Community Insight:
We have used this app for a long time and it has a great variety of problems to solve and works well.
Although, we have played chess for years, we find this a challenging and exciting way to expand your chess move annualizes.
We are an old fart and need o challenge our mind. This does that in spades and perhaps will allow us to play chess again without embarrassing ourselves too badly. We think this is one of the best apps on our iPad. Really love it.
We now realize that Im better at chess than we thought we were. Bobby Guzman.
Such a simple idea taken to perfection.
Perfect for when you dont have enough time to play a game, but want to have a little chess fun.
LOVE THIS CHESS APP! Ive had this App for years of fun and learning. Please help us return your game to our iPhone.
Its fun and fascinating to join in with the great players of the game while you learn some creative moves toward a brilliant checkmate.
We've enjoyed many hours of chess puzzles with this app. Our compliments to the developer.
Easy to use and the puzzles are fun and challenging. We've improved our playing significantly with this app.
We use this app whenever we are waiting- it has a huge set of problems with increasing difficulty. One of the best investments we have made.
We used to play the game a long time ago. This application woke up the chess on us again. Im grateful for that.
Took a break from chess for a bit, but now that Im back we would love to see more puzzles that include more traps and oblique attacks…;).
Really improves your end game and decision making.
Absolutely the best app to sharpen your end game and elevate a comprehensive understanding of offensive and defensive strategies.
If you love Chess or even just know how to play it, this is a great game to play and theres so many ways to approach each level. Our favorite game on iTunes next to Mario Kart.
Most of the games are from important players. It is so easy for a club player like us to see a good move and just play it. This game teaches us to see the board and the best opportunity there, not just a good one. Plus, it is just plain fun knowing you are playing a real game! You can go to the board and see how the victim got into this mess in the first place.
Some of the solutions are just dumb. Mate-in-5 where all your opp is doing is throwing pieces in front of your rook one after the other. Silly. Too many such puzzles. Also, for example on puzzle 440. The solution is wrong. Rh3 there is NOT checkmate. Work on this app.
The The peace movement is severely in accurate make sure you make the wrong move and lose. 99% of the people are cheaters this is for cheaters only!!!!! All of the five star reviews are made by the app owner!!!!!!!!!!!! Takes forever to get a game. Our last review was deleted.
We play a lot of online games against varied opponents and this app has definitely made our play stronger. It has improved our insight and given us confidence. The fact that the games are classic grandmaster games makes it more real. This is probably the BEST Chess puzzle app we have ever played.
What is there to say? The puzzles are a ball and the hint system works well. Highly recommend.
And the game will learn to see you.
We use the ap on muy iPad Air 2, and it works well. We enjoy the ability to choose which level of challenge to take on. It's loads of fun for someone like us, who hasn't played chess in years. The ap is well designed and definitely worth the price. We wish you could toggle off the blue dots that show where pieces can move. (These dots sometimes fail to disappear when shifting to a different piece). But this is a minor issue overall.
We are enjoying this chess app. Passes time and the later position challenge us.
This app has really helped us think through all the possible moves.
Clean simple interface with the options you'd expect and a bit of trivia that adds a little weight to the bite size tasks at hand. Highly recommended.
Love this app!!! One tiny thing… Why do you have to click reset solution twice to reset solution.
Good variety of real-game situations. Increasingly challenging as the moves notch up. No downside if you like chess, or even just as a good brain-teaser.
Love this app!! Not very far in it, seeing as how there's over 600 levels!! But this is the perfect amount of challenging!!! Love it.
Easy to pick up, hard to put down. Wonderful app.
This is an excellent compilation of scenarios.
Thoroughly enjoying this app. Great idea to input actual games with grandmasters for the plebes to attempt to figure out.
This App really keeps your game sharp. Worth every penny.
Truly…if you are looking to perfect your end game what better way to do so than to study the Masters. One of our all time favorite apps.
There is nothing better than trying to find solutions for chess puzzles from the actual games from the masters. A wonderful find.
Excellent! Well thought out and arranged. No crashing. Excellent training tool.
We are thoroughly enjoyed this app. Using it is helping us to hone our chess skills.
Solid app, and a great tool for improving your endgame.
Lots of fun and helps in getting a keen eye for solving problems and is useful in real games.
We have no problem with the insane amount of our life we're devoting to this app. It's one of the best learning tools we've seen since "Bobby Fischer teaches chess".
First time buying an app for iPhone, and we are beyond pleased with the product. Well worth 99.
We purchased this app for .99 and we can honestly say that it doesn't get better than this. The chess computer sometimes moves different than the original game, which is great–sometimes we can solve one, redo it, and take a while to figure out based on the other move it made. Chess books as great, but this tops them all and it's dirt cheap. Another plus, for us, is the custom skin options. We love the Leipzig pieces on gray background. It's so awesome and we wish our other chess apps had those pieces. The next best app is tchess. We were hesitant, but the computer and analyser are AMAZINGLY helpful. Spread the word for these great chess apps.
Great puzzle game and makes you a lot better at Chess.
Very entertaining and informative. The aspect of playing along with the masters gives an added dimension.
This is a great collection of exercises on the tactical side of chess. They are organized staring with mate in two, then three, four, and so on. You can skip around as you like and we're currently at the mate is five section. There's still one mate in four that stumps us though. We love that the computer will play any variation, so you can learn why "your" idea doesn't work. Puzzle hero, another great collection, doesn't do this. We recommend both. Thanks for this great piece of solid work.
Can't believe there are do few reviews of this outstanding chess puzzle app. The best puzzles are from actual games and that's what this gives you in abundance. We've spent hours and hours enjoying it. The app is simple and trouble free. No complaints.
Very fun to kill some time and develop chess skills.
This app collects over 600 mating nets from real games, from two-movers up to over 15 moves. (Top-flight players resign when the net becomes obvious, but this app gives you the chance to administer the satisfying coups de grace, if you can find them.) would that we could find these positions over the board! The app has some rough patches that can be fixed. On our year-old iPad Air, it still crashes if we tap "Previous game" even when there is one to select. There are undocumented functions, such as the mysterious "Figurine notion" we're still trying to observe. Landscape mode, which it lacks, would be nice. A little editing of player names would improve things; we suspect some of the players with different names are really the same ones. (A previous review commented on the delay when you make a "wrong" move, but we can explain that one: there is an evaluation engine that kicks in and generates a response if you don't make the right move.) It would be nice to be able to search for mates by your favorite players. (ours is Lasker.) All in all this is a very nice collection and a fun app for any chess player to have.
Nice from great games from a long history of chess. Beautiful and above all, fun.
We love the challenges but wish it had the ability to explore them a little deeper. We particularly like the historical notes.
