A Glimpse into Paint It Back – GameClub

Paint It Back takes a staple of classic puzzle books and gives it a humorous twist. An incident at an art museum wipes out all of its masterpieces just before it’s about to have its grand opening. There’s no time to bring in an expert. Whoever is on-hand that can fix them has to step up, and that ‘whoever’ is… you!

Yes, it falls to you to paint back each and every lost piece of art, square by square in a picture crossword. Luckily, you’re not entirely on your own. Not only do you have the extremely helpful title of each piece to guide you, you’ll also be given all of the clues you need to decide which squares should be painted and which should be left alone. Apply a little logic and paint and the museum will be ready to go in no time.

The works range from tiny 5 x 5 grids all the way up to gargantuan 40 x 36 monsters. A total of 150 puzzles are grouped into 15 different galleries, each with its own unique theme. Multiple difficulty levels allow even a learning player to tackle the larger works. With intuitive touch-to-paint controls, anyone can become a master artist with just one finger. Finished all the puzzles? Challenge the Mystery Masterpiece mode and see how far you can get with a bare minimum of clues.

Classic Puzzles: Use the clues and a bit of logical deduction to decide which squares to paint and which to leave blank!

Restore the Art: With little more than an assortment of bizarre titles to go on, you have to paint back an entire museum full of lost works!

Piles of Paintings: With 15 different themed galleries and 150 puzzles, your artistic duties won’t be finished anytime soon!

Multiple Sizes: Got a few minutes to spare? Try out a 5 x 5 puzzle. Got a few hours? Grid sizes go up to 40 x 36 squares!

Mystery Masterpiece Mode: Can’t decide on a puzzle? Take the Mystery Masterpiece mode for a spin and see if you can paint back a randomly-selected picture!

We played this game a long time ago and remember it being pretty fun, so we downloaded it again. We proceeded to play a tutorial level and one other level. Once that is complete, the only way to move on is to pay for a subscription! We could understand a one time payment of a couple dollars, but the subscription jumps to $5 DOLLARS A MONTH. Thats what you pay for streaming services, not a silly little game. That is just absurd.

You have to pay to play anymore than 2 levels.

It’s just a minor nitpick of ours, but the Sound is WAY too quiet and gets lost in the music.

We were watching the cutscene, when suddenly… We saw Francois’s pupils missing when he does that smug face. That was a animation error ya got here.

We remember beating this a few years back. We figured since it costs for a subscription now there would be more art galleries to paint. Hopefully they will start adding more soon. There is only so many times you can complete the same paintings. Good game nonetheless though!

We played this game over and over. We were so disappointed when we couldnt get it on our new phone! But now its back and subscription-only. Thats right, subscription. Its not $5, its $5 every month! For access to this, and various other games which we dont care about. Such a shameless money-grab! Subscriptions make sense for e.g. MMORPGs, where theres an actual need to pay for servers on an ongoing basis. For anything else, theyre just blatant greed. They dont care about players, they just want cash cows!

This game used to be great, you could play 4 of the rooms and then you had to pay to play more. Now, you can play 2 rooms with only very easy levels and then you have to pay game club $4.99 a month if you want to play more. Why do we need to subscribe when we can play for free on other apps?? We would pay a one time payment if we could play all levels but Im not subscribing.

We purchased this app before we did a software update on our iPhone. After the update, we could no longer open the app. It would only give us an error message that the developer would need to update the game to be compatible with the iPhone updated system. We contacted the developer via email and telephone, but never received a response. Im so upset! Do not purchase this app!

We signed up for GameClub so that we could play this game. Its telling us that we have not signed up so we cannot play. Im disgusted that this company just wants money & then wont even let us play the game. Do better.

Congratulations on ruining a game! Used to be one of our favorites but so disappointed that Ill have to delete it because the developers are greedy pigs.

Remember when you paid for a game and got to keep it? Bought a new phone, it wouldnt let us keep the version we had downloaded years ago. Was mighty disappointed, this was one of our go tos. Decided to look on the App Store, and there it was. JOY!! So we downloaded it, and started it all over again. Then after we finished the first 2 levels it wont let us play unless we pay a monthly subscription? And monkeys might fly out of tookus!

From a one-time purchase to a subscription, complete with intrusive and obnoxious advertising bleh.

Like others have said, we purchased the original title which was removed from the App Store in favor of this version. We’ve reached out via Gameclubs website and via email to try and see if we could have our access restored as they recommend, but after several weeks without a reply, we dont have any hope of receiving one anymore. We’ve no interest in the other games, and no interest in paying 5 bucks a month for a game we’ve already purchased.

As much as it pains us to give a 1 star review to this beloved game we’ve been forced to. 5 dollars a month to play this and it only lets you get up to the second room without paying. Used to love this game but the subscription ruined it. Pro tip: not every goddamn thing needs a monthly subscription.

Thanks now its 60$ a year once was free oh how the mighty have fallen.

Really – $4.99 a month? We would be glad to pay 5 or 6 dollars as a one-time price but no way am we paying a monthly fee. This is very disappointing. We played this game a lot on our iPhone six plus but recently we replaced it. When we first looked for this game on the new phone, it had not been updated for the latest operating system. Im glad its been updated, but really disappointed at the greed. Its a shame because the pictures are very imaginative and it was fun to play. We deleted it from our phone.

Used to play this fun game on our old iPad but it stopped working on our iPad so we downloaded it on our phone. So disappointed that we have to reach out about restoring our purchases and that the game was touched by a subscription at all. Its not the same game because half of it is ads for the subscription. Also the sounds are bugged as they doesnt play at all.

We used to play this game all the time when we were real young, a nice puzzling time killer for when Im watching a movie we dont like or at our brothers football game. Once it was taken off the app store, we were pretty disappointed, but now that its back Im pretty happy! Especially since we got the full game back after we first bought it back then! Now we do think the membership is a bit ridiculous… We think there should be a single price for this game, like 4.99 for the whole game rather than get the membership for more games that we dont play. Just our thoughts, the game is okay but for some reason it seems to be missing some sound effects… But it could be a purposefully made change.

We had this game years ago and completed every painting and all the bonus paintings and the extra gallery as well. Re downloaded it to play again and it wants us to pay a monthly membership fee to play. Thats ridiculous.

We love this game but its hard to play we have an xr and sometimes the puzzles dont fit in the screen making it hard to fill in, other then the glitches it great.

This was one of our favorite games on the iPad. Customer service was quick and friendly as we had our purchase restored after it was removed and put behind the subscription paywall. Thats the reason for the 2 stars instead of one. One upon a time we paid for the full game and to have the ads removed, but now they are back in force. We get constant ads for the game subscription service, which is extremely annoying and removes the zen-like pleasure of playing these types of puzzle games. We dont think you know your audience very well for this game if you think they want to pay to constantly jump other games. If you want to make more money with this, release more levels and offer a one time purchase to unlock them. Good luck competing with Apple Arcade. We will be uninstalling this as it is no longer enjoyable.

Seemed like fun at first… The controls and art style are great, but its ruined by a moronic subscription. The only way to continue playing the game is with a $5 a month subscription. The subscription gives you access to other games, but we only care about this one. What are you devs doing?? We would have happily paid for just this game if it was an option.

Bought this years ago, decided to dig and find this game because we were almost done completing the whole thing. Well now it asks us to pay monthly to continue.. Not into that. Was a great game but not worth it.

We downloaded this game on our Samsung and went through all the rooms and had a blast doing so. We wanted to play on our iPad (bigger screen) and now we can only play two rooms because theres a subscription fee. This is bull. No thanks.

We LOVED this app about a year ago, we just put it back on our phone, and it said that we had to join this weird thing that it had no interest it joining, and we couldnt play the game with out logging into it, and we were extremely disappointed.

Its a fun little game. We bought it years ago, and when we were itching to play it again, the developer unlocked our purchase. That was really great of them. In our opinion, its worth throwing in a few bucks to play.

Anything past the tutorial is under a $5 per month subscription? A nonogram puzzle game? Just play some other nonogram app.

We like this game, but it is really disappointing that we can only play 2 rooms. Can you make all levels free to play? Please?

Developers of this game are so greedy that it makes them lose even more money by sacrificing their already small fan base thinking that they will make more money. So dissapointed we really loved this game but not anymore, hope we could give it 0 stars.

We were a HUGE fan of this app. We bought it a few years back and beat the whole game, as well as the extra levels several times and always kept the app on our phone. Today we went to open the app and we were told that we could not anymore because this app was no longer on the app store. We redownloded it and two rooms in was told that we were unable to continue without paying $5 a month. We were extremely disappointed and tried to contact support but they said they were unable to find our account. We are sincerely disappointed. Zero stars if we could.

This game was fun and soothing. Will not pay every month to get it back.

A good friend of ours showed this to us and we got a good bit of mileage out of it a few years back. We used to LOVE this game. We saw an ad for this today, and decided to re-download it. Now, the game is no longer free. You need to pay 5 dollars a month to get access this and a bunch of other games… Which is a terrible business practice. We want to play THIS game. We have no interest in other games provided in this service. If this were some new standalone game made just for this service we would have not cared. But that isnt the case. This service turned a completely free game with optional IAPs into a game that appears free- but costs 5 dollars a MONTH to have access to. We dont think we would mind paying a flat fee of 5 dollars or so for access to just this game, but we dont have that option. These developers are holding this game for ransom, a game that once costed nothing now requires 60 dollars a year to have continued access to. Im incredibly unhappy with this turn this game has taken, and we hope it either becomes free once more, or there is an option to pay for maybe certain game for a flat fee rather than having to pay 5 dollars a month for it.

We used to love this game so we downloaded it again and now theres some annoying subscription that you must buy to play the harder rooms (that arent even hard since only 2 rooms are available for free). We never write app reviews but this just made us so angry. We used to play this all the time but we guess now we will not be playing again. No one wants to buy the stupid subscription.

Since when is the new game club a thing? It deleted all our progress too? We used to love this game but it kinda got ruined by the game club thing.

We guess all games we buy wont carry over…
