App implementation of the popular board game.

You’re living the dream. You’re in a band and they’re about to go on tour. It’s your job to schedule the band’s stops over your 100-day tour, visiting as many states as possible.

Each turn in On Tour, two ten-sided dice are rolled to make two two-digit numbers. For example, a roll of 3 and 7 creates the numbers 37 and 73. All players write each of those numbers in a state on their map. The regions they can write in are restricted by three cards turned up in the middle of the table.

At the end of the game, each player draws a route on their map, starting with a low number and visiting adjacent states with higher and higher numbers. Players get a point for every state they visit.

There are also some bonus points available, a way to get wilds, and a variable set-up step that makes every game different.

On Tour Board Game Reviews

This is a solid implementation of a great roll and write game. We’ve spent many hours with it. We would really like it if it would to allow us to listen to music or podcasts while Im playing, though. That would get it 5 stars.

This game is pointless; tutorial is lacking. We read it, then randomly tapped on circles for a few minutes until finally getting a score that we have no point of comparison to. We guess its supposed to a some sort of strategic route taking game maybe or a press your luck but we honestly couldnt figure out what it was trying to do. Deleted.

What is this? Im pretty sure whoever made this app has never made an app before.

We played the original board game and Im so happy its come out with a version for phones! Its a great strategy game, now Im looking forward to future updates with multiplayer mode!

We love this game-I play the roll and write solo as the mood strikes. But having it as an app will make it even easier to get more plays in!

Great version of the game. It needs to allow you to listen to music while playing though.

This is a great visual implementation of the board game. It looks great and has a simple intuitive interface. We would love to see multi-player functionality built out so you can play with friends. However, we can still see myself enjoying this as is.

Let us get this straight. An app about a BAND going on a tour of the country has absolutely no music and no sound. Way to immerse us into the theme.

Really hard how to figure out the rules to this game. Almost unplayable given the tutorial is useless.

The tutorial is useless. Cant even figure out how to get started on this game.

Quite a nice implementation of the board game. However in our first game, it gave us duplicate rolls on two different occasions. If we recall, this is not supposed to happen. So the good game we had going was ruined because it made us place 45 and 54, even though we already had those numbers on the board. Otherwise, like someone else said, it would be fun to plot your own route at the end instead of having it done automatically. It feels kind of cheesy when the CPU finds one worth more points than you were planning.

We dont know if its just us but there are no sounds from the app. Our phone is not on silent, volume is all the way up, and the speakers work for other apps. There is no gear sign within the app to adjust settings for sound, and no settings menu so we dont think there is sound even though the game is about a band doing music concert tours? It seems like a missed opportunity. Like even indie artists would be interesting with a link to their album on the apple music store. There should be dice sounds and an option for dice animation/sound. No sound effects at all. This is definitely a weird app and it doesnt make us want to purchase the full version at all.

There are many UI controls and game situations that aren’t covered in the tutorial, and there is no actual rules section. Even if you have played the physical game there’s no parallel. Developers need to add a rules and controls choice in the menu.

Whenever we try to join a game, if the code has the letter J in it our phone changes it to an I, and because of this we cant play with our friends. This only happens in this application. Great game though!!

No sounds for simple stuff like dice roll or cards flipping. No dice or card flip animations. We know its a trivial thing, a minor gripe but we HATE silent apps. Digital board games should convey a sense of the physical board game. This one game fails in this regard. Im surpised the app shows dice at all. Very cheaply made. We like the GAME concept and if it ever goes on sale, Id get the physical game. Looks FAR more interesting to play than this digital simpleton. One thing this digital game should do at the end is to allow you to submit your chosen route, overlayed with the optimal route. They wont always be the same and would be interesting to see how close your chosen route matches with the optimal route. Oh well, glad we tried it but Ill probably never play this digital app again. Great GAME concept, poor/boring digital implementation.

Im deleting this game immediately. It made our iPhone 12 on iOS 14 super hot and drained the battery fast. No way should a simple roll and write game do this, the programming is obviously not optimized. We do not recommend buying this game. We wish we didnt waste the money. We will never buy from this developer again. Lesson learned.

So not ready for sale. Update: the app doesn’t even open any more. Good job guys! We read the in-game Tutorial. Now someone please teach us to play. Having played hundreds of other board games including Welcome To and Twilight Struggle doesn’t help make this make sense from the tutorial. There is NO sound even when dice are supposedly rolled. Even with the latest updates, it’s still single-player. Needing codes to join a multiplayer game? What is this, 1995? Let us know when you have added real multiplayer options. Nice try at an app. Now finish it. Needs many updates, not small tweaks like linking to Kickstarter.

Couldnt justify it without multiplayer, but now Im fired up to play with friends and family across the country!

This is a great implementation of the board game, but the multiplayer needs some work. Specifically, the on-screen keyboard covers up the entry field. By itself this wouldnt be a big issue, but the cursor jumps around in the entry field, so that the characters are filled in the order 1-3-4-2-7-5-8-6 instead of the expected sequential order.

We hear no sound at all on this game…. Am we missing something?
