Player Experience Highlights
Community Insight:
This game brings us back so many great memories for the 3DS! We remember playing this demo all the time! But now, we can finally play the full version on mobile.
The pixelated art style gives a really charming feel and looks to the game, not to mention the amazing RPG style gameplay.
The graphics are so cute and the map is so fun to explore! 100% recommend.
If youre looking for a fun yet interesting RPG game, look no further! Though you might wanna keep your eyes peeled in game because things arent as they seem 7/10 great game with a great replay value.
Easily one of the best free games on the App Store. Its kind of legend of zelda meets ittle dew. It took us 5 hours (off and on) to complete it, you have to pay attention because there are lots of secrets hidden in this game. Some speed runners can finish in 30 mins tho.
This is actually one of the few games that we have made a review on. This game is awesome, it reminds us of old Zelda games that you had to solve the puzzle to open a door or get to the next stage. Definitely recommend playing even though its not infinite like other games its definitely worth your time.
Maybe you could set up a house and other npcs could live there too as you cleared out the monsters. Also maybe an online mode? Your avatar could be your character and name could be, well, your name. Five stars anyway, for beautiful gameplay, playability, and art.
Why are there people comparing this to the Legend of Zelda. Yeah sure this game has puzzles like in LoZ but gameplay/battle system is more of Ys 1 and 2 as in order to attack you need to bump into enemies. But unlike Ys 1 and 2 you cant angle your character to prevent damage to yourself. This game allow you to gain xp unlike LoZ to become stronger in similarity to Ys were you can become strong enough to not take any direct dmg, inflict instant kill, and not gain xp from lower tier enemies when bumping into them (been a hot minute since we played Ys 1 and 2 so correct us if Im wrong). Both LoZ and Ys are the same but different when it comes down to the battle system, xp gaining, weapon and armor tier, to name a few.
A quarter of your time will be spent grinding out xp to make the next puzzle possible. Why include tedium in a game? Were the developers padding for the sake of increased playtime? Unfortunately, some of these "puzzles", which you spend a few minutes apiece grinding for, are just "find the false wall, dummy." Not much of a puzzle. Not worth anyone's time. Other than that, without spoiling anything, the final battle feels unnatural and stunted while locked to a grid in a new game mode that is not meant to be grid-based. The graphics, story, and polish show that the developer does care about the game but that doesn't excuse or explain the massive blunders that carried into the final design. Neither great nor bad, it occupies the same forgettable place that many games do.
Fairune was always a great and fun game. But this port is abysmal. The menu hud looks absolutely atrocious, the menu hud glitches constantly, and almost all of the original pause menu graphics are yeeting out for a generic black screen. The PC and Switch ports are still worse than the 3DS version, but those are way better than this garbage.
Its an excessively short game with 0 replay value, and who introduces completely different game play for the final boss? Got to the end and it just ruined the game for us.
Most boring and our least favorite battle system. Literally just walk over anything at anytime just bulldoze your way through. Extremely easy game beatable easily on first attempt.
We are so far on our third time playing this. We really love this game. We have a 3DS and we saw there was a fairune 2. Please please PLEASE put that on mobile although we have an iPad 3 so can it be lower than 9.3 iOS please.
We like the Nintendo Switch version much better, not just because its ad free, but the controls seem a lot better. That being said, you cant go wrong with its price point and you can still have fun playing it.
It would be wonderful if this game had controller support! We really enjoy it! Also please consider porting Kamiko and Fairune 2 to iOS~ thank you! :D.
We love the game and the nostalgia that it brings for a Zelda fan. But can we get a hook up to a walk trough.
This is easily one of the best games Ive ever played. Although, we do wish you could play as different characters, like the Swordsman from Dranicia or something like that. Over we give this game 5 stars.
If developers arent going to push the limits of the graphics and game engines used on iOS the least they can do is make something fun and beautiful like Fairrune. This game is really great. Ill keep our eyes out for any new games from them (a sequel?).
One star until you make it support portrait mode rotation so Im not sitting here smashing an iPad charger into our chest. Its 2018 stop being lazy.
We thought it looked really fun. It it said explore your surroundings well what monsters don't hurt girls in pretty dresses and we can't kill anything very dissapointed.
This game has same story and gameplay as hydlide!! Do not get this game, because hydlide was terrible and this is the same way. Only thing changed was the character turning into a girl.
Plays similarly to the original Zelda titles. Highly recommend.
We really loved this game and it's secrets, but we prefer the 3ds version.
We need the sequel released for the iPhone! Plus- when is Fairune 3 coming.
We can't believe this gem is free. So very impressed from start to finish.
Definitely the best game we've played on our phone. It's fun, simple, and makes you have to think on a few parts. They for sure put time and effort into it. We never really got stuck on any part of it and it still took us a good 2-3 hours to beat. So if you're not the best at figuring out what to do it could take you longer. For sure get it you won't be disappointed.
We just wish there were more games like this around. It was quite gratifying to explore and discover how to access new areas.
We're a Nintendo fanboya console gamer. We get bored with all of the gimmicks the App Store games try to substitute for good gameplay. But this game has it. We didn't want to put our phone down. We love this diamond-in-the-rough game and you should def download it.
The thing we like most about this game is that it doesn't tell you much of anything but rather leaves it to you to figure it out. It's seems simple at first but is deceptively complex, with lots of secret passages, hidden rooms and puzzles. For such a small world we couldn't believe how often we found ourselves wandering around hopelessly lost! The enemies are not too hard but the last boss is a real challenge. Overall, this was just plain fun.
If you expect Zelda-style action RPG battles you will probably be disappointed, but that is not this game's style. While the battling is pretty much limited to intentionally running into enemies that are not too hard or too easy based on your level, the whole experience is rich and has us wanting more. The graphics and presentation are bright and colorful, and the real joy for us is in exploring and solving puzzles then exploring areas we couldn't reach before.
We can't put this game down! We definitely recommend it.
Solid couple hours of fun. No in-app purchases, it's completely free.
It's awesome and a smooth app for the most part, the only problem is that the app occasionally bugs out and closes us out of the game. Still a great app though.
We loved this game. It was clearly well thought and furthermore well put together. A Great app for anyone willing to download. SPOILER. Nah we're just kidding.
An awesomely made game that makes us feel all fuzzy inside for some reason. Really fun to play. We suggest you do so.
Takes a little bit of adjusting to start with, but each of the puzzles is solvable as long as you explore and walk into stuff. Just make sure you fully explore each area before you continue or you might be left Super frustrated later.
This game was super fun and does not bug. We have been looking for a game like this forever! We played this over 3 times and still love it! Best game ever (on ios).
This game really makes you think to progress, it's almost all puzzles but solving them is just so satisfying Plus the final boss is incredibly epic.
It reminded us a lot of pokemon in the games appearance, which is always a plus in our opinion. However, there were a few tedious moments (ie when we left a particular item back in a previous dungeon/arena thing and had to go back and fetch it and bring it to the next arena so we finally finish the game. That could've been our own problem, though.
We're in love and we've been playing for about 13 min now! This game is everything we've been looking for, it's fun, adventurous, puzzling, and challenging! We would highly recommend this to people who liked the original 2d Zelda games! This game is just downright amazing.
This is an amazingly fun and creative game. Battles work by the main character walking over enemies that at the same level or 1 level higher and die instantly. If the enemy is the same level as you then you take -1 HP. If it is 1 level higher then you can still defeat it, but it does -2 HP. Every enemy you kill gives you 1 EXP, unless you find the hidden Boost that doubles it (2). There are hidden boosts and rare enemies to fight. The battles are simple and differ from normal RPG battles. The game's graphics are cute and colorful. This Zelda-type RPG is truly fun and creative for a iOS game and is really well made. If you're wanting a nice RPG with good graphics, fun gameplay, lots of exploring, helpful hidden objects, and several secret enemies all at the tip of your fingers, then we could not recommend a better game.
For being an iPhone game it's really well made! The music is nice, the characters are cute and the final boss is challenging.
Think legend of zelda on the NES… Or dragon warrior… Lots of simple, simple adventure. Perfect for a mobile RPG. Can wait for more.
This game reminds us of the classics of the NES days. It's difficult, but not impossible. There are hints left throughout. It's been a while since we liked a game so much. It's a great feeling to overcome the obstacles and be rewarded. Hate the controls, but the quality of the game is just that good.
This game was so much more than we expected. We loved exploring the world and we loved progressing through the game. The secrets you find occasionally are really rewarding, and the puzzles have the adventure point and click feel of being interesting solutions. We absolutely loved this game and honestly we would have paid money to play it, we are so glad we chose to download this. If you're a fan of the old school adventure games like Legend of Zelda or Hydlide, and enjoy unique puzzles and gorgeous sprite art, do yourself a favor and pick this up.
We don't know how to get to the bridge.
It's like hydlide with grinding to continue but other wise it's great just consult a Prima Strategy guide first.
Cute RPG game that will keep you occupied on car rides. However, the fact that you always lose HP when fighting enemies is a little annoying, and it is prone to getting stuck in an endless loop of bringing you to the App Store for ads.
We were surprised when we saw this game on the AppStore for free because on 3DS it's like $1.99.
Imagine if the original Legend of Zelda had been made first on the app store, this would probably be it. It has all the fun, cryptic puzzle solving and exploring of the original LoZ but its held back by Mobile game design. Fighting enemies is done by running straight into them, meaning that you take damage every time you deal it. Once you kill enough enemies you get a level up that allows you to be immune to low level monsters and lets you kill higher level ones. This system holds you back from progressing the game. You'll always have to grind enemies before you move forward so that you are strong enough to solve the next puzzle. Thats very detrimental to the game's fun factor. You are always stopped in your tracks because you don't yet have enough health to continue. It's a fun game when you're solving puzzles, but it gets dreadful when you have to grind. Still, it's a small file and free, definitely worth a try.
