads is so that Atari can make money. They are not trying to make the game go bad. In fact, they are not even blocking out the entire gameplay when you are in-game. As an App Store user, Britton Stokes, had said, "I’ve heard that Atari is filing for bankruptcy." So in this case, there has to be ads there, so you’ll mind as well stop with the complaining, just like us. Asteroids is a good game with pretty graphics, a great upgrade store and lots of levels in each of the four worlds. Overall, we think that this game is a must-try.
For all the people crying about ads… Welcome to life… For all te crashing… Turn off your frickin device am turn it back on! We have a 3rd Gen ipod with 40mb of space left and the game runs flawlessly. Stop complaining because you guys dont know how to get rid of the lag.
The game is great even with the ads. If you don’t want the ads just get the paid version which comes with everything unlocked. And the only thing you pay for is the crystals. We haven’t seen space bucks in the paid version at all yet.
We want more sectors but it is a really addicting game we love it.
We have to update a review for this app that we had posted previously. We discovered that while we can’t play this game on our iPhone 6s, we can play it on an old iPhone 4s that we had used before we got the newer phone. Once we learned that our 4s still had a purpose, we were able to play the game and save our progress. We finally was able to play it through until we had completed all levels. However, we suggest spending a couple of bucks and buying one of the upper-level ships that are offered because the scout is rather useless. Buy the battleship, even though it’s a bit slow, because it can take a beating. But, don’t look for any updates for this app in the future. Not only has this app not been updated within the past couple of years, Atari doesn’t even discuss this game on their website anymore.
We have this game on our first Gen IPad we wish you could update it for the more modern version of iPhone and iPad.
We haven’t played this game for quite some time and finally decided to play it again… We are amazed to see that there still is NO PRICE for the upgraded ships.. We would gladly spend some money with you guys if we actually knew how much money we needed to spend… And we’re not going to upgrade to the full version and lose all of the progress we have made just to start over…
It would make sense if the + version had all content including Omega sector and color customization rather than have us get both just to have full content!
The ads are completely annoying and takes away from the game like you would not believe. Why they did this and who told them this was a good idea?!!?
Game is addictive and fun, just like the old school asteroids, but way better! All that said it crashed yesterday just after we upgraded our ship and now when we open the game it just closes and we have nothing. Please send down the latest iPhone 5 fix so we can play again!!! B.
We really love to play this game! The problem is that since the last few upgrades in IOS it crashes almost every game! We are so frustrated! Please make the fixes! Soon!
It is a very fun game to play but upgrading ships is to expensive. Atari says there is a deal right know where you can buy a ship for 1 space buck. WRONG You can’t so we downloaded this game for nothing. Please fix this if you want 5 starts Atari.
One annoying stupid flaw: The illiterate idiots who design these things don’t know how to read so when they flash your objective tips up on the screen at the start of a game the dummies leave the words up way too briefly! Nobody could read some of those lines fast enough! This is a rampant problem not just in illiterate games but by inexperienced editors of movie trailers, films, TV programs, commercials and the culture in general as illiterate millennials and foreign scum continue to take over with their stupidity for convention if not inventive pioneering otherwise. STOP and think morons and the managers of these monkeys MUST BE FIRED!
Still cool, this reboot of Asteroids plays well. The alien ship AI could be better and ad more difficulty. But, as this game has not been updated for some time, we don’t expect anymore improvements soon if at all. Please Atari update this game!!

Game crashes intermittently, wasting your money. You have to spend money on special weapons that only last while you’re playing. It resets when you die or exit out, so make the most of it while you’re playing or you’re just wasting money. If the game crashes – you’re SOL. It’s an otherwise fun game.
This game is great except it crashes way to often. We don’t mind the ads. Fix the crashes!
Let us start the review like this: This game isn’t bad but it isn’t good either. First of all, we are playing on a phone. We understand that any control scheme is difficult to execute with the touchpad. Thumbs are not the most responsive or very accurate when playing games. Not dropping stars because of that. Also, Atari did good by spicing up the game with varying areas and weapons. Here’s a big tip for everyone: don’t buy ANY of the Omega Tech! For a basic item it will take 20k to unlock and 8k for each time you need to buy it. So 28k for the first time use. You need to re-buy it each time you play. 8k each time (it probably even increases the more you use it like when you buy the regular weapons). All costs seem to increase the longer you play. Also, healing between waves takes a huge chunk of your won gold and the amount keeps on increasing the longer you play. All of our complaints could have been avoided but there is no details or information on the main website, no tips, nothing! Except one: spend money to unlock things. We would have too, if we knew some details but since they’re trying to milk the Intellectual Property with as little effort as possible. F’ them. Add a FAQ. Add a tutorial with some details. Add more of a description to everything! You spent alot of time on the gameplay (which is fantastic), but no time on the menus and clarity for the user. Stupid things keep on popping up that make it feel like we were swindled out of gold.
Fun little game, but upgrades are very pricey and the game crashes often on our iPhone 4S running iOS 5.0.1. Omega upgrades cost money even after you research them, and they only last one game. Knowing that we would have held off on getting any.
This would be an awesome game if it did not constantly crash. Then you lose everything you’ve earned (ore & weapons. Since your loot is stolen it forces you to buy more with cash. Talk about a ripoff! Fix the game!!!
Hitting us up with an add at the end of every wave? We bought space bucks. Why do we have to pay more to have the ads removed. Make you money, guys, just don’t be greedy. By the way, while the original game on the 2600 didn’t have the graphics this version does, it was a heck of a lot more fun to play. This game is too slow, and the jet propulsion isnt nearly as cool as your original.
This game keeps crashing and you lose all the ore you had mined. There’s a commercial between each wave and another little banner below. Too much ad space. It’s to bad cuz he game is cool but its ruined by too many ads and constant crashes.
We were having fun with this game and progressing at what we thought was a good rate but then realized how greedy Atari was being with upgrades. First off, there are no instructions or guide available so its difficult to figure out whats what with the game. For example: we are still wondering what the difference is between the different wave stars, how the multipliers work, what do the ranks do, etc. On top of that they specifically limit your information to get more money out of you. There is no cost listed for ship upgrades for example and what finally broke us and made us five up the game – buying space buck with coins. It costs 100,000 coins to purchase space bucks. For us this was a very tedious process. We understand they need to make their money so in our tedious acquisition of coins they are getting more advertising money etc etc. We are fine with that but you cant find out how many spacebucks you get for your hard work until you can afford it, then you find out it only gives you 1 space buck. You cant do crap with 1 space buck. We cant even imagine how much sweat equity we would have to contribute to unlock a new ship. We give up and am deleting the game. Atari, we would have happily played a long time and contributed alot of advertisement clicks to chug along slowly at this game. Your definition of slowly seems exponentially more than even our ‘Type A’ personality can handle – so you have lost us as a customer. Furthermore we have always had a high brand loyalty/respect for your company going all the way back to the 5200. This predatory design is disheartening and is now tainting that loyalty/ respect such that we will be hesitant to invest in your products in the future. We doubt it will happen but we hope you realize the error of your ways and re-release this game in a more enjoyable framework.
In order to progress you must ours crystals but the game crashes constantly and you lose all mined crystals… Getting nowhere. Until this is fixed it is a total waste of time to try and play.
Let’s hope the developer updates the app.
The game is fun but VERY buggy. It crashes constantly and you lose your upgrades and ore each time. So you try to farm ore to make up for the previous crash which you will lose again shortly after. We would advise waiting until they get this thing fixed.
Good concept, decent controls, just not enough to want to keep playing.
Even with the "bug fixes" the game still crashes after playing only one wave! It’s really irritating. No improvement with this update.
We know this game is "free" (a term used very loosely in the app store these days) and expectations shouldn’t be too high to begin with, but this was once a pretty good game that did justice to the original and we could overlook the fact that they wanted you to pay for certain upgrades/levels within the game. But apparently that wasn’t enough to support the developers because now they sell ads that appear to an obnoxious degree throughout the game. And not only static ads, but VIDEO ads that interrupt the flow of the game and is a complete turnoff. We LOVE Atari and generally support every iOS release they put out but we won’t be downloading any more of their "free" games and encouraging this type of product. We would MUCH rather pay for the initial download and be rid of in-app purchases and annoying pop-up ads. In fact, we think it’s safe to say that your advertisers actually DISCOURAGE us from buying their product by pimping their goods this way. Hey Atari: How’s about working on an update with new games on your greatest hits app that I’d happily pay for instead of this garbage?
The gameplay is actually quite nice, but there is no way to progress without in-game purchases–none. When the game says "unlock" it actually means "buy."
Fun but game keeps crashing and you lose recently mined ore. Also, omega tech is expensive, only lasts one round, and from what we could tell does not work. We loaded our tech into slot, then during game tried pressing the tab and the d@mn thing would not turn on, activate or whatever. Nowhere does the game say this is unavailable on free version. Totally useless.
But it still is way too greedy on pushing IAP. Game is fun, but an ad pops up every wave and upgrades cost a prohibitive amount so that it’s nearly impossible to keep progressing without real money. As someone else mentioned Omegatech costs too much to be useful at all. Good gameplay Atari, but you’re ruining it by pushing too hard for In App purchases and never updating. I’d rather pay for the App than have it ruined this way (don’t pay for the + version, it is worse)

The game’s alright, but space bucks are way too expensive. 100,000 crystals for 1 space buck is too much. Lower the amount, or make crystals more common. Also, even if we could get space bucks, there are no prices for the ships ANYWHERE. Without any practical way to get upgrades or new ships, the game gets boring fast. Main thing: MAKE SPACE BUCKS CHEAPER.
In particular, it crashes shortly after starting the game, which means those expensive power-ups are gone, and you get to spend more. This is with nothing else running in the background, recent reboot, no temp issues and no problems on other apps. Omega tech auto-harvest doesn’t work, the military ship is weak, slow, and poor range! Thinking of deleting if not fixed…
Not very happy! Have lost lives, that we paid for, from it crashing. Also bought various upgrades that are lost because we received a phone call! Stop charging for everything while it continues to crash and cheat you outta things!!
How can you mess up a great game? Who ever sign off on the update… Fire him! We lost all our bucks that we pay for in the update….. DO NOT UPDATE!!!! You will lose everything… We are removing the game.

Crashes on start up like the video game industry in 1983.
Fun game, but extremely unstable, crashing more than you actually get to play. You lose your omega tech every time it crashes, so you’ll never really advance. For the number of commercials they try to force you to watch you should get something in return. All in all, a bigger loser than the original launch. Try again!
Great game if it didn’t always crash and there was a way to earn space bucks. In other words don’t waste your time. It will end up causing you hours of frustration.
