Player Experience Highlights

Community Insight:

It is such an awesome board game with hundreds, if not thousands of lifetime plays possible and the app is an exceptionally well done adaptation. Sometimes a bit hard to find online opponents but even solo plays or v. AI are great. Wish they had expansion packs / variants available in-app.

A very relaxing yet puzzly experience. Love the theme too.

We finished our first solo game and it was fun to play. The board is colorful and clean and the music and sounds are calming. The rules are easy to understand. This is excellent.

Great for light strategy when a little free time or sleeplessness rolls around. High-quality with great polish.

We dont think Ive ever left a review for an app, but given how smooth and flawless this Cascadia implementation is, we felt compelled to write this. Its just fun. If you like Cascadia, but, like many others, cant always get physical games to the table, this will scratch your itch. If we had to ding it, it would be for the thing thats the most difficult for developers to do: the AI. The AI, especially in the challenges, just isnt that good. We tend to absolutely torch it.

Best adaptation of a physical board game into an app. Love it our favorite game. Just needs more expansions to buy.

It just feels right. Its satisfying on the phone. Wish it was around sooner.

So happy this game is finally on line! Works really good.

Love it when our favorite board game goes digital. Looks great, plays the same. Well done.

Well done on the game! Was considering getting the board game and decided to try the app first, now we're looking forward to playing it in person with friends or family. The music however, is really bad. We think if the acoustic guitar and percussion is removed, you'd have a perfectly suitable soundtrack. Especially the menu screen music – just expand upon that and keep the sloppy folky acoustic guitar/cajon out of the mix.

We were just recently taught the board game and then found this app. Overall it is pretty great. We do wish there was a way to disable all of the animations. There is a lot moving on the screen during gameplay and we find that pretty distracting. We also wish there was a 2d/flat top down view similar to the Catan iPad game. Otherwise, its nice to have an easy way to play while not having access or space for the physical game.

We play almost exclusively as pass and play. Every time we start a game we need to re-enter our player names. It would be great if we could setup local players.

Overall the app plays great just like the boardgame! However, Ive found that the iPad gets very warm due to the amount of graphics and animations. Didnt see any settings to turn off animations, etc. So adding some settings to let us reduce the animations and graphics would be nice. For example, the flickering bobbing acorn could be reduced to something like a small gold acorn that stays for a few moments to indicate you got one.

This has been a great game for late night solo play action when everyone else is gone to bed. Our matches with the AI have been very tight. We found the gameplay smooth, and the tutorial was very helpful in that we had not played our copy of the cardboard for a couple years. We have to ding it though because it has a bug where and we cant see the bonus token icon on the four hexagonal tiles in the offer until we drag one into play only then does the little white up arrow appear. That is a nuisance. You want to be able to see the white arrow bonus icon when youre looking at the tiles, considering choosing one.

The game itself is great. Unfortunately, the cross device sync doesnt work. Im signed in with both Game Center and a Dire Wolf account and progress on our iPad doesnt show up on our phone.

Would be nice if it would let us sign in or register since we need it to play online. Im stuck with playing the AI. Not pleased.

The details they put into each tile and sounds for each animal make this an even more enjoyable play. We enjoy playing solo and with this app it gives us all the challenges found in the box in a more convenient way to play. Fantastic work Dire Wolf! Cant wait for the Isle of Cats app to drop at the end of the month.

DireWolf is such a fantastic developer, it's hard for us to find the words. Not hyperbole. The quality of their board game adaptations has to be seen to be believed. From the music, to the tutorials, to the daily challenges, every one of their games has such amazing atmosphere and charm. Cascadia is no different. Beautifully implemented. Another success for DW.

Would it be too much to ask for full screen support on this? Feels cheap for the price tag.

If you love playing Cascadia, this is a lovely way to do so. Ive been playing it daily. Surprisingly, it falls into more of a zen puzzle experience for us then some other digital board games. Pass and play is implemented well. So it is also a great way to get a quick game of Cascadia in without the setup/put-away of the actual game. Our minor criticisms are the following. At least on older iPads (like ours), the battery drain is worse than a vampire at an all-you-can-eat-human-buffet. Caught us by surprise. Would be great if Dire Wolf worked out a way to turn off some of the particle effects and such. Another thing that would likely be too much a lift at this point of the release, after scoring has concluded, a way to review how each thing scored on each board. That feels like a missed opportunity for those that can struggle with how to score some of the more complicated animal variants. That said, we still get about 2 rounds of the game in a day worth the money and the battery headaches.

We've been playing this almost non-stop for the last 3 days. Terrific implementation with a good user interface. We love the variety of options included. Although online multiplayer is included, we rarely play online, so we were thrilled to see the many solo challenges and options. For this to be such a new released, we've been very impressed with how stable the game has been. We've encountered a brief server interruption a couple of times, but it's always been brief and reconnected quickly. If you have a compatible iPad, it's highly recommended.

Dire Wolf has done it again with another excellent game. The interface is smooth. Gameplay is solid. The tutorial is great. Im having a lot of fun with it. Dire Wolfs games are always an automatic purchase for us.

Played physical version last year in a board game club then searched online and found it was going to release digital version. Now we can play it portably! Hope more board games can do this in the future.

We own this game on Steam as well, and its a fantastic re-creation of the board game Cascadia and works incredibly well on the iPad. The digital game is made for a touch screen.
