Community Insight:
Our first ever time playing a final fantasy game and Im absolutely loving it thanks so much.
Have not played it since the 90s but it was a great time that we truly enjoyed.
Thank you for bringing this game back for mobile. Not only is it an amazing game, but it brings back memories and nostalgia from our childhood as the first RPG we ever played (way back in 1994 on Super Nintendo!), and its so great to play again. For the mobile implementation itself: the high res menu screens, updated music, and many other aspects are really nice improvements over the original game. And the Quick Save feature is super appreciated for being able to play at random times without having to sit down long enough to find a save point. Really enjoying playing this game again. If we had one nitpick to make, it would be to let us pass through the initial loading splash screens faster. IOS seems to like killing the game in the background between play times, and it takes a while to go through them. But thank you again for building/releasing this game for mobile iOS.
We gave Cid 5 delicious fish at the beginning of the WoR and he died!!! So now we cant get that achievement!!!! Not cool gotta play the game again which we dont mind but thats a bugger!!! FIX IT.
We want to give 5 stars, but not until the GBA content is included.
We like the game, but we dont understand why they removed the GBA content (e.g. Dragons den). Those were really fun.
Now has controller support for players who wanted it like us.
One of our all-time favorite games. We have played through this on other platforms…but would love it to be on Apple TV to play alongside our kids on a big screen.
Excellent remaster of a classic. Disregard any reviews that say there is no controller support. The game has been updated to support them.
Great remaster but put it on the apple TV.
Thanks for adding gamepad support, best game ever.
While this is the best game in the bundle, it has the worst controls in the bundle. Tap mode doesnt work outside of dungeons and towns, where it would be most useful. The airship controls have an axis option, but this should be the default control. The chocobo controls are so weird we just didnt use chocobos. The game also appears to have frozen up before we got to the end credits, so Im unsure what happens to Terra.
Great game, and the quality of life improvements are phenomenal. We wonder why the same game on Steam kept the Original soundtrack option, but the iOS versions only have the new musical arrangements.
It goes without saying that in Squares PR Games this is the one everyone was expecting to benefit the most. And correctly so FF6 has the most improvements and updates to to this remaster that there is practically no reason to return to the other versions (except GBA). So Ill keep our review brief and only focused on the iOS experience. Whether youre playing on iPhone or iPad the game is stunning with text, maps, and models clearly visible no matter the resolution. And as of now THERE IS CONTROLLER SUPPORT but with a few exceptions like naming characters. Overall if great way to pick up and play the game, little pricey but this is the one everyone recommends and wanted to get anyways so worth the price tag.
Awesome game! Brings us back. Although trying to complete the rage achieves is quite troublesome since the ninja doesnt spawn in the Veldt once encountered. Ive encountered the ninja in the sealed cave and on the floating continent. The ninja doesnt spawn though. Ive tried to see if they would spawn after encountering them in the sealed cave and then again when encountering them on the floating continent with no luck.
We are playing this game on an iPhone 15 Pro with a Backbone gamepad. Im not able to get through the caves since our party switching does not work with the mogs. Additionally, music does not play through our phone speakers. Which sort of cheapens the experience of the game. Overall this game is unplayable on our iPhone. Which is a pity because it is a great game.
This remaster was terribly done. The sound effects are terrible. And the music remaster is an abomination. The additional graphics they mixed in clash with the main game art, making the original art look dreadfully dated. We had to stop playing. The game does not crash so 2 stars from us.
Despite all the mixed changes in the remaster, NO CONTROLLER SUPPORT has got to be the biggest flaw by far.
From the title, they added controller support! That was the biggest thing they needed, it was tough to play otherwise because your thumbs get in the way of the screen. The pixel art is beautiful, the music is remastered, and the game is mobile! Wonderful.
We LOVE the original Final Fantasy games so you can only imagine how happy we were to learn about these new versions. In good faith we bought the whole FF Pixel Remaster bundle. We were immediately upset to see there was no controller support. When we went online to see if an update was pending, we were dismayed to find out that not only has there NOT been an update in ages, but the PS4 and Switch versions have alternate music tracks, no encounter mode, and an EXP boost mode! As a family man with a rather busy schedule, those last two features would have been extremely welcome. Im unfortunately going to issue request for a refund. Hopefully someday Square will find it in there hearts to make all versions have the same feature set.
For once we have played a version of this game based on the original and not the remakes with the extra features. The only thing we would ask is a controller support. We have the Backbone controller accessory. It would be awesome for this game and rest of the Pixel Remaster games have controller support too.
We love this game and we actually purchased it to play with our backbone external controller for iPhone and we think it would be awesome with support as we didnt realize it didnt have it.
10/10 music is slammin and the touch screen controls work fine if you have normal human fingers.
We love this game so much but it would be so much better if it had controller support.
Backbone controller not supported.
We love ff 6 but please add controller support.
Love the app. Would also love the cheats added to 7, 8, and 9.
We really love all the final fantasy games can you please add controller support. This would be perfect.
Love the game needs controller support now.
Great port but needs controller support.
We heard that this was better than vii, which we have on switch, and LOVE, but we thought we would never be able to get vi. Well here it is! You can play it in slightly remastered graphics, or original! Overall, the game is perfect! A good story, maybe not as entertaining as vii, but still very good, gameplay is great, controls are a little awkward, but good considering its on mobile. Would be five if it had controller support. Please square! Everyone wants it! It would be a great experience, a fantastic one, we just need controller support. Itll even sell better! Add controller support.
Love it but wish it worked with backbone.
Love this game. Recently bought a backbone and wish the game could be played with it.
The widescreen format is a bit lost if your thumbs are all over the edges.
Great game but we wish it had back bone one and other mifi controller support.
Good port but touchscreen only prevents greatness.
We love this game but there is no controller support. The original version has it so Im tempted to just play that instead.
The game looks beautiful but it has no support for controllers. We would love to see it have the same kind of support that the Chrono Trigger port got.
If we could play this game with a controller that would be great.
The last version had the moogle to tell you where to go next. Now in this remake, we get lost since its not there.
Honestly Im not sure why we had so much trouble sticking through this game on the SNES. The story kept us hooked, most of the characters are great, and the soundtrack is amazing. That all being said, we honestly dont care for the Magicite system. Be prepared to grind constantly if you want to get your party members to learn all or most of the magic in the game. Its just way too much micromanaging and it brings the pace of the game to a crawl. We much prefer the job system, especially with the improvements they made to it in Final Fantasy V. Also the final boss against Kefka is buggy as all get out. We beat him on our second or third attempt and after his death animation played out, the game froze up on us. Thats not counting several other occasions where the game froze on us during the final boss. We cant be bothered to go through that final fight again after all the bugs we experienced. Hopefully the devs will fix this in a patch/update. Until then, Id just stick with the original SNES game.
Needs controller support please.
Controller support would made this game even better.
The soundtrack is neat how they recorded it with real instruments, but they changed a lot of things like making it more difficult to run from battle and other things. The spell reraise will not prevent you from getting a game over. For the first time in our gaming history (outside of time control events or special circumstances) we got a game over while our entire team was still alive. One major appeal to this game was the possibility to beat it at a very low level which was challenging enough in the original. With the changes made in this version it is a nightmare and possibly even impossible. A lot of the nostalgia is gone for us also due to so many changes in the sound effects and other things. We would recommend getting an older version. The only thing this version has to offer is the soundtrack.
Id like controller support for this game.
This game is awesome but would be so much better with controller support.
Can we get some control support every version (switch, ps4, ps5 have it).
Bought this game thinking it had controller support, thing is we know its an amazing game but lack of controller support is holding us and many others back from playing it.
Its a great game. It needs controller support.
Such a fun classic Im happy to have on the go! When connected to a Bluetooth speaker there is the in game music and sound effects but when just by itself no sound or music comes out of the phone.
