A Glimpse into Ministry of Broadcast

A country divided by The Wall. To cross it and reach your family, you must compete on – and win – a reality TV show broadcast by the Regime.

Seemingly built overnight, The Wall has divided both a country in two and a man from his family. To see them again, our ginger-haired protagonist has decided to become a contestant on “The Wall Show”, a Regime-organized TV show allowing competitors the opportunity to escape to freedom on the other side. However, as he progresses through the camp, our contestant soon realizes exactly how the Regime and the show operate. The promise of freedom is not exactly what it seems.

Inspired by games such as Prince of Persia (1989) and Oddworld: Abe’s Exoddus, Ministry of Broadcast revives the spirit of classic cinematic action-adventures where players need nimble run-and-jump reflexes and a healthy aversion to falling from precarious heights. To reach freedom and family, you must lead the protagonist through each of the Arenas while under the ever-watchful mechanical eye of the Regime. The variety of hazardous, dilapidated environments hold an array of obstacles for you to manage—leg-shattering drops (scared of heights?), flaming barrels of garbage (extra-smelly, extra-flamey), inconveniently-placed spike pits (of course), hanging steel beams (so much rust)—but none of this is to speak of the fates of those you meet along the way.

CINEMATIC ADVENTURE – Run, jump, crash, and climb your way through each Arena as the action unfolds around you. Much of the story is unveiled via smoothly integrated animation sequences, within the environment, or from NPCs muttering bits of dialogue as you dive and dodge around them.

ENVIRONMENTAL HUD – Rather than having a screen cluttered with overlaid indicators, HP bars, and minimaps, any information the player will need is incorporated into the environment. Hints and clues are meshed into the game’s art, subtle and specific, players will need a keen eye if they want to survive each Arena without breaking their legs.

BRAIN-BENDING PUZZLES – Use your wits, and at times a dash of ruthlessness, to advance through the Arenas. You’ll have to interact with the environment itself to solve most of the puzzles: use the protagonist’s momentum to move platforms, flip the occasional lever, and sometimes you might have to sacrifice an NPC or two to cross a particularly spiky pit.

TONS OF DARK HUMOR – Featuring lots of impish humor, Grade A sarcasm, and comic mischief, all balanced perfectly with the dark, heavy themes presented in this dystopian world.

Supported devices: iPhone 6S, 6S Plus, 7, 7 Plus, 8, 8 Plus, X, XS, XR, SE, 11, 11 Pro; iPad Air 2, 3, Pro; iPad Mini 4, 5; iPod Touch 7th Gen (all iOS devices with more than 2GB of RAM)

We love the game from what we’ve played so far! (It can be hard sometimes and make us wanna rip our hair out) but beside that its a great game! (R.I.P joe)

This is the best game we’ve played in any platform in a long time. It is super immersive and really makes you think. Thank you so much for making this game!

We don’t generally write reviews, specially one were you die so often it gets infuriating, but this game brought back the joy of gaming back in the 80s. Will follow the developer in the future.

That game was our childhood but we can no longer play it because you havent updated it on 8 years so please update it.

We want refund our money but we cant find a way to do it.

You need to fix the controls on mobile it gets annoying sometimes.

Great game, really exciting… Wish he could have met his girlfriend. Please fix the controls and make them more user friendly. Thanks devs!!

This game is epic, the puzzles, realism, and the part where you die you get roasted. Also does the civilian get his boots back?

We are very particular with games that we like, much less love, but this is one of our top favorite games we’ve ever played. There are plenty of great things to say about it, but as someone who has trouble with games that take extremely exact and precise finger work, this game is challenging, but not so hard that we get frustrated and cant stand to play. We really enjoy how frequent the reloading points are! That way, when we try and try and finally make it through a tough part, only to die a second later, Im not disheartened that recent success is gone. The story is quirky, dark, and often funny. One other game we love is INMOST, and we actually found this game while searching for the internet for similar games to it. So if you also like INMOST, check out this game, and vice versa! We hope a second edition comes out so we can play more!

This game is amazing and we would definitely recommend it. The only thing is that its not completely free. You get to play the first chapter and thats when you get hooked. The problem is that we dont spend money on games so we can only play the first part.

This game was something we got because we wanted something to do. The story is very interesting as you solve each arena in this dystopian adventure. There is great humor, and the colors and scenery is truly breathtaking, even though youre seeing it on a screen. We recommend this game to all that enjoy detailed, intriguing, fantasy games that give you something to remember, even long after finishing the game.

We personally cant spend money on games rn, but the part of the game that you can play for free was really enjoyable. Only complaint would be the controls but we honestly kind of enjoyed the extra challenge.

We downloaded this game a while back, found it too difficult and deleted it, years later (now) we downloaded it again, and purchased the full game, and we have to say. It was the best purchase we’ve ever made on our iPad, If we could give more than five stars, we Absolutely would. This, In our opinion Is one of the best platformer/ puzzle game on the App Store, some puzzles can be a bit tricky, and take us a while But we managed to get to the end of the game. AND BOY, am we glad that we did. The ending Quite literally made us cry. 10/10 Best game on the iPad, would recommend :)

This was a rare gem. Usually we spend our time playing weak sauce mobile MMORPGs or what passes for a MobA these days. We found this a week ago and wow. Best $7 we ever spent on a game. Well done!! Ill be back for more.

Sure wish there was a sequel to this game, so fun!

Ministry of Broadcast is one of the best mobile games we have ever played. Excellent character development and an intriguing story combined with complex levels that test your problem solving skills make this game perfect. Even if the controls are a bit lacking, it is more than made up for by the games brilliance. Absolutely Spectacular!!!

We really loved this game. The gameplay is great and we especially love the obvious homage to the Berlin Wall and the GDR.

We found the fun until we encountered the controls now they were good but sometimes tricky to use in tight spots when you need precision making going forward harder but otherwise your game is great we love the style so keep up the hard work!

First off the game is great, love the running and jumping, good story, good level design. Second off we dunno what all these other reviews are talking about with the controls, theyre fine. We encountered no problems with the controls or otherwise. Great game, keep up the good work!

The theme is very reminiscent of todays Palestine and the apartheid Israel.

We enjoyed this game and hope there will be a sequel. The controls can be sticky at times.

We were having fun with this game, even with the tricky controls but we cant finish the game now because of a bug. Shortly into Day 4, we need to make our way down somewhere but there is no way to do it without dying. We checked a walkthrough to see if we were missing something and the walkthrough video showed a platform you can jump on that does not appear for us. Im not forgetting to push a button or flip a switch because the platform is just there on the walkthrough video when the player enters the room. Unless this bug is fixed and we are able to complete the game, we cannot give a good review. Update: we spoke to the developers and they explained that they deliberately removed this platform as it was not the way they intended users to go. They mentioned another way which we had unsuccessfully tried but we finally was able to do it this other way. So if have updated to 4 stars with the only issues being the tricky controls.

Hi! So we love this game, A LOT. Play it all the time! Im on an iPad 7th Gen, so this bug/glitch may just be because of that…. 1. The controls?!? What is up with the controls? We like them, but it WOULD be a bit helpful is the move control was fixed to a place on the screen, however, we do like the jump control 2. We play the free version. At the end of Arena 4, it tells us that we can buy the full version, when we try to do that we get an error message. When we exit the error message, it kicks us out of the game. Is this because the full version isnt finished yet or….. 3. On game where you have to buy the full version, you can buy it from the App Store. For this, you cannot which leaves us to believe the full version isnt available. Please fix! Thanks!

Genuinely enjoyed this platformer! Bit frustrating at times, but otherwise after a dozen or so tries in various places the solutions to puzzles emerged. Lots of shades to the original Prince of Persia, but a lot of its own intrigue and mechanics as well. The only issue we took was that on an iPhone 12, the controls could have been a bit more responsive, and the jump mechanic was especially particular on Day 5 during the climb the mountain sequence. At times it felt that we had to jump after we had already run off the level. Otherwise, we think Hitcent knows what they are doing, and Ill be picking up Forgotten Anne here, shortly! Look forward to more puzzle platformers form you guys!

This is kinda just a one and done playthrough.

Had a lot of fun! Controls arent as great but enough to get you through the game without being too much of a hindrance.

Ill change review to 5 star if doesnt have to pay.

We love this game and we got all the way to Day 1 Arena 4, when it told us we have to pay for the rest of the game. We thought it was free, but is it true we have to pay 6.99 for the rest?

Im happy with the game so far, controls, story, etc., and we bought the full version to continue the story. However, we cant progress past a certain point due to the game continuously crashing. At first it would crash only if we switched apps or got a text message, but now it crashes less than 30 seconds or so into playing. It resets to the title screen and we cant progress. :( For reference, Im at the part just after dropping snow on the burning dumpster, and Im on the elevator up top. Devs, if you can help, itd be much appreciated!! :)

Why does it have to cost money it was exciting at first now seeing that we have to pay to play.

We were really enjoying this game and the story line. However the controls are so frustrating and very unresponsive. So basically Im stuck at a certain place and cant move ahead any further in the game. We wish we hadnt paid for the full version. So this will be deleted.

Everything about the game is fine but we hate how there is a delay when tapping the controls. We try to jump and there is noticable delay that is very annoying.

The story is really nice, but the controls were just so annoying it kind of ruined it.

The concept for the game and the art style were great, but we have never gotten so incredibly frustrated at a game in our entire life, and we played Getting Over It. The controls for the game were so hit or miss that it made us want to strangle myself at times. We died so many times because of being a pixel off at a jump, or because the jump just didnt read. It would be so much better if it had smoother controls, and more of a hit box for jumping.

Great game, controls could better, unfortunately there is a show stopper bug where you cant see the water and falling in the water kills you. You literally cant finish the game without seeing the water level. Hopefully they will fix this so the water renders properly.

We think this game has potential because we like these kinds of games, but the controls are super hard! We dont know how to jump to a platform like in the beginning in the arena and we keep trying but its still hard and we didnt figure it out! Please make a control menu so we can see how to do it. Other than that the game is good so far… If we even pass arena 1! LOL we guess Ill give it three stars because we dont know much about the game yet its already hard to play.

We quite like the concept of the game. Its rather broken story that (kind of) makes sense as you progress. The controls however, are a different story. This has got to be one of the worst control mechanics we have ever used. Playing the game is really quite difficult because of the nonsense controls. We bought the full version thinking we would eventually get the hang of it we did, to an extent. But the controls really hold this game back from being great. To the dev team, please take note as Im not the only person with this complaint. Overall good game, but the controls are really terrible.

We relay love the style and premise of this game, its pretty cool and enjoyable to play, we’ve quit this game because of its ,(kinda) unintuitive controls, there fine for the most part, except for the millions of time you have to run jump, its very unresponsive most of the time. Other than the run jump. This is a very solid game and we appreciate it.

Wasnt long after purchasing that you hit the impossible radiation room with stuff falling from the ceiling. So annoying and ending any fun we had. Waste of money.

Cool story. The controls are terrible. If Im jumping up a level we have to stop, turn, then jump to it then dude takes a long time to finally get up on the level. Is it possible to at least pick shoes we want to wear? Show thing isnt bad just wanted to bring it up. Because why complain if we dont want any shoes.

Gameplay/concept seems interesting, but the controls are so bad that we end up too frustrated to enjoy the game. We cannot figure out how to run and jump on the ground, and online it shows that others are having trouble as well.

Fix. The. Controls. How are you gonna charge people this much and have it still unpolished? Idk how many times we’ve fallen to our death simply because the character wouldnt jump when we needed him to.

Seems like an amazing game the problem is the game keeps crashing for me.

Really wanted to like this because the story line seemed promising, but we cant even get to the arena because the running and jumping feature is too finicky. Also annoying that the controls can only be accessed on the left side as someone who is right handed and better handles controls on the right.

This game has a great premise but it is ridiculously hard to control the character. We dont think this game will get anywhere until the controls are redesigned.

We have tried and tried to beat the episodes and every time we die we get a we hope we dont devolve into youor aopen your mind not bodyI try our hardest to beat the episodes just to get so close then die and have a crow insult me.

This game was interesting! Interesting platformer with some occasionally fun puzzles and a cool dystopian setting, but where this game really fails is the controls. Especially towards the end game where precision and speed come into play, and the controls are anything but precise on the iPhone. Doing the same part over and over again isnt fun when its because we cant get our guy to face the right direction in a reasonable amount of time with out jumping off a ledge. When we finally do get through these sections, theres no sense of accomplishment, just relief. We want to be challenged by a game, but not what feels like just being punished because our iPhone screen cant tell that Im swiping up and not left. If theres an opportunity to play this on pc or something, try that. Not worth the money if youre on mobile.

If youre reading this, beware. This game is partly good. The only bad thing about it is that the controls are the worst controls on the planet earth. Do not download this game because the controls are complete garbage we are not going to say anything else. We couldnt make it past the first day because the controls were so sucky. We repeat, do not download this game.
