Community Insight:
Amazing game. No ads or pay to play. Great story, with consequences, strategy, and characters to enjoy. Please release Banner Scrolls 3 for iOS.
Banner Saga is one of the few games that Ive replayed several times and own on several platforms. Our favorite platform for this series is iPad! For several reasons, it just feels right. Controllers and PC/Mac are awkward in ways that make the iPad with the touch screen just ideal. But here we are in 2025 and BS3 on iOS is still nowhere to be seen. Any chance we might see it someday.
But why isnt it full screen. Is there a way to adjust this, Im on an iPhone 13.
An amazing game with a gripping story and well-developed characters. We especially loved the decision-making aspect, as it added depth and made the journey feel personal. Highly recommend it.
This game series has fascinated us for years. It is intricate, involved and difficulty. We cannot play it when as a second screen distraction because it is entirely too distracting! It is not for everyone, as it requires some relatively deep thinking and patience. The game has infuriated us infrequently but when we win these challenges, we feel validated by ourselves. There are very few games we can say this about.
Its a fantastic game and Ive loved it on mobile before, thats why Im still giving it five stars. However it will not open on iOS 16. It crashes on start every time. For that reason we cant recommend buying on iOS until resolved.
Will a fix be pushed to iOS sometime? We've been wanting to run another play through and the game refuses to load.
Artfully made strategy game with a story heavy choice/ reward mini-game component. – Beautiful art and story. – Game journey map with great lore. – Deep and satisfying strategic combat. Our only complaint (which is the same on consoles / desktop) is the lack of ability to rotate the camera. – Im grateful such an awesome game is available on iOS in the first place, so thank you! – Of course, part 3 would be great.
Quality game for enjoyment, storyline is nice. Relaxing game but also has action.
Such an amazing series. As a lover of Tactical RPGs, The Banner Saga really is the cream of the crop when it comes to storytelling, creative mechanics, and it just looks good setting such a bleak tone with quite a bit of replayability we will forever be disappointed that we arent able to finish the original trilogy on mobile. We even own the series on PC, but would still like the chance to play it through on mobile, too.
Fun game but you need to finish the trilogy and give us #3 on mobile. Dont leave us hangin.
The story has some real weight to it. You really feel like the world is ending and you feel even more powerless when your choices end up killing clansmen, and even worst, when one of your decisions permakills one of your hero characters. The battles push you harder and further than the battles in the first game. Some abilities have been added and some like the shieldmaster(or what ever the class is called) have been nerfed but are still viable. The new hero and enemy types add some welcome variety. We loved the training challenges in camp throughout the story. Have not played survival yet but the base game is good enough. Wish the third was on here, and for a lot of people that is a deal breaker, but this game is great as a stand alone. It has a good amount of replay ability. The music is just as good as the first, the artwork is great too.
Beautiful design and amazing story with decisions that truly make you nervous. We love playing strategy games on our phone and this series is by far the best experience Ive had.
The first time we played we couldn't import our game into Banner Saga 2. The second time we played, we did it over the course of a weekend in an attempt to start Banner Saga 2 right after. Seeing that Banner Saga 2 was just as challenging, if not more challenging, than the first game, we put it down. We just picked up Banner Saga 1 and played through it a third time, so that we could maintain story cohesion for Banner Saga 2. We're glad we did!! Banner Saga 2 was very epic in a lot of new ways, while maintaining all of the really cool features of the first: nail-biting strategy RPG battles, nail-biting Oregon Trail choice making, a KILLER musical score, and beautiful art. We will probably play Banner Saga 2 a second time in anticipation of playing the third. Thank you for this beautiful RPG, very exciting and memorable! Update: 11/19/20 we played BS2… Two more times! We also bought BS1 and BS2 for PS4 and Switch. Will there ever be an iOS port of BS3.
Great strategic combat experience but the language can be a huge barrier since the choices that you make during the story mode determines what characters and amount resources you are going to get. Thanks for reading our comment.
These games are so amazing. Youve done a wonderful job with both of them. Its been a while so, where is part 3.
Buy the series games like we said. Some of the best money you will spend on games period. Play the first game first. Well duh…. But these games are great. Waiting for the third installment to come to ios. Amazing stories. Fights. Choices. Character development forced and chosen. Sigh. More games like this please! They did so well that we love the back ground noise and music it makes it so immersive. You will know what we mean. This is a gaming company that truly cares about the platform and the game it puts out. From a customer thank you.
Never reviewed a game but this is worth playing involved turned the tv off edge of the seat kind of thing great game cant say it enough.
We have replayed the game probably twice per installation per year. One thing thats confusing is the name of import saves from BS1 to BS2 is confusing and feels switched. Like we just imported our save from playing through as Rook and choosing to sacrifice Alette, but the import save is labeled as Alette. Only way we wouldve known that the saved game will load as Rook was trying to remember what day we started playing which save.
We really love the lore, and the story building and tough choices to make, And growing up mostly focused on art classes we absolutely loved the art work and way its implemented, we really hope Banner Saga 3 comes to iOS because we really want to continue our story badly.
Looking forward to playing the continuation, and our gosh you also made the 3rd part for every other system but the mobile device!? Hope to see the conclusion, and whatever future projects Stoic works on in the future =).
Do not miss out on this gaming experience, they dont come along nearly often enough. The story is like a book you cant put down, the choices incredibly well thought out, rarely black and white with characters drawn so vividly caring about the outcome is all but compulsory. The gameplay is satisfying with balanced mechanics and at first glance simple yet fun turn based combat easy to grasp while masking a much deeper strategic and tactical system underneath allowing clever use of synergies, positioning, unique class abilities and more, giving you plenty to dig into and master. It builds and improves on its predecessor, fine tuning gameplay, adding classes and including additional features like destructible physical barricades and an addition we particularly enjoyed- optional training combat scenarios that teach how new abilities work and can best be utilized while rewarding the ever needed resource termed renown. Speaking of which the resource system is simple, but brilliant. Do you spend renown on supplies to keep your people from starving and dying, spend it to level up your heroes or purchasing gear/items. And managing that balance of resource is crucial. We cant recommend this Saga enough and have pestered, cajoled, pressured friend after friend to get it/play it and not one has been disappointed. Writing a review for a game we enjoy is quite rare; but a game like this- we had too. Dont think Ive written a review since divinity2 or witcher3. The only real complaint is wanting more!!! More story more game more everything and luckily we still have the concluding entry of the trilogy to look forward to, banner saga 3. To anyone reading and considering. You are in for a treat. And if you have the option play on iPad over iPhone. The extra screen size is ideal.
As a fan of Norse lore, this game really hits home with us. Both a masterpiece of gameplay and storyline.
Ive never played a game like this. It was incredible and worth every penny. Hours and hours of play, gripping story; Ive played it and Banner Saga 1 twice already and am starting a new game after this review. Wow. Buy this, play this, and cancel your plans for the day; you wont be able to stop. When does Banner Saga 3 come out??? Hurry please.
All heart here. We mean yeah, its not Squaresoft but its about the best indie strategy game Ive seen. We caught the Robert Jordan influence btw. ;) Just wish it was longer. ::sigh:;.
The sequel to The Banner Saga is tactically deeper, with improved battle variety, more character types, and more character abilities. The story is just as rich and darkly moving as the first. The art is still spectacular. This is a must if you enjoyed the original.
Do you plan to make banner saga 3 available on mobile? Its best platform is on mobile we do own this on pc as well but find it more tedious. Really really love your product. Please make more games like this.
We played both regular and survival mode. The artwork is great and we like the strategic form of battle. Well worth the $$$.
Eagerly awaiting the chance to own the complete trilogy on our ipad, will be a day 1 purchase once it finally hits the app store. Here's hoping for Q1 2019 :).
The Banner Saga 1 and 2 are definitely our favorite games Ive ever played on the App Store. The story, characters, artwork, and gameplay are all absolutely incredible. You will not regret buying these two games. We just really wish The Banner Saga 3 would come out on mobile! Please put it out soon.
We played Banner 1 and Factions a while back and loved them. Banner 2 is the perfect sequel to the first game. Recommended for anyone who loves a rich and intricate story, beautiful artwork, and engaging and thoughtful gameplay.
Inspiring story and beautifully strategic.
We cant even begin to express our love for this game and the series in general. Im usually a cheap-skate and wont spend much money, if ANY on games, but we didnt even hesitate to purchase this game. The combat is amazing, and the story itself is phenomenal. We loved this game so much that we even purchased the survival mode expansion. We love this game so much, and we cant wait for the third game to come out.
Def getting the third when its out.
These games have blown us away, particularly with the top-notch world-building. As someone who always loved to pour over maps of Middle-Earth, Westeros, and Malazan the interactive map feature is easily our favorite thing about the game, just continuing to astonish us with how much thought has been put into the creation of the world. Five stars easily, and we wish we could give you more helpful feedback but we just cannot find any flaws in Banner Saga or its sequel. We do no normally follow specific game developers but we have not enjoyed a game this much since The Last of Us. Looking forward to the finale and keep up the great work! Skold.
Love this game, considering buying the trilogy for xbone when it comes out, but Ive got kids so console gaming is rare these days. If you were debating getting, just do it and thank us later, obviously buy bs1 first.
Its important to know going-in that this is primarily an interactive graphic novel. A good one. The strategic game comes in the form of occasional turn-based combat – which is also well done. Overall, a lot of fun. We love the artwork.
Ive definitely enjoyed this game Im hoping Stoic makes Banner saga 4 as a spin-off using other characters point of view show a new side to the banner saga lore or a prequel.
Superbly crafted. With lots of interesting characters and backstories, and a very cool and beautifully made world. Even the tactical tile based battling, which we're not usually a fan of, is so much better than any other of its kind Ive tried and Im thoroughly enjoying it along with all other aspects of the game. Love the difficulty too and Im only playing on normal so far. This game has everything you could want. Easily the best mobile game Ive ever played.
If you enjoy and good story, and love turned based battles. This game is for you. No its not a 3D mega game, but thats part of the charm of this masterpiece. This was our first strategic rpg if this kind. Im not sure Ill ever find a game that tops it. Maybe banner saga 3.
This is the single greatest app we have ever bought. Beautiful artwork, amazing music, and a deep, rich compelling story. This game not only succeeds in continuing a great series (or should we say saga) but outdoes its predecessor in every way. We were left desperate for more by the games end, and could easily play the whole thing again.
Just as great as the first one. Beautiful art, music, characters, and interesting story. The only problem we have is a couple of the fights are ridiculously hard even on easy mode. The one under the mountain is really difficult and glitches in a couple spots where the characters cant move. We had to replay that fight at least 10 times. Another hard fight is later on the bridge. We had such a difficult time with it, we had to put the game away for a month before we wanted to try again. And the ending was a little less satisfying than last time. Still great but definitely left us surprised that was where it ended.
So much fun! Artwork just as beautiful as BS1 also.
Ive been missing Galdius (killed 2 of our ps2s lol) and needed a turned based fix. This met and exceeded our expectations! Bravo, and thank you.
Loved this game can't wait for the sequel.
The Banner Saga 2 is the best kind of sequel. Its the kind that takes all of the best parts of the first game and refines them to make it better. It adds new character and gameplay that keep the game fresh and fun. We were originally disappointed that we missed the Picking up BS2 when it was on sale for 4.99. But even though we paid full price for the game ($9.99) it is still worth every penny. If you have played this game on a different platform Im sure its a Great experience. But if you want the best gameplay experience IOS is the way to go. We cannot wait to see how Stoic wraps up this epic saga.
We havent played BS1 and dont normally play RPGs, but we tried this out & im hooked. Gameplay is easy to understand. The art & writing are fantastic.
And its a beautiful one. Its atmospheric, fun,and so engrossing to play. This is a tactical strategy with an intiguing backstory.
Amazing artwork, great storyline, overall an addicting, awesome game.
First things first…THIS GAME AND ITS SEQUEL ARE WITHOUT A DOUBT, The top 5 Games you could get on this platform. Due to BS Ive bought this game and the second one twice…But it is MORE THAN WORTH IT! The story, the voice acting, the setting, the decision making (NOT BLACK AND WHITE AND BELIEVE ME YOU CANNOT PREDICT THE RESULTS OF YOUR CHOICES LIKE A MASS EFFECT STYLE GAME) There arnt enough compliments we can give this game (and BS2) So summarizing….IF YOU LIKE TURN BASED STRATEGY, Fantasy, RPGs, Or Are looking for a good story…BUY THESE GAMES….YOU MOST CERTAINLY WILL NOT REGRET IT. Love and respect everyone. -Jim.
