Description

Paper Tales is a simultaneous drafting card game. Each turn, players draft five units that they then recruit into their kingdom — assuming that they can pay. These choices determine the players ability to shine in battle, generate great income, construct dominant buildings, and earn legend points. There are only four hiring positions available during the four rounds of the play, but your units grow older with each turn until time takes them away.

Build a comprehensive strategy and adapt the shape of your realm according to opportunities and restrictions and you will make history!

Paper Tales – Catch up Games Reviews

This is the biggest missing feature for us. We need to know which buildings to target without memorizing it.

First of all, thank you, developer, for making this in portrait mode! We used to have a similar game but it was landscape, and we just dont like playing landscape, so we deleted it. Portrait is easier to hold. So thank you! Also thank you for a fair premium price with no ads. The file size is also small and the app is good on battery. The game also looks nice. You did everything right here. For those saying they had a hard time figuring out the mechanics, we found a really good video online of a reviewer doing a play-through with the app. If you watch that, and then play a game or two, youll know what to do. We lost our first game, barely, and then won our next game, barely. That means the app is balanced. Very good job developer! The only thing we think that could be clearer is the fact that you have to discard the rest of your cards before you deploy, and at first we wasnt sure what to do because it wasnt clear to us how to discard them and that we had to drag them all to discard one by one. But we figured it out. Very well done. We highly recommend this enjoyable strategy game that is challenging without being too hard or frustrating. Thank you!

We really enjoy Paper Tales as a game, but the app is extremely underdeveloped. Tutorial is completely barebones and isnt sufficient for a new player to learn the game, you cant see the available buildings until the building phase, etc. Needed way more testing and development before they started accepting money from people.

This app probably works fine for people who already know how to play the game. As someone who has never played Paper Tales but has played hundreds of board games in physical and digital implementations, this app needs a lot of work. The tutorial is a slide show that doesnt explain how to do things or the user interface. The player information bar floats over your draft picks so you cant see what youve already taken. There is no in app feedback on why something isnt working. We think Im going to ask for a refund on this. It looks pretty and we think if you know the game it might work for you. It doesnt work for us.

Tutorial is a joke. No rulebok. Not intuitive. Makes no sense. Trying to learn by playing, but nothing is explained, its a huge waste. And its not like we havent played 1000 different strategy board and card games before or 100s of board game apps. In the deployment phase in Age 2, we deployed cards that we can afford and the green checkmark doesnt enable. We tried different combinations of cards, nothing. No direction from the app as to what Im doing wrong, it just sits in this state expecting us to do something, assuming we know and understand the rules, but the app never taught us the game. Not sure if the app has bugs or we dont understand the rules. We suppose we could seek out the rules online, but we shouldnt have to. Horrible. Zero stars.
