This game overwhelming favors the defender and the results are frequently counterintuitive.
Like these games, but this one locks up after a few rounds. How about a fix/update?!?!
We really love this game its simple yet challenging and we play it all the time however we deleted the game and re-downloaded it and all the extra mission we bought we no longer have access to. Im very frustrated because if we press Restore Purchase nothing happens, and neither does Buy Now. They are completely inaccessible, it wont even let us buy them again. Id deeply appreciate a fix to this so we can access all the missions again, and we dont want to buy them again either. Now Im stuck with less than half the missions we had play.
You did it, you took the the flag of the army of the Tennessee off of your game! We are done with all of your games!!! Every one that plays these games like historical facts not todays political crap!!! So make it right or loose your business!!! Wish we never had updated our game! : ((
We’ve tried many times and we can’t get the flag in the northeast corner. Reinforcements just keep coming. Can’t play new battles until we get thru this one. Help.
When these were released, they were fantastic, well balanced games. With each successive update, however, they have rendered them unplayable! Buttons to change formation dont appear, play balance is out of whack and we are constantly being nagged to restore games we’ve already purchased. Really disappointed with what theyve down to their franchise.
March 2 update – slow speed on infantry looks good now. Artillery and Cav are still too fast though. Update makes troops scoot like in an old Benny Hill comedy routine. First Alexander and now this. We’re just about done with this company.
All purchased additions erased and will not restore after latest update. You owe us $14.00.
After the last update, over half of our purchased scenarios will not restore. Every hexwar game we have (16) has done the same thing.
Why have you taken away several of our scenarios? Why do you want us to buy them again. Very bad idea. Do not trust this developer. Save your money.
Lots of variations to keep you playing for hours.
Look, it is what it is. Its a hex strategy game. While the strategy does not require a lot of gray matter, it is a fun game. We bought the combo pack and got the 62/63/64 all in one. This game reminds us of the old SSI games. Its turned based and not a real time game. That being said its fairly fun. Enjoy.
Really enjoy the Hunted Cow Civil War games, they remind us of the old school hex style war games but with app like gameplay. Wish there was a little more topographic variety based on actual battle fields and the graphics took a dip in 1863. But for moving and engaging on a tactical level, very fun and you learn (or you lose).
Enjoyed playing the game, best feature is the ability to play either side.
We like the new Historical mode, however, the resume game button is not working now.
Could have been better. Did not like having to constantly change the infantry into a formation, wasting a turn; and a lot of missed opportunities to engage the enemy because of a specific unit not being able to move. But we do enjoy this game a lot.
This is one of our favorite games to play.

We quite enjoy this brand of games. The graphics are brilliant , the design is gorgeous, it’s a tight fun rightly priced item. We would only wish the AI was a bit more challenging. It’s tactics, both defense and offense, are weak and predictable. Another level perhaps beyond "hard" – "harder"?

While we enjoy the game certain aspects relating to terrain modifiers we find to be unsatisfactory. For example in the Lexington scenario, the Union forces , even though they are behind fortifications and hold the high ground, do not seem to have any edge against troops , unprotected, and moving up hill. None of the defensive pluses that existed in reality seem to exist in these games.
Do not get this game!! If ur gonna spend money on a game GET ULTIMATE GENERAL: GETTYSBURG that is the best war game ever!!!!!
Along with other Civil War games from this supplier, they are not bad. Outcomes can depend on your deployment on forces. You can make mistakes that affect the events and casualties. Only in a few cases does the enemy (depending on who choose) seem to be have better speed of movement of units. But usually not enough to really matter. All in all we like it.

Definitely one of the best Civil War games on the market. We love the entire series and Hunted Cow Studios keeps delivering. We also love playing their Tank Battle series. Very well thought and easy to play while not sacrificing quality or detail.

The AI may be a little easy but it has great gameplay and interesting units along with maps and the historical aspect is very intriguing. We would recommend to anyone who like unique strategy games.

Better than expected and thoroughly fun for an old war gamer like us. Good job guys. The only bug we had with 1863 and the latest 1864 edition was the sound effects stopped working completely. Oh well, everything else was very well done. Would like to see units morale ratings affected and rally added to future games.
The old game is back. We miss the complexity of the longer campaigns with the ability to upgrade weapons, reapply, and so forth but the building blocks are here. It is way overpriced but fun.
The only thing that would make these games better is a larger campaign. Something that allows you to move around the united states with larger army so you can pick your battlefield and make maneuvers on a larger scale. Then play in the small scale battles. Similar to Rome total war or some old school civil war games.
In the hoorah campaign stephensons depot and oak ridge are not working. Plus the bonus campaign will not accept the code to open it.
This is ridiculous to pay $8.00 then play 4 or 5 levels then it wants to charge $1.99 for each 1 of the remaining levels. There’s like 5 or 6 more thats another 10 to 12 dollars. That is a joke!!! If the graphic of the game was better it still would NOT be worth $20 to play a game on a handheld device. Which it is 2016 not 1993 where is the graphics & action. This is a Civil War game you need to do it justice.
We paid for the full version of this app and when it was updated, it reverted back to the initial trial version and wants us to pay again for the full version.
We love this game. Lots of fun. Can’t wait for more. We recommend it.
We have enjoyed the game and the accompanying snatches of history. However, there is one of the purchased unlocked battles, ‘something Hill’ where even though the game acknowledges that we have meet the objectives, it will not register a win allowing us to continue to the next battle.
This is really a lot of fun. Good historical flavor and quick playing battles. Couldn’t ask for more.
Fun hex based game. Worth time. Reminds us of an old game on PC, civil war.
The level "Ambush" under "Victory Road" is almost impossible to win on casual (as of newest update). We cannot beat it and therefore cannot progress past level 2 of the "Victory Road" campaign. Before the update, we used to be able to beat it (just slightly, at that). Please lower the rank (veterancy) of the raiders in ambush or raise the rank of the wagon defenders. The best you can do is set up the wagons as blockades, but the enemy still smashes through it. Otherwise, the game is great. The levels are well thought out and some are challenging (but not too hard) to overcome. Please add a few more two player maps though- we find that 15 isn’t enough :)
We played the free version before this, and we liked it…. So we bought it thinking there would be way more levels but there weren’t.. Still a good game.
