Congresswolf – Roleplaying Game Review
![]()
Congresswolf is a Roleplaying/Books/Adventure game from Choice of Games LLC, first launched in 27th October 2016.
It’s rated 12+ and currently has 33+ ratings on the App Store.
What Makes Congresswolf Stand Out
Is the next member of Congress a werewolf? Can you survive a lycanthrope's bite? There's no silver bullet for winning an election!
"Congresswolf" is an interactive novel by Ellen Cooper, where your choices control the story. It's entirely text-based—140,000 words, without graphics or sound effects—and fueled by the vast, unstoppable power of your imagination.
"Democracy must be something more than two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for dinner." — James Bovard
When a werewolf murders your boss, you must step up to run a Congressional campaign all on your own. While werewolves, protestors, and worse—the media—lurk around every corner, you'll use everything you can to get your candidate elected.
Email servers? Tax returns? Who cares. Election-season secrets and October surprises are nothing compared to the possibility that your candidate might be a werewolf…or that you might become one yourself.
• Play as any gender, play as gay or straight
• Set the right tone with your TV ads
• Prep your candidate for debates
• Impress big donors
• Get out the vote
• Find out who killed your predecessor
• Decide where your candidate will stand on werewolf rights
This Roleplaying game offers engaging gameplay and regular updates for mobile players.

Player Experience Highlights
Community Insight:
This was fun, engaging, and timely. We really hope they make more like this.
The game is a really enjoyable experience, although there is a paywall stopping our from progressing, what we did play was really fun and its honestly tempting to buy the full game, we just wish after all this time thered be a wya to progress without spending money.
We really dont like that you have to pay to finish the story, we would much rather wats ads and finish the story then not know how it ends.
Says its for free, but then makes you buy the game when you get into the app.
It could be better we wish you didn't have to pay for the rest of the story it's regally a nuisance.
This interactive short story was engaging. We enjoy most games like these as long as the writing is well done.
We're a big fan of choice of games and hosted games, we've played so many but this is for sure one of our favorites.
We really like this game because it is really fun to play and it is a varry enteresting text based and challenging game to play.
We tried one text based game over a year ago by a different developer. It was very disappointing. However, when AppAdvice recently touted this game as entertaining, well written, and a personal adventure with a host of player reviews with 5* ratings, we simply couldn't pass up downloading Congresswolf! The developers have theme based bundles, or individual story based games at very reasonable prices. Games are ADA accessible for low vision players using voice over! Another high mark for Gaming! Just purchased the Sci-fi Bundle and will dive into them soon! Give these text based game a whirl. You won't regret it.
We loved this game, it could be our favorite from the company yet. So much fun. Intense, exciting story, especially if you love political intrigue. You really felt like you were making a difference. Some reviewer claimed that the Republican Party is demonized here, but that is not true. We played as a Republican first and never got that feeling at all. We then replayed as a Democrat and there was really no demonizing of either party. Not sure where they got that idea.
We thoroughly enjoyed each route and play through.
We absolutely love this magnificent game.
Awesome story, got hooked very quickly. First "Choice of Games" story we've bought the full version of, and we wasn't disappointed! We really enjoyed how we were able to root for civil rights, as we're not able to vote yet.
Every time we tell ourselves that we won't give in and buy the game, and again we lied. Worth it with "Choice of the Deathless" , worth it again with "Congresswolf".
Modern day fantasy was never really our thing until we read this. We were never fascinated by politics either, but the plot was intriguing enough to keep us going. We'd also like to credit the author's exceptionally large vocabulary. Anyone who can use the word "cacophony" in their first chapter without it sounding forced deserves respect. Considering the election we have this year, we would certainly rather have one of these characters running for president instead of the horrible options we have now- even if they were a werewolf.
We finally get a Choice of Games about werewolves, but it just had to also involve politics. The story was interesting somewhat but it definitely seems sequel worthy. We would like to see where the story would go if it continued. We recommend trying this game out.
One time, we have 85,000 spending money, so we invest even more to finance, and next we know we make less the next month (35,000). And then, when we say "change spending goals" just so that we can see all this it won't let us exit until we change something, so we should have just not looked at all, but how was we supposed to see that! Wonderful story, but we're just tired of authors not giving enough thought or respect to the game/choices side of things. (Afternote: it seems the whole finance mechanics need some polishing – most senate campaigns are in the hundreds of thousands of dollars, and it just doesn't make sense to have money measured in the tens of thousands especially when we're talking about donations from billion net-worth individuals as referenced in the game. And why isn't the party contributing any money towards the Nirmal campaign? Parties usually help their candidates. This part of the game just isn't realistic and it's really bringing the rest of it down in quality.) (Also even when we pay for the most advanced polls option it seems we don't get to know the poll numbers for some reason even though the bar is clearly there at the start of the game, ugh). (Nevermind they showed up a few pages afterwards, which is still annoying. And we'd like to point out that we actual made more money than when we were paying for finance options, which is just bewildering). (Note from second playthrough: it appears just dumping all your money into field and polling when you have it and then leaving the budget as it is after that makes the game think that you're "staying on track" even though you should be thousands of dollars in debt. Obviously this system needs to be really reworked. Also, small little thing: the game acts like Jude wasn't there for us killing Jonas when he was. Perhaps the last scene's dialogue should be changed in this case?).
Every time we click on the change spending goals button we get stuck on that screen because there's no button to get off of it.
