Hungry Hearts Diner is a game about a small shop at the edge of a
big city. Take on the role of the hard-working old lady struggling to
manage her family’s little restaurant—and all by her lonesome, too!
Cook tasty meals for a variety of colorful characters, and learn more
about their triumphs and struggles as they chow down on your tasty,
home-cooked food. Rice balls, dumplings, tempura…you can make it all!
In fact, the more you cook, the more dishes you’ll unlock.
And hey, you’ll even get a chance to learn about good ol’ fashioned
Japanese cuisine while you’re at it! Did you know you can make
jelly out of seaweed? Because I didn’t!

Story
On a tiny side street in a nameless little neighborhood sits an
old Japanese diner. Things are quiet here; old-fashioned
you might say. But of course they are. It’s Showa era Japan,
and the television is just starting to come into vogue.
Slide open the screen door and you’ll see a kindly old lady
hard at work behind the counter. Her husband’s been sick
for a while, and she’s had to run the place on her own.
It’s hard work, but she’s a tough one, and she gets by.
Sit down at one of the worn wooden tables, and close your
eyes. Thunk thunk goes the steady beat of a knife chopping
veggies. Hisss; the sound of meat sizzling in a pan.
Swish swish; a whisk beating eggs.
The soothing sounds of a simple kitchen.
Sit here long enough, and all that tension will just flow
right out of you. So come on in, order a hot meal, and take
a load off. The peace’ll do you good.

This game is too cute and fun we love it.
This game is so simple and the art is so adorable! Not too many ads either. Im getting close to getting a couple more food items, but whats next? We also upgraded the furniture. If any more updates in the future, we cant wait!
Finally, a cooking game with substance. The story based progression is enjoyable and the stories themselves are so cute. We like having to strategize to unlock specific dishes. Its such a calming game without being boring.

Im sorry, since when is a clicker game supposed to make us CRY MY EYES OUT? Its a gorgeous little game. Beautiful art, straightforward gameplay (although we wish itd been more explicit in letting us know how to unlock new dishes), bits of humor, and lovely music and sound effects that dont wear on you even after several hours. We were happy to pay real money for ad-free game play just for all that. But the game goes and does the unforgivable: it creates actually moving, emotional characters you end up caring about (and, if like us its been kind of rough for you lately, crying over). The little dialogues you unlock seem two-dimensional at first but slowly reveal deeper feelings and motivations, and the people feel like real people: kind of awkward, kind of selfish, always worth rooting for. What an unexpectedly moving experience.
This game is so fun!! Theres no ads unless you want to watch some for grandma.
We thought about this game recently, having played it as a teen. We dont think we really appreciated it back then but goodness what a well written game. Simple and straightforward gameplay with amazingly well scripted story and characters. Would recommend to anyone who likes a good story.
We played it during the quarantine days, super loved the atmospheric and aesthetic vibe of it. And definitely loved other aspects of it. Its great.
What distinguishes this and many other restaurant games is how rich the story is! Each character has their own distinct personality and personal history, which keeps us wanting to discover more. In addition, we have very cute designs which we like, and asmr sounds. On a side note, if youre a learner of English like us, youll learn a lot from the conversations here. The language isnt too simple but rather colloquial and idiomatic. Finished this game and moving on to Hungry Hearts Diner 2 and Neo next!
Im not lying when this is actually our comfort game. This app got us through school stress and we found myself sobbing our eyes out when reading the story lines late at night. All the dialogue and music is so comforting and this game makes us feel so safe.. Also reminds us of our grandparents too.
We remember playing this game some years ago. Once we open the app, we would play the game for HOURS. Everything is so calming and the stories were too heartwarming for our heart. We’ve played many games but this one stays in our heart forever. We absolutely adore this game.
We didnt think Id be this invested in an idle game it was so wholesome and every customer had a story including the main character, our grandma! Id very much reccomend the game doesnt take long to finish but super worth it! We honestly didnt think itd make us cry haha.

We downloaded three awful apps before we found this gem, quality game structure that keeps you hooked without ad after ad making it miserable. Its a slightly slow start but once you get cooking figuratively and literally its great, the upgrade costs seem overwhelmingly large but once you start pairing the right stuff and figuring out what specific customers like and understanding what to level up food wise its just good like truly. The micro transactions for this game are minimal and by no means necessary which is all we think any of us ask. We havent had issues yet with losing our game like others have claimed, our phone even died mid game cause we couldnt put it down and we accepted it might happen and id have to move on with our life but that didnt happen and im so happy cause im already in too deep.
The ending really made us cry, it was so beautiful!! We went in thinking this would be a silly, fun game to pass the time and we ended up with one of the most heart-felt storylines ever. Thank you for this! Im still crying!
Beyond the adorable graphic this game contain a very touching story. We love learning about the characters stories and have they developed. We also didnt find the ad or the energy system very annoying at all.

The story line is so interconnected and moving, it made us feel absorbed into the life of this old grandma running a diner. This game isnt an idle game with a story behind it. Its a story with a bonus, entertaining feature.
Firstly, the game is completely free to play but you can purchase little perks that not only accelerate game progress but support the developer. It is a simple but captivating story-centric idle game where you make food to unlock new recipes to satisfy the desires of specific guests. A hidden gem of an indie game that you will not forget. Play at your own pace; we simply played the game once a day and beat it under a couple of weeks.
The game is a bit addicting which we didnt expect. Gagex games always warms our heart and this game is no exception. The characters feel like real people trying to live through the struggles and joys of life. The food and the descriptions made us a bit hungry lol. Everytime we play this we would watch videos of Japanese diners owned by elderly people preparing food. Makes us wish there was a Showa style diner in our area.

We honestly have never downloaded a phone game that we’ve completely finished more than once. This one just knows how to hit THE SPOT. We’ve finished this game 3 times already! The story is so sweet and sad at the same time. The designs are beautiful and make us so hungry :( one thing we dont like is how long it takes for customers to come in. Unless you leave the game for a while or get a frenzy the restaurant never has more than about 3-4 customers at a time. Otherwise we says its a pretty chill game and def a fun one.
We wanted to like the game because it looks great, but Ill never learn about the story because the ad placement is too distracting. We’ve never complained about ads in a game before, but with an ad sitting at the bottom of our screen (such that the game actually RESIZES to accomodate it) and no option to pay for ad removal, Im not interested. Id rather sit through those annoying 30 second ad breaks than have one take up an entire side of the screen and break immersion. Disappointing.
Why it is not opening in IPhone 6 ???
We went into this thinking it would be a simple cooking game. Then, the story started and we got invested. We made every food and waited every day. By the end, we had grown slightly attached. We sort of cried once it was complete. Great game :)
We downloaded this game in college because we were bored taking public transportation one day. Its been four years since then, and we’ve replayed this game multiple times. We keep returning to how kind, calming, and heart-wrenching the story is, and we want to live in the atmosphere it creates. It is one of the most lovely stories woven into a seemingly basic restaurant management game, and its in our top three favorite games of all time for it.
We’ve never made it through an entire game like this. Im glad we stuck around for the ending, they storyline was highly enjoyable and the ending had us emotional. It hit close to home in a way and for a game to do that is something you dont come by very often.
All we were looking for was a cooking game that didnt try and force micro-transactions or show ads every 10 seconds . We found that, and so much more. This is a sweet little game that will surprise, delight, and punch you right in the feels. We dont want to give the story away, so Ill leave it there and just add that we immediately downloaded the sequel and another of the developers games right after finishing the game (and shedding a few tears).
We have never reviewed a single game before, but this one captivated us so much that it only felt right. All the characters felt so real in their struggles and their desperate ways to cope with them. Granny was right there to support them through everything even if the characters said they didnt need any. Makes us think a lot about life and how we can refuse help when we think we know whats best for ourselves. Sometimes were blind sided by it and we need another perspective to see clearly. Granny provides that perspective perfectly and even though she may be a little harsh with her words at some points, she truly has a kind heart. We highly recommend anyone to play this game! :) we think itll make you think a lot about life. Also the cutesy art style and simple gameplay makes it easy for anyone to jump right in :)

This game was so much more than an idle cooking game. The characters were so real and truly show us that people arent what they seem(in a good way). Each characters story was wrapped up nicely. The actual game aspect was quite fun too! Figuring out what to cook next to progress the storylines was a nice challenge. We wish it didnt end but it was a lovely experience!

Besides keeping you entertained it was just a cute beautifully made story. It does slow down the more customers you satisfy because your customer base dwindles. Once you satisfy customers they do not return. We did a lot more frenzy modes at the end.

Never thought id cry for a clicking game. The stories of each character are really well written and heartfelt. Really interesting to see the emotional developments. The ending is a real plot twist to us but also the best and perfect ending.

To start this game is absolutely wonderful. We played it in its entirety after 4 days of going back to it non stop, im so excited theyve released a second one because thats where im headed now! Okay this game is a good game although we wish we can move them and go outside but we are hoping there and update and we want the grandpa to cook too but although this game could add more Japanese food like sushi, dumplings but this is a good game but we havent got any new customers this we would definitely recommend because when its quiet you should play the game we really wish is show us how to make the food but this is a good game.

Once we started playing it which at this time has only been (maybe 45 minutes) we have got so many customers and we love the story an mysterious characters that come by.
