Description

Meteorfall is a deck-building roguelike. You’ll choose your class from one of four unique adventurers, and then set out with a deck consisting of some basic attack cards. During the course of your adventure, you’ll be presented with the opportunity to add powerful new cards to your deck.

No adventure would be complete without slaying a few monsters that get in your way. In battle, you’ll draw cards from your ability deck. Each time you draw a card, you’ll be able to swipe right to play the card, or swipe left to skip a turn and regain some stamina.

Between battles, you’ll venture through a variety of locations, represented by an encounter deck. You’ll encounter blacksmiths that can upgrade your cards, temples that can help you optimize your deck, and mysterious characters that will make you all sorts of bargains.

The tactical strategy of combat micro-decisions mixed with the strategic element of deck-building provides a compelling and deep gameplay experience.

As with all roguelikes, death is permanent. You’ll earn some gems that you can use to unlock new cards, but it’s back to the drawing board after that. Start out with a new adventurer and set out on your quest once again.

The good news is that Meteorfall is different every time you play – you’ll encounter different locations, different enemies, and different quests. Part of the challenge is adapting to the challenging situations the game puts you in, given the cards available.

Good luck hero – it’s time to end the Uberlich’s cycle of destruction!

Meteorfall: Journey Reviews

Absolutely love this game! Great distraction when you need to turn your brain off. Very addictive and fun.

This is the phone game we’ve played the most of, satisfying simple decisions with interesting deck building and plenty of variety. Also no IAPs. Thank god.

We can no longer deny this is our favorite iOS game. The simple mechanics of this game translate into strategic depth (a mark of a great game) and a great feeling game that always tempts us with one more run or a quick run when we have any amount of spare time. It is really something very special.

We’ve really enjoyed playing this game. The art and gameplay are wonderful. The main issue that Im running into is that the alternative characters appear to just be better than the base characters. However, that means that we end up playing the same deck with the same strategy over and over again. Id really like to progress further but Im already getting a bit bored/frustrated doing the same thing over and over without progression after each characters unlocks. We would appreciate more unlock able characters that would allow us to try out different archetypes within each class and experiment and try to play a little bit more how Id like to play. Lot of fun, but we feel like our stay with this game will be more short lived than it could have because we dont feel like we can experiment and play how Id like to.

We have an iPhone 11 and the app looks like its zoomed in on our phone. Can you guys fix this please?

We are not sure about this game, it seems to lack any real strategy, and just feels like a wholly random experience. Maybe we havent gotten far enough in the game, feel free to correct us if we are wrong. Is this the game, swiping right or left? We are confused, where is the strategy where we get to choose which cards to play? We just dont see how swiping left or right on a single card is strategic or a meaningful choice for the player.

This game is made by a small team and is very charming. The mechanics are simple yet strategic and at times challenging. There are a few quality of life suggestions we could make, upon request but the game is solid as is.

This is the best game we’ve found in a long time in the app store. The gameplay is challenging but not daunting. Its easy to learn but developing the right strategy for each character is a rewarding series of trial and error. You can tell these devs actually like gaming. Thank you for not making us watch any ads. Thank you for not having a rapacious paywall. The graphics are cool and the score is good too. Our only request is more content. Maybe some sort of new dungeon that opens up after the player beats the game w/each character? Great job devs!

This is absolutely our favorite iOS game! Its provided countless hours of fun and we still play it regularly.

Absolutely phenomenal game, and exactly what we were looking for. The UI, however, could use some adjusting. Using an iPhone 11 Pro, some of the data (such as the Gem counter) is cut off. For a free game, this is acceptable. For a paid game, we do wish this would be adjusted based on device. Thats such a minor complaint compared to how wonderful the rest of the game is, please purchase Meteorfall: Journey. You wont be disappointed.

Its a great rogue like card game. We would really love a random hero button, but other than that we love it.

One Deck Dungeon crossed with a deck builder and a touch of roguelite. Adventure Time style and theme is wonderfully done. – There are multiple classes and each class plays differently enough to feel unique. – There is enough breadth within the classes to allow the deck building aspects to shine. – The bear theme tickles us to no end. – Others have noted a lack of content and we agree only in that we have played so much of the game and Im loving it. What content there is is highly polished and, like other short gems (Portal, Superhot, Thomas Was Alone), youre left wishing for a few more hours. – highly recommended if you like deck builders, roguelites, Adventure Time or bears.

We finally beat the final boss for the first time! Not super easy to do, so its super satisfying when you finally do it. This game is the right mix of accessibility and challenging. Not too easy, but not overly frustrating. Im a casual gamer; if we can finally win, its doable! And theres tons of replayability because you can play as different characters and the mix is a little different every time. The developer keeps the game updated, too. We do wish you earned more coins each round so that it would be easier to get rid of weak cards and upgrade good ones, but otherwise the game plays really well and is enjoyable. We do appreciate the fair up-front price and no IAPs, too. Thanks developer for a great game!

If you like deck building this is as good as it gets! Slay the Spire with a clever swipe right mechanic and more. Our new favorite game. No in app purchases!

This is such an incredible game! We really hope that maybe some local multiplayer might be an option in the future. We feel being able to create your own decks for multiplayer could make it even cooler. Great work!

See title. The gameplay and even the art feel like a bit of a ripoff of STS, but the mechanics are nicely polished and tuned for a faster experience. Great game if you enjoy Roguelikes.

It’s a great game. Easy to figure out. Just enough of a challenge. Hard to put down. Kudos. Also, we just love the take on the four archetypes (fighter, wizard, rogue, cleric) that’s not too standard and has some personality. Upgraded skins are not just skins, btw. They have totally different decks and start you off with a big push toward a specific build whereas the starting characters are more flexible with which play-style to choose and develop over the play-through. Highly recommended.

We wanna start this off by saying the game is fantastic and we think its worth the asking price, we’ve been playing this on the bus and while walking to the store, its a great time waster. We think the mechanics and overall theme of the game is great, however it lacks the polish we desire for a game thats about 4 bucks. Some performance problems on our iPhone 6, stutters and lags when loading some card effects. The main problem this game suffers, is simply a lack of more content or areas to progress too. Id like more choices for character classes, as the standard characters have very set archetypes that are hard to break out of if you want to actually win runs. Its controls are beautiful and genius for this type of game, however its genius is also its downfall, as the lack of choices can leave some games up to complete chance, as some enemies will kill you in one turn because you lack the HP to survive a lucky roll from the opponent. This happens early in the game and later on. A tip for any new players, getting HP early to survive the onslaught while youre still powering up your deck is a smart choice and sometimes passing on the upgrade is a better choice than trying to go for an ultra powerful deck. Anyways, great game, highly recommend, just wish there was more content, and a little more polish in regards to the cards visually, and special effects.

We have played this game A LOT, and theres a lot to like. Lots of characters to choose from and some fun tactics. But over time the little annoyances of the game really start to add up. We do not like how the game starts you over at the main screen when you lose, its annoying to have to go through the motions to add the enemy multipliers every time you start a new run, the attack cards are useless and are a burden, and lastly when you level up and get to choose a new card there needs to be an option to not take any card at all.

Meteorfall is a great turn-based strategy game, simple but with very high replay value. Its fun, you can play it for a few minutes and put it down and pick it up later to finish, or you can play a full game in about 20 minutes. The developer clearly loves what hes doing, and he interacts with players all the time on Reddit and Twitter, and is always open to suggestions for improvement. This is the kind of game – and developer – we should all be supporting, instead of the corporate mobile game companies who are only interested in the bottom line.

This is definitely one of the most re-playable mobile games we’ve ever owned. The gameplay is deep and thoughtfully designed, each character and deck is fun to play and plays differently. Plus, the developer is responsive and has put in a ton of effort to make this a great game. Get it, its a no-brainer!

Have really been enjoying this. Single purchase, no IAP shenanigans. Just the right difficulty level, it will take a number of tries to figure out how to best use each character. And once you do, it is really gratifying to see the strategy work out. Easy to play, perfect little game for on the go.

So we’ve seen a couple of reviews about the game being limited in gameplay. We love rogue like games as it is, and LOVE card games like this. Its true, when you die you should be able to pick cards you want to start with that you PAID for already. Also should be different events or interactions with characters. New classes would also be cool.

This game is lovely. We got it this morning and played through a few times to beat it. Fine, good game. It was fun. But it wasnt done with us. When we came back a few hours later we discovered the next difficulty level, and was cemented to our phone for the several hours it took to beat that. The game is a nice balance of risk assessment, luck, and personal style. Decent replayability with the characters as well. We would love to see a longer mode with an ability to NOT take cards both at the beginning (when unlocked w crystals) and later, when they are given as a reward for leveling up. Either this or cards should be included in the scoring. Extra cards can be a huge handicap in score, play (as intended), and money. Thanks for making a cool game.

One of our all-time favorite phone games. Lots of replayability.

Everything is great except the aspect ration on our iPhone XS Max. Parts of the UI are cut off making it look odd. Gameplay is still fine. Theres no issue using any of the buttons, but it doesnt look optimized for the new phones yet.

This isnt really a review as much as its a question for the devs; we were playing as Muldorf and Id just defeated a basic enemy when we suddenly got a FATAL ERROR code? The game script appeared in a red text and covered the entire screen and showed things like what character we were playing as, the cards in our deck, potential side quests, and a few other stuff. Is this a bug? Should we be worried? Id really appreciate a response. (Otherwise great game tho <3)

Honestly, solid 3.5, really fun and enjoyable game with surprising depth. The only reason it isnt a 5 star because of eventual game burnout. Once you beaten the w/ character once it isnt terribly fun to replay harder and harder modes w/ no rewards. For us anyway. LOVE that there is alternative characters (well, one right now) to buy with in game currency, need more of those please! As of now we just have a pile of gems burning a hole in pocket w/ nowhere to go. More card variety would be great as well. This game could be really amazing, but at the moment its just a fun little time-waster.

The perfect game for commuting. Simple but lots of replay value. Makes us miss Magic the Gathering.

Its just a really nice straightforward easy to use and we understand mobile card builder.

This is a unique game that is well made and balanced with no pay to play features at all. It is beautiful in its simplicity. This is the first game we have ever been provoked to write a review for. Id put it on par with the kingdom rush franchise. The only minor complaint is that it is so fun that we beat the normal levels in a week, now we will move on to nightmare mode.

If you play long enough youll realize that the developer definitely has coded the game to place your unusable cards on top of your deck when it reshuffles. It also randomly drains your most powerful cards with certain spells. We also noticed that our attacking spells usually arent offered as an option when playing the meditate card. It really takes away from the experience when you know the shuffle is bogus.

This and Dreamquest are two of the best games on the App Store. While Meteorfall had a few early weaknesses, the developer has done a phenomenal job of fine tuning this game in response to feedback. We cant wait to see what he does next.

This game is definitely one of the better card rogue likes and definitely has lot of Replayability.

We’ll start by saying that we think this game is cool, and one can certainly have fun playing it. The main problem we have with it is that there often isn’t enough information available to the player to allow for tactical decision-making. Examples: -I can’t see what cards remain in our deck while taking our turn (if there even is a deck? There’s no obvious shuffling, so it’s hard to know how likely we are to get a card at any given point in time). If we have 4 stamina left (but 3 actions), and we’re trying to decide if we should play a weak-ish card that costs 3 stamina, we need to know how likely it is for our next card to be something I’d rather play -I can’t see what cards the enemy will be playing (i.e. What’s in their deck) or how many cards they’ll play per turn, so how am we to know if we should fight a monster or hide when we’re at half health? -If a card produces other cards (e.g. Curses), there needs to be an explanation of what those cards do when we’re deciding if we should add it to our deck -Why do we have to reset the tutorial to get an explanation of how spells and charges work if we didn’t happen to pick a class with spells on our first play through? There should really be a compendium of sorts where one can read up on the rules in case they missed something Let us finish with saying that we want this game to be better. We hope the developers see this, implement some of the changes that we suggest (or come up with better ideas for how to solve these problems), and this becomes something we’re excited to come back to in the future.

We’ve played this game for about 4 hours so far and continue to get reliably killed by the second boss. We’ve altered strategies and tried every character. We do best with Rose the healer utilizing and upgrading Blinding Light. We love the interface and enjoy the game; we trust that theres more to it but with a learning curve this subtle and steep Im losing interest already.

Played through a few times… Still total mystery how or why we died. Just last time, we had more health, our turn, we attacked then boom all hit points gone. No clue why. You have a nice recap, except for the last round? Ummmm… Ok.

We love the game dont get us wrong. But after many hours of play the game becomes trifle. We would love a way to loop or after the boss is defeated a way to replay with the same deck and harder enemies to create a challenge after you beat everything.

We love this game because we cannot win. It’s so fun and challenging, and we keep coming back so we can conquer these friggin quests with ALL of our heroes. Thanks devs!

This game is fun to play the first time, the 10th time, and the 100th time. We’ve had this app since it launched and it is a reliably good time with every round played. The updates add complexity and new mechanics, the characters are gorgeous and the overall feel is fast and fun. Id give this app 6 stars if we could.

Great, fast and fun one handed RPG based card game action! Well worth the price. Its a great little time killer with plenty of tension and meaningful decision points. Lots of room for expansions too. Heres hoping the Dev releases some new content going forward! Update: we previously had a few minor quibbles about the lack of opportunities to customize the players deck in game. However, after two major updates, this is now one of the best games for IPhone we own and we own a lot. Plenty of opportunities to really hone your deck and build your character. Want to play a fire mage or an ice mage? No problem. A fast, acrobatic thief or a subtle poisoner? Can do. The latest update offers a new, more difficult deck to play against if you so choose and it is FANTASTIC! Wish list: One more player character and something meaningful on which to spend the in game currency; Players choice of additional starting cards or temporary buffs. Whatever play tests well. Amending our previous rating of 4 to 5 stars. This is a GREAT game. Buy it!

This is our fav iOS game at the moment. In a market full of F2P time-sinks, this game shines. A quality game, worth every penny.

By far our favorite game on our phone. And the developer is great, hes put a ton of love into this game and it shows. The new update makes it even better, adds a ton of replay value. Get it!

Our only suggestion is to give you a way to un-purchase the three special cards you get at the start. Overall, though, its a fantastic game and WELL worth the money.

First things first. This is a 5 Star game and incredible value for the money. A fun, exciting RPG card battler with exceptional replayability and zero IAP (thank you!) Each character class offers a very different playstyle, and the random, rougelike elements keep you on your toes in the best way. A couple nits hold things back slightly. Playthroughs offer gems that can be used to unlock new starting cards. A lean deck is vital to successful runs and there is no option to remove unlocked cards from your starting decks. As a result, you can end up crippling your decks by unlocking subpar cards (dont do it!), which *should be a reward. This definitely needs a tweak. We also think endgame balancing needs a slight tweak. We like how you can get surprised and die in almost any match if youre caught off guard or get unlucky, but the final two bosses are a bit OP, and can seemingly only be defeated with very specific builds (and major RNG luck) – which limits exploration and variety a bit. Those quibbles aside though, this is a phenomenal effort from a small developer and definitely worth the buy. We’ve gotten hours for pennies from this purchase.

An amazing RPG deck building game! Its great to see non-F2P games succeed in the mobile market. This one is worth every penny. The gameplay is fun and fast paced. The developer has been committed to new content as well.
