Hear from the Players – Hidden Expedition: The Fountain of Youth (Full) Reviews

Find out what gamers are saying about Hidden Expedition: The Fountain of Youth (Full):

Just started playing, we are enjoying it. Easy to navigate. We like the combination of puzzles and hidden objects.

This game is a lot of fun. The hints are better than in some games because they are more direct.

Its a total disrespect to buyers. How greedy mobile game publishers can be? It seems to us that there is no limit.

Really one of the best games ever. Clever hops, sophisticated puzzles and gorgeous graphics. The most Impressive treat to us was finally a story that made sense. We usually ignore the story because they’re so ridiculous. Quality game with collectibles, morphing, hints and map with very smooth game play. Can hardly wait for next one. Thanks!!!!

By far the most challenging. Great graphics and the plot was interestingly unique. It was refreshing to see no demonic stuff. Thank you developers!

Awesome game!! Good hos, puzzles, character interactions, storyline, etc.

We have really enjoyed this game. It works smoothly; we have not encountered any software glitches. The story is interesting, not macabre! We don’t like the horror ones. This one is a fun mystery.

ATTENTION ALL! YOU CAN NOW PLAY PUPPETSHOW! Except BigFish doesn’t know that! If you bought it and waited on the update, and didn’t request a refund, you can reinstall it and it runs properly now! ERS brought out version 1.0.4, and it worked. We won’t officially review it under this title, but it was a decent game. Not great! There were rodents, and we should have waited from a warning from Dracyy! On to the game. This is one of our favorite series from EIPIX. As per usual, there are 3 levels of difficulty, no customization of settings. The game was a decent length and had a bonus adventure, which focused on Magellan. There was no journal but objectives were regularly updated. As with the others in this series, you have your HELP box and collect fact cards and hidden symbols at each location. The graphics were magnificent and you go to several different locations, including Sri Lanka and Portugal. There is a teleport map (marked dependent on your settings) to transport you. Loading was not instantaneous between locations but the lag time was only a second or 2. Inventory was labeled and there were complex items to assemble. Certain locations had slide zones which made it a bit more interesting. There was a lot to do at most locations. The HO scenes had variation and some had micro-puzzles embedded within the scene. There were morphing objects in the HO scenes. It would have been nice if there had also been an option to play match-3 or mahjong instead, but they didn’t give us an option. There was a large variety of puzzles and sometimes one puzzle led to another. There were games of skill, logic and of course there was some boring rotational junk, but there was something for everyone! This time EIPIX even gave us a super puzzle! What they didn’t give us (thankfully) was rats! Note to Dracyy! We know you were frustrated with the focus game that you couldn’t skip. We know you can do it, but not while enduring a migraine. It really took time to get it right but we have faith in you! You CAN finish this game! If we did it, and we are impatient, you can too! Good luck, our friend! We really enjoyed the game but we cannot give it a full 5 stars. We are deducting a star for lack of a cohesive journal, the confusing map (too many dancing circles and xxxx), and slight touch sensitivity issues when using inventory and playing mini-games. However it was an enjoyable game and we look forward to the next one in this series. Lynxie sends and holiday wishes to Dracyy, KimTwilight, Izzyoc, Sunshine Susie, Opinion and the rest of The DTE! Happy gaming everyone!

Who guessed that we always wished to be an archaeologist? Hidden Expeditions: Fountain of Youth lets us do that! And we already have neat tools like a computer and a walkie-talkie. We are in Sri Lanka looking for lost treasures of Magellan — but, of course, the bad guys have arrived here first. Good Hint button helps a lot! You get collectible gold gears in each scene, and puzzles are varied and fun. Hidden Object scenes are well-labeled and colorful so far. You actually get to sucker punch a bad guy for some extra fun. We like this one, and it’s lots of fun for the long weekend.

This game has a fun story line and is fairly straightforward. Some of the HOS are pretty finicky about touching exactly on a specific point. The puzzles are enjoyable and so far we haven’t encountered any glitches. We’re giving it four stars because of how finicky it is in the HOS.

You can complete the last puzzle: Use whichever hand button is needed to move the figure into the silhouette shape located in or around the middle-left side of the screen; it really doesn’t snap into place, so use your judgement. Use the OTHER button to move the half-completed figure into the second silhouette shape located in or around the upper-left side of screen; then let go. This worked for us, and we were able to move on. This installment, from one of our all-time favorite series, is a delightful example of cross-genre as it blends together two distinct themes with their respective elements — action-packed Adventure and the Supernatural — to create an alluring experience; you will be startled by the bewildering and enigmatic twists and turns along the way, which hold us in a transfixed state of curiosity. The plot successfully achieves spellbinding climaxes as you undergo strenuous tests during your fight for survival; these essences are highlighted as you endure dangerous travel through exotic, uncharted territory and as you endeavor to retrieve an artifact, which is the key to the "fountain of youth," before it falls into the wrong hands. The artwork exhibits a spin-off of the remnants of the ancient Asian-Pacific civilization known as Sigiriya, which is located in Sri Lanka, with its encompassing network of gardens, ponds, canals, fountains, and a magnificent palace — all surrounded by jungle-covered hills. From a geographical and artistic perception, there are many embellishing details to sparkle your fancy, such as the ornately jeweled statues holding offerings to their deities and a rock-cutout palace containing an enormous lion’s head and a stone stairway leading up to the heavens (loosely based on the real-life World Heritage site known as "The Lion Rock," which depicts two giant lion paws on both sides of the stairway, exclusive of the head itself). Some of the characters are fleshed out a bit, especially the "baddies"; you are often hindered by the evil-minded antagonists who exhaustively detour you away from attaining your goal of freeing your co-agents. The graphics = horrible. The inventory is labeled and interactive; items require assembly. No custom settings again; in second mode, you are hindered by sparkles and random-tap penalties. Then, of course, the teleport map does not indicate available actions, which renders its main function as moot. As it is customary with this developer, the HOS are varied, as well as innovative in presentation and ideas. Some of the puzzles are mechanically oriented, such as the one where you move chains of circular objects around a maze to their proper spot in order to open a door. You are also graced with the infamous puzzle-board format or the "super" puzzle, which is comprised of a web of individual mini-games that are meshed together where one solution advances another solution. Some of the collectibles are traditional in substance; they are not too difficult to spot. One distinguishable collectible is academic in nature and not confined to just discovering them. To sum it up, this is a fun, fast-moving adventure filled with creativity and an informative approach; it’s just missing a few key features that would have completely capped it off. This is why we’ve deducted a star; however, we still suggest playing this since it’s a step or two up from the last couple of flops.

Visually stunning, fascinating story line with historical side facts.

The good: long game, decent map, real plot, any vermin are hardly noticeable and brief if at all. The Bad: no custom difficulty, phone calls from headquarters interrupt the story and don’t add squat to the plot The Ugly: not every mini game offers skip. We’re at we assume the end. We’re supposed to make the picture come into focus through several layers of semi transparent pieces of the same darn picture and we have a migraine and there IS NO SKIP! Giving us a difficult puzzle with no skip is torture! Hint button only gives you instructions not help. NOT COOL! Verdict: buy if you are a glutton for punishment or fan of the series. Just remember you were warned!

Tedious and frustrating to us. Too much going on. Graphics are beautiful as always. Wait for the free trial.

Not our favorite of the series, but it plays well, no glitches. Minus an extra star for BF begging for ratings with outdated pop-ups throughout the game.. We wouldn’t mind once, at the end of the game only. Gameplay is decent length, puzzles were a little more interesting, however the calls from headquarters add no real value to the story and are just an annoyance. Appreciate when the reviews here exclusively address the game at hand, we don’t appreciate having to weed through the grandstanding and personal chat. There are more appropriate forums.

There have been so much better games in this series, that we are rather disappointed. The graphics are good but the storyline is all over the place.

Good game, however, cannot get into mint even tried reloading. Am we doing something wrong or does it need fixing?

The plot, different Challenges etc are all top notch. While some puzzles are tough, so far we have gotten through until the hands in the cave. Our issue is trying to bring the "statue" into focus in the cave. There is no skip bottom, and as our hands do shake, it is impossible for us to get past this. We are forever stuck here unless there is a way to do it. We went to the guide and although it shows positions of the 2 "handprints", we are still unable to make it work. Anything u can tell us to move on? The hands shaking is is medical related but we buy 2 games a week Usually) for several years now Thanks.

Love this series, but this one is a dud. Had trouble with freezing, clunky slow response in mini games and now the transparent scene near the end is totally frozen. Overall graphics sub par as well. The story is actually very interesting and nice facts about turtles was nice. We’re upset we don’t get to see how it ends or if we collected all the stuff. Disappointed.

We had been enjoying this game until we got to the Mint. Can’t get past this point! Tried everything even deleted and reloaded. Stuck! Why isn’t there a Skip here? Tired of trying. Forget this game. Decided to reload 3rd time. If this doesn’t work, refund us.

This could be a really enjoyable game. The prior reviews are not sore losers, as with some games. We’ve been gaming for awhile now, right? And we know what is required for a game to flow smoothly. We know our iPad is kept up with the newest updates, etc. Pros: a decent premise for a story, with good graphics, objects to collect and use, and hidden objects. The puzzles are a hit and miss. Cons: some puzzles are impossible to figure out. We like the originality a lot, but if they’d only hint of a purpose or strategy. Not all puzzles are poorly designed, though. Draccy was right. Same puzzle, same no solving it. The clunker comes in the cave scene near the end, where you have to take the two circles w/hands and move them until the scene comes into focus with its overlay. We’ve brought it into focus many times over two days. Have watched the walk through tutorial on a gamer’s YouTube channel. Have studied the Big Fish strategy guide. Nothing seems to work for this particular puzzle, and like Draccy’s review stated, there’s no skip option at all, not even for the casual level. So we guess we’re done with this game. No bonus game or any extras since we can’t finish. We’re quite disappointed and bummed. Am sure hoping the developers will improve the game play in these clunky spots. Big Fish, we’ve been staying away from your recent games for the past 1/2 year as they have either been goofy, horror filled, or subpar. I’d hoped another Hidden Expedition would be a few steps up from the past. Maybe soon? For as it stands, it’s not at the moment. We will try to get a refund. Har. If anyone successfully completes that ridiculous cave puzzle, please let us know.

Several of the games do not perform well. There is no option to skip so one cannot proceed. Very frustrating. Unable to finish the game as the scene at the end where one is instructed to focus simply does not work. There is no option to skip so cannot proceed.
