Find out what gamers are saying about Myths of the World: Black Rose HD – A Hidden Object Adventure (Full):

Eipix did it again! You are a vampire hunter complete with interactive vampire hunting kit. Keep your eyes peeled for black roses (every scene), pumpkins and assorted collectables scattered around. Artwork is beautiful, HO various types, labeled inventory and transporting map. Very well done game. Worth playing.

This one does not lead you by the nose, or repeat patterns. Set at Expert, it challenges you to think. We paid the special price $3.99. Bargain. We look forward to playing, not just getting through it. We love the achievements, although the souvenirs are not clear. Map could be quicker to access. But overall 5 stars.

We really liked the game, but we thought it was to short, puzzles were different from other games and we really liked the hidden objects, they were different from the usuale ones. Also, it’s nice that the prices have come down.

Many creative puzzles and HOGs. Long-playing, beautiful graphics, interesting plot. We will definitely purchase the sequel! Bravo!

Love these games, they keep you occupied for hours.

We liked this one. It seemed different-different games, puzzles & HOS. Beautifully drawn with lots to do and plentiful scenes. Minor execution issues-several HOS required double or triple taps. Two kinds of collectibles and a souvenir room, teleporting map & hint button, decent storyline, cut scenes & voiceovers. Liked the collecting of energy and geometric shapes for the light vial-well done Eipix! We won’t punish you for the tricks of your overlord, but Big Greedy Fish: STOP with the immediate purchase only with no trial. We DON’T like it. It FORCES us to buy without knowing what we’re buying. We get it, you want more money. Have you noticed most of us are waiting to buy until at least Dracyy or Sunshine Susie have told us something? Are your numbers down? You only have yourselves to blame…

We usually don’t rate the games, but we have to say we really like this one!

Awesome Epix. Beautiful graphics, puzzles and fun hops. This is a good buy.

We were thoroughly entertained playing this game. We were pleased that we could return to the game from the strategy guide. Thanks for fixing that glitch. Still disappointed we can not try a game before purchase. Will not buy the game introduced on 11/16 since the reviews were pretty iffy. Some times other folks issues with a game do not bother us but am not willing to get burnt with no trial.

We’ve played this three times now and enjoy it more each time. Great story and flow of action. We especially liked the indicator for collectableson each scene so you can keep searching till you find it (really extends game play). Excellent graphics, sound and story. Great job. Worth every penny.

We thought this game was fun. Story line and graphics. No glitches.

Best game we have played in a long time.

For the very first time our review about an Eipix game is mixed. We actually enjoyed this game, this story. We thought that the game matched the story which is one thing you can count on with Eipix. We also enjoyed the twists and turns the story took. But… We’re not quite sure what happened this time, if it was in the porting process or what. But there did seem to be a problem with the "tap fields" surrounding a lot of objects. They seemed to be very, small and very precise. You definitely had to find the "sweet spot" surrounding the object you were trying to pick up or more frequently when you needed to place something onto or with another object. And to be honest, we hate saying ANYTHING negative against Eipix since they are our favorite dev team but we wasn’t much of a fan of the "guess the object" clues. It’s the first time I’d ever seen this in an Eipix game. Also, we don’t know if others experienced the same thing but we had lots of trouble with dialogue cutting out on us. It happened mostly when we returned to the game after a break. I’d have to close the game and reopen it from the icon. We thought it was our "old" iPad 3r but we just switched to a Pro and had the same issues. We’re so sorry to the guys at Eipix for giving such an "eh" review. This was a shocking first for us for sure! Hey guys, have you thought of trying out something comical? That’s one thing this genre is sorely lacking!

Good story, nice graphics and lots of extras. Definitely worth $3.99!!!

Kept us busy while playing. It was fun.

So many of these games lately need you to constantly go back again and again over the same territory to find one object at a time. We find the toolbar and puzzles better than the last game we tried and deleted. Like this one so far!

There is a good storyline in this game. But the glitches keep it from being a great game.

We would give this 5 ‘s but it was difficult at times to pick things up or connect thing during the game and during HOP’s. You would be clicking on the correct spot but it will give you an xxxxx. So that is our only problem.

Kept our interest, sometimes this is had to do. Looking forward to the next one.

The graphics are not up to par. We thought we would like it because of the video and the early positive reviews. We are not happy with this one. It seems like an older game. The graphics were hard on our older eyes. We are not happy with BFG doing away with the Try It First option.

Just started and holds our interest.

Personally, we don’t see how anyone can give this game 5 stars. The puzzles made no sense, for the HOS, we had to tap, tap and tap again. It was alright but definitely not one of your better ones BF.

Things were going well and we were enjoying the game until we got stuck at the Eastmire Close gate. We found the wires, plugged them in, but then didn’t finish the mini-game right away. Usually our gameplay is saved in other games, but in this case when we came back, the wires disappeared and there was no way to retrieve them from the phone any longer. We tried several times to restart the game, but no luck. Frustrating! Looks like the only option is to restart. Please fix this bug! Would like to have given a higher rating.

This is tedious. Gamers need their trials since a lot of these games are hit or miss. At least list the production designers for these non-trial games! > There are a couple that we refuse to ever purchase games from again (Blue Tea is one of them). >And, there are some designers that we would immediately purchase from regardless of a trial (Artifex Mundi)

We’re going to scream bloody… Well, anyway. We wish there were different phrases in the most difficult mode. Even if it was just "…", we would be fangful. Okay, so the game didn’t bite too badly. The extremely frustrating aspects included the difficulties clicking on objects, some loss in sound, and some lack in logic. We about went batty trying to get an object to interact where we knew it must belong. The main silver lining was the very long gameplay on hardest mode, which we greatly appreciated. The scenery was also diverse and beautiful. But, the lack of difference between human and vampire modes and the humor associated with the hunter’s unanticipated condition was like a stake to the heart in terms of storyline. The extra gameplay was long, but it was coffin up a weird tale, in relation to the main story. If an old vampire is that stupid, just resting on his laurels (refer to Simon’s Quest) while you attack, then we’re surprised any vampire is a threat. And, your so-called partner acted more than a bit drained in mental faculty (if not erythrocytes).

We always enjoy games by EIPIX, but frankly this game just bored us thoroughly. Maybe we’re just not into the whole vampire thing. Truthfully, the graphics were great, if a bit dark and the cut-scenes done well. There was a marked teleport map, plus items ( which we love) and labeled inventory. You got to use the vial of life and a spell book. Only collectibles were black roses and pumpkins and morphing objects only during HO scenes. We were bored by the HO scenes, although there were some variations. The puzzles were not that exciting to us either. The game wasn’t all that long, although it did have a bonus adventure. We didn’t think the flow of the game was smooth. Especially when you don’t have a journal, and must go into the menu to access the map and objectives, which at least they updated regularly. Also no back button, so we kept accidentally going back to a prior location and also kept opening the strategy guide because the guide button was in the way. If they give us a sequel it would be nice to have a gorgeous rather than dark one. Also would be nice to have a journal with objectives, and a map tab within the game for better flow! Sorry, EIPIX! You are still one of our favorite developers but we guess vampires and death is just not our cup of tea! Notice that we’re not even discussing RATS! And we always do, so you know we must have been bored! A big shout-out to the Dream Team Elite! Kim, your review was fantastic. You picked up on a lot of the same negatives that we did! Here’s hoping we get some more quality games soon. We haven’t enjoyed the last couple, and we really hope we are not getting burned out on gaming! Just give us another Empress or something new from Sunward and we think we’ll be happy again! Lynxie sends to the team and the other gamers who trust our reviews! PS. Snooper, where are you? We miss you!

*Update: upon playing this game again, it wasnt as bad as we thought at first. It was enjoyable. Of course, game standards have fallen drastically during the past five years, so thats probably why it seems better now. We would have upped our rating to 4 stars, but we encountered a glitch in the extras menu. We had finished the entire game + bonus, and we were going through the hops to get gold trophies and missed morphing objects, when suddenly the game reset itself and deleted our profile! Now if we want to get the hop trophies we would have to re-play the entire game! No thanks! We’re sorry Eipix, we usually love your games, but this one was just tedious. Very linear game play, don’t need the map at all. The story could be good, but it is so poorly done. Just snippets of dialog here and there, not really a "story." Also, the stupid vial of light. You just tap on sparkly areas in the fog, then pick out shapes. Borrring. Now for the tapping issues. Where you tap is not always where the game thinks you are. In one scene, when trying to find the black rose, we had tapped on what we thought was it, many times. So, to find it we had to just tap tap tap from edge to edge, moving up in tiny increments. And where was it? Right where we thought it was in the first place! Also, we like to play on the hardest level, but with this one we couldn’t bc when we clicked on an object that showed an interaction could be done, turns out it wasn’t THAT object at all, but the one next to it. Which of course did not show that an interaction was possible. And lastly, since NO FREE TRIAL, we bought the stupid game. If we had tried it, we would not have done so. Is that what bf is coming to? Crappy games that they know you won’t buy if you get a trial, so no free trial anymore?

Gameplay lags, storyline is boring, graphics are dark. Just doesn’t hold our interest.

UPDATE: we had a fatal flaw in the game where we closed out of a puzzle in which we had to apply wires to a gate to initiate it. The next day, the wires for the gate were missing in both the puzzle and the inventory; and the location where we acquired them shows that we already closed out the area. Now we have to delete and reinstall. Total waste of time. Deducting 2 stars for this unacceptable circumstance. Warning! This game is not for the squeamish. You will see blood, bats, spiders, coffins, etc. You are a vampire hunter; and together with your partner, Simon, you travel to Louisiana to pursue a vampire, Benjamin Brooks. The graphics were clear and a little faded with many shades of red and purple, which help to achieve an ominous atmosphere appropriate for a vampire thriller. Most of the setting takes place during the evening sunset hours or at night. We liked how you travel to different locations as you progress so you get a "movie" effect instead of just poking around the usual mansion or alleyways. The music adds elements of mystery and suspense when suited. This game includes interactive game mechanics, such as making potions and performing spells and rituals. They keep the game mentally engaging. Early in, you acquire a vampire journal, which, at times, you can open only when you are creating potions or removing spells or curses. Sometimes a mini game will initiate to open this journal, such as choosing separate patterns to create a complete symbol. There are 3 modes of difficulty with no option to customize settings. The map allows transport to locations; available actions and objectives, if applicable; and has labeled location names. You need to tap on a location once to view the location label; tap again to transport. The inventory is labeled and does require assembly. The HOS are varied and interactive. One example is when you start out with a word list ending with a riddle; then another HOS initiates as "find the item by picture", ending with another riddle and putting an item together. You can opt to play a bubble shooter game instead. The puzzles are interesting. Some are short and simple, such as using a magnifying glass to find a room number in a book. Others give you a chain of multiple, separate mini puzzles; and when you complete one, the camera pans to the next one. We found them to be a lot of fun. You are collecting 43 black roses in the locations – you may have to interact to find them, 14 pumpkins – easy to spot, and morphing objects in the HOS. The extras are the usual offerings, with the addition of a souvenir box and a bubble shooter game. We did not like several aspects, including the following: 1. We dislike having to go through the menu to access the map and objectives (book style) since this is an unnecessary step and disrupts gameplay. 2. There is no option to customize so we have to deal with sparkles and HOS mistap penalties. 3. Again, another game with no "back" button so we are taken back a screen. 4. There is no journal except for the objectives stored in the form of a book. Maybe in this game it depends on what difficulty level you are playing? 5. One idea that we think the developers could have improved on was to let us figure out who the vampire is instead of directly pursuing an identified individual, which would have added some mystery and suspense. That is just our idea we guess. Overall, the game is still far better than the last one; and even with the aforementioned issues, we feel the game had many interactive elements and held our interest in many ways, which is why we gave it four stars.

We agree with Cadams below, same thing happened to us. We were in the mini game with the wires, but didn’t finish and now we can’t get the wires back from the phone in Sheriff’s office. We have to start all over again. This really needs a fix please.

But must press repeatedly to get anything to happen.

Glad we only spent $3.99. This game must have been developed by a 5th grader. So lame and non-sensical. Save your $$$!!

Greetings, Gamers: our first review wasn’t posted – that should tell you something there. We’ve become increasingly disillusioned with Big Fish and their games – and we don’t mean the ones put out by Mad Head, Eipix and other developers. Seems we now have to buy in order to play at all. That’s a disturbing trend that seems here to stay. This also means you can’t even read the iPad reviews unless you pay. Ponying up cash just to read reviews? So the price is adjusted accordingly? I’d rather pay $4.99 for a trial run than $3.99 just to find we’ve been hornswoggled. Too bad we have to give this game only one star to reflect our feelings toward Big Fish – if given their own separate category for job performance, they’d get zero stars – and owe their customers apologies and refunds. Let’s see if this review gets posted. Highly doubtful that BF can take the criticism from a long-standing, loyal customer. If it does get posted, it’ll be buried. Until next time, fellow gamers, (and don’t hold your breath, we’re certainly not) May the non-swizzing stars light your way,
