Dive into Front Wars

Front Wars is a turn-based strategy game. Take control of allied troops and revive the great battles of the second world war in a tense campaign against the german army. You can challenge your friends online on Facebook, Gamecenter or by the passing the device.

The two armies take turns building and commanding units on a grid-based map. The objective is to defeat the enemy army. There are two ways to defeat an opponent: destroy every one of the opponent’s units on the map or capture the opponent’s headquarters. The terrain on a map affects unit range of movements and the defense attributes of units stationed in that terrain. Capturing cities and enemy buildings will give the player new fundings at the beginning of each turn, with which the player can create a variety of new units (soldiers, tanks, planes, ships…) to gain power over his opponent.

The game features:

  • Revive great battles of the second World War in a tense Solo Campaign
  • 26 missions
  • 15 different Units : Soldiers, Tanks, Planes, Ships…
  • 3 difficulty levels
  • Cross Platform Online Turn-based multiplayer using Facebook
  • Beautiful HD Graphics

Find out what gamers are saying about Front Wars:

This game is very fun we can never get bored of this game all of the new levels are great and fun nice job on this game.

First, we just want to point out ALL of the glitches with the Game Editor. We love how you put it in this game, but there are so many times our game glitches or crashed. Like we were creating a game, and we decided to test it, so we played and there were bridges EVERYWHERE. This is a great game, and the campaign is pretty simple but hard. (and fun) we do have a couple ideas to make it a better game: 1. More buildings, decorations, etc we think that you should add some more War-themed building and decorations, such as bunkers, Which could be captured but be able to shoot, and trenches, which could provide cover for anyone in them. 2. Trains we know that the Germans used a lot of trains in WW2 and WW1, so we think you should add some. Our idea is that a train station should be a new building. You will be able to attach train tracks, which could work like roads, out any side. If road and train tracks meet they could pass through. When you enter the train stations menu, you can build a train. Select one, and the train will appear inside the train station. Then you can move across any tracks connected to the station. Ideas for types of trains: -Cargo Train (Light health, Works like a landing craft or transport truck) -Light Armored Train (Light Health, Light artillery attack) -Heavy Armored Train (Heavy Health, Heavy artillery attack) 3. Commanders Commanders are slightly more resilient, and deal a little more damage. Not too much else to say.

We’ve been playing back and forth with our brother via separate devices, but now neither he nor anyone else is able to get a request for a new game to work.

As far as this type of game goes, this one is a bummer. Most battles go like this: the enemy has way more resources than you, find the trick, spend 50 turns making it work. Most boards, all youre doing is watching the obvious play out. Thats not to say its always obvious, but when it becomes obvious, its incredibly boring. So much marching so much just getting there. And you gain access to units that you seem never to be able to produce. So if you need to use your subs strategically, you need to use them strategically ONE SPECIFIC WAY. Theres no room for your play style.

Its barely passable as a cheap Advance Wars knockoff. Game doesnt seem to have any original mechanics not also found in AW, plus its missing a ton of polish like real animations for units or any game options at all. Units are very small and hard to select, the APC / troop transport trucks show a maximum move range when selected that you cant actually MOVE to (what?) The only good thing is that it uses the Allies / Axis powers which is cool. Unfortunately there is so much else going against the game we couldnt recommend it in good conscience. $4 down the drain!

Love this game! If you played Advanced Wars, you’ll like this. Keep it coming with the new campaigns!

We tried this game thinking it would be like Advance Wars. It doesn’t come close, but it has the potential to get there. We tried to buy the map editor and the Africa campaign, but they don’t work. That is a definite need-to-fix. If this game gets more attention and some updates it could become a very good game.

This is not worth your cash! Can’t create or build new units, game is extremely difficult on easy and one little mistake ruins the entire level, each stage is set up so you are suppose to do very precise moves which you don’t know about till you play 4-5 times. Nothing like advanced wars.

In our humble opinion, this game is a cheap rip off of Nintendo’s Advance Wars. We played it for several days and saw a lack of story line. We would not of bought it, if knew how bad it was.

Love the game, but crashed right as we were about to win. IOS 9.1.1 on iPad Air 2.

This is a fun game with a lot of potential for replayability except for the fact that the pinch to zoom does not work after a while. It makes is very difficult to control the play action as the boards are too large and the pieces are microscopic. Unless this is fixed, there are other similar games that are both less expensive and more playable.

So we bought the map builder thing and it keeps saying purchase fail why can’t we use it and we did buy it because we’re now down 1.99 on our account please help.

At this point it has two good campaigns, one from the Allies pov and one from the Axis pov. The Allied campaign must be completed and the Axis one is unlocked by purchase. While it had a number of skirmish maps the inclusion of a map editor has added to replay ability. The editor is still in beta but there are already a number of user created maps that do get ratings to help decide which ones to try. Great game!

More people need to be aware of this game and download it NOW. It’s got a couple bugs to be ironed out still, but let’s be honest: we’ve wanted an Advance Wars clone on iOS for a very long time, and THIS IS IT. Very exciting! Please keep the updates coming, thank you :)

We wanted to buy this app a few months ago, but we held off on paying the 3.99. At the time we read reviews saying this was comparable to Advanced Wars for the Game Boy Advanced. So we finally decided ok we’re gonna get this great game. But now this game is reduced to a menu screen that closes down 2 seconds after the game is opened! Please, please, please fix this, because we know this game can be awesome and attract a lot more people to buying it, if it was actually playable. Thank You.

Fix the crashing! Unacceptable!

Great game but it crashes every time you try to open the game.

Crashes non stop. Freezes when u select multiplayer. Should be refunding users. This is a joke. Very disappointing.

New update won’t let us do multiplayer. Constant loading screen pops up. 1 star until they fix it.

App immediately crashes upon opening.

We had so much high hopes and now the game requires 2$ for Level editor and you said it’d be free we payed for the Level Editor and now we can’t even use it or restore purchase :(

A shameless ripoff of the first "Advance Wars" game, without features like fuel consumption or CO abilities. That said, it is almost as fun. The gameplay could be fun, but could use more unit types and a create a battle mode. The WWII setting is cool, though it means the absence of units like AA missiles. It also means instead of helicopters, planes are used for transports. It’s not that big of a deal, but if you think about, it doesn’t make sense that a Dakota can land in a forest to take on passengers. And the US’s heavy tank is actually a tank destroyer (far less armor in real life), but there really weren’t any U.S. Heavy tanks in WWII until the last days of the European theater, so that is understandable. We also would like to see an expansion with other factions than the U.S. And Germany, like Russia, Britain, etc. The real issue with this game are the bugs: 1. The game breaking bug involves "transports" (trucks and transport planes). For some reason, the enemy AI will not attack transports, allowing you to use them to block pathways to allow you an impenetrable shield. We used this tactic very often, and only ONCE in the entire allied campaign did they attack it. 2. Additionally, infantry can capture objectives without exiting the transport. We assume this is a bug. When combined with the other transport related bug, you can often win a battle by sending a single transport with infantry to immediately capture the enemy HQ. 3. Whenever the game boots up, it says you need an update, but if you click "accept", it takes you to the store and no update can be found. This is minor, since you can just decline. 4. The online multiplayer doesn’t work at all (possibly related to the update bug). The screen just flashes. This game is fun, but needs more work to make it really good.

We wasted 3.99 on a in app purchase that don’t work..

Whenever we tap unlock on the access campaign after buying it its unable to purchase it says.

We love this game needs some work but has GREAT potential! Very addictive enjoyable anytime anywhere.

We love the fact that this game is simple to play. We dont like the fact that it is so easy to beat, even on hard. Please invest in a better AI player its completely dumb. Game has great potential if the AI player gets better.

We play this game solely for multiplayer as the AI is pretty dumb. It’s an Advance Wars clone without the extras (CO powers, etc.). That’s fine though, playing a simplified Advance Wars multiplayer is great. Whats not great is being asked repeatedly to connect to Facebook when you’re trying to select a game. You’ll spend an ordinate amount of time hitting cancel before you get to select anything. Then of course if you do start a match you might be forced to play a map you didn’t select. Your opponent may stop playing and the mechanisms for moving play forward are weak to non-existent. Your queue will fill up with inactive games and there’s just no way to eliminate them. More rarely, you’ll start a game and immediately lose with no play whatsoever. So that’s it in a nutshell. The basic question is do you want to play Advance Wars online or with a dumb AI, and if so, how long can you tolerate the buggy setup?

It’s a little pricey but it will be worth it in the long run if they make some updates that make it better like the sounds when a tank shoots. Also jeeps they shoot explosive bullets somehow lol.

We cannot thank whoever put this on here enough!! We have been looking for this game since we first played it on gameboy as a kid! It used to be called "advance wars" but this is pretty much the same game! This is seriously our favorite game of all time! Thank you!!

1st we would like to say this game is fun and we do enjoy playing. However we think it could use a little more, perhaps add 4 player with option to play against AI and a mode with shadows it’s pretty easy to predict what is going to happen when you can see what they are doing. It’s missing a few things that made advanced war so great but it’s off to a great start we hope the dev continues to make this game better.

Please add changing cutscene background based on terrain and a fog of war mechanic.

Expand naval combat and skirmish mode.

If you’re looking for a solid turn based war game this is it! It flawlessly ties in to different WW2 operations and campaigns. With lots of levels to win, you will be entertained for a good while before finally reaching the end. There are also many units to choose from, each with their own respective strengths and weaknesses. Leaving many good things to be had, but arguably so. For example the game has a great amount of ground and air units, however when it comes to sea combat you’re left with little options. A machine gun infantry unit (.30 cal and mg34 or mg42) would be a very nice addition, as well as u boats, submarines, and destroyers. The graphics are quite amazing, giving you real time combat cut scenes that are both entertaining to watch and animated nicely as well. Our biggest issue however is enemy AI, which seems to play more of a defensive role and will sometimes make strange choices, such as ignoring your infantry capturing buildings, and certain vehicle types. The German army also never seems to want to capture your headquarters to win, even if that building is severely exposed. The controls are also overall very intuitive, yet simple. Our only complaint is not being able to undo movement, if you make a mistake moving one of your units, you can’t change their position with a handy "confirm" button. All in all it’s a great game. It may have its flaws, but it doesn’t take away too much fun from the overall experience. Try it out, you won’t be disappointed. Sound: 8 Visuals: 9 Controls: 7 Gameplay: 6 Replay value: moderate Overall: 7.5.

Reminds us a lot of Nintendo’s Advance Wars. Best style of game like this on the iPad. We’l worth the price. Wish they had more levels or even a second game.

Being an avid player of Advance Wars for Nintendo for years, we have anxiously awaited an app along those lines. This is a great first pass!

Highly addicted game. Reminds us of advanced wars at GBA. However, the new updates of this game makes lag all the time. Please fix again the bug.

It’s a lot like advance wars. If you liked that game you will like this game.

We normally don’t write reviews, but when we came across this game we felt compelled to do so. We should start off by saying that we are a huge fan of Nintendo’s Advance Wars so it was nice to come across this nice little alternative. Most of the elements in this game mirror AW and it does a well job by never crashing like many other games on ios. There are no commanding officers in this game, so you don’t get the unique powers for choosing different armies. This game is set in the Second World War and you play as the allies against the axis. Very fun gameplay, and also addicting, but a problem with the gameplay to bring up is THERE IS NO OPTION TO SPEED UP THE MOVEMENT OF YOUR UNITS like in AW. Whenever you select a unit and move it to a desired location, your unit chugs along very slowly which slows your turn down DRAMATICALLY. This is why we didn’t give 5/5 stars…. This should be an easy fix though and it would make us more than happy to see an update resolving this issue. Everything else about the game is awesome though. GREAT POTENTIAL!

This is a great tactical game in the vein of Advance Wars. (Note: it is NOT a knockoff. The genre is older than AW, and this doesn’t have COs nor their powers.) You command a variety of units in a WWII setting in the European theatre. The units are interesting and diverse, so the rock-paper-scissors of this genre is in tact. There are also units of similar design but different function (e.g. Infantry vs. Mech). The production facilities are also different from AW so that you have a barracks separate from a factory. The unit balance is acceptable. Unfortunately, you cannot check damage before committing to a move. If you move, you move. You then have the choice of attacking or not, and you may move all your units before attacking with another unit. Not being able to check damage is slightly annoying, but being able to move other units around before attacking with one is convenient, where perhaps one unit is in another’s way, but you want the second unit to attack first. You move the first, move and attack with the second, then attack with the first. Multiplayer is barebones, and part of that is the small community of players currently playing. It functions, and we have hopes it improves in the future. This is a genre long overdue on mobile devices, and with Front Wars, we finally have a glimmer of hope that it has arrived.

Let us start by saying the game play is good and very AW like. Pros: Love the correct damage percentages on the enemy that are already at reduced power. Vast improvement over AW. Interesting that you can capture territories while inside transport craft Interesting that cities that you have tried to capture remain partially captured until you come back to finish. Cons : buggy program. Game Center gameplay is exceptionally buggy. We can’t completely remove all battle animation like we can in AW. No CO powers or COs for that matter. Only a few levels in the campaign mode. Make a second version or make more levels for us. You are on to something brilliant!

We finally have a substitute for Advance Wars. One great aspect of this app is that it’s being continually tweaked and expanded. We finished the first version the same day we got it. Fortunately, they keep adding battles. One concern: we cannot determine the best way to get 3 stars for certain battles. Is it the number of turns, the lack of lost units or is it about capturing the enemy HQ? Great game!

You should do a pacific theatre. Battleships destroyers aircraft carriers. You guys should also make a mode that you can build maps like the old advanced wars where you can set up barracks ports and warehouses etc. Maybe add some japanese military too. When the skirmish scenes come can you guys change the background so when they battle if youre in woods its in the background or on the street etc. We love the game though. Hope you guys are working on more! Cant wait!

Please add fog of war and weather settings for multiplayer. Multiplayer AI is excruciatingly easy, please allow player to increase difficulty. Game play is good, online play is smooth.

A fun little game that brings back the fond memories of Advanced Wars. A few terrain maps are uneven in multiplayer mode. But still too soon to tell. Problem in the online head to head play: random "unknown" opponents keep popping up and you can’t remove them from the list even if you surrender.

Fun game. A great clone of ‘Advance Wars’. Unfortunately, it’s very buggy and unpolished. Bad grammar, letter kerning, and writing make this game feel amateurish. Please fix it!

Our wife and we tried to play multiplayer game but the game invitations won’t send . We eventually got into a game but we can’t move any of our units also after ending the turn it won’t recognize that the move is over on the other phone.

It is a strategy game about the Second War. We can control our army fighting against the German army. It is a great challenge to win the battle without death. And we can play it with our friends on the internet or by using the same device. We all like to play this game.
