Description

Create your own epic saga of conflict, mythology, and community! This acclaimed game of magical storytelling blends interactive stories and resource management. It’s set in Glorantha (the world of RuneQuest, HeroQuest, and 13th Age).

It’s immensely replayable, thanks to over 575 interactive scenes and two objectives. Short episodes and automatic saving mean you can play even when you only have a minute or two. The built-in saga writes down the story for you. And advisors with distinctive personalities help you track your cows.

The gorgeous hand-painted artwork won Best Visual Arts at the second Independent Games Festival.

  • Everything in the game is utterly convincing and even years after release, the possibilities seem endless. (One of the 5 best strategy games ever made) [Rock, Paper, Shotgun]
  • It’s like they took the best parts of Civilization games and combined them with the best part of Choose Your Own Adventure style game books. … What I like most about King of Dragon Pass is the seemingly infinite possibilities that the game has. … I can’t get enough of King of Dragon Pass. [Touch Arcade]
  • A wholly unique adventure that has no equal on the iPhone. [Pocket Gamer]
  • An interactive story with a level of complexity and brilliance that’s rarely seen in video games. [Gamezebo]

Players say:

  • I am really happy to have found this game. It scratches so many itches: simulator, rpg, adventure book…Great work! I find myself playing it on both my iPad and iPhone. Very addictive!
  • I got this game at 6pm tonight. It’s now 4am, and I’ve hardly scratched the surface of the depth of this game.
  • I now have a fun, engaging, thought provoking RPG on my iPhone, an RPG that fits in my purse and that I can play any time I want, not having to have my computer or Xbox 360 near me to do so.
  • If Bioware remade Civilization they’d be lucky to end up half as good as King of Dragon Pass.
  • It’s impossible to describe the emotional tug you feel when an old and trusted advisor, who you’ve watched grow from a young upstart, dies of old age. Or when an exploration team disappears into the wilds, never to be heard from again. Or when a cursed clansman, shunned by his peers, sacrifices himself to stop a raid. This game will never leave my iPhone. That’s the only accolade possible.

The game is completely accessible via VoiceOver.

King of Dragon Pass Reviews

Just recently bought Six Ages and have been playing it for the last few days. Not sure if that has anything to do with the problem Im experiencing but we’ve picked King of Dragon Pass back up and it will not let us view tribes in our relations screen or access it via the map screen. When we do try to view tribes it crashes the whole game and takes us back to our phones home screen. Im at loss… It never did this before. Could it be an iOS update that messed it up? Please get back to us concerning this as we would appreciate it, immensely. Really enjoyed playing KoDP. Was a five star game, current problem withheld UPDATE: Thank you so much for correcting the issues and in such a timely manner, developers. Youre appreciated greatly!

And it has a lot of replay value. But Im not sure what to do next!

Hope soon this game update to the m1 Macs.

Im a huge strategy gamer, playing crusader kings 2 on our PC. This game is like the mobile version with its depth. Its actually a port of the PC game. But oddly we liked the mobile version more than the PC one. Thats strange but nonetheless this game is a must have for any serious strategy gamer. You will not be disappointed.

More than any other game, we keep coming back to this one and playing it over and over. Six Ages (a sort of prequel in the same vein) is a great game, too, but something about the original holds our attention more. Great replayability, no button mashing, story-driven yet flexible, immersive with tons of great little flourishes and touches. You can effectively play as hard core as you want, but also can reset the game back to its automatic save point (once every year – or 10 turns) for any prior completed year in your clans history. This is also a great treatment of the Glorantha source material and a great entry point to that world or a must have for anyone who discovered the RPG(s) or other games first.

Hello, Im playing this with the default settings, the normal setting for difficulty and the short and long games. Of course, we’ve done one of each. However, we dont know how to put new people in our klan ring, for as we try, the original people appear to be there. There was a person on YouTube who did this easily, but we cannot for some reason. This othere person was also visually impaired, as we are and used his vision whereas we use VoiceOver from Apple. We also cant see how to safely complete one of the hero quests and remember all that happened in the myth at the same time. Good game, though/worth its money if a little frustrating at times. Ashleigh Piccinino P.S. We’ve noticed some very strange things happening with the game. If too many things are open, the game can crash/have to reopen the game. Plus, its hard for us to constantly scroll through all the options as Im using the VoiceOver system on our iPhone to do so. We think this game needs major improvements as far as being more accessable with VoiceOver. The map doesnt work hardly at all, saying unknown hex or explored hex. What does that mean? And why doesnt VoiceOver speak the plaes on the mapit does but very rarely. We need to know where Im sending our people to, in cardinal diretions, you know. Also, if you need to read an entire manual to play a game, its not a game at all… We dont think. Why cant the manual be in a few brf files you can save on your computer and read with a Braille display? That way, you have something to refer to without having to go bak into the menu, back into the manual, and back into what youre happening to have trouble with. Not worth the ten dollars, in our opinion until these things get fixed.

We love the app but no sound on iPad mini 4, iOS 13.1 Game 5 stars Sound 1 Star.

We tried to play this game several times and failed and kept trying. The process took time, but eventually we got everything that we needed to know. However, on our last try, we became prosperous. We built a new tribe, became as strong as we can be, and our enemies feared us. Even when they ganged up on us, it was hopeless. But somehow, the trolls destroyed our clan from the inside out. We had no idea what happened, and we wasnt able to do a thing about it. The people wanted to disband our clan even when we tried our best to make things right again. This game is annoyingly difficult and too stressful for its own good. You get addicted to it for a couple of days only to find out that all youve done was wasting your time and end up losing. This is not even in hard mode either. Take our advice and dont waste your time and money buying this game.

Lots of screens, lots of choices to make, but it all feels random and outside of any logic. Boring from the get go and didnt improve.

This is possibly he best game on the App Store. Old school. Beautiful graphics. Good music. Challenging and thought provoking gameplay. Well-thought-out fantasy world. And, of course, an angry warrior duck that killed our best fighter 10/10 would play again.

We enjoy how every game we play has new outcomes. Really a great story.

Just a Completely amazing game, just what we were looking for. Definitely recommend. Also if you get the game read the Manuel it brings and look at some guides online.

This is an amazing, sit back and relax game that you can take your time and truly invest in. The lore is incredibly deep, which makes it easier to just become a part of the amazing world created by these incredible developers. Read the description and know what you’re getting yourself into before you post unjustified complaints about KODP. If you find this while it’s still on sale, don’t hesitate. $5 is a steal for this game, and we can really say we’re excited to hear that a second game is in the making.

We’ve play this game NUMEROUS times each with a different play style. The variety of what you wanna do with your clan is limitless.

We loved this game last year, but we discovered it because it was highly praised for its accessibility with voiceover, and it seems they’ve abandoned that community. We were very excited to pick it up again recently, and some values simply cannot be modified, some screens trap you and require restart, and in many, you can no longer flick to navigate without being thrown around the screen at random.

Update: 2017 and this is still without question the best entertainment app in the store. We will have an iDevice as long as it is. We’re amazed they even released more content. This game has so much replay ability. Get it, now! We are so happy to have found this game. We are incredibly surprised by the depth and can’t put it down. We wish there were more games on this level of awesomeness for the busy minded. P.S. Don’t listen to the derp who claims it’s not worth the money because he only played through it 4 or 5 times. A play through can easily take you 30+ hours. A good play though much, MUCH longer.

This game introduced us to the fantastic world of Glorantha. You take control of a clan that’s part of an of Anglo-Saxon inspired folk known as the Storm Tribe. Gods and spirits have a great impact on daily life in Dragonpass, and you’ll find yourself sacrificing silver, cattle, maybe even thrills to keep them happy. Many common fantasy races are present as allies or adversaries, but with a unique twist. Take the nomadic riders of Prax, who are forbidden from riding horses so they ride fantastic beasts such as antelope, rhinos, elephants, etc. Elves exist as xenophobic plant-men. Dwarves have a culture and society that is highly foreign to humanity. True dragons have the power of gods. Dragon-folk exist as the Dragonewts, creatures that evolve into more advanced forms, eventually becoming dragons over the eons, and reincarnate into new bodies as they die. Trolls are a race gifted with immortality and great strength, but cursed with infertility. This setting has such a rich and intriguing lore, it is well worth the time and monetary investment.

This game is a fantastic adventure for everyone. The story is written so exquisite and the art is both Tantalizing and colorful. This game is both long and endless. And eventually it ended and we were sad, we were attached to our clan. We won but we lost a part of us that we could never get back. This game is the best we’ve ever played and would gladly pay 5, 10, and even 15 dollars for a sequel.

Just wonderful. Truly amazing gameplay depth rivaling the Witcher 3 and Skyrim. Don’t let the basic screenshots deceive you, his is one game providing an unrivaled experience on iOS.

We saw this ~4 year old game and was like $10! This will be the most expensive app on our phone! The thing is, we love dragons and managing civilizations. So we bought it. Social aspects of life are showcased in kodp’s wonderful random events and the common tech trees are replaced with sacrifices and heroquests for the gods. All the magic is a nice change of pace from civilization games. Of course, not all sacrifices produce results (sometimes even large ones). The randomness keeps the game fresh each playthrough but can be punishing at times. The game is text based, so if reading isn’t your thing then this isn’t for you. Highly entertaining, endless replay value, fresh take on civilization management with focus on relationships instead of conquest (conquest isn’t really an option), lots of backstory to read. Great at demonstrating consequences of your actions. 5/5.

So no everyone is going to agree on the title, that’s fine. This game lets you dive into a Nordic culture where the spirits, gods and sacrifices make a profound difference in the life of your kinsmen. This game has 600+ frames of artwork and hundreds upon hundreds of unique events. Decisions that happen two years ago may bring prosperity or run. One of the more fascinating aspects is the hero questing, where a leader travels to the lands of the gods and pays homage. This event is the highlight of the year for your tribe and can bring great blessing or your leader can come home in pieces. It also makes you wonder about your ethics if you were a tribal leader. Raid and pillage your neighbor every fall? Clearly… They came to your clan hall and dropped a duce in front of your throne (true story). Moreover, it’s a world that not clearly understood by any of the characters, leading to the mystery. Enjoy the music and some of the most complex gameplay you’ll find in the App Store. The learning curve is there but worth the investment.

The continued support for this exceptional title represents the paragon of iOS development. These are the apps and devs we should support.

This game is so amazing. It is the perfect management game and the storylines presented are vast and enjoyable to read. We cannot wait till the developers finish Six Ages this year ; it is by far our most anticipated game coming out in 2016. KODP is worth every penny and the replay value is through the roof!

This iOS version has become the de facto version of the unparalleled open-ended narrative-based culture builder from 20 years ago. Great implementation. Let’s hope some newer games finally go in the KoDP direction since it’s gotten so much more visibility thanks to iOS.

If your looking for a game with a proper story and true immersive gameplay, then download this game. You will spend countless hours diving into the lore of the game and creating a story truly made by your actions. Unlike other games that say your choice influences the outcome of the game but barely does this one truly truly does. Also the game can go from extremely serious (being raided by chaos monsters who can lay waste to your most elite men) to light hearted humor (meeting duck warriors who want their stolen eggs back lol). Overall, in our opinion, this is the best app game out there.

We try games before we buy. This one passed woth flying colors so we are paying the devs homage by buying it. You guys rock.

Great entertainment. Wish it had iPhone X support. Best money spent in the App Store.

We cannot express how much we love this game. It’s extremely in depth and the replay value is amazing. We don’t think it’s actually $10 we think you’ll be charged much less, but either way it’s worth it. It’s a large (100mb) file, but you can play it offline. There are no ads, and absolutely no disappointments. It’s a better layout on an IPad, but the game is the same on our phone. We run two games very different from each other on our two devices. Great game for getting a 12+ kid interested in reading. Has the feel of a fantasy book like dragon lance novels, with the control of civilization. It is choose your own adventure style, but unlike other games that basically end up the same no matter what you decide, this game has tons of different paths to victory and defeat. Mad props to the creator of this game. We pray for the gods to bless them and for them to be inspired to add more or create a second sage or prequel.

Plus an awesome time period. Overall incredible game. Definitely the best we’ve ever played on iOS. Also, incredibly stable and lightweight! No crashes at all, and no loading times. A+

Very fun game. Still havent beat t although we have tried many times. Great replayability.

Unique game with a great storyline and freedom to explore. Thank you developers for your great work!

This has been and is probably the best game in the app store. The depth of storytelling is rivaled only by its incredible artwork and limitless replay value. First became king on our computer over 10 years ago, now we get to play where ever this is the greatest game.

If you love epic storytelling and strategy , you’ll love this extraordinarily good, unique and unusually well-crafted game.

Updating the Review to say that KoDP is still the 5 star game we bought nearly 4 years ago. Do yourself a favor. Grab a hot tea, cup of joe or whatever you fancy. Find a nice quiet, but ambient place to relax and play/read this game. Previous review: we’ve had this game since 12/11 and to this day it never gets old. The game is so heavy in content that there are areas we have yet to explore. Highly recommend for those who enjoy the choose your adventure meets RPG elements wrapped up into one game and then some.

There was clearly a massive amount of work put into developing the lore for this game. And once you know it, it is extremely immersive. However, that is the drawback. You have to commit a couple hours to reading the manual and lore to know what you are doing. You cannot play this game blind and have any chance of winning. The advice from the advisors is useless since between them they will recommend every option. Don’t get us wrong, we throughly enjoyed the game, but it was a lot of work getting ready to play. We never really enjoyed the hero quests though since it felt like trial and error to figure out the right choices, and once you did, you could do them over and over again easily.

We want to rate 5 stars but we can’t. Depth of gameplay is fantastic and the game itself is very, almost surprisingly fun. That all being said, when you advertise your game as fully playable with VoiceOver, we expect that to be true. The map is frustrating at best, navigation order on several screens leaves much to be desired, we need a more precise way to adjust numerical values and in several cases, vital text is missing, leaving you to make a choice with no information.. This last can be disastrous, and comes up most often during quests. With a little work a 5 star app easily, but right now, we feel 3 is more than generous.

We really hope seeing how we paid for the game just to finally finish the making the clan u guys wont just forget about us n will update.

Worth $5 max. $10 that we paid we should’ve received a bundle with two expansions (which would make this game hit its potential along with good updates). Addictive and Well designed Story/Play – Has Potential for Greatness and Overpriced.

If you love homework and don’t have anything better to do you might like this. But in our opinion if you really wanted to work and study you’re better off getting a second job or going to school as this would actually help your life and probably be more fun.

This app is by far the greatest game on the App Store. We consistently buy games and we’ve never played a game to where we screenshotted the ending and look back on it every now and then to remind us how awesome it was. If this game charged $20.00, I’d still buy it. The decisions, the game mechanics, the quests, everything. Game was just great.

We play this game on our iPhone 5s using voice over. The game is a lot of fun even if it feels a little random at times. By random we mean it’s a little hard to play strategically when potential outcomes for any decision made are completely unpredictable at times. There is a lot to do in the game. Tons of hours of gameplay. Hi replay value as there’s so many scenarios you want to revisit. Highly recommended for old-school PC RPG fans as well as blind or low vision users as voice over works well. Sort of feels like civilization meets dungeons and dragons. Voiceover could still use a little improvement. For example when adjusting the slider for resources you can’t get The exact number of resources you want to allocate.

This game is as realistic as the game’s situation can get. For example, let’s say for the sake of example you raid and fail so you go back in time, you might send stronger forces, but things might be different and if they are the same, the outcome might be different. What we’re saying is that you never completely have control, so maybe if you restart the year, half the things happened before might never happen the second time.

This game is about increasing the number of cows your tribe has, build an empire without cows…? We don’t think so.

We’ve been playing this more then we play games on our laptop or ps4 it’s awesome.

Not a role-playing game or a Civilization clone, but a storytelling game.

Absolutely enthralling game. And the UI is phenomenal. We’ve never seen an old computer game better ported to an iPhone. Hours and hours of fun, and so much replay value! A must have for fantasy RPG/strategy gamers.
