We were not going to click on this game but so happy we did. We love this game. The storyline, the hidden objects being a lot different from other games. We play the custom mode and made it sort of hard but even then it was harder than we thought but we liked that. We also like the way the game looks also and all the mini-games are super fun. Hope they make more like this.

Haven’t written a review for a long time, but this game deserved it. Truly enjoyed playing. Love the Danse Macabre series and this game didn’t disappoint Thanks, Eipix.

Lots of hidden objects and no morphing bits. A game that you dont want to end. Enjoying, and to us, a good purchase. Key West Jessa.

Finally a game thats not that dark. Great graphics decent story line. Challenging games and lots of HOPS.

We cannot purchase it! The game is excellent!

We cant unlock the game after the demo. It tells us its no longer available.

While not earth-shakingly new, this game does have some good aspects. The artwork is uncluttered, the voice overs are fine, and the storyline, while trite, is refreshing. There are only so many we are going to take over the world! Scenarios that we can take! Puzzles are on the easy side and HOPs are clear – not dark and junky and a strain on your eyes. There IS quite a bit of find this piece to open this lock but that seems to be par for the course for a these days.

Loved the artwork! The ability to go back at the end and find things you may have missed is always fun. Enjoyed this one.

When we went to purchase the game, it says failed purchase no longer available.

12/28/18 ADVENTURE GAMING COMPENDIUM, PART I: Gamers may want to try the following game developers & publishers in light of Big Fish selling out for casino money. Artifex Mundi: started with Big Fish and now publishes its own HOAGs as well as HOAGs from game developers Brave Giant, Cordelia, House of Fables, Moonlight Interactive, Sunward Games, One More Level, So Digital, Two Desperadoes, and World-Loom Games. G5 Entertainment: similar to Big Fish. Publishes HOAGs from Artifex Mundi, Fenimen and Shaman Games, among others. Haiku Games: excellent free point and click adventure games, which include tons of minigames but not necessarily hidden object puzzles. Rumpus Animation: they publish the Bertram Fiddle series, which is very witty. Discover and use items as part of gameplay. Five-BN UK: terrific series such as Darkness and Flame, Lost Lands, The Legacy and our favorite, New York Mysteries. Absolutist: publishes its own HOAGs as well as HOAGs and adventure games from AZ-Art Studios, Lazy Turtle and Shaman Games, among others. We recommend the amusing Witchs Pranks: Frogs Fortune, although it is a little short. Pendulo Studios: known for the Journey Down, Runaway, Hollywood Monster and Yesterday adventure game series. Not aware of any HOAGs. Beware that one of the Runaway Games has a game-ending glitch (everyone comments on it so you will know before you purchase). Alawar: like Artifex Mundi, Alawar started with Big Fish then branched out on its own. Publishes its own HOAGs as well as adventure games from Tikis Lab and Wellore. We recommend the Dark Angels, House of 1000 Doors, Lake House, Paranormal Pursuit, Stray Souls and Weird Park HOAG series (note that Big Fish has some bf not all of the related games). Animation Arts Creative GmbH: develops the Lost Horizon and Secret Files adventure game series. Application Systems Heidelberg Software: developed the lengthy adventure game Nelly Cootalot and The Fowl Fleet. Microids: develops and publishes HOAGs and adventure games, including the Syberia adventure game series, Red Johnsons Chronicles adventure game series (may not be publicly available any longer), and one of our favorite, Agatha Christie: The ABC Murders. (This isnt a HOAG, its the quintessential detective game.) Microids also publishes HOAGs and adventure games for Anuman Interactive and Pendulo Studios, among others. If you love quirky hidden gems, try the Tova point and click series as well as Freda and the sequel, all developed by Biscuit Placebo and published by Jens Staaf; and Kelvin and the Infamous Machine, written and published by Blyts. 10/18 HOAG UPDATE: After reading Catalinas post, we sent the following to BF: A rumor is circulating that your company will no longer release new adventure games for the iPad or iPod. Instead, Big Fish intends to focus on pay as you go games driven by energy and cash. BF may not be aware, but it has a huge following for HOAG games on these mobile platforms. Hundreds to thousands of people purchase each release, exchange their thoughts on active comment boards, and eagerly wait for the next one. You make between $1.99 and $6.99 for each individual purchase. Right now, this group is incensed by the rumor that they are about to be disenfranchised. They will not simply move to the energy-powered games. That is a completely different market which holds no interest for these players. That should have been obvious when BF tried to release Witchs Tale instead of a traditional HOAG game a couple months ago. The end-users were raging in the comments. Moreover, these same players will not shift to PC. That is not the trend in any gaming community. Players in all segments are moving to lighter, more mobile devices. Several HOAG players have stated that they bought iPad specifically to play Big Fish games. If BF Is willing to write off these revenues, then that is a corporate decision. (This decision will materially impact Apples revenues as well, but we cant speculate as to the importance of that business relationship.) Just understand that you will not replace those revenues with any purchases from your current HOAG players, whether on a different platform or in another gaming mode. Regards, Jennifer we hope that others take Catalinas suggestion and contact BF too. In other news, FiveBN is working on another New York Mysteries game, release TBD. Finally, thanks to Lynx for the kind words. Im flattered and humbled, particularly since you are the veteran of HOAG reviews. REVIEW: we liked this game as much or more as any in EIPIX Danse Macabre series. Technically, the game is near flawless. The map enables teleportation and indicates where actions are required. You can customize difficulty for all functions other than the difficulty of mini games (which is unfortunate, because we found most of them to be too easy). The graphics, soundtrack and voiceovers are crisp. There is one collectible, musical symbols. If you dont find them all, you have another opportunity after the bonus chapter. You also can hunt for souvenirs after you finish all gameplay. We would have been happier if there were more novelty and challenge. The storyline of dead, star-crossed lovers was predictable. Nearly all of the HOPs are word list and/or silhouette. You can opt for a match-3 puzzle where the goal is to drop EIPIX symbols out the bottom, but this is really just a time killer. (NOTE: You select the match-3 alternative by clicking on the rose icon. This wasnt clear to us and we just stumbled upon it.) There were some twists from the typical mini games, but most of them were rehashed and only a few gave us pause. We enjoyed the puzzles in the bonus chapter more than those in the main game. EIPIX, please bring back your legendary, multistage superpuzzles from the early days of Mystery Case Files!! We probably wont play A Lovers Pledge again, but we rate it a solid 4 and recommend buying while its on sale.

Almost a 5, however, a puzzle became bugged right after we opted to purchase the full game, forcing us to start over. It was annoying.

We’ve finished the main game and cant find the bonus game anywhere?

Frustrated with the ways that Big Fish is doing things now. They use to put out 2 new games a week. Now they just recycle old ones that we’ve already played.

At this point we have had every review deleted so heres an update as of 12/31/18: Domini released a Christmas game called Christmas Spirit: Mother Goose and we just got 3 NEW HOAG from Elephant Games, so this is exciting news. They have free trials but the prices are $6.99. We dont care because we love this developer. The first 2 are Haunted Hotel: Lost Dreams and Detectives United: Origins and Catalina said they are worth playing. We just found another one, called Christmas Stories: Alice, and it looks like a twisted take on the Lewis Carroll classic. We have to hope that the developers will fill the void left by BigFish. We need help. Reviewers, please try to contact EIPIX and Mad Head and ask if they will strike out on their own. We cannot do this myself! If you want games you need to make it known. Please do not let this genre die out because BigFish left a huge void. When one door closes another opens and now theres a niche, especially for people who dont want to play those money-draining games with coins and energy. They need to check our Domini and Elephant and then they will see how much money they wasted, and how boring those games really are! Lynxie requests help, because they are monitoring us and keep deleting our update! Please spread the word about Elephant as best you can. Thanx, and happy New Year!

The developers are starting to release games on their own (Elephant Games just released two today) And there are several more, just do a search for most recent HOAG youll see Your welcome :)

So big fish has been bought and hasnt released any games in a month. We have been searching for another source for hidden object adventure games but have not found one. We figure eipix, four friends and all the other developers that have contracted with big fish will be off the hook and will have to find another source for their games (since big fish has been sold, layed off staff and is going to concentrate on casino type games). Our thought is for us hidden object fans to leave reviews on this game helping eachother out if we find a new source for our beloved games. All of our old sources seemed to have sold out to big fish frustrated!!

We were shocked at how quickly this game ended… And no bonus. Not up to Danse Mc. Details…. And definitely too short!!!

This is one of our favorite series. There is no excitement/anticipation while playing this game. Positives: Faster Refresh Rate than previous games (10 seconds). There are several HOPs and puzzles toward the end of the Main game and Bonus games. No morphing objects. Collectibles (30) are musical notes and easy to find. Souvenirs (30) are located after completing the Bonus game. Hopefully, the next installment will be edgier and more fun to play. Jennifer – By refresh rate, we mean the time it takes for the Hint and Skip buttons to reactivate. Refresh rates are listed near the bottom of the Customize menu.

In case you hadnt noticed the fact that we arent getting any new premium games, Big Fish was purchased by an Australian casino company in January and has laid off over 15 percent of their staff in order to focus on casino and free to play games. Just search for big fish games news and read gamesindustry or another article.

Way to short glad we got it on sale.

The best game ever in our opinion was removed outdated in March after years and hundreds of dollars spent building our Dark Manor grounds. Making friends, sending gifts etc etc hours of designing and moving up levels. We found these games searching for games like Dark Manor which is non existence to also now become obsolete. Just complaining. We did buy a new Dell laptop and after playing on iPads for years playing on our iPad is so much more fun. Now all we need are some new games BF. All we want for Christmas are 2 new games.

We wasnt too shocked to see a reviewer heard no new games coming soon. They have slowly cut us off anyway. Oh well fun while it lasted. Thanks for all the great reviewers, we relied on all they showed us.

Playing this on an iPad and the scenery is pretty dark in places and its not always easy to see. We’ve had to use the hint button numerous times to find things that are in the dark.

We got as far as the door where we have to place the three mask pieces in order to get the broken cane. The mask pieces wont place and we cant get the broken cane, therefore we cant move forward in the game. This is very disappoint and we must assume there is a major design flaw going on here. Update: we had to start the game over. Things have to be done in a sequence pattern, thats why we couldnt proceed in our last game and had to create a new game profile. Because we had retrieved the cane head before the bottom half of the cane, the game froze and we couldnt place the mask in order to retrieve the bottom half of the cane. These are design flaws. A good designer would have built in a safeguard in order to proceed no matter what sequence is used to retrieve items.

Eipix used to be one of our favorite developers. They had catchy story lines, unique game play and fun extras. Its been a downhill slide for sometime, but this game was beyond boring. The story was muddled and really dragged out. It was not cohesive and dull. The game play was very boring with very little to interact with. How many times must one find a seam riper? The hidden object areas, once an something Eipix excelled at was so uninspiring and tedious. We actually became irritated when we saw an area for such. We have played almost every Big Fish offering there is and we have a hard time remembering when we were THIS bored last. Speaking of Big Fish, we’ve about had enough of one game a week. A lot of us enjoy these HOA and with all the new ones on the Computer Version being offered, we cant fathom why we cant get one on Sunday and Wednesday like in the past? Its really become annoying. Anyone else feel like that?

Hidden object searches are not for real objects, just for small pieces of a larger object. We would rather search for spiders and mice in a foggy graveyard than shiny objects that have no meaning.

We barely got into this game an was enjoying the searches until we couldnt get mask parts to work where they were supposed to so the game is a useless waste of money as we cant go forward from here. No help with this from the walk thru.

This is so stupid Im so sick of upsetting this then you get a pay for it some people cant do that we dont have a freaking credit card so dont see free unless you mean it or you care about is money.

We just read an article saying no more new games. They sold the company and they are only focusing on casino and pay as you go. We bought our iPad for these games as Im sure others have. They dont care about us enough to bring us new game ,its called corporate greed . They laid off hundreds of people and then want to hire new ones it makes no sense. So we would write them and tell them we are not happy and they are losing a great fan base.

Why cant we see how much its going to cost before we down load? You didnt use to hide it.

Where are the new games!?!?! You sold for 4B and we cant get new games!?!?!

Not like the old Big Fish. Too bad games crash so much now. Cant get past Eipex logo, again. When you have to use satellite, you hate to waste your download on stuff like this. Please fix. Love your games. Thanks.
