Lifeline: Bloodline – Entertainment Game Review
![]()
Lifeline: Bloodline is a Entertainment/Adventure/Roleplaying game from 3 Minute Games, Inc., first launched in 22nd September 2015.
It’s rated 9+ and currently has 1,135+ ratings on the App Store.
What Makes Lifeline: Bloodline Stand Out
The original Lifeline took the App Store by storm, reaching #1 Top Paid Game on iPhone and Apple Watch in 55 countries. Its compelling mix of real-time storytelling and Dave Justus’s suspenseful writing continues to capture the imaginations of countless players worldwide.
Lifeline: Bloodline raises the bar with a new story almost twice as long as the original, with many more choices and paths to explore.
The second story in the Lifeline series connects you with Arika, a young woman on a deadly quest to avenge her parents and rescue her long-lost brother. Your choices will keep her alive and help her succeed as she faces mortal danger on her way to a final, fateful showdown against the forces that threaten all of humanity.
Lifeline stories play out in real time. As Arika travels to complete her quest, notifications deliver new messages throughout your day. Keep up as they come in, or catch up later when you’re free. You can even respond to Arika directly from your Apple Watch or your iPhone lock screen, without launching into the app on your phone.
After completing any story branch, you can rewind to earlier parts of the story, or speed through parts you’ve already read. See what happens when you make a different choice: will you guide Arika virtuously, or cut corners to gain an edge? Seemingly simple actions can deeply affect the outcome.
Arika’s story, and the fate of the world, depend on your judgment. You will face the consequences together, because Arika is relying on YOU.
Lifeline: Bloodline features no in-app purchases and no ads. An Internet connection is not required.
Praise for the original Lifeline:
“[A] surprising iPhone and Apple Watch bestseller is pushing the boundaries of fiction” – boingboing.net
“This is the best game on the Apple Watch” – Time.com
“I’ve played many games that I find engrossing, but Lifeline may be one of the first that changed the way I thought about my daily routine, which leapt off the screen and became a part of my lived experience.” – Eli Cymet, Gamezebo
“For a few brief hours I cared – really cared – about the fate of a completely fictional character. I don’t think any other game I’ve played has made me feel that way before.” – Matt Thrower, PocketGamer

Community Insight:
Hello, we really enjoy this game and havent finished it yet, but we would like to. We finished a couple of endings, however, with the latest update, the music doesnt seem to be working. We will turn it on and it will stay on until we make a choice and once we make that choice, the music will turn off, and we will have to go back into the menu and turn it back on. It gets kind of tedious if you can fix this, that would be amazing. Thank you in advance.
Definitely one of our favorite Lifeline games! Arika is a fun, quippy character much like (but distinct from) Taylor, and the storyline has some genuinely interesting conflicts. The UI is great, much better than Flatlines, and the wait times werent too egregious. Theres plenty of content here to read we highly recommend giving this game a spin.
You can never go wrong with Lifeline games.
Hi, will you make another game continuing this storyline or another choose your own path story game with magical ideas involved? Ive only played the original lifeline and this game. This story was way more engaging in our opinion. Im down to help you write it if you want, but Id like another if youre willing to make one.
The Lifeline series is by far our favorite text adventure series. We would definitely love to see more games soon. Maybe a continuation of Taylor or Arikas story.
Its as great as we remember however the part on apple watch where you put your name in it crashes and rewinds the story a bit.
We have played this game a couple of times and this past time was the first time we actually succeeded and reached the end. It was a wild ride and an incredible story that just pulls you in like nothing else. We found ourselves actually worried about Arika as if we were actually magically connected with another person, and the game left us constantly thinking about it. It felt real and it felt powerful, with a great story to match and good choices for how to react, if you enjoy choice driven games, this is the game for you.
All the Dave Justus penned Lifeline games are amazing, but this one is our favorite, if only because of several slightly obscured references to one of our favorite dont-you-dare-call-them-goth bands.
We had finished the original Lifeline, managing to save Taylor, then bought this one. Arika is as easy to get attached to. There is so much to her story, and it is so in-depth. We loved it so much. We had to do two rewinds, before we were able to get her through. Are there any others with her.
Our vocabulary is probably under qualified to describe our experience what these games so Ill state it simply. We love these games every one of them. The story was captivating between the realistic characters conversations references it is almost impossible not to feel sad when you have to wait for actions like sleeping or traveling to be performed. We were so glad when we found out about this series and it is well worth the money. We cant wait for the storylines to continue. Thank you for the passion these stories are told with.
Favorite lifeline aside from possibly the original book – well worth the purchase.
Easily, and we mean EASILY, the most enjoyable game we have downloaded. This trumps Pokmon GO 20 times over, the character design makes Arika feel like shes an actual person (as lifeline games tend to do) and the fantasy approach really helped us enjoy this even more, dont get us wrong, we played Lifeline and Silent Night before Bloodline, but goddamnit if this isnt the best the series has to offer to us as of yet. If you havent already downloaded this, we HIGHLY recommend it, they even added fast mode to make sure you dont have to wait as long, have fun, and make the correct decisions.
Our favorite Lifeline game in the series, it combines everything we love about the games into one masterpiece.
We enjoyed very minute of this adventure. It was a living book. We loved that it was all text. We loved that it was in real time. We loved that it allowed us to make decisions that affected the story. We loved the humor and the spunky main character, Arika. We look forward eagerly to the next installment.
We enjoyed the humor and snark of the protagonist, and felt caught up in the story and the tension. We highly recommend giving it a try. :).
This game is the only game Ive played until Ive gotten every single ending, this is the only game we liked so much we reviewed it, download this game and please try to like it, it may be an lil bit shorter, but its so much better please make an sequel.
Ive enjoyed all of the Lifeline games Ive played, and this one is no exception. Its so easy to get wrapped up in the game and find yourself checking in on it periodically, hoping for more news from the protagonist. Cant wait for a Bloodline 2.
This is all that we could think about for about three days. We absolutely loved it.
We love lifeline 2 along with all the other lifeline games and when we had heard this one came out we were excited. It was so worth the money! It's a really captivating storyline and we really enjoy the detail and the large amount of choices you get to make. Although we did discover a typo. When arika is ranting about fiery habanero doritos getting discontinued, when you respond: that really should have been the absolute first thing we should have told you when we met, it says us instead of we. Finally replaying it in an attempt to get a better ending! Im almost there! ().
We wasn't as into this one initially, but we grew to really enjoy this story and character. Good length too.
This was a really cool game, it really felt like you had a connection with the character and we're sad to see the end. Good Job.
We love the storyline and the ability to change the game based on the choices we make. The character is witty and funny, and we love the sass. We definitely went ahead and downloaded the rest of the game, we're very happy.
We don't care what other people say about this game the story is great the characters are great and the ending will be remembered. It deserves more than 5 stars.
We just finished the game and we're genuinely wanting more, it has an amazing story plenty of humor and a main protagonist that feels so genuine and real that you feel sad when it ends. 5.
Witty writing and a fun execution.
This is the second lifeline game we've played though we have downloaded them all and we can't imagine lifeline getting any better!! This is a definite MUST buy. 10/10 Wouldn't play it again because we already know the story.
Great game! Wonderful storytelling. We truly felt a bond with Arika. It's easy to forget that she's not real, and we wanted her to be happy throughout the entire thing. Keep 'em coming.
Man, we hated to see that story end! It made us scared, worried and anxious for Arika and with every victory, we cheered for her and wanted nothing more than to see her succeed in her quest. But now that it's over and she won… Now we want to see more from the story. We want to see Arika again. We hope there is a sequel to her tale. That was amazing.
We really want to interact with Arika more after the adventure. Hope to get a sequel with Arika sometime in the future.
Loved this game. Could play at our pace. Killed her off a couple times but learned from our mistakes and completed the game. Can't wait to d/l another.
It's nothing amazing like the first one but still worth a read. We enjoyed it.
Our favorite game so far. Really hope the end game is true and that we will be seeing Arika Lanpear again.
We really enjoyed this game especially the story. We hope they make a sequel to this game.
We loved this chapter!!!!! We hope they continue this with the Arika series like they did for the Taylor character.
This game is fantastic we've played all the games just waiting for the next one to come out and this one is our favorite. We've gone through and replayed all of them twice, we really hope the next one is about arika.
This was an enjoyable time passer.
First off let us start by saying we do not normally write reviews. Growing up we had a hard time with reading and never took to reading. Definitely an awesome story. Our top 2 favorites have been this one and Whiteout. Can't wait to see what they do next…. As sad as this may sound, we want to say thanks to the creators for helping us want to read again.
No complaints at all, the devs really did a good job on this one.
By far our favorite of the lifeline series we can't wait to start the next one, the story progressed well and the fact the each choice can have a dramatic effect on the story is amazing.
Just finished this and we are not disappointed. Very well developed and a lot of fun all the way around. It was a nice feature having the character acknowledge us by name making the interaction that much better. At some point with all her questions, we were expecting her to ask how we seemed know things as if we were some kind of time master or deity. Anyway, a very charming story – no pun intended. Loved it, please write another one with Arika.
This game is, by far, the best game on the App Store. Of all the Lifeline games it has the most believable protagonist. It's a terrifying, gripping, suspenseful, tragic, and emotional story that will make you wish Arika Lanphear was a real person. Our only criticism is they haven't made a sequel to this game. PLEASE MAKE A SEQUEL.
We love all the lifeline games, but besides the original lifeline, this one is probably our favorite. We're a sucker for magic and we felt so attached to Arika from the start. There was more story, too, and it was excellently written. We'd definitely recommend this to anyone who likes choice games and more to those who played the original lifeline. Can we give it more than five stars? As an apology for constantly making Arika walk, heh.
Besides a slightly anti-climatic and quick ending, this is one of the best Lifeline games, in our opinion.
This is the kind of app that if it were a show, at the end you would stand up with tears in your eyes clapping until your hands hurt. This series of apps are truly wonderful. Im in high school and obviously hate reading more than life itself. But the way this story is told and morphed around what you decide, is brilliant. Top of the line game right here. 10/10 would recommend.
That was so good hope the next one comes out soon.
Just finished. We could see how people finish on the first try. But, ending is great, story is great. Seriously, why are you still reading us? Just download it.
We played the first one and Silent Night before this one, and we think this one feels much more personal. Being able to have her call you by your name is a great addition to the game. It makes us feel like somewhere out there, there really is an Arika Lanhear, and a New Tenacity, and Monks of Time, and a Kildecatt's Curiosities, and a Floodland.
Honestly, Lifeline is our new favorite series. It has an exceptional story that wows us every time. SPOILER STARTS HERE we're currently playing this, at the part where Arika is watching the Greens burn, while doing the original on our phone.SPOILER ENDS HERE This series continues to wow us. We get attached to these characters over and over again. We would recommend to anyone looking for a really good story, and anyone in general. The fact that we're not even done with the game, and writing a review in general is rare.
Working our way through the series. What a time.
Love all the lifeline games. Great storytelling.
