Community Insight:
We grew up with this and, eventually, we got pretty good at it, but we ate tons of writing paper, made LOTS of mistakes, and wore out the cardboard backing in the process. And while there was a lot of hand/eye coordination in the process when we were learning it, Im done with the learning part. This brings all the good and fun aspects of the original Spirograph to the table and leaves the tedium behind. Thank you.
Our favorite toys was Spirograph. We love having this version on our iPad. Paid for pro version. Worth the $5 for all the extras.
So happy to find that this app is available for iPhone/iPad and being updated regularly. We use the web version all the time, its relaxing and fun. Not even going to mention any quibbles. Thanks.
A lot of fun – Spirograph w/out the paper and more options/colors.
2/9/23 Its no longer working on our iPad mini. The gears do not appear on the canvas. – . Its unclear how to get a NEW canvas. Ive checked the help section. Nothing. No buttons that say new canvas. It seems we can only erase the one canvas. Its kind of unexpected. We bought the $4.99 paid version because Ive always love our Spirograph. We still have the one we got as a child. We also have a metal version. Now we couldnt resist this one. We love it. Except the lack of a new canvas or any instructions addressing this. Thats why its not five stars. Also it would be a huge improvement to have a guide to the shapes. Update. Ive been using this quite a bit over the last few days. We wish we could write on the page with our Apple Pencil. For example Note which gear, wheel, and pen number Im using. But we cannot so we end up having to take photos and click in and out of the app multiple times. Itd be easier to be able to just makes notes within the app.
A brilliant digital translation of a time-tested game which captures the mesmerizing and magic creativity of the original. Have only tried on our phone but can only imagine that on the iPad itll be even better and well worth the upgrade cost to open up the full range of tools and colors, etc.
Im 64. We had a spirograph growing up. This app is fantastic. We save very few apps out of the hundreds that Ive had and played, worked with. This ones a keeper for us. . Im ordering the super spirograph tonight. Do it here then put ink to paper. Love it. Happy Memorial Day 2022.
Complete childhood nostalgia with every gear part imaginable, every color, endless ink and best of all, absolutely no mess and no having to put it away or parts to lose. Auto draw sure is a nice thing.
What a great app. As a kid we never had a Spirograph with so many parts or so many colors of (working!) pens. What you get for free is extremely generous, but after just a few minutes of making cool designs, we unlocked everything for even more fun and creativity.
Great selection of gears and colors. Hours of creative fun. Total winner except wheres the Gallery? We have been working on a project for a couple of hours creating spiro art then saving to Gallery thinking we can access our saved images and download them to photos. We had just saved to Gallery our 10th set of colorful compilations and thought we would check out our work – but where the heck is the Gallery? We followed link to app store knowing there is always a link to developers website in app store when we locate the Gallry we will come back and give that 5th star The saving your work is.
We found this app by playing inspirograph, the website version, and downloaded it thinking it would have at least those features. It doesnt.
Having spent many hours and reams of paper with the plastic version decades ago, it is a delight to have a very complete and detailed digital version. From gear choices, pen/paper colors/sizes, tools for auto rotate and down to choosing which hole in a gear to use, we cant think of anything left out. And no wasted paper, broken pens/pencils, broken gears (especially missing teeth).
We love this app. It really feels like using our old Spirograph! Love it that there are no ads and no nickel-and-dime FTP garbage. Im just about to pay the $5 to unlock all the supplies and to support the developer, but you can have plenty of fun for free! We have one wish: to be able to quickly switch holes on our gear without needing to go into the tools menu. :).
We used to play with Inspirograph all the time, and now its back and much, much better. There are more features than the website, and its just great. The best one is the automatic line drawing you click a button and watch as the spiral completes one perfect circuit, which is super satisfying (although we wish we could make it go faster). Id prefer if the Tools Pen and Gears buttons werent awkwardly oriented in Landscape Mode on iPad, but its not the end of the world. At least landscape mode is there! A redo option would be handy, too. Its great that the app has full iPad support its even more fun on iPad! It even works with Slide Over and Split View! We do notice though that when using Slide Over or Split View, we cant seem to type in other applications if Inspiral is open. We just tried it while writing this review and yeah, it commandeers our keyboard. Totally worth the $5 in-app purchase to support this neat app! Im going to have lots of fun and make some custom wallpapers with Inspiral! :) Oh! One more feature request: it would be AWESOME to be able to select multiple pen holes at once, so you could see a whole pattern get drawn out all at once.
Very well done. As a fellow flutter developer we think this is fantastic. Good job.
This is far and away the best Spirograph-type app Ive tried, both for ease of use and variety of gears (especially with the IAP). A particularly nice feature is that you can change the setting incrementally (forward or back) as well as wherever you like. The colors can be set at different transparencies for special effects.
