It was fun until we have pay 7$ for this game to procceed.

Lets you play the game, but then makes you pay or you can no longer play.

It is a really fun game and our favorite part is when we saw the bad guy threw the window but thank you for makeing this game.

Wonderful game… Buying the full version.

Some of the puzzles are difficult. We untangled the ropes but it wasnt recognized so we had to hit skip. This also happened in the boiler room, we guessed every combination of three numbers and we finally had to skip it. The music is awful. The musics been awful in the past few games. Patti Gaul.

This game is average at best. Nothing special or unique and its definitely too short for the price!

Story line was good. So was the overall gameplay. The HOS got a bit repetitive. We liked that we could play our own music. 3.5 stars.

Entertained throughout. Recommend.

Loved the noir genre! Hoping for more like this!

Not a bad little game, storyline and gameplay were good. The mini games were lame however and we ended up choosing to skip most of them.

But we really wish it was longer. We finished the main story in an hour. Also, we personally dont like the math-based mini games. Im horrible with math, as Im sure a lot of people are, and it takes the fun out of the game to be honest. Other than the length and the frustrating mini games, we liked it. Not this developers best game, but it wasnt bad.

The game is fun so far but theres been a couple oddities. A misspelling, a crap hand that wins a poker game, odd phrases. Little things that break immersion.

We’ve come to trust Artifex Mundi for fun storylines and puzzles as well as hidden object gaming. But this game in particular is so boring and dull. The dialogue is horribly written. Its way too guided in that theres no puzzle aspect. You only really have one thing you can do at a time so theres no thinking involved and its been ultimately boring and unimaginative gameplay.

While the puzzles are fun and challenging the game is overtly sexist and racist. Zero characters are people of color and only two women out of the many people you interact with (there is one other woman but she is dead). Also WAY too short. We expect several hours of game play, at least, if we’re spending $7.00 and we completed the whole thing in less then four. And that was on the hard level. No choice in who you play and game ends with a very anti-climactic kill.

Got 5 stars room for 6. Best of All Time. Played by 86 year old gamer.

Although this game was on the expensive side, it was extremely enjoyable to play! Brave Giant gave us a crime storyline, and one played as the protagonist, Detective Fox. You could customize settings. There was no cohesive journal but objectives were regularly updated, and you learned the actual story by finding symbols in books. The graphics captured the ambience of the underbelly of an urban city. Inventory was labeled and interactive and there were complex items to assemble. There was an excellent teleport map to transport you instantaneously between locations. At each location you must find different types of prints. The tasks were interesting to complete. The HO scenes had some variety, but most were word lists. The puzzles/games were on the simplistic side, but they were nevertheless fun and entertaining to play, and we didnt skip any, which is what we tend to do when we get bored. The storyline was easy to follow and the game flowed well. The quality assurance of this developer is excellent. There was a short bonus adventure included. Our quibbles were that for the price, it wasnt a lengthy game. In addition, it was quite linear and we find it more exciting when it isnt a linear game. However we enjoyed it immensely and would definitely replay it. We preferred it to many of BigFishs recent offerings! We wish Artifex Mundi would distribute more games; one per month is not enough. Happy gaming, everyone! If you are on the fence as to whether to purchase the game, we say go for it because you wont be sorry.

When a gifted developer instills a stylistic Film-Noir edge into an intriguing murder mystery, along with compelling characters and entertaining gameplay, what’s the result? An extraordinary and attention-grabbing experience! What we love about this game is the sense of realism just a true-to-life, sometimes gritty, portrayal of an investigation of a crime. You won’t be haunted by ghosts; you won’t be transported to fantastical worlds to save a loved one; and you won’t have to prepare a healing potion. Our Protagonist, Private Detective Fox, lives up to his "catchy" name he is quite the "fox"! He looks and acts the Film-Noir role well, as we see him in an occasional third-person point of view. His sleek appearance long overcoat, suit and tie, top hat and often tough-boy attitude elevate his presence. And the murder of his ex-girlfriend, "purrty" Ms. Le Purr, who had the "cattitude" of a deva, causes him more trouble than he expected. The atmosphere evinces a suspenseful and apprehensive vibe, as you, Private Fox, visit realistically rendered places in which you collect clues and evidence to further your investigation, as well as thwart the onslaught of the antagonists who are obstructing your efforts. Some of the settings give a raw and seedy ambiance, such as the rough-and-tumble bar. The beat-up-looking bartender, as well as the shady man asking you for money in exchange for access to a room, appropriately fit the Film-Noir stereotype. You can customize your settings. The inventory is labeled and interactive; items require assembly. In custom mode, the teleport map facilitates brisk travel to labeled locations and indicates available actions. Transition between scenes is smooth and quick; no glitches to report. The varied HOSs are thematic and complement the Film-Noir style. For example, the story-book fashion is narrated by Private Fox himself a distinct trait of Film Noir as he details pieces of his personal backstory. We’re happy that this developer has finally incorporated puzzle-like elements within their HOSs. Although simple, the puzzles are creatively executed to suit the storyline’s objectives. We love the one in which you are interrogated while hooked up to the lie detector test. The collectibles are well camouflaged within the background. We came across a few trivial gripes: Firstly, the shade part to the Hint button is too high, causing us to accidentally tap on it more than once. Secondly, the accents of the characters sound English, but the settings do little to demonstrate proof that the story takes place in England. Thirdly, the collectibles are hidden in plain sight; a little concealment would have effectuated more challenge. In closing, this game is, by far, along with "Tiny Tales," one of our favorite games from Brave Giants. This developer has tremendous talent in creating well-rounded productions that draw us into the storyline and the environment, thus resulting in an emotional connection to some of the characters. The length of this game is longer than most of their other games; and a bonus chapter, though brief, is included this time. All in all, this is our favorite game in quite a while.

Absolutely outstanding & Very Well Done. Storyline is fascinating and suspenseful. Beautiful graphics with realistic characters and voiceovers. Hidden object scenes are interactive and puzzles are of a unique variety! Collectible to find in each scene. Teleporting map provided. This game is so well done and does not disappoint. Highly recommend and is well worth the purchase price. Slight discount for early purchase. Fellow gamers – You won’t want to let this one slip buy! Thought provoking – Play & Enjoy! Love Artifex and their unique style of games. Very impressed with this developers style and attention to detail! Thank You for the Great Enjoyment. Looking so forward to more of the same. Happy Gaming Everyone KdBoots.

We rarely write reviews, but after spending $5.99 (sale price), we really expected it to take longer than a few hours. We appreciate the bonus game, but even with it the game was short. That being said, we loved that it was normal human nature rather than fantasy. Definitely a change of pace.

Not sure what makes this game 17+ but it sure aint the puzzles! They are literally something a 8 or 9 year old could solve. We also had TONS of glitches with untangling the ropes. Anytime we tried to tap them at the top or bottom of the screen it wouldnt register & instead opened up another screen on our phone. They were just stuck there. After repeatedly being taken out of the game & going back in having to hit continue we gave up & skipped the puzzle. The voice acting & we accents are real bad, over the top English accents. It was also like a bad community theater production of our Fair Lady-there was nothing Philip Marlowe noir about this game. We generally like Artifex Mundi & used to specifically look for their games so Im not sure what happened here. Im super disappointed in this one and for $6.99 we expected much more.
