Chessplode is modern chess for everyone, it makes chess fun even if you’re bad ¯_(ツ)_/¯, one simply move… can change all game.
— THE MODERN RULE —
Chessplode is pretty much like chess with a really BIG twist…
- CAPTURE a piece and everything in the same LINE and COLUMN will EXPLODE…
- But if a KING is in that LINE or COLUMN it will be a really boring chess capture (no explosions)
— THINK DIFF… DISTINCT —
This rule is pretty tricky, in regular chess you need to defend your KING, but in Chessplode it can save your pieces.
Remember, you can’t capture some pieces because you could get check.
Sometimes you will checkmate capturing a piece that explodes.
And other you will be afraid of having several pieces in the same line or column…(POP!)

Just the game we didnt realize we needed to be playing.
GetsStuck on the screen where it asked are you an expert chess player: yes or no. Yes or no buttons are half off the screen. And you cannot press them so the game is just stuck.
Its like lichess atomic chess but way more different. Def a strange game.
Sometimes your not put in check when you should be like when our king is next to an enemy rook or then Ill put the king in check with a rook and have a knight protect it and the king will take it anyways despite that putting it in check? Idk other than that its pretty fun.
This app is proving to be a superb source for learning chess or improving ones chess game. We’ve been playing chess, on and off, for about 65 years. Highly recommend.

We really like the game, its very fun and strategic. But the kings are very annoying both on the enemy side, we keep getting stuck in the scenario where a king is the last one on the enemy side of the board but it will keep moving out of the way and some times if we manage to get close the king kills us, even though our king cannot destroy pieces. It took us a full one and a half hour to beat level two. This is still an overall great game, good for road trips and days at home. Also we wanted to pitch the idea of a local multiplayer game mode where you can play against a friend only using one device. Another idea had was themed boards, like boards but with different color pallets, such as original chess, neon, disco, etc.
Overall good interface, fun concept. Few things: add the En Peasant Chess rule, and add live multiplayer.
A little disappointed. While the game is cool, we were looking for something to play with our friends to help stay in touch. Would re-download the app if a turn-based feature was added.
And they even teach you how to play chess! Love this! Yep! There are also super hard levels too!
We came across this game while browsing the App Store and immediately knew we would like it when we heard its concept. It takes chess to a new kind of difficulty that requires a different type of strategy to win. This is a great chess game for anyone who likes playing chess but wants a new challenge. One thing we wish this game had was the ability to play with others via local multiplayer, but otherwise, it’s great!
Basic idea is novel, but some improvements are needed to make this game great: -Make AI better at checkmates; currently it has trouble working with limited pieces and repeats moves, which requires closing and reopening app to get it to wake up and do the checkmate -Add Repetition end-condition -Add Resign button.
AI: Way too easy even at the highest levels, no real progression, levels are just random. Multiplayer: nobody online, no ranking UI: lots of annoying things, like a share button where next should be.
This game has all the makings of a great game, and thanks to developer response to feedback, it has become a personal favorite. The spin on traditional chess is a good one, requiring the player to rethink every move based on the potentially explosive outcome. The UX design is clean and crisp and the UI is intuitive. Two of our three big problems which led us to review this game at 4 stars initially and eventually led to frustration and a 2-star review have been fixed! First, the developer has included more basic puzzles in the update. The new puzzles are creative and give new life and challenge to the game. Second, the AI was flawed. In a previous release, the AI would think about moves forever. The developer has stated that this issue has been fixed and we have not run into it yet since. Finally, the developer has not yet filtered user-created content to remove overly-similar puzzles, but says that this is in the works. This game started out with potential to be a truly great strategy puzzle game, and with this update it has become one of our favorite apps. Good work and thanks for listening to feedback!
Fantastic, but it will be many games before you advance past the basic level.
We just wanted to play normal chess and we like the concept but we wish that there was a regular chess mode. If they added a regular chess we would like it a lot more.
We literally had a mental breakdown while playing this game.
We like the concept but its literally harder than regular chess. You can plan out moves so you just have to keep trying until you get it right.
This game is horrible it took all the strategy out of chess and just made this game bad The AI mode is almost impossible and the idea of the game is just stupid.
Loving this game and hugely addictive so beware!! New update is great! Test your skills in multiplayer and learn from new mistakes! Excellent twist to established reactions… Requires new strategies, but still very much chess Thanks for an awesome game.
We enjoy chess as much as the next guy, but when you have beaten the computer it will lag and not work. If we were to get done to about 6 moves from a check mate the game would either: lag and be stuck on thinking, end the game and saying draw no more moves can be made, or the game will freeze. Just program defeat into this game and we will not complain. We really do enjoy this new type of strategic play style.
We love the concept, theres no ad spam you see on most free games nowadays and we would love to give it a 5 stars BUT we found 2 problems. 1. Whenever we try to do multiplayer or online battles, it just says our user is being created. We cant go online at all on the app! 2. How do you access online levels? We will change to a 5 star as soon as they are fixed or explained as the creator of this app seems responsive. Thanks! Edit: The user created message was because of bad internet, its fine now though! We just STARTED chess and its INSANELY HARD FOR ME ON THE EASY LEVEL + FIRST LEVELS OF GAME please make a even EASIER mode so we can win also we dont see the point of making our own level we check it out looked boring( not to boring still bit fun ) ideas: new titles Like… Off the bat we can name… Lava ( land on or go past u lose ) ice ( cant go on if click ice and stuff u go to the closest space ahead ) bounce ( player when on and has turn can jump over one chess piece ) paint gun ( Land on it and ur chess piece explodes while every chess piece in Column and row also explodes ) thats all our ideas otherwise its a great game love the concept.
Love this game but we didnt give 5 stars for a number of reasons. 1. Theres no way to add a time limit – people go days and days without replying 2. You cant play against friends – only option is random multiplayer 3. You cant even make your own account, idk what our username even is. Edit: 5 star for developer response and the things we mentioned being in the works.
The game is ok, games can last long or finish very quickly, and we dont like the exploding element. We do like the ability to take a turn then quit. And resume later instead of having to play in real time. We feel this game would be better with a normal chess option, without the explosions.
We actually enjoyed the concept of this game and we normally dont rate games but ummmm can we just point out that you cant even enjoy this game without it crashing 24/7 like we were about to win a very hard level and nope crashes then multiple times after that crash after crash after crash its just sad hopefully you can fix this.

We made a level and tested it but when we put the computer in check it started thinking for a long time and then kicked us out of the game. Please fix this.
Like the concept, but we feel like the AI is extremely hard to beat. We dont know if we are just bad (XD) or just the AI needs to be able to be toned down. But this does make it ragingly fun game. We would like, like others a normal chess mode, (both for our self esteem :P and ) cause this seems to be more polished than other chess apps. Also add in other chess moves other than castling such as empesant (idk how to spell it – the one where a pawn can kill another pawn next to it in the middle lanes – may be a bit different to chessplode but its kinda annoying this function isnt in the game) Overall we like the ability to create and play levels. We like how you can decimate your enemys forces with a single semi-planned move. Gooooood Game :D.
There is no way to beat the second level. And we tried skipping it but each time it said there werent any ads to watch. We dont know why, considering we havent used any ads before.
We are enjoying this game;however, we are stuck on Check with the Ziri option and we are wondering why.
We deleted after a few days of not being able to win ever. Even as a mediocre chess player this seems off.

This looks like it would be really fun, but for people like us who dont know how to play chess there should really be a tutorial for beginners. We have always tried to learn how to play chess but it always seems really complicated. This game makes it look like it could simplify the rules and pieces. We will try to google it, but this is a problem for us.
Hi, we really enjoy your game, its very addictive and is one of our favorites. But we would like to suggest maybe a classic chess game mode, we enjoy the spin you put on it but, sometimes Im in the mood for the classic and would appreciate seeing it in this amazing game!

Neat little chess variant and we love how the developer replies to the reviews (its what made us get the game despite the disheartening ratings). Not our favorite chess variant – personally we love 4 player chess – but the game plays well nonetheless and is enjoyable. ^-^
We love the concept of the game. We have always loved chess but lots of times dont have enough time to play a full game. This fixes that. The only reason we didnt give the game 5 stars is because there are a lot of bugs. Once those are fixed we will rate 5 stars.
The levels are impossible to beat, doesnt even deserve one star.
The concept is cool we guess but its not possible to win, after taking out every other piece it will say that it was a draw. If you checkmate the king? Draw. Its so dumb.
We were playing and got a check mate and it just said draw so we cant even beat the first level.
