Meridian 157: Chapter 1 Reviews

After playing the prologue we had to get the first chapter. We absolutely love this series. It brought back memories of playing Doom 3 for the first time, if you can believe that. We are truly impressed at the quality of this series and even more so once we realized it is just two people! Amazing job, thank you!

Support more developers like NovaSoft: two gifted individuals producing outstanding gaming experiences without resorting to data collection nor ads. We will absolutely pay to play for high quality games such as this. Just finished Chapter 1 and immediately purchased Chapter Two. Excellent, well-executed puzzles, exceptional sound and an immersive experience. Thank you!

Soooo good 2nd time thru! Tough puzzles but not too hard to make us crabby; gorgeous environments; hints/skips available is key! Playing the series again, very excited for their next big game.

Just played Chapter 1. Very good graphics and challenging puzzles. Hint system is well thought out. Cheers.

We’ve played through all three chapters now, and we can easily say that this is hands down the best escape room app we’ve ever played. The graphics and music are beautiful, the storyline is really interesting, and the puzzles are the perfect balance between challenging and intuitive. Love that you can play with or without hints. Worth every penny and more, and we hope the developer comes out with more. Wonderful game!!!

Yes its a classic seek and tap reminiscent of the early Myst games, but the story is entertaining and not too hard to solve the puzzles if youre on the normal setting. Just tough and fun enough to keep you looking. And just when you think the chapter is over a plot twist. The hints and prompts will help keep you from getting really frustrated if you need them. You want a bigger challenge? Turn off hints and prompts have fun and good luck. Of course there is always a good walkthrough somewhere on the internet if you really get stuck, but save that as a last resort. Its drawn with the artistry of a good graphic novel with enough detail to set the scene and not look like a cartoon. That really helps to spur the imagination to fill in the blanks. Audio sets the mood with a light soundtrack that is well balanced, airy and doesnt get in the way of the sound effects. All in all its a game well built by its creators and worth the few dollars spent per chapter for their efforts. Pro tip: Use your earbuds and play on a tablet with a stylus if you can. Spoiler Alert beware the cliffhanger. Nuf said.

We play a lot of similar games. This one has been really great so far. This one was more fun than the prologue, too.

Puzzles are good, distribution across large map… Good, storyline, what storyline.

Come on. Not enough game for money Played an hour now need chapter 2 Which costs more Then sure after short time need to purchase chapter 3 at even higher cost Why not sell all chapters in bundles?

This was a good game until chapter 2. Impossible to figure out what to do without always hitting the clue button. No indication within the game as to what is going on. The garage door puzzle was completed correctly once we took a clue and found a most obscure resolution. Then when we set the levers, nothing happened. We had to go into the clue and get it to solve the puzzle, in the exact way we had, and then the garage door opened. Im done. We dont care how it works out, this was not fun, but a waste of $3.

The graphics are detailed and well-made providing a good experience. The puzzles and clues are hard enough for some challenge but not too hard that you have to go for the tips a lot. But the tips are also clear and helpful. Over all great game and worth the $.

We’ve ventured through dozens of adventure puzzle games for the last 20 years. This one challenges you without being over the top hard. The graphics are great along with the storyline and clues. Overall great game and very enjoyable.

We had played every the room and house of davinci games and took a chance on this. It was pretty cheap so why not? Im glad we did because we’ve had a lot of fun playing. At the time of this review we have just finished playing through chapter 2 and bought chapter 3 just now. If you liked those first two games we mentioned then you should enjoy this game!

Some puzzle were definitely a big leap on getting an answer.

This game is derivative of Glitch games and not nearly as fun to play. The camera does not let you put a picture up when trying to solve a puzzle which is annoying. The puzzles themselves can be frustrating, mostly because it can be easy to miss some important items. Instead of getting hooked and wanting to figure out the next puzzle, we are finding myself putting our phone down, which we suppose in a way is better for us anyway…

This is a very good idea for a game story theme it never gets boring it just keeps on making you glued to your seat trying to figure out where do we need to go from here! And for a game that we play on our iPad it cant get any better but it does and sometimes we get stuck and it takes awhile to figure out which of our brain cells we need to use to understand the puzzle that Im on at the time of game play but eventually we get going again and thoroughly cant wait for the next adventure.

We dont use hints and we put settings on difficult we worked on it for weeks and we were sad when it endedso glad there is Chapter 2. Wow! Big improvements from the Prologue. It seems like puzzles were more well-developed, tested with more types of users maybe? Beautiful graphics, sound, and amazing details! Even though the puzzles are hard, they make sense when you figure them out (except for the wall safe in the basement That was the only one we had to do a walk-through for and it really still didnt make sense). There is so much variety in the puzzles. Very smooth moving from room, the map helped us make sense of it when we got disoriented or lost in the tunnels. We like Meridian 157 because it seems like it could be a real life place/situation, not a fantasy or sci-fi adventure. We dont usually replay games but we did, and second time playing it took a couple hours instead of a couple weeks! On to Chapter 2.

This is by far the best escape style game we’ve ever played. We would pay more if we had to so you more than get your $2 worth with this game. You dont have to pay extra for hints and the puzzles arent so hard that without some thinking you cant figure out. Its great that you get the option to choose between normal and hard so all around great game!

These puzzle games are no better than the actual puzzles themselves. Hard, not impossible. Clever, not frustrating. This game is there in the middle of the spectrum. It was fun!! We did need help on 2 or 3 of the puzzles, but at least afterwards, we could understand why we wasnt getting it. One game was so out of the box confusing that even after we saw the answer, we realized we never would have figured it out. Here, it took awhile for us to get used to not being able to pan around like other games but not a problem.

This is a good game with great graphics. For the most part, the puzzles are pretty good. You will need to explore everything to get clues and parts. Some puzzles are not very intuitive or easy to find the clues, but you can skip or get better clues to solve most. Good story line though.

We like this game and its very similar to games made by Glitch Games. 1 star less because some puzzles dont make sense. But fortunately the hints (most of the time) are really good and helpful in getting you by so you dont have to look outside the app for answer. The story is interesting and it makes us wanting to get going. Also the puzzles are variety and non-repetitive which is good and non-boring. Overall its an enjoyable game. Note: After playing for a while we realized this is not the beginning of the story/game. You need to download and play 157 Prologue first (a short intro game) before continuing on this game which 157 Chapter 1. So confusing.

Reminds us of the game Myst. Wonderful graphics, awesome music in a world to get lost in challenging your puzzle solving skills. On to Chapter 2. Keep them coming!!!!!

Graphics A+Story A+Puzzles A+. Couldnt do it without clues.

We really enjoyed this game, we would play it for hours at a time. We wasnt even frustrated when we couldnt figure out what to do next. Puzzles are sufficiently challenging. Its totally worth the $1.99- tons of gameplay, no ads and free hints. Play the free Prologue then get this game!

Excellent point and click. Challenging puzzles and great story.

Just as you keep digging in and getting sucked into the swing of things, the chapter is over. We’ve finished prologue and this in less than a day. About to go buy Chapter 2, because we cant leave things unfinished.

Not too hard and just long enough to keep you engaged without getting bored. Smooth gameplay.

First, let us say we very rarely write reviews, but this game deserves one. We are an old geaser from the days of text based escape room games like Zork, and the early graphical interactive fiction such as Leather Goddesses from Phobos, Leisure Suit Larry, and Freddy Pharkas. Of course the best comparison is to Myst, one of our all time favorites. Meridian 157 is on pare with Myst, with excellent puzzles and graphics. Kudos to the developers! We have to admit some of the logic behind some of the puzzles escapes us, but we are an old geaser after all! Getting ready for Chapter 2.

A fine game with challenging puzzles and a mysterious narrative. Good amount of play to Kate through the Epilogue teaser, and then to Chapter 1. Looking forward to the next episode of Chapter 2. Highly immersive, with great sound design. Was jonesing after completing The Room series This was just the ticket.

This game app is AMAZING !!!! So much fun its a great mystery and puzzle game very well made we HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!! Cant wait to start chapter 2…. PLEASE MAKE MORE CHAPTERS!!! Im already panicking about there not being a chapter 3 yet!! Lol.

Fun game, puzzles are difficult enough for a challenge without getting frustrating.

Fun game, nice atmosphere, decent puzzles with hints! A bit short but its cheap. Thanks!

For the most part we truly enjoyed the game. The graphics were nicely done and the tone of the story was pleasantly mysterious. Our least favorite parts were the spatial reasoning puzzles where parts have to be put in the right order to make things function. They have nothing to do with moving the story along nor do they have any connection to the problem at hand, just filler that eats up some time and makes the game play out longer. To us, they are tedious and the most silly part of this kind of puzzle game. If we want that kind of boring crap Ill play a rousing game of Sudoku. We feel like Im getting short-changed paying for an escape game that is fraught with tiresome filler. Ill probably get the next game in the series (with lowered expectations) but will most likely take the shortcut around the banal shuffle the pieces segments. Nice game, but you can do better.

There is a good range of puzzle difficulties but the game is very short. For a paid game we would expect it to be at least twice as long.

Im a huge fan of the Room series. This series is just increasingly frustrating. Not that it is difficult but that that it just doesnt make sense. We got stumped and our favorite walkthrough was irritated and gave up. Big no from mr for both chapters.

We are just a casual game player but this game was like a book you cant put down. The music and graphics really created a mood. It was spooky. We were frustrated with some of the puzzles but overall we were able to figure them out.

Keeps you goin and good graphics.

You have a fan for life. There is something so comforting about the mechanics of this game. Its not trying to be something its not. Its consistent, the puzzles are different and interesting and none of them were so hard we were annoyed (although some definitely had us thinking for a while). The world building has that myst quality but is still fresh. We want to k ow more!!! Thank you for the excellent imagery and world building annnnd ooo man back at it again with the bit of silent hill/horror seasoningjust enough for some spicebut not enough to ruin the contemplative aspects. Truly, thank you for making this game. It has heart and it shows.

Tough to due without the handy clues. Being clueless for to long is no fun.

So much fun for so little money. Very long gaming time!

We quit after the billiards/dartboard puzzle. The solution makes no sense. We were wary about downloading this after a similar nonsensical solution in the Prelude (prequel) game. We should not have paid for this game. We dont mind a difficult puzzle, as long as they are logical. This is not.

The ability to look around the rooms would be a step above and increase the game play tremendously.

We solve the puzzle of the books, rearrange them and find that the code bears little resemblance to the solution. How was we supposed to descern that the sequence was black, black, white, black, white?

Flat game, with many of the puzzles having ridiculous solutions. Reading the devs explanations for those solutions makes us chuckle. They are knocking off everything about the room games without delivering anywhere near the enjoyment.

We adore the Meridian series, the lighting, textures and stylization are top-tier always. Albeit some of the puzzles can be really difficult; like youd have to be in the mind of the developer to get… Theyre still solvable. We love the score, graphics and atmosphere as always. We will play anything released by this developer.
