User Reviews on PuppetShow: Arrogance Effect

Puppet games are our favorite. Lots of challenging puzzles, awesome graphics, great story.

We love this just like all the others. We just replayed it. Its been more than a year now since any new Puppetshow series games have been released for iOS. Is this one the last new game in this seriesto be released for iOS. If there will be more iOS Puppetshow, now would be a great time to drop a new one finally. With all the social distancing and quarantines, it would be nice to get through all that while playing the game.

Just purchased this game after trying the demo, now we cant go any further. Im at a hidden object mini game trying to find cogs and lightning, the last object to find is not in the field of view on our IPad – cant see it, cant click on it, cant skip it and cant go any further in the game. Just wasted our money on this game.

Love Big Fish games but with the newer versions of iPhone without the home button these games are now extremely frustrating to play. When you try to grab an item from your inventory at the bottom of the screen the phone thinks you are swiping up to close the app. Maddeningly frustrating!!! Please fix this!

The storyline was week. Hard to connect some of the moving objects in the HOP. Cant tap on anything near the edges or bottom of the screen, if so, you have to keep re-entering. Very frustrating. Not enough areas to search through, have to keep hitting hints. Game not for filling enough to motivate us to try to figure it out. Very sorry we spent seven bucks on this game as it was not on sale!

. Cant even get past naming the doll. Says we have to use Latin letters???? We use English!

This game is so confusing. The hint has a rose instead of an arrow. It was very difficult to know where it is pointing. If you touch within an inch of the edge of the screen, you get booted off that screen. We finished the game and had to hunt for the bonus game. We finally Googled how to find the bonus game. We have played every one of the Puppet games and this one is disappointing. Not a good game!

We just finished playing demo and so far found only glitch is getting kicked out of HO if you get close to bottom. We bought because we found this game very entertaining, beautiful graphics and has a cute little puppet helper. Love the min games.. Makes you think. Our rating is 4 stars for now… Since Im just beginning this game. We finished this game… No glitches except for getting kicked out of HO if you get close to bottom of screen. Its a solid 4 Star game.

Certainly not up to the standards of the original several Puppetshow games. The map is almost completely inaccessible on iPhone 8. There seems to be a 1mm area of sensitivity to tap on the map. Extremely frustrating.

Crashes during play. Touchy when playing hidden objects youre drop out off that other screen. Fix these and play would be a lot more fun!

We had the same disappointments about the "SALE" of games that most of us have tried or purchased. The game itself we found refreshing in comparison to other Puppetshow games of late. In fact it got back to its roots with not as much gore. You have a puppet friend to help. There are twist and turns that are not reflected in the trial game. But the game is dated! It was short and not definitely worth $6.99. Our view is if interested purchase while on sale.

We cant understand why/how this game has such high stars. Yes puppet show series are great but this one just wore us down to where it was no longer enjoyable and we had to work for it. Graphics are good however they are a little dark and the items you need to find are very small which makes it frustrating to find them. The items that are shown as a shape to find on the HOP games well they are a little small which brings up the items on the found items. Very small and very hard to read numbers, I.e. 2 of 4. It became a guessing game. We were forced to quit AFTER we purchased. Was building the soldiers body and the item was way past the viewing screen on our iPad and we have a new iPad. We were unable to skip since there was no option. One last thing whats up with the hint Rose. Get rid of it. It seemed vague while it was shaking and floating we needed a hint button to tell us what the Rose hint was saying. This will be deleted off our iPad. Sorry Big Fish.

Crashed and went to our home screen 4 times on iOS. Right after we get the fire extinguisher to put out fire.

Buggy and lack of story to help guide what you need to do.

We have tried repeatedly to download and install this game. For 2 days! Even overnight! It will not download past the half mark. Puppet show is one of our favorite games so we were incredibly excited to play this. Excitement is gone, now Im frustrated and wont attempt this again. Very disappointed.

One of the rare games that we didn’t purchase. This can only be described as a mess. First, the interface was terrible. About 1/4 of the screen is used as the border, so you lose a huge amount of space. The controls are inexplicably miniscule, so they take up only about half of the border. Second, the controls are both finicky and clunky. It’s very easy to inadvertently click out of an HOP or mini game, but often very hard to get the game to recognize that you’ve selected something. Third, the hint system is near useless. The hint cursor is a rose that (when selected) aimlessly wanders around the general area where you’re supposed to do something. Fourth, there are inconsistencies throughout. We were sure we needed to use our doll on the cable car HOP, but the game kept saying the doll couldn’t help us. 3-4 items later, suddenly we could (and had to) use the doll. Finally, the mini games in the trial period were screwy, which is never a good sign. For example, the ball in the spiral maze was unresponsive, so that we had to skip it. AMAX Interactive seems to be a pinch hitter as we’ve seen them appear in half a dozen series but never more than once. We have yet to see a good game from them. Maybe others have had a different experience. Net: we don’t recommend at any price. P.S. Don’t waste time trying to erase the chalkboard. It’s a red herring, and an annoying one because all of the text comes back.

This game seems like a throwback. Theres a lot that just doesnt work for us. The games are ridiculously easy – a waste of time. The inventory list is very small – its hard to even see what you have. The touch screen areas are glitchy and we are constantly being thrown out of HOPs by touching too close to the bottom of tree screen. There are few closeups even of items you need to manipulate. We could go on. Dont. Waste your money!

We agree with many of the written reviews. We were so eager for a new game we purchased this one immediately–my silliness but the other puppet games have been mostly excellent, just creepy enough to be delightful. This one not so much. We were unable, unmotivated to play for very long, As Kim T writes so beautifully–in both rave and boo reviews–this one shouts dated. The immensity of the "things to carry" takes up almost 1/4 of screen on our Ipad, so we soon turned back to older games. The game just felt so heavy and plodding. The music and the graphics are lovely but the story, the puzzles, the general arc of the game seem ancient and logy. Verdict–save your $ and don’t buy. If you are desperate, like us, replay some of BF’s good old games, the ones that had it all. Please Big Fish, you know what we mean and you can see the purchase numbers when the games really hit it out of the ball park. We are a loyal BF fan, so thanks for the many wonderful games, but give us more of them with more consistency. And thanks to the many reviewers we have silently followed over the years!

Once again, we pad for a game before playing it. Negative 5 stars because: 1. Touch sensitivity issues. Almost impossible to play HOGs or to progress. The previous puppet game was removed and supposedly improved this issue, it is the same as before! 2. Annoying background music. 3. We could only find 1 hidden collectible (musical note). Graphics are very small and dark. 4. Boring storyline. 5. Very small buttons – map, collectible, etc. The only positive is a fast refresh rate – 5 seconds. Another $3.99 wasted!!!

Had a great time playing the game until the fire scene. Every time we try to use the fire extinguisher like other users it crashes. We have tried everything and can not pass. 5 stars until this issue. But please fix this!

As others have wrote this game has major issues. We cant get past the fire in the hotel room. Every time we get the fire extinguisher and try to put the fire out the game closes. We’ve tried restarting and even reinstalling it but we still have the same outcome. We also had problems in the hop. It is touch sensitive and closes even though we wasnt touching it anywhere near the bottom. We hope they fix the bugs because we think it would be a good game but not until then.

BF is "effecting arrogance" in pushing us deeper into hidden-object withdrawal by releasing this "box-office flop"! NOTE Based on the free trial only: After anxiously waiting a week for a new and exciting release due to the trending pattern of being denied a second game in a week any hopes we had were abruptly quashed, as it became transparent that I’d be waiting another few days until the next release. The short demo failed to impress us, and even out of sheer boredom, it couldn’t convince us that there might be something worthy enough to purchase the game and carry on. The storyline regurgitates the rehashed theme of……… Well, you know, saving a loved one from the usual evil whatever. The visuals and the production were the only highlights in the demo. The graphics are beautifully rendered, with finely sharp and clear details. We didn’t play long enough to discern how well the puppets were integrated into the storyline. The little helper, whom we named "Alice," by the way, was cute; however, we could tell that her reedy voice would eventually start getting on our nerves. To us, the gameplay is the most important part of a game. Unfortunately, in this free trial, the gameplay was the weakest part no originality, no stimulation, no mental challenge. Just…. So….. Boring. The HOSs were sorely lacking creative elements, comprising mostly mundane word lists. And, the puzzles? They are obviously geared towards juveniles; seriously, trace the path? See Jane run? We only found about two or three musical notes in the few scenes we explored, so we can’t remark about the collectibles. Transition was clunky and slow, as were the responses to our touch input, especially during both inventory application and access of interactive areas. Furthermore, when tapping around the lower areas within the HOSs, we were constantly taken out of the scene. Every aspect of this game screams "outdated!" we concluded from the free trial that this game had nothing going for it. This series keeps on worsening as it progresses, and hence the time to end the series for good. We rate this game two thumbs down, a round of "Boos!" and a walk-out. The final verdict, please: Delete!

Many things wrong with this game. It has a dated feel to it, and is incredibly short even with the bonus chapter. The touch sensitivity is awful and it is very frustrating to be kicked out of a HO for touching in the lower 1/3 of the screen. The story line is ridiculous and has been reused. This whole game is a mess. Not worth the price, even if it were free.

We cant make it past the first hotel scene in room 7 with the fire. Every time we go to use the fire extinguisher to put the fire out it freezes and wont let us play. Very aggravating sine we just paid to unlock the full version.

We cant understand how anyone plays this game or gets past the fire scene. We get pushed out of the game. We will never pay for another Puppet Show game again!

Very disappointed in this game! We cant get past the hotel room. It crashes when we got to use fire extinguisher. Game is real choppy. Its almost like when BF starting making these games. This game is horrible, pass this one up.

After waiting an entire week for a new game, this release from AMAX Interactive was a huge disappointment. This developer obviously never reads our reviews because they never seem to fix the issues about which we complain. The first problem is with the nature of the game interface; it extends only 60% of the screen, resulting in annoying and unnecessary back tapping to prior locations, out of zoom zones, puzzles and HO scenes. In addition, they cluster the icons for the map, hint, strategy guide, task list and collectibles tab so closely together that you inadvertently open a tab you werent intending to open. This series has been plagued by glitches and this game was no exception. The game shut down on us and lost some of our progress 3 times when we attempted to utilize the fire extinguisher at the beginning of the game. We were finally able to accomplish that task and the game did not malfunction in that manner again. However, there were major touch screen sensitivity issues at play, when trying to utilize or acquire inventory items, and in the HO scenes, while trying to combine items. The storyline was redundant and boring, and the gameplay was mainly linear and simplistic, in addition to the aforementioned issues! It was also apparent that English was not the primary language of the developer. The game was extremely short, inclusive of the bonus adventure. We found no redeeming attributes in this game. We plan on requesting a refund from Apple because this game should not have been released with such poor quality assurance! BigFish, it was very unfair of you to keep us waiting for a new game for an entire week and then reward our patience with this glitchy disaster of a game. Our advice to all players is this: replay some older games that you love, and dont waste your time or money on this dated, boring, technical nightmare of a game!

Doesn’t work! So glitchy and now we’re stuck trying to use the blow torch, which doesn’t work. Now we can’t proceed with the game. So disappointed in BFGs recently.
