Description

Decked Builder is the premium deck building app for Magic the Gathering — providing a sleek user interface to research decks, find cards, and then build, price and finally buy the deck that you want.

"This is the program I recommend for anyone willing to spend … on an MtG application. I’m one of those people who will generally take the free alternative over the paid app any day, but I’m actually happy to have spent the money on this one. It has a ton of very cool features, runs smoothly, and even has RSS feeds for several top MtG sites."

  • Michael Evans, GatheringMagic.com

"Decked Builder is the absolute pinnacle of what a Magic the Gathering accessory app should be. There’s almost nothing that I need, that this app can’t do for me."

  • Jaden, appaddict.net

"The iPad version of Decked Builder is perfect. Solitaire play has been upgraded and the card loading speed is marvelous. Thanks for a good application."

  • Eugene Lee, author of Wagic

"I have to say that this app is certainly one that I would recommend to any MTG player"

Decked Builder Reviews

We always am messing around with new decks in this app we would like to see them add a artist filter and maybe a couple others like scryfall but they have everything you need.

The app could be a bit more refined but we paid a couple bucks for it years ago and they consistently update right at set release. We mainly use the search features and occasionally the deck features.

Love the app, but we wish there was a maybeboard in addition to the sideboard to save cards to in order to aid in tinkering with deck builds over time.

Once you get the camera plug in for this app it is amazing. You can scan your entire collection and search through every card you have by any keyword or filter. You can keep track of basically everything and also see value of your collection and cards too, so many awesome features and functions in this app for deck building it really makes it nice and easy. Cant recommend this app enough. If you have a big mtg card collection this is the app you need to sort it out!

This app repeatedly gets updated and improved! There are so many other apps like this one that are no longer supported but Decked just gets better and better since we first bought it! Fantastic ever improving app!

When searching for cards the software only finds one version of a card. We liked when it could find all versions. Please fix.

We’ve been using this app for at least 5 years now. We only use this for Commander deck building and works great on iOS and iPad os. Cant recommend it enough. New sets are added in a reasonable amount of time shortly after launch for use in your deck building.

We’ve used this app on our phone and computer for years. It was solid for a long time. Would have been 5 stars. Then the app on our phone would crash a lot for a good 6 months (a year or 2 ago). Once that was fixed, the app started having issues fetching our collection and decks from Dropbox/Google Drive. It was never a problem before, but then it started happening for the last year. Instead of it automatically loading our collection and deck upon first opening the app, we have to manually open them a few times. Rather annoying because if we close out the app, even for a few seconds, Ill have to reopen all the files a few times to get it to work. We’ve reached out multiple times and the questions we always get are does it work when you save locally? It does, but we use online storage managers so we can access these files on our computer and phone easily. Id have to constantly sync these files with one other if we saved everything locally each time we updated one. Used to be a great app, but over the years it has slowed down into something lesser. We still recommend it if you are just going to use it on your phone. But if you plan on using it across multiple devices, you might find issues with the online storage option.

It is disappointing the scanning function does not support scanning from multiple sets a time. You have to specify a set when scanning in a card. This probably makes it easier from the recognition perspective but it is extremely time consuming if you are working your way through a lot of jumbled cards. We bought the macOS app a long time ago 2014/2015), which enabled you to select multiple sets for recognition purposes when scanning cards. We specifically bought the updated iOS version expecting the same capability. Very disappointing to find out it does not.

Everyone online said this was the best deck building app and best card scanner. What they didnt say is that the camera feature costs $4.99. We requested a refund through apple and they denied our claim twice. This is dishonest.

Is this app getting any more updates because we still don’t have scanning for baldurs gate or anything for double masters yet? We spent 15 bucks on this to catalog our collection and spent hours doing so just to be stopped in our tracks on recent releases. Really puts a snag in things and makes us regret spending the money and time doing so.

Theres no search bar. You have to scroll through the entire database as a list to find what you want unless you PAY for the camera feature which for some reason costs more than the app. If you want to add a collection, that costs money too. If you want everything the app offers in the ad, it comes out at around 10$ and its still garbage to use. In order to use the ID camera, you have to manually select the set. That doesnt sound too bad, but remember when we said no search bars? Yeah, good luck scrolling. Absolute waste of money. Look elsewhere.

Cant import files from TCGPlayer. Cant delete and manage decks. We want our $2.99 back!

We paid for the app and several extensions. Had an issue where we could not find something. Went back and forth with support. They kept telling us to type in the box when we kept asking where is the box.

We’ve been using this app across multiple devices for about 9-10 years and dont know how we would deckbuild any other way now. It improved our deck building almost immediately when we started using it and to this day rely on it frequently.

We’ve been using this app over a year now. The app doesnt really change much, but the database still does. (Manual update in settings) The little extra money once to be able to use the camera is awesome. As long as we have enough light, the camera function is fast and easy. We can scan in whole stacks of cards as long as we have separated them into what sets they belong to first. Searching for cards are also easy and quick. There are even times when we need an explanation of a card, like for some textless cards, or if it has an ability we dont understand or need a reminder, then we just search for the card, and click on the card to see the info we need. We’ve even used it to find out what card is the rare, when opening unopened old packs of boosters from before they put the coloring in the symbols for the rarity.

We’ve been using this app basically every day to brew and make cubes and such. But recently after the new update the app crashes when you open it. We love this app and will continue to keep using it for as long as its on the app store. Keep up the great work our dudes!

Blinds us every time we open this app in a dark room. Otherwise amazing app.

Im a heavy user of this app. We loved it, when it worked. But since we updated our phone, it crashes immediately on opening. We’ve reached out to the company with no reply. Will it be updated and fixed? We hope this company is not going under, cuz we love the app so much. Please let us know.

We just downloaded the StrixHaven update, which is causing the app to crash. We deleted it and re-downloaded it and it worked for a minute, until we closed it out and tried to re-open it. Now it is back to crashing.

After the latest database update most of the cards no longer show their artwork at all. It also seems to get worse the longer we use the app, Im not sure why. We tried uninstalling and re downloading the app but the issue persists. Would gladly give 5 stars after the issue is fixed.

We’ve used Decked Builder for years, purchased collections and cataloged our cards, had some issues with it off and on but mostly it has worked fine for us. Recently after a software update, it began crashing on startup. We could not find any way to back up our information without access to the app, and lost the 10,000+ card collection we painstakingly entered in to build decks off our phone without thumbing through our cards, as well as all of our decks and wish, buy, and trade lists. Needless to say, that is extremely frustrating, though there are some more recent options theyve added for cloud saves or whatever. So many hours wasted. Cest la vie.

We’ve owned this app for several years now, and you can tell the developer puts a lot of hard work into the updates. We use this as our primary app for building decks, looking up prices, and goldfish testing. Buy the app, it’s worth it. About one month ago, the app started crashing after displaying a message with something like, mvid not found. We dont fault the developer because sometimes iPhone updates interfere with 3rd party apps. However, we reached out to the developer letting them know of the issue. It has been at least two weeks without even a response email verifying they got our message. We understand it takes time to fix issues. We are concerned if we delete and reinstall the app that we will lose years of decklists. Please update the app and more importantly, use a system to let users know there complaint was received. Otherwise, great app. Keep up the updates!

The app will immediately crash once opened. Hopefully the devs with fix.

This app is easily the best MTG Deck Builder. Its cross platform, meaning they have a version for Windows, Mac, iPhone, and Android. It gives you all the customization you would ever want to build a deck. And the developers actually care about their product. You can tell by the care they put into the development. This app is nearly a decade old and still gets updated regularly. You never have to wait too long for a new set to be available, and, all in all, this is a terrific app made with some good old fashioned TLC!

Fist paid the $2.99 to download. Next found out we had to pay $4.99 to use the scanner function. THEN, we found out that you have to pay ANOTHER $2.99 to be able to use the collection function. Our friend thats been using it for a while, he showed it to us and loves it, but he even said he wouldnt pay that much to use it. Currently trying to get a refund, but so far no one has responded at all.

We’ve used a decked Builder for almost a decade(wow, we hadnt realized how old this app is), and we’ve never felt right using another since. Its simple without sacrificing utility, has an elegant playtesting function that few competitors do, and loses almost no functionality offline. Our only complaint is that new sets are added a little slowly for our taste, as Im someone who likes to theorycraft as new cards are spoiled.

This app has been going on for some time now. And from what its become its the best deck builder on mobile. The devs update the cards and bans very consistently.

The app settings dont match between the iPad and iPhone versions – the iPad version has more (and more useful) features that used to be in the iPhone version but arent anymore. Also, pricing sources no longer include Coolstuffinc, which is a bummer because thats our preferred vendor. And the iPhone app seems to be fetching lower quality card art with no option to use HD card art anymore. Finally, the lack of a dark mode is just kind of annoying.

Great app, always kept up to date.

Very handy and quick to add new cards.

We bought this years ago and have enjoyed it but recently they pushed an update that crashed our app. Our fault for not storing our decks on iCloud but we bought the photo add on to help reload all our decks. It only recognizes one set at a time. Itll take longer to switch between sets than it will to simply type the names in and search. We feel like we wasted $5.

This effectively killed off players that used your app to keep track of our collections. Effectively removing cards from the database app. Please allow players to keep track of their old ABUR 93/94 cards. We’ve used this app for years. And now cant keep track of our collection or decks.

Why is this thing taking up 3.5 gigs of memory?

Most recent update removed the ability to add a deck to our collection, and we cant see anyway to select a price source or have it calculate the price of our collection. Also, had multiple instances of scanning cards in, only to have them not get added to the collection file. We think the organization is great, but these are some key features that need to be fixed/added back to the software.

We got this app probably 4 years ago. We primarily use it on our phone, and it lets us manage our collection pretty well, and also create decks for EDH. We manage 10-20 deck and 7000+ cards of value. Works well with Google drive for syncing. The new sets are always prompt. They have been adding more speciality sets lately which has been nice too.

Scanner is AWFUL! Forces you to select the set before you scan the card which eliminates why you want to scan in the first place(speed). You pay for the app the have to pay for the scanner! The app is decent the scanner is BAD! The Mac app is awesome for brewing but the mobile set is a waste of money! Wish we could get our money back!

Between a pc version, iPad and iPhone, Id be out like 50 bucks. Just gonna stop here and find something else.

This is a great app for researching cards and managing inventory, but where it excels above all others is in its deck building capabilities. It is very easy to manage adding and removing cards from your deck as youre doing research and allows you to manage any number of deck files across any storage source supported by iOS (on device, iCloud, OneDrive, Dropbox etc.). It also allows you to view deck stats, enter notes and will add basic lands to your deck for you. You specify the number of lands you need and it figures out the proper ratio based on the cards already in your deck. And its great for researching cards in preparation for prereleases. Because the developer is responsive with database updates, we are able to view cards from upcoming sets days in advance. We have the paid versions for both the iPhone and iPad.

We’ve been using Decked Builder for years now on iOS, MacS, and Windows and we’ve loved the experience on all platforms. Easy navigation, great analytics, and superb customer support make this the only app Ill use to search cards and build decks.

We see some reviews complaining , and while yes some things could be better this is such a great tool for searching for cards and putting decks together . We keep our lists up to date with this app as we see tournament results . Used this app for probably 7 years now .

We love this app! We’ve been using it for years. There was a time it wasnt working as well but thats long gone. The developers respond quickly to our questions when we have an issue or a suggestion. We also use the collections and card scanner add-ons, its a few dollars but its well worth it especially if you have a lot of cards to enter in. We’ve tried the others but we use the BEST one: Decked Builder!

We’ve tried a few (more like 10) card managing apps and this one is by far the best. It lets us track our collection, some 20,000+ cards, while allowing us to build and test decks. The ability to sort by cards in our collection lets us minimize our expenditures and the function to see what decks a card is in helps us find where we have allocated all of our copies. We cannot express enough how much this app has helped us maintain and organize our cards both in and out of decks.

Only thing that would be great if there was column for commander for the deck building it helps to know what in the deck and what the commander is.

The pricing mechanic is still broken and causes instant crashes. It has been a problem now for several weeks and no update to fix the issue.

UPLOAD PRICES ALREADY FOR THEROS BEYOND DEATH, only app that does not have prices how sad. And its 2020 update this app!!!

We enjoy commander very much and wanted an app that was similar to delver lens, which is on Android. And free. We got this app originally to catalog and be able to easily see whats in our commander decks (eight of them). Then we come to find out the scanning with a phone method of entering cards into a deck list is a paid feature (cost more than the app) and is a complete pain to use. For 100 card decks that span many sets, it is ridiculous that you would have to select a set before scanning each card rather than having it scan automatically and give the option to change the set after scan. Delver lens has this so it is in fact possible. This is lazy and a ripoff honestly. For the reference part of the app, no ability to search by color identity which is a serious drawback for commander. Definitely not happy with this product and am surprised functionality for the fastest growing and one of the most popular formats is this lacking.

Firstly, we must comment on the dev team here. Simply stellar! They update regularly and add in new sets before release. With a very recent update there were some bugs. One in particular made the searching for a set function broken. We emailed their support team with screen shots showing the bug, and within 2 weeks they fixed it. Truly amazing team! Now onto this app: we use it to search for cards to brew commander decks, make shopping lists as well as inventory control. We deal in singles and we used to have a shared spreadsheet to manage our inventory. This was a LOT of work to catalog your collection/inventory. With the decked app features all unlocked, there is no need for such a tedious spreadsheet. Simply search for the set you are scanning in, then snap a pic of each individual card. Someone want to buy/trade with you? Search for the card in the app and at the bottom youll see how many you have. Need to know the value of the card? Click at the top to open up your price source. Need to sell a lot of cards in bulk? Export your collection into a CSV file and email of an extremely detailed list for the buyer to look over. Once youve sold the cards out of your inventory just hit the minus button on your collection to take it out of inventory. All in all, there is no other app that even comes close (and there probably never will be). $14.99 to unlock all the features sounds like a lot for an app, but if you are a deck brewer and seller, this is simply a must have app.

Love this app Used it for years but the test deck no longer works Edit: fixed so back to 5 star you go.
