Description

Boxville is 2-in-1: an animated film and a puzzle game.

Boxville is an adventure puzzle game about speechless cans living in the city of boxes and drawing doodles on cardboards to tell the stories.
Boxville is good for playing alone to dive into the atmosphere and challenge your brain with sophisticated logic puzzles and riddles, or playing with a friend or family to share unique audio-visual experiences and solve the puzzles together.

Design
The core idea of the game is that it’s not just a game – but also an animated film that you can watch and play at the same time.
We designed Boxville’s gameplay with the purpose of taking away your anxiety and stress. You can explore and observe the world without rushing and pressure.
The game is full of environmental quests and logical puzzles that we have carefully picked from among hundreds of options.

Story
Boxville is a city of boxes populated with old cans. They live quiet and happy lives with their everyday routines and habits. But one day, unexplained earthquakes disturbed their idyll…
Blue Can (our hero) lost his best friend because of that. He started his search but it is not so easy to move through the city after earthquakes. He has to find a way to move forward, return the friend back home and discover the real reason for all those earthquakes. There are many adventures, new friends and it’s not only friends that are waiting for him on the way.
He has to be curious, inventive, careful, and to help others, to reach his goal.

What you can expect to see and hear in Boxville:

  • Hand-drawn graphics — all backgrounds and characters are carefully drawn by our artists.
  • Every animation and sound is created especially for each interaction.
  • Unique music track was created for every scene to accomplish the atmosphere of the game.
  • Tens of logical puzzles and mini-games are tightly incorporated into the story of the game.
  • There are no words in the game — all characters communicate via cartoony speechbubbles.

Added support for iOS 13, iOS 14 and iOS 15

Boxville Reviews

We love being a little can on a mission, and for the most part enjoy the lack of words. But after stepping away and losing progress on a couple of puzzles because the autosave wasnt keeping up, we wanted to save the game manually. We followed symbols for what looked like saving, but instead accidentally deleted our progress up to that point. Save people the frustration and provide rudimentary labels in the settings please! We were far enough in that we dont want to start over.

We love point and click adventure games like this and Im always excited to see a new one releasedwhich, unfortunately, rarely happens anymore. We just started playing this game and it reminds us a lot of Cotton games with a bit of Amanita mixed in – a great combination! The graphics and audio are absolutely amazing. This is the type of game that you really should take your time, explore everything and appreciate all the little details. We highly recommend going to the developer website and reading the premise of the game before you start. It helped us understand what the game was about and we wouldnt have gotten the earthquake part if we hadnt done that. We also learned that the developers are in Ukraine and Im happy to support them. This is a high quality game and worth every penny, but we do have a few suggestions for the developers. A hint feature would be nice because we’ve already had to resort to the YouTube walkthrough and its a pain to find the one thing you need help with in an hour long video. The main character needs to walk faster because there is a fair amount of walking/waiting in the game. And lastly, we wish the inventory items were either larger or labeled with what they are. Some of the items are too small and difficult to identify. We’ve had to use the walkthrough just because we had no idea what an item was. Overall, these things are minor and Im still able to enjoy the game.

Fun way to get away from the every pressured world. Thank you.

This was a very sweet game, in the old-fashioned sense of the word. We enjoyed the characters, there were some good puzzles, and only had to use a walk-through once. Very chill, and lovely images.

We absolutely LOVE this game. We feel like its in the same category as Lumino City and the Cotton Games. Please make more!!

What a great game! Has a little bit of a machinarium look and play to it. It was pretty challenging but not too hard.. Our only complaint was that it was short.. It was definitely worth playing but we wish there was more because it was that good! Definitely recommend!

We only wish this game couldve gone on longer. Its our favorite game in a couple years, and we cant wait to see what this developer does next. This game is really reminiscent of the Amanita Design games, if you like that style. The art is fantastic and puzzles are great. We were determined not to cheat and look at a walk-through, and we didnt. We made it all the way through. Some of the puzzles are very challenging. But they are all logical, and you will not be aggravated with any of them when you discover the solutions, unlike some games. We hope to see more!

We really enjoyed playing this fun game. The puzzles are not repetitive. The whole experience was very enjoyable.

This was challenging in all the right ways. Only complaintTOO SHORT! Definitely a $2.99 length game.

We really enjoy this game. We find is difficult to play on iPhone given the small screen. We downloaded to our iPad and it started again at the beginning. Using same Game Center id and am recognized. Game Center setting on 2nd device has a record log of our progress on our first device, but game doesnt open at that point. Im not sure if the app itself does not permit this, but we dont have the same issue with other Game Center games. Very frustrating.

This game feels a bit derivative, but if it is, its very well executed. We enjoyed it. Our only complaint is that the washing machine coin puzzle interface is just too obscure. We dont see how one could figure that out except by luck and thrashing about.

Its cute, but not much fun after you cant do anything but theres nowhere to look to see if Im missing something.

We could easily have given the game a 5 star if it werent for so many technical issues. An example, putting the token in the dryer, most recent is the ball puzzle. Its really frustrating. We have uninstalled and reinstalled twice, shut off to many times to count. Disappointing.

Maybe some words would be helpful? Thought we were saving our game we were deleting the save we had and restarting it. So not gonna play it now till that frustration wears off.

Update: lowered our rating because we just cant play with an Apple Pencil which is the only way we can play games because of our physical issues. We wish theyd warn us before we bought it. Because of neurological problems, we really cant use our fingers to play games and we use our pencil. For some reason this game doesnt work with it though, so we really tried to play but we could not. When they fix that issue, we will try again.

We almost gave up on the very first screen. But we stuck with it after the first interaction and its been great since. There is def some walking back and forth and some items are hard to see/interact on our iPhone 14 pro max (I just zoomed in when needed) but the puzzles are clever and just hard enough and the art is drawn in that grungy-yet-cute-steampunk-style ala Machinarium. Love it.

Gorgeous art and well designed puzzles. There was one moment where we got stuck because we didnt understand the interface to a puzzle, but probably most people will figure it out through persistence. Very happy to spend 3-4 hours in this delightful miniature world, well done developers!

Its not too long, but this game is very cute. The only issue is that the inventory and items could be a little bigger.

This game reminded us of Machinarium, though not quite so big. The game has beautiful artwork and good sounds and the puzzles are challenging enough to be interesting but not so much to be frustrating.

Ok, agreed. Its on the shorter side (compared to maybe a Glitch game). But theres a lot of beauty and fun packed into this game. The characters are darling. The storyline is simpleeach character tells you what happened to them through comic-style art. And like true adventure point-n-click gamingits our job to help! There arent many games out there like this. Especially games without violence and occult themes. So if you like this style of game, imho its important to support these kinds of clever developers. And the price? Yes its worth it. A cup of coffee or movie ticket costs 2-3x this price. And the amount of work that goes into these games is priceless. Devs: the inventory trayand thus each itemis quite small. So if you make another game, descriptions of the inventory items would be helpful. :)

This will scratch that itch. Lovely graphics, sweet gameplay, interesting puzzles. Just wish it was much longer!

This game was really cute and fun. There are no words or speaking in the game, only pictures which can be a little confusing to interpret. We had some difficulty understanding the settings and accidentally restarted the game. The graphics are outstanding and the gameplay was smooth. Overall, we really enjoyed it. Just wish it was a bit longer.

We didnt play much of this game. It doesnt work with Apple Pencil and the screen size is for iPhones, not iPads. Maybe the screen size gets bigger after the tutorial, but we couldnt get there without Apple Pencil support.

We have paid way less for a way more interactive game. Too easy.

Story, graphics and puzzles are perfect!

Gorgeous hand-drawn art, similar vibe to Samarost. Well worth the price – plenty of game. We hope Triomatica will make more games!

This is a great game. No hint feature so sometimes had to find a walkthrough but the lack of dialogue was a nice change from most games. Loved the story line and got a little sad at first during the ending. Beautifully done!!

If only developers would make more of these incredible games. This was so darling and reminded us of a Machinarium light we miss the days when more games like this were made.

To the developer – youve got a bug in the first board. After the can on the goes back up the ladder and out the door, if you go back up the stairs to where you pushed the locker earlier, the entire scene resets itself and the locker appears again and you push it back on the ladder. The potter tree also reappears. The shears are also back in the locker but you cant tie the rope to the tree thus clearing the board again. Please fix. Game is not playable. Or please refund.

This game reminds us a lot of Machinarium. And thats not a bad thing.
