Aside from a few CAVE titles, this is our favorite iOS shmup. Its just all around wonderful. Lots of different ships with different weapons. Crazy scoring multipliers and bonuses. The port is really well done with good graphics options (SCANLINES!). Also, some reviews complain about controls; the relative touch is not 1:1 because the various ships have different speeds. The developer had agreed to implement 1:1 relative touch for the whiners but they will have their own separate GC leaderboard for cheating.
If you like SNK games this is a wonderful translation of a classic shooter. STILL THOUGH, NO SAMURAI SHODOWN?
This game has great graphics, tons of variety in characters/ships, and huge bosses. The controls are the only thing causing us to not give it 5 stars. These types of games demand precise control and this game controls adequate at best. Still fun and certainly worth $3.
This is a great game and plays beautifully on Icade. Please release more SNK on iPad.

Often resulting in a ridiculous loss of lives. This needs addressing for sure. Other than that, another perfect port! Bring em all SNK!!
Once we saw the title we clicked the install button but you guys really let us down with the controls. Is there anyway to speed them up.
We dont mind not having auto fire but it needs a virtual joystick or dpad.
Confusing menu. It’s not obvious that u must press the buttons a second time to make a selection.
We have two v1 iPads. Games works on one and gives blank screen on the other ( with cellular connection) not sure why.
This is a faithful emulated version of the game, with good pixel scaling and expected options. However, the touch controls need some work. We’re willing to allow the fact that slide control isn’t as easy to implement compared to R-Type and EDF due to the different character speeds or even built-in NeoGeo technical challenges, but an autofire option seems like it should have been a foregone conclusion — auto by default, then hold a button to charge shots, right? Not so here. In addition, the button sizes on the iPhone version are a little too small, especially the joystick — a scaling option would be appreciated. Nevertheless, it’s a suitable emulation that just needs a little more care in the control.
The dpad has awful spacing and sensitivity. Space invaders infinity gene did this best, but we’re not certain that solution would help this game. We feel SNK should rework the level pacing to fit the slower, less responsive nature of touchscreen controls. That way, the game will feel more natural on the device.
This is not only a classic shooter – but one of the all time greats. Great graphics, sound, gameplay… Add up to one the best Shoot-em Ups of all time. So when we saw that this was available as an app for the iphone we were beyond stoked. And everything is there. The only problem is that the control just does not work. We are not sure if the detection is off or what but you can’t have the types of delay that we’ve experienced with this in a bullet heavy SHMUP, and it’s everything from being able to move the ship to the fire button. We do not know how they are going to fix it, but until they do you should wait. The reality is that the game is not playable with the current control set-up. We do not believe we are the only one logging this particular complaint either. Lots of folks gave this a 5 star rating (which is fine based on the game’s actual merits), but without the ability to actually play it we can’t give it the rating we also think it deserves.
Slow to load. Boring and silly.
This could be such a great game. But the joypad is terrible. There’s so much lag between your finger movements and ship it’s maddening.
Runs very slow in menu. Black screen with sound in game. Unplayable.
Need Auto shot and Fast Move(Smartphone Mode) Update Patch Plz.
In the 90s we dreamed of one day having a neo geo system to play these arcade games at home, and now we can do it anywhere. This game is fantastic, a brilliant side-scrolling shooter with guts and charm. Some reviews say its not perfect and maybe those folk had the OG system or played it endlessly at the arcade but none of that matters if youre just looking for a great arcade shooter for iOS. Its worth the price and your time.

The emulation is not cycle exact, and the level 2 parallax scrolling flickers horribly. Its distracting and almost unplayable that way. How did this pass QC? Plays better on our Raspberry Pi 3 than on our much more powerful iPhone, ironically.
Game is great SNK classic. Great port, but on iPad 9.7, stage 2 background is glitchy. If dotemu fixes this it will be great once again. Please update, & thanks for keeping the classics alive!
The sky background on level 1 and the level 2 glitches out.
There are numerous game breaking bugs that make this unplayable. We cant believe this is even on the App Store . Dont waste your money.
When playing the game on ios version 13 on an iphone 7 plus the games buttons cover the whole screen blocking out the ability to move around the screen and actually getting a good look where the enemies are. Please update this to be compatible with the current ios version.
PLEASE UPDATE GAME. We have massive buttons on our screen covering up the gameplay…. Have mercy :(
Another great SNK game on our iPhone! Keep the classics coming guys. Controls seem a little sluggish on touch but manageable. Much better when using our icade jr. Still a great overall game to have on the go.
SNK made some fantastic games back in the day, this game blows many modern games out of the park. Dotemu did a great job porting as everything flows nicely, controls are smooth, and there are many options.
Please update to current version of iOS. It’s the one game we spend the most time playing!

The Bluetooth 2 player mode doesn’t work. Gave it 2 stars for single player mode.

Please fix to use the video options on IOS 7, as it is now they are useless. We would like to use 4:3 with scan lines!
No improvements have been implemented for the multiplayer mode. Only single player is worthwhile. Stay away if u like coop.
Solid game that deserves a play from fans of the genre.
This port of Blazing Star looks and plays quite well. The touch controls take some getting used but with added the iCade support we think that the devs have provided the best control solutions. Our biggest gripe with this game is that the graphics settings don’t stick. We do hope they fix that.
Thank you so much for adding a fast touch mode and auto fire It makes the game so much more playable on IOS and the perfect shooter on the go. You guys really know how to give the fans what they want. 5 stars!!
