Player Experience Highlights

Community Insight:

This game is excellent. No straining our eyes to see in hidden objects. Some companies must think hidden objects means to blear everything out to where youll never find it. Took us awhile to realize we didnt need to use the hint button so much while doing the hidden objects until we noticed it had hidden hidden. Lol. We dont mind having to find a key within to open say a drawer, but other companies darken it out so much you couldnt see the object if you tried. That isnt fair. You guys have a fair game. We do have to use hint button to find our way around else where in the game because Im old cant concentrate like we used to though. Thank you for a very nice game. Now back to the game (in a little while of course ).

We cant read the little letters. We have problem vision. Thank you.

Love love love this game. A MUST HAVE.

Ive played a lot of HOGs. This one is quite reasonable. The HO panels are clever. The puzzles are sometimes a bit tedious, but you can always skip them. Im not done yet, but it seems to have decent length. All in all, a nice, leisurely experience.

We love this game! We would rate it 10 stars, if possible. We have not played a mystery game in about 2 years, because they were either boring or repetitive. This game is so unique and well done that we are totally amazed! Good work, creators.

This is the first game of this nature that we have enjoyed in a while.

All perfect and the price is right.

We are enjoying this game. The graphics are fabulous and theres a real storyline. Games are rather simple and some HOS are pretty dark. Several times we had to use a hint and each time the object we were seeking was impossible to see even after using the hint! A few times the next step we needed to take was difficult to ascertain. This being said – the characters are well rounded and the general atmosphere (Paris) is hard to beat.

We rarely give a game 5 stars, but we really enjoyed this game! Great graphics, fun puzzles…it didnt insult our intelligence and was a real pleasure.

This game was one of the best Ive played in a long time. We own nearly every Big Fish game and was looking for a way to kill a rainy afternoon. We paid full price for this one and it was worth double that. The storyline is great. Sure, there is some predictable elements, but there are enough twists to be engaging and there were even a couple of places that made us startle. The Paris scenes are realistic. The voice actors are excellent. The French accents are spot on without being silly. We generally turn the music off immediately, but didnt with this one. It reminded us of the Cadenza series both in the music and the animation style. We cant wait for the next Donna Brave.

We kinda have crush on Inspector Laroche.

Addictive. Beautiful setting in 1920s Paris. Lots of characters to interact with. Long elaborate story. Its not perfectsome spots are too dark and the placement of objects can be picky. But play is smooth overall. Compared to many out now, this is a winner.

We really enjoyed the game, even when we got stuck.

We would prefer the hint button recharged faster in casual mode.

We enjoyed this game from start to finish. The music was great, the story was interesting. We had no technical problems, no crashes. HOP scenes were fun. When done, we were able to go back and play them again, and also a mega HOP bonus. We would have liked to play some of the puzzles again, but most were not available after you finished the game. We also liked that once we finished, it told us that we had missed one artifact (blast!), but it showed us what scene it was in, and we had a 2nd chance to find it. We will play this one again, and we look forward to more in this series.

This game is challenging and interesting. More like this one.

Excellent variety of puzzles and HOPs. Beautiful scenery. Engrossing plot. Very responsive, interactive map. Morphing objects within the HOPs. Second chance to find missed collectibles! Symbol shows whether or not you have located a collectible (not shown on map). Believable voice and sound tracks. Extra super HOP in the Bonus section. Suggestion: please make the refresh rate faster than 15 seconds. Mad Hat is our favorite company. They always produce five star games! Big Fish – it is getting more and more difficult to write a review once the game is finished.

What a Wonderful & Unique storyline with adventure and suspense. The originality from the characters to the tasks needed to perform are outstanding! Mad Head games never disappoints in our view. There are collectibles and morphing objects, along with a lot of character interaction. This game is so well done – from wonderful hidden object scenes – some interactive, puzzles were of a unique variety, some more simple than others. Overall a Great Mystery -one that you wont want to put down. Highly recommend buying this game – hopefully others will enjoy this as much as we did. This storyline, along with the beautiful graphics, scenes of Paris will really draw you in and keep you engrossed in the game. A Huge Thanks to the developers and Big Fish for providing such Great Entertainment!!! ( Sorry to see this end) KdBoots – Looking forward to our next New Release – we think were on a roll now. 5 plus extra s for us. Happy Gaming Everyone.

Update to our original review 3 years ago. Well, we purchased the game at full price. We could never find it on sale. We enjoyed this game as much if not more than the first time we played it. It is full of clever hidden object games throughout. The morphing symbol is a great challenge but not impossible tomfind. The story flows well. The mid section has some creepy scenes, but most were easy on the senses. We really can't express enough how fun this game is. If only the text were larger… Its almost too tiny to read, thus the deduction of one star. Other than the text size, this creative game is a winner.

Innovative mini games, lots of different styles of HOS, long game, and interesting gameplay. Story starts out intriguing, but really falls down at the end and makes no sense at all. Why create the strangler in the first place? Why kill the members of the golden circle club? None of that is ever explained. If you ignore the storyline shortcomings, its a very fun game to play. Oh, and we loved the Art Deco motifs, and the quaint and beautiful streets of Paris. Nice French accents as well, for the most part. Great game.

This is an interesting game but its very dark…..items are smallish and hard to find. Mostly we dont like that the print is very light…hard to read. We are older but Ive played tons of these games……this is the first time we have felt this. All that said …the art is great…..the story is fine……we will keep plugging along.

The story is sensible and easy-ish to follow. The graphics are good. The puzzles are – for the most part – easy to figure out, not necessarily to solve. The HOs are good and varied. We dont use the map much, so we cant say if it works. But everything else in the game (Im almost done) is glitch free. Which is saying something since we couldnt even enter our name into a game recently. When did quantity, not quality, become the goal with these games? Oh, we bought this game on sale and suggest you do likewise.

Although this wasnt the most innovative game from Mad Head, it was the first in a new series and we found it enjoyable and entertaining to play. The storyline held our interest. You could customize settings. The graphics were not the sharpest, but they were pleasing Art Deco era and we love games set during the 1920s. There was a journal with clues and tasks. Inventory was labeled and interactive and there were complex items to assemble. We were provided with an in-game teleport map to transport us instantaneously between locations. Collectibles at each location was a swirl symbol. Morphing objects were confined to the HO scenes. Those scenes had variation but none were as unusual as we have seen in other games by this developer. There was a mix of puzzles/games. Some were rotational, others were codes, and still others were games of dexterity. Many were simplistic but we still enjoyed most of them. The gimmick in this game was an amulet, but we wont go into details. At least with Mad Head you dont have to drag and drop inventory; you click on the tool you want to use and the area where you want to use it and it works well! The game ran very smoothly. However it was a very short game even inclusive of the bonus adventure. We deducted a star for length and for inferior graphics. This was still a good solid game, especially at the sale price and we will be looking forward to the next one in this series.

We love the story but the writing too small especially with all the reading then sometimes ur sound goes completely out then u CANT PLAY TRIAL until u BUY FULLGAME.

Now this is what we expect from a Mad Heads Game! The plot line is suspenseful and enjoyable. The only reason we did not give this 5 stars is because since we play on a iPhone we had a hard time clicking the menu button due to it was so small and the directions to games are written in very small print. Besides that we really hope this turns into a series of equal if not better quality. We definitely say buy and enjoy.

If there is one developer who frequently demonstrates the exceptional talent and divergent thinking to break out of the conventional formulas comprising most HOAs, leading to novel ideas and unordinary twists on gameplay, it is, in our opinion, Madhead Games. This game is a fresh beginning to a captivating new series. This developer's stimulative storytelling techniques satisfy our yearning for a well-constructed plot, rousing our curiosity as it unfolds. Another area where this developer shines is their ability to develop robust characters. The characters are compelling, with each character exhibiting distinct personalities as every human does. The artistic design of the environment demonstrates the Art Deco period of 1920s Paris. Art Deco was an architectural and decorative style characterized by geometric patterns, featuring bold and clashing colors; and this artistic fashion is presented in furniture upholstery, carpets, screens, posters, wallpaper, and fabrics. The quaint ambiance of Parisian life is, in our opinion, realistically rendered, through the depictions of charming terraces and cafes; old architectural buildings; and eerie underground catacombs, saturated with burning candles and skeletal remains. The music fits the time period, evoking a seductively sophisticated aura, such as the soothing melodies on the piano. The varied HOSs are sometimes story-driven, with one such scene having you find items in accordance with narrative backstory. The creativity presented within the HOSs is customary for Madhead, but we do not detect any hints of novelty. We like the one in which you find symbols on abstract, neon-colored patterns, switching between each pattern. The puzzles are clever, and they suit the theme of storyline; we like the puzzle in which you need to beat the peddler in a game of forming the most paired items. A few puzzles are of medium-level difficulty; however, most are too elementary for our preference. You collect two sets of collectibles. The "trademark" set blends into the atmosphere; the other set morphs within the HOSs. We do have a trivial grouse: you must individually drag over each inventory item of the same kind instead of applying them all simultaneously an old-school practice. Overall, it is a solid production, one that we find to be satisfying. Our true rating is 4 stars, mainly deducting a full star for the lack of challenge of both the gameplay only two scenes are active at a time and the puzzles.

Some HOPs require you to leave and do something else. No indication of this. If you touch too quickly it complains, even though you have to touch all over to find items hidden under unrelated ones.

The captions are too small and hard to read. A little dark all round to see what your next step would be.

Send like it could be a great game but the font size ruins it. We get a headache staring at the screen trying to decipher the itty bitty writing.

We like the game so far but the writing is barely legible. Ive played other games where it was bigger. We wear glasses and its still hard to read.

This was a disappointing game to us although we did enjoy the storyline. Graphics were good but the storyline didnt flow well nor did it flow logically.

Graphics kind of bland, story not interesting.

We really like the mystery, but had a real problem getting the objects to interact so we could proceed. Id hover, move it around, nothing would work. Very frustrating! And puzzles are pretty easy. Cant Recommend this, unfortunately.

We really liked this play this game but all the wording was so very tiny….an we have 20/20 vision !! This looked like a great game we would have like played. Dont you developers try the games on the iPhone before you release? Rhetorical, we know you do. You can do better.

MadHead, the only game maker who doesnt give you options to fully control game environments? Makes you resort to using iPad controls for complete silence…very frustrating.

We had to use 2 hints on the postcard part. It wasnt obvious that the postcards were in another place in the entire scene. Iplay forum, not brain bashing puzzles right at the beginning of the game. Maybe thats why its on sale.

So do the puzzles that are nonsensical.

This game has an annoying sound of dogs barking the volume will not totally mute without making a sound as if the volume will not turn off . T he game was not enjoyable due to the background noise Buyer Beware.

Wont let us play free trial game. Try to put name in & doesnt do anything. Playing on an we pad.

The wording is too small to read. The pictures are dark and hard to see. We cant find the logo in most pictures because its too dark. Call this a puzzle game. Not a hidden object game. There are more other puzzles than hidden object screens. And they are dark and make little sense. Sometimes we click on things we know we need and nothing happens. The hint clicks on the same place but we still have to tap several times. Frustrating. Or, dont even bother. We will finish this because we paid for it, then delete it.

We have the environment sounds ALL the way down in the settings, but once we got to a certain point, there was a dog barking CONSTANTLY in the background. Even when we went inside Uncle Andres apartment we could still hear it. Im literally being driven MAD by that sound and now we cant get it out of our head. Why would you put something so ANNOYING in s game.

The scenes are so dark some of the items are impossible to find without a hint. The response time when you click has a very noticeable lag that makes the game-play almost maddening. To date this is the first game we've played (after many years on bigfish) with the lag problem but unfortunately not the first with the dark scenes.

Trying to figure out what your supposed to do with this game is beyond confusing. We only started the game, and got to the newspaper stand. We did most of the things required, but hated every minute of it. Pay for it? Heck, no. Dont want to even play it.

Impossibly tiny text – impossibly tiny everything. Not just irritating or inconvenient, actually unplayable.

We just tried this game and only got to examine the news paper, 2nd page, and it circled a group of people and wouldnt and that was it. Im sure after circling the group, it was suppose to do something but what.
