Find out what gamers are saying about Phantasmat: The Dread of Oakville – A Mystery Hidden Object Game (Full):

We love how this game makes you use your brain and think! A lot of fun.

Great story, good mini games. Long game.

So far so good. Great puzzles, hops, map, graphics. Very enjoyable. Worth the price.

Before we purchase a game, we always read what the gamers have to say. This is a 5 Star game so we have to thank all of you. Key West Jessa.

Now this is how a game is supposed to be!

This is probably the best game we have played on Big Fish, please carry more games like this one!

This is one of those ‘can’t stop until you’re finished’ type of games!!! The Dev’s when above and beyond most of the games that we play @ BF! It’s awesome, you’ll love it… Seriously!!!

We enjoyed playing this, but it’s definitely on the gruesome side. The artwork was nice and there is a good transporting map which shows current tasks. The puzzles are ok, but nothing too hard, and hops, also option to play match 3.

Yes, fantastic. Read the rest of the reviews. They backup our five stars!!!

When we saw that this game was developed by Eipix, we were so excited! As always, the graphics are awesome, the story line is interesting, and the HOPs and mini-games are fun! It’s everything we want in a game! Thank you Eipix!

We love this game!! Everything about it was great!! Can’t wait for part 2!!

No glitches, pretty long gameplay. Im getting pretty bored of the horror-themed games from big fish though!

This is an Eipix game and the quality shows. Long gameplay (refreshing after the last few) and like the others in the series (each a stand alone separate story) it is very well done. You are trapped in a town where missing posters are everywhere yet the people pop up in front of you…. And disappear. Something evil was unleashed and you need to figure it out. Mini games are not insane, HOG are varied, transporting map.. Wish it had a diary and no big fish pop ups though . Unsure if any vermin but bats and spiders so far. Verdict: play and enjoy this one is actually worth the price.

We’re kinda liking this Oakville game it’s interesting and kinda scary too, we think it’s worth playing this game.

Eipix keeps on delivering the goods! Excellent game in all areas. Eipix gives good game play length for your money. If you’re waiting for us to say something bad about the game — don’t. It’s all good!

Only 4 stars because you cannot customize the Hint and Skip refresh rate. Otherwise, an excellent game!

Based on the amazing KimTwilight, we are playing this game out of boredom. Don’t even bother with the Twin Candles game by G5! Pricy, no map, long loading between locations, tons of word list HOS, and can’t choose expert mode! Please welcome Izzyoc to our team. He or she has made us aware of a bunch of upcoming games from BigFish that SHOULD be blockbusters, as well as being a good reviewer. We need people like this on the DTE if we want to keep getting great games. We will get back to you with our review! Also bear in mind we have at long last a new 1000 Doors! On to the game. It was very good but we are telling you, EIPIX, don’t rest on your laurels just yet, because we are not going to give you a full 5 stars! You need to start giving us a useful journal or diary, because we could not explain the storyline if we tried. Also, although objectives were regularly updated, the task list should not have been inconveniently located in the menu; we should have had a task listed on a useful tab in the game. There were 3 levels of difficulty from which to choose, but no left-handed mode. Loading was close to instantaneous between locations. There was an excellent teleport map marked (if so chosen) to get you to any of the many locations throughout the game, and at least there was a map tab so you do not have to exit the game. In each one you must collect a morphing object. Inventory was labeled and there were plus items to assemble. The HO scenes were interesting and varied, and if you didn’t wish to do the HO scene, you could play Match-3 instead. The graphics were decent but not as crisp or sharp, or as beautiful as we would have liked. The cut-scenes were also a bit boring. This game was a decent length and had a bonus adventure, but we still found it a bit short. There was a nice variety of puzzles and games. Some were embedded within another puzzle, which is always a surprise that we enjoy! A lot were rotational and those we don’t love but we forced myself to do them anyway. It pays to sharpen your minds, everybody! The hint system was not a spoiler-type, and of course there was a strategy guide on the BigFish website. We found inventory placement a bit glitchy at times, but there were no fatal flaws or game crashes. All in all this was a good solid game, but there was nothing exceptional about it. We like gimmicks, like being given magical artifacts or amulets to use. We also love portals and potions! At least you were kind enough not to make us endure RATS! We would definitely play a sequel as we are a big fan of the series, but give us a longer game, with better graphics, and an in-game map and journal. We would like to be able to follow the story better. Lynxie sends lots of to the Dream Team Elite, and to our newest member, IZZYOC!

Phantasmat: Oakville is a different sort of game. Something happened to the city of Oakville in 1973. People began to disappear, but you see their ghosts all over town. You are trying to help three of them to escape, since your car was blocked by a landslide and can’t move. We did not miss having a journal, since there is lots of information in the objects you find. There are morphing objects to collect along the way. A few scenes were reminiscent of Night of the Living Dead, so it may be a bit too adult for little kids. The photo-realistic portrayals of characters were well done. We’re still early in the game, but we have enjoyed the challenges of the puzzles so far. The Transporting Map works directly with the Hint button to show the next active scene, which saves time. Since we found the storyline intriguing, we awarded four stars. Another great game from Eipix!

Liked the game and generally had a good time. Thought puzzles were mostly too easy. Wish there was a custom level of play. Hate having twinkles "clue" us when we prefer to search for items, locations, HOPs, etc. Loved that u can search for the rest of collectibles after the game, but there was no reward. We like having a room to decorate or an exclusive game to play as reward. Liked the souvenirs extra except the items were WAY too easy to find. Decent variety in the HOPs good job!

Great animation and fun puzzles. Transportation map works well. We just wish there was a left handed option for playing OR make the pop up boxes reduce by clicking outside the box and not have to touch the X on the right hand side of the pop up box to get back to the main page. Very tiresome for lefties.

So far, we have not seen any critters for those with phobias. The graphics are nice and clear with heavy emphasis on darker colors, such as blues, representing many nighttime scenes. The artwork is nicely detailed and hand drawn to portray a realistic environment as you traverse around the largely uninhabited, spooky town of Oakville. The haunting background noises, such as the falling rain, help us feel immersed within the surroundings. There are no customized settings; we have sparkles and tapping penalties in the second mode! Unacceptable! Also, depending on the mode of difficulty, you might not have tasks indicated on the teleport map. The inventory is labeled, interactive, and puzzle-like; items require assembly, and you will play some micro puzzles within it. The HOS are varied and fun; they include word lists with interaction and FROGS (find fragments of items to combine to complete a whole). Some have micro HOS embedded within as well. The puzzles are mostly simple. One type is to swap tiles to form a complete picture; then you slide theme related discs to their appropriate slot. You collect morphing objects in the locations; they are fairly easy to spot. You have the souvenir room as part of the extras. We gave this game three stars because of the following reasons: 1. No journal; you read limited acquired materials. 2. No customized settings; your forced to play with undesirable features. 3. Map will not indicate tasks in last two modes of difficulty. 4. No innovation or twists that add something unique to gameplay. We did not experience any glitches, and transition has been smooth. We guess it’s worth it if you have nothing else to play.

We didn’t even finish it. We just wasn’t compelled to. We think we are done with Big Fish games. They started off creepy enough to be fun and challenging enough to be worth the money spent. But things have gone downhill since and there’s no end in sight. We can’t bring myself to spend another penny on a HOG in this vein (and we have bought many). Oakville offers nothing new, has a ridiculous storyline, way too much back and forth, and yet again, objects being used in silly ways. Save your money and go buy a Telltale game instead.

Just a follow up review to join up with the review we posted on the "new release" version of this game. BigFish has been releasing 2-6month old games and presenting them as new. Many customers have complained about this within the review sections.. Since they are purchasing the same game twice due to deceptive business tactics.
