Dive into MISTICO
MISTICO – a small mysterious Spanish island hidden somewhere in the Balearics. You have often heard rumours of its existence, however, actually locating MISTICO has proven rather difficult.
After a drunken warm evening in a local bar you overhear some sun weathered locals speaking in Spanish. Picking up some of the words you learnt exploring the local area you decide to eavesdrop in on the conversation.
“¿Estás seguro?”
“¡Sí !, tengo un mapa claro a la isla de mistico.”
Another man suddenly appears at the entrance of the bar and beckons the men to leave everything and come quickly.
I watched the group arguing outside and they hurriedly jump in a sun battered car and leave. I take one last drag from my bottle and decide it was time to head off myself.
On the way out I notice the men had left a torn scrap of paper on the table they were seated at. I looked closer and noticed what was written on the paper. I quickly realised what I was looking at, longitude and latitude coordinates, scribbled in pencil.
“Surely not” I thought. “The exact location of MISTICO?”
Hiring a local boat, I set off on a journey on the high seas to where the coordinates pinpointed the location of the island. However, the journey didn’t go exactly to plan. Nearing the coordinates I quickly ran into trouble, all I remember was clear blue skies turning black and a strange humming sound.
Opening my eyes, I looked up and saw strange old house in the middle of nowhere….
“Where am I?”
ABOUT
MISTCO is a first person point and click adventure, similar to games you may have played in the ’90’s. A simple gameplay interface consisting of the world that you explore and an inventory panel where you can collect, combine and use items you find along the way.
Explore areas, collect hidden objects and take in your surroundings. You will need all of your puzzle solving skills to put together a plan to make your way through the island and down the many paths of escape.
How you tackle the puzzles is down to you. Each puzzle has a logical solution, so take your time, there is no rush and enjoy the process of understanding what you have to do.

Good fun and well worth the price!
Impressive effort from a solo developer. We bought the game on sale for 99 cents, don’t think it justifies a higher price (in comparison to other titles). This offers a high level of immersion and foreboding (feels similar to great titles like Meridian 157, Adventure Beyond Time) that isn’t quite fully realized with the story progression. The puzzles are pretty run-of-the-mill, with an over-reliance on figuring out safe combinations. Hoping for greater variety and depth in future titles.
For one, we couldn’t exit the game unless we forced our mac to shut down. Also some of the puzzle answers didn’t work, had to input numerous times or shut down, start again, only then did the answer work. The safe dial didn’t spin all the way around, almost gave up, had to "spin" the pointer around 10-15 times for it to get to the higher numbers. But overall, we liked the story, the puzzles were medium difficulty, a fun way to spend 20-30 min.
Fist off, we cannot exit the game. We’re unable to enter windowed mode and Option-Return doesn’t work either. We’re not ready to give up on the game yet… But need to be able to save and exit the game without resorting to a FORCE QUIT.
We can appreciate the hard work it must take to make a video game, but this effort doesn’t really meet the bar of a sellable app. The puzzles are not intuitive, and can seem arbitrary. The ‘Option-Return’ exit of the game did not work for us, and we had to ‘force quit’ in order to leave the game. We do applaud your effort as a ‘one man show’, so to speak… But perhaps this project needs a few more people to measure up to the competition, and function smoothly. Best of luck to you.
Enjoyed playing very much! It was a relaxing way to spend an hour playing an escape game frustration-free.
For those who like escape room-style games, this is not a bad way to spend an hour. Like most games in the genre, the puzzles are not related to the story. In fact, there isnt really a story at all! Controls are fine, except it would be nice to have a way to highlight the hotspots. And the visuals are impressive, especially for a solo developer. We hope the developer will make more games with a more suspenseful storythis is a promising start, but theres plenty of room for improvement.
With all of the code sequences we have had to totally close out of the game and once we restart the code works.
This would be great for a 4th Grader. The solutions are linear from beginning to end. Enjoyed the effort but this is not even close to a single puzzle in the referenced game from the past.
This is one of the worst games we have ever played. Items in the inventory list disappear before you can use them. We have restarted this game four times: disappearing ropes, disappearing torch, disappearing keys. What a total waste of money.
The combination 171115 does not work. Game over after a couple of minutes??
We just finished this game. It is very short but enjoyable.
