Player Experience Highlights

Community Insight:

The opponents dice rolls seem to favor them. Often they get just the right roll they need. And now they get doubles upon doubles. 3 double sixes in a row!??? Really!! This game is not realistic and its not user friendly either. Trying to figure out how to increase level difficulty (buy tokens but how many do we need?) trying to change rules of play, etc. Anything you want to change cost you $$$. And when playing another (human?) online Im never sure its not a computer player.

This game is the best of all the ones Ive tried! The rolls actually seem fair, and theres only one ad at the end of every game! Clear graphics and easy to use! Finally found a good one.

This the best backgammon game we have found. You can play in several different modes but we prefer straight up backgammon with no frills. Thats what this is. Just a good game.

Fun to play but game is one sided. Have not won a game yet when playing one player. Dice rolls are so predictable always in favor of computer. Other reviews say its fair but that is not true.

We have not upgraded, when playing others we get 2-1, 5-1, 4-3, etc while the other player constantly gets doubles. Disappointing, not worth the frustration.

Is a great game very entertaining.

Neat clean game. If youre learning or the family pro this is the best.

This backgammon game has lovely sound effects. We usually turn them completely off in other games. But this one you hear some rolling waves, gentle horse hooves, birds, church bells, an occasional dog barkvery relaxing.

Compared to other online formats, the controls of this version are a little awkward. The dice rolls however feel truly random and fair, not rigged like a lot of the other options.

Unlike other games no pop up ads asking you to buy item every few sec.

Love the graphics and themes. The best.

We have tried other apps and find them to be in favor of the machine. This game rolls a dice for each and it seems somewhat fair. Of course we all know it is the luck of the dice but until we find that is one sided we will continue to play here. Thank you.

We love this game. We loved the sound of the dice rolling. Everything! But now it wont let us in. It opens showing a background image but never loads. Im very disappointed.

Forces you to make only the moves they want you to make – forcing you to leave yourself open. AI then hits your open 100% of the time. Some ai toons roll multiple back-to-back doubles every hand. AI rolls exactly what it needs to knock your forced open disks off. Could have been a great game. Instead it only cheats every round.

Great game actually seams to play fair.

We have always loved the Hardwood games from the moment we were introduced to them years ago. We bought CDs through the mail, downloaded games online, got them everywhere we could possibly get them. They are the best games on the market. They have better graphics than any other game we have seen. Hardwood games are the crme de la crme.

This is a great game. We spend a lot of time playing it.

Love this game. Just wish you could pick your teammate.

Fun game and great graphics too.

We started playing Hardwood backgammon more than a decade ago , and although we hadnt played in years, its still the most beautiful game out there.

The gameplay is the best we have seen in a while. We really enjoy it.

A decent interface, but playing against the computer is so far removed from random that its borderline offensive. Ive learned to just laugh at some of the predictably impossible rolls.

Hardwood hearts- love the multiplayer option. We play with family around the world. We merge phone calls for the smack talk.

However, game too slow, lots of tailoring to be done to make game run well.

This is a great Backgammon game for hours of great challenge. If you love Backgammon this is the one to get. Love it.

Wonderful and interesting game. Highly recommended. Thanks.

We like this version. You can play other people online or play the computer.

Great game would love to have more players.

Easy to play. Great setup like that you can play solo.

Ive really enjoyed playing this game. Very entertaining.

Very nice app. Easy to work with. Enjoy it very much.

We can play this game all day we have a big one but cant get no one to play with us.

We first played this game on an old Toshiba Thrive tablet that we had. Now we play it on our iPad. We wish they also had the Acey-Deucey version. But this is fun.

It seems those who are paying members get much better dice rolls. Doubles nearly every roll….REALLY? Also there should be a penalty for leaving a game just because you dont want to lose.

The game is straight forward and fair.

An adequate app, but not enough players to really make it. Also rating system is flawed because players who are losing can just stop playing, without any impact on their rating or yours. It is as if those games never happened.

Seriously. The AppleTV version of the game (occasionally) blocks out 100% legal moves. We generally play on level hard, and have seen this numerous times. Just now, for the last time. App deleted.

As an experienced backgammon player for over 30 years, Ive played this app dozens of times but it has rigged dice. The developers are cheating the opponent every time, so obviously even a novice would pick up their on it. Dont waste your time here unless you enjoy getting duped.

BE WARNED the only random dice in the game are yours. Its uncanny how the computer can roll EXACTLY the numbers it needs. All while you get precisely the worst rolls. The developers should be ashamed of themselves. Ill stick to real backgammon with real dice. Thats the only way to guarantee fair and random rolls. This game is a huge disappointment and waste of time. If you like rigged dice then by all means get this terrible version.

Come on fellas, spend some time programming! This could be a 5 star game if you didn't take the easy route. The amount of perfect moves and doubles from the computer is a joke. Better options available so had to delete this.

Once again, the game plays fine until you get to the HARD level. Then, the AI gets exactly what it needs on every important roll. This mans the game developers are lazy and dont program better strategy for the AI – they simply make it impossible for the human player to win by rigging the dice. This could be a five-star game, but we struggled to give it one star. Such a pity.

We are addicted to this game. We just play it constantly. We deleted it because it seems like it got too predictable. It would get us out just as we are winning. But then we thought about it. It gives us great rolls when the computer is winning too. Does the computer cheat? Nope, it gets lucky rolls like we do. Maybe if we try the harder level we may have more fun. We win almost every game and it was getting boring. Harder level here we come. Downloaded ad it and have some fun.

Play spades and backgammon! Love the graphics and games/ settings! Recommend to all.

It's been a long time since we played Backgammon, but the nice tutorial brought us right up to speed. It's an engaging game.

We love this game. Cool graphics and animation! Try it for yourself.

Good game could use a tiny bit of tweaking to bring it to the top of its potential.

We like the game, but when playing the AI the difficulty levels seem to just give better or worse rolls to you or the opponent rather than altering the intuition of the opponent. Very frustrating on difficult because the opponent just gets a bunch of doubles. The rolls should be truly random. Also, extreme customizing possibilities would be great.

The rolls of the dice are biased against us! Our opponents are apologizing to us frequently because they consistently roll doubles and us- 1's and 2's. Not much fun to play.

Our wife and both like to play backgammon and we just got the new Apple TV and found this app so we can both play. We downloaded this on the Apple TV and on our phones and then spent the next half an hour trying to figure out how to play each other locally and on the Apple TV and we could not figure it out. Apps should be intuitive and easy to figure out and this is anything but that. We're done with this game, it's the worst designed backgammon game we've ever seen!!!! One star is too good of a rating as far as we're concerned.

We've played this Puter many times and without a doubt this system cheats. When certain situations arise it rigs the rolls in a consistent and hence very predictable way. So even though it looks good and handles roll combinations easily…it lacks creativity (same cheats all the time.) we thought that if we played the game better we might still beat it more often but it would eventually rig our rolls as well as its own.
