This is the best game in the App Store.
We remember when the reason they made the obstacles cube shaped was because the hardware limitations on phones. This thing ran great on an iPad 2. Now it has a 3d model for the plane (Rip triangle guy) and a texture for the ground. We dont know when they updated this game, we thought the dev would have kicked the bucket after the iPhone X came out, but instead he blessed us with a visual overhaul.
Ive had this since 2008 or 2009 we think. We kept it out of nostalgia and super glad to see it get an update after 10 years. Always kept it in the game folder to just pass the time and try to beat an old score in the process. Great job lads.
Please add a retro mode. This is the only app that has been on our phone since we had our first iPhone in the 3GS. This was one of the first apps games we played in 2009 and fell in love with and Ive been playing it for almost ten years. We do like the new changes but Ill always love the original version.
We have a question for the Developer, There used to be a feature in the app that allowed people to submit their own created game maps. Will that feature come back? Also, this is a great app! Im so glad that it has become popular again and we would recommend it for anyone who like simple games.
This game is very nostalgic to us because we played it a lot years ago when we were young. We downloaded it again and have been playing it recently. The new update is great, impressive graphics and everything but is miss the look and simplicity of the old version. Maybe you could make a classic mode and have a version that plays like the original.
This game is such a classic! Ive had this app for soooo long, its been like 8 years. We liked even before the update, but we really like the new approach that was taken . Keep it up ! Side Note: Im a producer & have in mind a few tracks that would sound Great for gameplay and could really enhance the gaming experience. We think it would be dope to collaborate with the developer of one of our favorite games. Please reach back to us with your thoughts on it.
We used to play this game all the time as a kid. With the new overhaul we think Ill be playing it a lot more again. Props to the developers for continuing this app after such a long time :).

We love this app. We appreciate change, but our issue is that this new update changes the game completely. Ive been playing Cube runner for 9 years we think, through college and high school it has been a go-to game. We dont like the new update compared to what it used to be. Id love to see a retro mode feature that would allow you to play with the visuals and handling of the previous version. Thanks for reading and for all the fun over the years.
Been playing this game since our iPhone 3G and this update is worthy of the iPhone X. Classic viewer and impressive new runs. It know where our phone game time will be spent.
Cube runner has been one of our all-time favorites. Im only giving it 5 stars because of the nostalgia we have for this game. The new update that was just released after no updates for 10 years is a disaster. The game goes from vertical gameplay to horizontal gameplay, the graphics somehow got worse, and the zen gameplay is just a participation-trophy style of play. After 5 minutes of play, we seriously regret updating the app. We used to still play this game on our phone pretty regularly after 9 years of faithfully using iPhones and the iPod Touch but Im not so sure Ill be playing it much anymore.
One of our First Favorite Games. Fun for all ages. The new update revitalizes an old classic and still keeps its old good times and fun. More Developers should do this this. There were some awesome games that have just disappeared or dont work on a newer iOS. We would pay a good few bucks to have Pharos Poker back again…. Any who, back to Cube Runner, THANKS for the update guys, looks and plays GREAT. Dont wait 10 more years before the next one.
We generally liked playing this game in the past, but this new version is at least 300% more enjoyable in our opinion. Great job, guys.

Personally, we dont see why all these people are criticizing the update. We have been playing this game since it has been released, and we can tell you, all it has done is improve. We especially like that new jet fighter and choosable themes, because they appeal you, if you know what we mean. Also, is it just us, or does canyon get easier as you progress?? Because in the thousands, there was nothing that could stop us.
Its okay we like the new graphics and the flow controls are fantastic however you only have one posture which is sideways and you got rid of the first person view ( unless Im an idiot and cant access it).
Please add the ability to use the new music. We dont like the new audio but overall, the overhaul is good.
We have to admit we were a little shocked to see an update to this game after so much time. Ive loved this game for its simplicity for a long time so the update gave us a chance to get hooked again. We like the new graphics (the ship looks great) and it still runs incredibly smoothly on our old iPhone. We used to play in portrait orientation and now we cant but we quickly got used to that. Just as we got used to the new textures which were a little distracting at first. The main reason Im not rating it 5 stars is that we just noticed our phone was warm in our pocket. We quit all our apps and checked battery usage and this app used 18% of our battery in the last 24 hours. We havent played in days. If the battery leak gets fixed Ill revise our review. Until then Ill just remember to quit the app.
Our least favorite part of the game was the time it took to get to a point where we could possibly set a new record. With the new insane mode its now just a few seconds.
We miss the older music and style, would love to see a classic mode.
We have had this game since 2008 about and Im very sad that the classic game is gone we loved it because it was simple and easy to navigate with out all the bells and whistles please go back to the old version.
Let us say from the start this is a very nice visual update. The landscapes and ship update is awesome. The new music is also very good. Overall its a very nice job. One minor problem though. You took away the ability to change the perspective, and it needs a user controlled sensitivity adjustment.

We remember playing this game on our dads iPhone 3 years ago. Since that time the game hasnt changed since recently. Even though the game keeps the same functionality, it just doesnt feel the same with the new look. Is there any way to get the simple theme? If not can it be added as a legacy design or something? Thanks.
We love the new update and the look and feel of it, but youre missing some of the cool features that we really liked in the previous version. The first person mode is gone from what we can tell which was our preferred way to fly, especially in the canyon mode. We also miss the classic look and color scheme of the original, maybe add it back in as one of the terrains. This game would be perfect if it had those back in it, but other than that it looks and feels great.
We have been using CubeRunner since the beginning! It has been one of our absolutely favorite games. We are extremely happy that the developers are still alive and doing maintenance. We do wish there was a way to continue playing the classic version. The new airplane looks good but we miss our old triangle. We also miss the old app icon. We would like to see the developer add the option to use the old icon or new icon. We would also like to see a retro mode. Dont get us wrong we will probably use some of the new features occasionally but we already miss the nostalgia.
We guess the new update isnt horrible the games is still fun, but like other people are saying we still like the classic a lot better the new zen mode is pointless you cant play the game in landscape anymore it looks worse than before.
Option to toggle to original theme/music. First person mode. Pausing currently decelerates the ship, allowing you to repeatedly pause and unpause to cheat.
Its amazing that you guys took time to update the game again after years but theres already a lot of problems. First, the old music is completely gone! That music holds some great nostalgia and it felt more fitting than the current music so it would be nice to have an option to toggle the new music and the old one. Also, when pausing, your speed resets, so if youre going really fast and then pause, you go slow and it could really throw you off. And also, the higher difficulties are REALLY hard to control, a slight tilt could send your ship flying and the momentum just seems off.
Love the new update! Different modes, different textures and backgrounds. Fun to see that this game is still getting some attention. Our only complaint, is that the tilt sensitivity is WAY too sensitive! You should really put a sensitivity slider in the options menu. As it is its almost unplayable (hence the low star review).
We have had this game for years now and even though we have dozens of other games this one is still one of our favorites by far. We just wish we could select the old vehicle model.
This feels like a knockoff of the original game. Needs to have a retro background/setting so you can play it how it used to look. The new backgrounds and colors are mostly just distracting. Also needs the original music. Also, we dont remember the turning being so sensitive. Maybe Im wrong on that one. ALSO, pausing the game restarts your speed, removing all difficulty from the game. The original version did not have this issue. Sure, you could still pause/unpause rapidly, but you still kept your speed when you unpaused.
Bring back the classic Cube Runner. This update takes away all the charm of this game. At least add an option to use the classic graphics.
This is the first time Ive taken the time to write a review of any app. That being said we were so disappointed when we opened CubeRunner this morning to see the new update absolutely changed the game in every way. Its so terrible now. The feel has changed and you can no longer move the camera in to the first person which was our favorite feature. Very disappointing, will be deleting.
The music, the first person, the controls were all perfect. The new version is great, but its a whole new game and not the CubeRunner we love so much.
Cube runner was always the game we liked to play while riding the bus or generally doing nothing. But we only ever played it in vertical mode, now we cant and wont. It also seems to be quite a bit more jumpy and not as smooth. The water is cool though.
The updates have ruined this game. Please go back to the original.
Im not at all a fan of the new look. Cube runner isnt a new and exciting game. When we do play it, its because of the simplicity and the nostalgia factor. By revamping it you lose some of the simplicity and all of the nostalgia. Please give us a way to change the look back to classic and Ill rate it the 5 stars it deserves.
The old version was simple, fun, and to the point. The new update isnt our fave and we dont like how you can only play landscape. The old one you could play either way. And now the little plane that flies around the cubes is very sensitive to movement and its just not the same.
Since we were just five years old Ive been playing this game, it was so much fun. We used to play it with our dad and our friends. And when we played it now to bring back the memories of our childhood (before the update), it was still the best game ever, the music and the game itself brought us back to our childhood again, and it was amazing. We were very happy with this game… But to celebrate Arcades 10th anniversary of Cube Runner. They made a huge and TERRIBLE update that COMPLETELY RUINED our childhood game. The music is crap, and the design is completely different in a way that we despise. This broke our heart. Look arcade, our purpose isnt to go around and write bad reviews on everything like an a-hole, but we want you to understand our opinion. This actually looks like a completely difference game. So at least make it a different app and name it something else like cube runner 3 or something. We guess Im gonna have to look up the older version of the game on YouTube to bring back the good memories again someday cause Im only 14. We wont play it until it will be changed back by a miracle perhaps. If this game miraculously gets changed back to the good old original version. Then we will erase this bad and horrible looking review off of the App Store. Im probably not the only person that has the same opinion about this update.
Features we need back in our beloved game: 1. Tilt calibration settings 2. First person view mode 3. Original looks and sounds included as an optional setting Ive played this game for all ten years of its being, (it was the first app we ever downloaded.) we want the option to have it look and sound just like we loved it way back in the day.
Not quite sure how to feel about the new update… Its very, very different in feel! Different isnt inherently bad, it just feels pretty abrupt. Pausing the game causes the ship to lose all of its forward speed- unpausing the game starts the ship from zero speed. Im not sure whether this is intentional behavior because its not really communicated to the player… Is this intended or a bug? We think you may have gotten a little trigger happy with the new features and abilities of newer iOS versions… The main draw to this game, for us, was the retro, early 2010s App Store feel. The main game hadnt changed at all since the initial release (since we had our first iPod Touch!)… This is just a really, really big shift and change, and seems to disregard entirely all the charm the original had in of itself. Maybe you could alleviate the feeling by adding in the original music as an option in settings, and a theme that looks more like the original? Best of luck.
Having textures on the airplane and the ground make the game look a lot worse and more outdated than it did before, and we miss the ability to play in vertical orientation. Please at least include an option to play the old cube runner, we grew up with it.
We loved CubeRunner all our life, and it was very addicting. It had the perfect music, perfect icon, perfect look. We loved this game all until this update. Its only been 7 hours since this update and we hate it. The screen is sideways now and thats not something we like. Im not trying to be mean. But the music is nothing like the old, amazing CubeRunner music. And the game modes only make it worse. Im sorry, but if we are going to keep this game, we want better. We know that you tried, but please put it back to normal! Best of luck.

We were excited to play this classic game from our childhood and was very disappointed to see that you ruined it with new updates such as a dumb jet rather than an arrow and different colors and landscapes. Its fine to update, but you should at least keep the option to use the classic mode.
We are so upset w the new update. It made it WORSE. It looks like cgi from 2010 threw up all over the screen. And the little airplane is cute in theory but gross in reality. We wouldnt mind there being a choice of choosing an cgi looking back ground or solid colors like before. And it would be nice to have the square and unlock other icons. PLEASE FIX IT.
Its a shame. Used to be so nostalgic.
