Fantastic idea, almost perfectly implemented. Very fun and well designed. Both chess and poker skills matter, which we didnt expect. We have two qualms. First, there is a lot of downtime between hands. The game makes a big deal of telling you what happened in the previous hand, then takes a couple seconds to bet and a couple seconds to deal. This creates an unnecessary lag between hands, and slows the game down. Second, we think that opening antes rise too quickly and without enough warning. We have won/lost many games where one player is dealt bad cards four-five times in a row, folds each time, and then just loses the game. Given the amount of variance in poker, we think that number should be a bit higher. Besides these small issues, its a great game that any fan of chess or poker should try.
The concept is incredible, and its a wonderful game, but the app is unplayable. Its so laggy we cant do it on our phone, and have to do it on our iPad. You also cant queue a game without it booting you out of the game or force stopping. Basically every action you try to take results in getting kicked. Also, please please please add more chess sets, the default one is atrocious. Make the game less heavy, and fix getting kicked when doing anything and its an immediate 5 star review from us. We also bought the pack with the extra set because we hate the default one so much, and it took our money and then crashed without giving us the pack, so Im double upset about that.
The waiting time to be given more chips is insane. Meanwhile we play what we assume are RMTers who go all in every hand because 4K chips is a joke to their parents credit card. This app is trash. So are all pay to play games and apps. Why we put up with this as a society is beyond us.
This is actually a clever concept and a fun game. Ever since the last bug fixes, theres no more glitches. Being able to premove the chess pieces was a great much needed improvement. The only thing missing now is the ability to pic an avatar that actually looks like us (or at least be able to upload our own photo). Overall we recommend it.
Great concept but there is a single optimal placing strategy and white is always at a constant disadvantage because black is always able to counter play during placement. Main problem we have is the offline mode, where the Ai will quit if you dont have good cell service or WiFi. Isnt it supposed to be offline mode?
Great game has potential but terrible app. Theres a bug that awarded our chips to the opponent player. Not sure developers would do much about it since you would have to put real money if you run out of chips. Also everything is real slow while youre playing. Poorly made app.
They did a good job its really fun and combines both games well. Also somehow no ads.
We really like the idea of this game, we also enjoy playing it. However, base on our experience on being mediocre at playing chess and having usually bad luck at poker, we really think the players here are either really bad at chess and poker, or they are just bots. This is because of their odd behaviour such as never raising bets even when having queen and players playing such similar moves in placement phase. Only handful of players actually great at chess and they are usually just play at 2000 chips range.
We are new to the concept of choker, so we tried to learn by playing the A.I. And havent tried the pvp function yet. The A.I. Bugs out after 1 or 2 hands. It plays through the poker phase fine, but it will say that the game is canceled and no re-match available. Seems like its always during the transition from poker to placement phase. The concept is wonderful and the game is fun when it works. Id like a version without the betting but same piece selection process for endgame practice too. We considered that the A.I. Is limited since Im using a free version, but we havent run across anything that mentions a limited A.I.
Overall the game concept works, but the app doesnt. Its a nightmare to navigate the menus and do stuff in the actual match. Would not recommend to anyone.
We love the idea of this game. The way they handle internet is terrible. Let us put you in the scenario we were just in. We went all in against our opponent and he ended up having the same except a Queen for our knight. We managed to become up material in the game and take his queen. Then, it said we disconnected for about three seconds. When we reconnected, it said we lost even though we still had about two minutes on the clock before we disconnected. We have pretty good internet. We were able to launch a YouTube video immediately after at 1080p. And its a chess app. If it cant maintain a connection for something so simple and it wont have three seconds of patience for disconnection, then Im going to have to uninstall. We dont want to get robbed of victories we earn as an underdog. Gonna stick to playing the wired game modes on chess. Com. Somehow we dont get disconnected from those and if we happen to, our time just ticks down.
The fact that in a fake gambling game there is a huge portion taken out for a house cut is disgusting and just serves to make you buy in game currency by rapidly removing money from the game.
The game is good but lags a bit. The thing that is weird to us is how expensive the house fee is. After playing with someone (we both had 25k) our opponent walked away with 16k and we walked away with 26k. So much money just disappeared.
We really like the conception of the game. Excellent balance of chess and poker. Still some major glitches in the app, eg freezes when a player leaves during a game.
We’ve played hours of this game and its great, but they really need to improve rake size. Thats the only glitch we’ve encountered. One time our opponent and we were both all in at 5k, but after the game we noticed we only had a gain of 3k. Great game though, would recommend.
So we lost our first game to time. Second game we picked the maximum pot and was winning and the player just left. Deleting this garbage.
We could play this game for hours. Unfortunately, the game doesnt calculate winnings properly (both players can finish a match with more than they started) and if someone calls you during a game you immediately lose everything that you bet.

Freezes way to much. The leaderboards wont load. Submit in the tournament registration wont work. Pre moves are a great idea. We cant put it on our computer. We cant link multiple devices it only shows the device your using in the list, so each time we change from iPad to iPhone we have to log in again. The game concept itself is great though. Our two favorite games in one. One other suggest is to separate the piece placement time from game play time. We love the game though.
Leader boards and cash spins are broke and more bugs Im sure. Fix!
Really great concept, such a shame the implementation is lousy. Tons of bugs and connection issues. Would change to 5 star if fixed.
Whenever Im winning a match and the player disconnects, we lose the amount thats in the pot. People can troll whenever theyre upset about losing a position this way. You cannot play this game knowing that this issue exists. That is the main bug that needs to be addressed. Other than that, there are just a few bugs, like some perpetual loading screens we’ve stumbled upon. Incorrect text such as your opponent has won or something along those lines, even when we win.
Such a good idea. Such horrible execution. Its a buggy buggy thing. Youll have a big pot, and then the connection will be lost. And then youll lose all your chips. Youll win a pot, but your chips dont got up. And then of course they have the audacity to charge you for chips. Its not unplayable but its pretty darn close.
Its chess with a tiny bit of poker. A better implementation would be a hold em style of game. As it stands now, it comes down to your chess skills plus the luck of drawing power pieces.
Great idea but match making is flawed with being able to be matched with someone buying in with 5 times as many chips as you. The detection on placing and moving pieces is also off. The way demotions work in their current state is also done poorly.
This game has potential and is fun when it works, but sending and receiving friend requests hasnt worked for us yet, it keeps glitching and saying we havent sent or received any. Each online game we’ve played our opponent has left in the first round and we have lost chips due to this, and as the chips can be purchased with real money this is literally losing people money. Again fun game, hope it is addressed so that it can be more playable.
The recent update has caused the app to freeze. We have lost so many of our games. As son as the game ends and when we won the game freezes before getting back to home page. So we have to force quit the app and restart it. It’s happening on every game. We will have to stop using if it pertains as we keep losing chips. Are you guys doing something about this recent update which caused a bug. We have won so many games and they all freeze at the end after it says we choke mated them. Im so frustrated right now after losing over 100M and wasting time. Poor app support. Revert the previous update. Game never ends anymore. We played with AI as well.
We tried to play and both games the app crashed. This should still be in Alpha. Very slow load times between screens, feels clunky. Poor execution on a good idea.
Glitchy as heck and when your opponent quits mid game you lose all the chips you put in the pot. Not worth the stress, just play chess. Such a disappointment.
Game concept is awesome, and Id love to get a set of cards for myself to play over an actual board. The app doesnt really work. There are tons of bugs that make it pretty unplayable. In fact Id say its probably more common than not that theres an error that requires an app restart.
If your opponent leaves the match, you lose all your chips in play. So if you are all in and winning, your opponent just leaves if you have the better hand, and you lose all your chips. Sounds too unbelievable to be true, but it is.
This is a bad app. We have barely ever gotten through a full match without a glitch, usually forcing us to quit the app and restart. The other peoples complaints about the rake size and leaderboards are also totally valid and super annoying. HOWEVER, The concept is just about the most fun game idea we’ve played. It frustrates the hell out of us that this hasnt caught on more, because if we could play this game with an app that people would actually want to use, we would be incredibly happy. Getting reviews from Hikaru and Eric Rosen is great, but we think with a functional app this could really take off, and we hope it does sometime in the future.
Decent, a little slow and clunky. Its a fun idea, but mostly we end up getting bots as opponents, it is obvious.
This app is a lot of fun, but there are some crippling bugs that can make you lose a lot. We were in the middle of a game, one move from checkmate with all our chips on the line. Then the opposing player moved his king to an illegal square. A message popped up saying a bug was detected, and then the app shut down. We did not get our chips in the end. We’ve had other problems where it freezes a lot or it doesnt let us back into the current game when we close the app and reopen it. We’ve also seen the all of the pieces turn completely transparent, and we’ve only had this game for 2 days…
We were playing the computer as practice. The computer flagged and got a draw because 3 pawns is not enough material you can checkmate with only 2 without promoting. One of our pawns was on the 7th rank. This is really stupid.
Fun game. The people we’ve played so far are not good at chess. Biggest issue is that connection lost issues occasionally come up and we immediately lose the pot. Never have such connection issues with other games.
Ridiculous bug: a back rank mate will often bug out and award the pot to the opponent, when he should have been mated in one move! This happens any time we try to mate on the 1st or 8th rank. If the opponent can block with one piece (to delay mate), the board bugs out and the enemy king randomly appears where the piece would have blocked. Issues: -Major issue: bet sizing on this app indicates that the developers have never played poker. Its very difficult to make a reasonable sized bet when the starting option on the bet slider is 100 times the Pot. -Major issue: rake in these pots is 10% or even more. This is obviously designed to remove chips from the game and force players to buy chips -No draw (split pot) by agreement option -No chat.
This app is filled with bugs. We havent been able to play much because it keeps crashing in the middle of a match. From what we have been able to play, we’ve gotten the sense that the game is more about being lucky than skilled. The chess part of the game is pretty silly because there arent enough pieces to feel like Im playing a game of chess. We guess you only get five cards so it feels like poker but it would be better with more.
We saw someone playing this on YouTube and thought it was a fantastic idea, and we were excited because we think Id really like the game. We download it and try to play public match but we just sit there while it attempts to make a match. This doesnt change when we press the button to only wait up to 60 seconds and it keeps on going. After trying for 20 minutes we gave up because it has yet to put us in a match.
When matchmaking, we’ve done a careful analysis that every single person we’ve played (in match). Our conclusion is that THEY ARE ALL BOTS. 1. Everyone starts off the same position given a set of pieces. 2. No one plays like a human would. No tacky strategies, and would always 100% catch every one step tactics. They would also never try to be aggressive. 3. You can almost always flag and win, even with no pieces. 4. Opponents always instantly want to rematch (100% of the time) and buy in the same number as you? Is there just not enough people online playing?
Constant crashes mid-game, very slow to switch screens, no premoves and very slow to drag- and thats all if Im lucky enough for it to actually open the game. All that being said, its a great idea and Im excited to change this review when its functional!
Super fixed. Dont mix poker and chess. You get a fixed app with bot and tool assisted players.

We’ve been looking for a half decent game in this app store most are just lazy and just plain bad but this is amazing it is a good concept with nice graphics and is addictive we love chess (and play in tournaments) poker is something we like to do with friends so when we saw this it was everything we dreamed it would be!!!

Saw YouTube demo by Hikaru, decided to check it out. Love the idea, but it still needs work. The chess part feels very slow, chess pieces are hard to tell apart, switching from piece to piece is not seamless, which is annoying when you are given so little time.
Good concept. Fun game when it works correctly. The app does not deal with people leaving games very well (at all), and freezes often. The controls are slow and often unresponsive. Play a friend option doesnt work. We also lost 20% of our chips because the servers encountered an error while processing a request. Ill play more once the app works.
