What Makes Casual Mancala Stand Out
Play for free one of the oldest known games Mancala Kalah from Africa. Download Mancala, also known as Mancala Bao, a classic board game which is a smart and funny entertainment.
Play with the computer and choose one of the five levels of difficulty:
- beginner
- easy,
- medium,
- hard,
- expert.
Whether you're a beginner and prefer simple mancala or an expert and prefer to play mancala hard, in our game you will find different mancala levels. Also now, during the game, you can see which level you are playing at.
At the beginning, only an easy level is unlocked. To unlock the mancala levels you need to win at the previous, simpler level. Practice and unlock all four levels of difficulty!

Mancala Rules
The game board consists of two rows. Each player owns six cups or holes and one reservoir, a large cup also named mancala zone. At the beginning of the game, the player finds four stones (or pieces) in every cup.
Players put stones repeatedly in a counterclockwise direction. To begin, the player takes the stones from any cup on his side of the game board – leaving empty this cup that he has already taken the stones. The player put pieces through all twelve cups and his mancala zone (which is on the right of the gameboard) but not the opponent's reservoir (on the left of the gameboard).
Go-again play
If the last stone lands in your reservoir, the turn is yours and you can take another move.
Cross-capture
If the last stone lands in an empty cup on your side of the board and there is one or more stones in the adjacent hole on your opponent's side of the mancala board, you capture these opponent's stones and yours last one.
End of the game
The game ends if all six cups on the side of each player are empty. The one who has more pieces captured in his mancala zone wins.
Different names of Mancala games
Games from the same group have various rules and names. The most popular ones are:
- Mancala Bao – a complex strategy game of Kenya, Zanzibar, Tanzania, Comoros, Malawi and some areas of Burundi. The board size is 4×8.
- Mancala Kalah – known as the children's game . The board size is 2×6 with reservoirs.
- Kalaha Mancala – played in the central part of Africa.
- Oware or Awele also known as Ayo, Awari, Ouri or J’odu. This is the national game of Ghana. The board is 2×6 with reservoirs.

We enjoy the game but $50 for no ads and some extras is way out of line. We have seen other games for $4.99 but not $50. Will be interesting to see if there are purchasers.
We like this game because you can play it with stones in real life.
Beginner mode is easy, but there is some weird thing going on with easy mode. It is VERY hard! We can barely win 20% of games. The AI plays very capably! Yet, when we go to medium mode, Ive won the vast majority of our games. Ive only played one hard game and won that. But again, EASY mode is impossible. Weird. Oh, and too many long ads. We always quit after one game and shut down the app. That way, we dont face any ads.
Un-skippable ads after every single round is crazy. We get it. But its so excessive. Theres better ways to incorporate ads into a game without making it nearly impossible to play. This is the best mancala game on the market but its unfortunately been ruined. And seeing how this is the main thing that people complain about and nothing has changed in two years, it seems like were just out of luck. How unfortunate.
AI opponents mandalas are empty but it doesnt end the game.
There are way too many advertisements, they are forced to be watched as there is no skip option, and they are too long. They are also just pushing other bad games with just as many advertisements. There is also no two player option. (There is an online mode, but no way to play two players on the same device).
Even though it says your playing online you really just playing against robots its designed to make you think you doing good and then when your up a lot of money it puts you against impossible opponents and sends you on a losing streak until your feathers are gone and you have to buy some or watch an ad.
If you download this looking to be able to play against other players you will be disappointed. We wait, and wait, and wait Player two never does anything.
The game cheats once you get to the expert level . That takes the fun out of the game. We wouldnt recommend this one.
Best version out of all the Mancala games offered.
- This game, like many other basic games, lacks one key piece of information: the rules. How do moves work? How do continuations work? So many times we make a move and it is not clear why the game takes extra actions or allows us to make another move. Please provide instructions. 2. The game tells you it is your turn by flashing your pits. If you miss it you may be waiting for the other player when is really your turn. Need some sort of static turn indicator. 3. When an automatic move or score is made please share a reason why message. This helps the player understand what is going on. Otherwise we like the graphics and stone drop movements and scoring numbers.
Loooong and no purchase option make this game short lived on our phone. Otherwise good ui.
It would be fun but there are so many ads you cant even enjoy the game.
Great app…better than the others. But you can only can play in avalanche mode. And it has WAY TOO many ads. The ads are usually 10-15 secs between every other game.
Had to delete. We dont mind an Ad, but these ads were way too long.
Ive beat the expert level twice and it doesnt allow us to actually win, it has some weird rule to make sure you cant win. Sort of a bummer. Plenty of other mancala apps though, that actually follow the traditional rules! :).
Im sorry about the one star but we didnt really enjoy the game, its just not how we learned to play it and we dont like it. It would be cool if you could add a way to make the rules different, like house rules. We always play where you keep moving till you hit an empty space.
When playing with both sound and music muted in settings of game, it creates a creepy, pulsating white noise sound coming from the speaker of our iPhone. It…it knows. Theyre listening!! Other than that a really fun version of Mancala. We like how you can choose your level of difficulty so you can practice and get better and better. Ive annihilated the expert level a few times now!! Im stilled learning all the outcomes though and Im sure we will be unstoppable soon! It would be 5 stars if it werent for all the annoying ads. Booohhh! Just let us play. Also. Please stop frying our brain with that weird pulsating white noise sound.
You can not steal another opponents pebble and add it to your bucket.
Its got all of the basics of a really good game. We would recommend a couple of easy changes, though. First, a two-player mode would be great, preferably pass-n-play. Online would be great for the future, but get local going, first. Second, more difficulty settings. The difficulty ramps up VERY quickly. More in between options would be great. Also, when we tried watching an ad to undo, it put us through the ad but did not undo. That is a frustrating glitch that might cause low ratings. We recommend fixing it as soon as possible. Overall, a good app with potential.
Fun to play except for the ads. We spend more time waiting for the ads to finish than we do playing the game.
The game play is 6 stars (the best mancala app in the app store). However, the ads kill all the fun. Hence, 2 stars from us, and we believe that makes justice Making this much quality app free would be a generous donation to the public good. And so, we would be happy to pay for removing ads or buying an ad-free version.
This was a fantastic game; now adds get stuck and freeze. The game will not resume to play. Hope it gets fixed! Love this game when it worked.
We advise you not to download this app. We recently downloaded it and our phone started acting funny which has never happened before (and we have the latest up to date iPhone). Right when we deleted the app our phone returned back to normal. Weird that it ask you to accept something about "privacy" before downloading it. Download at your own caution.

We loved this app until the recent update. Now there is a 30 second ad as soon as you launch the app, 30 second ads between each 5 minute game, and more 30 second ads if you want to undo a move. We used to play everyday, but now, nope, not fun anymore. The game was perfect the way it was. We wish we could undo the update.
The game play is good. And originally, the ads were bearable. Obtrusive, but not too frequent and you could skip after a few seconds. But the most recent update ruined the playability of the game and you will be bombarded annoying, poorly made ads that you cannot skip. Deleting this app.
Like the game. Like the leveling up. Ads are too loud. Im more like to click on ads that dont blast our ears.
This app is ok but the marbles move weird.
