Kingturn RPG is an addictive turn-based fantasy strategy RPG which takes both wits and patience to be mastered.

‘A Brilliant iOS Tactical Battle Game’ [TouchArcade review]

The game combines outpost conquering with tactical combat and a complex unit skill system.
Embedded in a compelling medieval fantasy story with quirky characters, the player can delve into this old school tactics RPG for many hours.

Kingturn RPG marks the 2nd chapter of our Kingturn trilogy, and offers a few exclusive character classes like Summoners and Tricksters.

Story

The young mage and scholar Nicolette becomes the new ruler of the earldom of Montbelliard after her lord-father has passed away peacefully.
Having not come of age, yet, Nicolette finds herself unprepared for the games of power played by the other noble houses.
Surrounded by enemies and with the prospect of marrying an unknown noble for political reasons only, her fate takes its course …

Excellent gameplay. Compelling story. No ads. You can play when offline. We are picky when it comes to mobile games. This game however was 100% worth the price and plays more like a PC game than a mobile game. We have since purchased the developers other games and am enjoying them as well.

This game aswell as the other kingturn games are amazing, they have great characters and story, aswell as all around great gameplay. A little bit pricey but definitely worth looking into.

Challenging but very fun one you get the hang of it. Not too hard to get into, but pretty deep. Wish they had tool tips for the options and the tutorial is a video/pdf, could be a good or bad thing depending.

This game is fun and cool but WAY to short to justify the price. We played it periodically for about a week and its over. Too bad, it was a fun game but if Id have known how small it was Id never have wasted the money. The 2 repeatable takes get cheesy really fast.

Pretty awesome RPG game. We recommend for all RPG game lovers like myself.

Great game and wish we could play it fully, but the $4.99 (it doesn’t tell you how much, we looked it up) is just a bit much for our taste. If you don’t mind paying, we fully recommend the game!

This is possibly the best game we have purchased on mobile.

This RPG game is amazing has great graphics, the gameplay is great also has good fluidity, the colors are very well chosen, we love.

Rpg is always our favourite style and this game is not an exception. Simple graphic but amazing game play. Good jobs.

A great game at a great price point. The asking price is more than fair for zero ads and IAP. A couple of design concerns. Shopping/inventory management is pretty awkward at first. Also some party members are always picked to be in certain missions which story wise is fine but you never know who the game is picking so they’ll deploy 1-3 units that might not be equipped for battle. Other than that it’s all good. We’ll be picking up the next in the series. Hopefully they addressed those issues.

This is a great game that is fun to play and free to download. However if you want to play past the first few battles you have to spend $4.99. There are a few better choices out there for that kind of money.

While it doesn’t have the depth of final fantasy tactics it does have its soul. Awesome game.

Just deep enough to hold our interest, and just challenging enough to frustrate us for making a mistake.

We got all three. Please make more! ***I am having trouble restoring our purchase ?

Very well made. Easily one of the best games we have for our iPad. You get to try before you buy, which is nice. It’s easy to pass this one up, but IMO it’s a must-have for strategy lovers. Our only complaint, and it’s a small one, is that you can’t replay most story missions except by starting a new game.

Get past the graphics. You will not be disappointed. An excellent rpg. A true diamond in the rough.

This game just blew our socks off. It’s got strategy, storyline, rpg, comedy, rpg, and most importantly is fun. Great game, great method of letting us try before we buy. Anyone looking to buy this on ipad, wait till October 10th when underworld is release and you can play the whole game in order. Then again, download these two already out and play through the introductions. Good stuff. :)

Best strategy rpg we’ve played on mobile and one of the best on any. Music is much like the original ultima, usually first thing we do in a game is turn off the music, but not in this case. Would really love different tracks. Pay game well worth it, it’s a full game with loads of play time. And not crippled by iap, other than the option to purchase full version. Ps.,please add iCloud.

Back around 2005, we had a game called Ancient Empires II on a little piece of junk Nokia phone, and we loved it. Of course, the phone got obselete and we upgraded, but had no way of loading our Ancient Empires to the new phone. So we have been looking for a clone of that game ever since. Well, now we have found it. Kingturn is great and it stands on its own merits. Have played it many times and it’s always a blast. THANK YOU Mangobile.

We replay trilogy and old version 11 times, hahaha (sorry for our poor english)

Very good game! The A.I. Is very strong! Kudos to the developers!

As a big fan of SRPGs, but not a big mobile game player, we decided to pick this up on a whim from the marketplace as an effort to have a playable game on our I-phone for when the situation allows it. We expected to like it, but didn’t foresee enjoying it as thoroughly as we did. We had planned on playing it on an upcoming international flight that is a few weeks down the road, but we ended up becoming addicted to it and we’ll need to purchase the next one in the series for the flight, haha. We finished it in about a week, playing a few hours a night. It certainly offered a lengthier entertainment value than we were expecting, and had just the right amount of challenge on the standard difficulty to make us have to think about our actions, but not grow frustrated with dying. We consider the purchase well worth it and look forward to picking up both of the other games in the series. Thanks for the great game, Mangobile!

We’re always looking for a turn based RPG like "FFT", or "shining force 2". THIS IS IT!!! No in app purchases! Just awesome game play. It takes about 22 hours to beat but once you do they have two fights you can continue to play after the game ends and your opponents are the level as you even as you level up. We’re getting our guys to level 99! So awesome. Make more like this!!!

Worth the money. Very well balanced, played completely through without getting bored. Job well done. Will purchase any future sequel.

Ok when the iPod updated it said we have to buy the full version again amazing game though.

Great game overall (you have to pay to unlock full game, so 2 star demerit for that) Also, If you’re constantly short on gold in the skirmish mode all we have to say is: Scene 211, Paladin/Mage the bridge, farm using thunderstorm/inferno. Easy 4k gold/hour.

Great game! Hours of fun. Looking forward to part 2!

Amazing turn based strategy has a feel of final fantasy tactics but in our opinion better. Great story ridiculous amount of quests, and side quests. If you care more about game play rather than graphics download this one for sure. If you could add some kind of multiplayer it would be even better but absolutely no complaints here.

We used to think these kind if games were stupid, but then we tried a fire emblem demo and have liked this genre after that. Great game. :D.

We cannot put this game down. If you like Fire Emblem, FF Tactics, or Shining Force, this game will not let you down. The graphics are not modern, but the tactics and gameplay are very fun. Can play at multiple difficulties and we can already tell it will have replay value. Love it.

This game is awesome. Reminds us of shining force, though its clearly different. Can’t wait for the other two games in the series to port to iOS.

We recommend it to people who actually like a good game.

It has been a long time since we have been truly challenged by a tactical game, but this one has done it. The main reason for this is the game’s AI, which may be the best AI we have played against. Often a TRPG challenges the player by pitting them against much more powerful forces that are poorly operated – this one most often pits you against slightly superior forces that are used to great effect. We salute the designer and programmer of this game and its AI. Mechanically, the changes it makes to the TRPG formula are brilliant – the addition of a barracks lets you use all your forces in a battle without making the battle overly complex, and it means the enemy forces just keep coming, so you end up with charges and counter-charges all over the field. We’ve managed come-from behind victories in plenty of games, but this is the only game where an AI has pulled one out against us. The AI is masterful, and it took us several battles to start playing on its level. It will target your weak units and healers and take them out first if you don’t protect them. It will keep the objective in mind and focus its efforts to capture your barracks and defend its own. We’ve tried multiple ways to outsmart the AI and find a weakness, and though it does have one, it was quite difficult to discover and the maneuver can be hard to pull off. Lastly, in terms of difficulty, your units gain exp, items and gold even when you lose a battle, so eventually you can beat any scenario if you just keep playing it – so even though the game is challenging, you will never get stuck anywhere. Kudos on a fantastic game. We hope there will be more of them.

This is an awesome game. We were very hesitant to pay the 5 dollars for this game so we waited and watched the reviews. Everyone seemed to like it so we bought it throgh the iap. We tried to continue our currant game but we kept getting the message "prolouge is over please purchace". Sooo we started a new game. After 6 campains we get the same message. So we deleted the game and reinstalled. Same thing. We’ve tried restoring the purchace and starting a new game. And we just got the email saying we got charged the 5 bucks. Did we do something wrong or is this broken. 5 star game but its getting 1 until its fixed.

Very fun! Well worth the money! The game is really long and challenging.

Long and challenging tactical turn based gameplay show that you don’t need flashy graphics to make a great game. This developer isn’t new to the game either, the first 2 games from Mangobile are also great strategy gamesthey just improve on the formula each time and this is the best one yet. For up to 50 hours of gameplay it’s well worth $5. Oo. It has a story and a lot of variety and it’s very addicting because you always want to play just one more scenario.

Many classes of units such as archer, knight, mage, etc. Lots of fun. Has a fire emblem feel.

A very deep strategy game with great RPG elements!

Super deep tactical RPG with a fun narrative to boot! Kingturn should be topping the charts!

This is by far the best app we have ever found. We do have a question and figured this was the only way to get this seen. The assassin Gaspard. While we were playing, the chapter that we were supposed to get him it said there was an error that they couldn’t find him and so we are concerned that we won’t get him and that would make us very sad. If you can look into this bug/glitch/error/problem we would love it even better. Thank you in advance:-)

Wonderful game with deep gameplay and a great story. If you are a fan of classic srpg’s then you really should pick this gem of a game up.

One of our favorite strategy games this year. Before you play, view the online tutorial (the game has a link to it from the main menu). If you like SRPGs then give this one a shot, it’s well worth your money if you decide to upgrade to the full game.

We’re still in the prologue but we’re looking forward to purchasing the full game. We’re having a blast with it so far. We would compare with Wesnoth but this game is deeper with RPG elements. You can upgrade weapons, armor, skills and various stats. Characters level up. There’s a lot to sink your teeth in to and plenty of strategy. We like the sound effects. It’s pretty easy to pick up and play after watching the video tutorial. The rest is pure strategy. You are able to optimize weapons & armor by pressing a button. Simple and easy. If this type game interests you then this is the best available or most fun and engaging.

We have to say, we really like this game, the different modes, classes, scenarios and system :D,though there are some bugs (the game crashing randomly)and we also like the autosave, but we wish there are more repeatable scenarios on Skirmish,so we give this a 9/10 :)

Gameplay is decent at best. There’s a lot about this game that limits its gameplay. There’s also no undo button and controls take a little bit getting used to. Fun while it lasts, which isn’t long. This is only the prologue, full game costs $5.

Not worth $5 to buy the whole version.
