What Makes RPG Dragon Lapis Stand Out

The dawn of a new hero!

A thousand years ago, a great battle ensued between two dragons, one gold and the other silver, where they were sealed away. However, the real tale begins many centuries later after the Silver Dragon reawakens, and launches an assault on a frontier village in the far north.

There, a royal knight by the name of Lucas serves as a guard after being relegated to the rural and much isolated location by the King. Yet, little does he know he is, in fact, a descendant of the hero, Alaric, who once sealed the Gold and Silver Dragons in human form. Nonetheless, when tragedy strikes, he soon finds his place, and after teaming up with a band of unlikely companions, sets out on an adventure to save the world.

Community Insight:

Snuggle will make sense when youre at that point in the game.

This is just like the games we remember from our childhood. A basic but well told story with fun characters/classes. Sometimes the dialogue is a bit long but its always interesting.

We grew up on the SNES and Sega Genesis. Our first game was the original Zelda. We remember naming Link before we knew how to spell. We own almost every Final Fantasy. We could list all the games Ive played over the years, but Id be here awhile. This game reminds us of those, but with cute and clever dialogue instead of The traditional regal fantasy youd see in most games like this from the 80s and 90s. The characters, so far, are memorable, even antagonists. The job system makes us long for Final Fantasy 5, our favourite game. You fill out a grid, learn The abilities, repeat. It isnt needlessly tedious or grindy. Everything is super straightforward. The plot, so far, is captivating. Theres so much happening at once, you WANT to pay attention. You WANT to talk to the npcs, just for the dialogue. Cons: stuff isnt expensive, but gathering gold is a bit annoying, especially once you start getting more party members. Getting an ad every time you save is annoying, but way more preferable to in-app purchases (which are nigh non-existent, thank god). Im missing exploring the map and finding loot in urns and bushes or through hidden walls. Getting AP is reasonable, but you progress through the story so fast that its easy to get behind. The missions that pop up at the start of battle, for us, are impossible to complete at times. We give it closer to a 4.5, but Im satisfied enough to go full 5 stars for the review. It brings out our nostalgia while being its own creation with unique mechanics and interesting characters. A must-try if you grew up on old pixel games.

Love little RPG games like this reminds us of dragon quest.

Ffv ish. The story is fun. Very low ads, they trigger when you save. Extremely high quality for a free mobile game.

Really enjoying this game. (Winks at Elodie).

Game has a great mix of comedy, storytelling and rpg style grinding. It has a unique leveling system involving growth plates which after an initial learning curve is quite fun. Our only complaint about the game would be our dislike for forced loss events, though we understand that they are necessary for the story. Mee he he he.

Ive put way too many hours in to this. A fun homage to the 8 bit RPGs.

Really fun game, but there is so much dialogue.

Can you please, for the love of god, change the tap normal and simple to be more effective. We think the only frustration we have we trying to click on the map to go around a town/city/dungeon only for it to map directly in to the dang thing. Just make it map around unless we click directly on the town. Story-great, leveling system-great, plate system-great, just fix the map thing please :P.

Dragon Lapis is an old-school RPG packed with charm, wit, and a battle system that feels comfortably familiar. If youve played classic RPGs before, this one fits right into your collection. Best of all? Its completely free to enjoy. Im five hours in, and there are no forced ads. You can leave the game at any time, and when you return, it picks up exactly where you left off. The only time youll see an ad is when you manually saveplus a small, unobtrusive banner at the bottom of the screen that doesnt interfere with gameplay. Manual saving is recommended if you want to backtrack or secure your progress, but honestly, we played for three hours before even realizing it was an optionlol. There are in-app purchases for unique items, but the premium currency can be slowly earned in-game, and none of it is necessary to enjoy the full experience. Personally, we plan to buy something just to support the devsits rare to find a free game on the App Store that delivers this much with so little intrusion. Bottom line? 5/5. 10/10. 100%. Whatever scale you use, Dragon Lapis is one of the best classic RPG experiences you can getwithout spending a dime. And trust us, Ive been using the App Store since Doodle Jump was new, lol.

Play this game and Melvin will let you sniff his pits.

Reminds us of a classic FF with a twist. Thank you for bringing back the nostalgic feel.

If you are looking for a well balanced old school RPG with fun characters then this is it. It may not blow you away, but it doesnt get old due to said balance between dungeons, story, and leveling up. So we recommend it to anyone who like pixel RPGs.

Hits the nostalgia right where you want it.

Im giving this 5 stars because we love almost everything about it. The only thing that would be a nice add would be to be able to talk to npcs across a table. Everything else is perfect, including melvins stench.

We like this game. Its story is good Its not hard to play.

This is for the dragon lady and the witch. Fun game. Play it. We dont think youll regret it.

Reminds us of early final fantasy style rpgs all free to enjoy. Minimal ads good job.

Great game, poor Melvin – we would definitely snuggle with you.

Fun retro feeling game. Reminds us of childhood RPGs.

Great game just less pop ups of monsters during quest.

They deserve a 5 star just for having the most creative way for asking for a review. Well done.

Ive been waiting to find a game like this on iPhone for the longest time. Finally finding it has brought us a lot of enjoyment and fulfilled a lot of itches other games couldnt scratch.

This game brings back wonderful memories of basic fun turn-based battles. It has amazing customizations, storylines, and fun dialogue.

We found ourselves sucked into it. The prompt for us to write a review was also cute. Great game guys/gals.

This is the first time asking for a review gave you one. Also, Melvin told us to say hello.

Dragon Lapis is a fun old school game.

We love this game. It is very fun and reminds us of some original RPG games we played when we were a kid. The only suggestion we have is when a player levels up, their HP and MP should fill up. We go through a lot of herbs.

Well written dialogs with easy turn based combat.

Great game, the gameplay and dialogue are fantastic. If we had one note it would be that the automatic walking to a selected point can be interrupted very easily.

All the good old stuff, plus some modern tweaks to make it more enjoyable. Play it now.

Great game, we love it and the simplicity of it. People should really be making more games like this.

This game was beautifully made, brings back memories of old school games.

Cut scenes take a lil long. But other than that a great game.

Very fun game! The dialogue is a bit wordy but funny. Pretty easy, even on hard mode (except post-game boss was finally a decent challenge) but still very fun. We did some of the side quests. The game is pretty short so not much time to branch out into other classes, etc. But still really fun.

Pretty good rpg hope to see more from it.

Really liking the old school vibe and turn base dynamic.

Great old school game. Nice relaxing way to kill some time. Still enjoying this game after a few months of on and off playing.

Its a good game so far. The plate system took a bit of getting used to, but we appreciate a unique spin on something that is all too easy to make generic and boring. Im playing in hard mode and that feels about right for us so far.

We almost NEVER pay attention to the story on RPG games like this but this game definitely is unique. We love the fact you can choose what they can say for funny reactions or to be serious depending on how you are feeling and neither option will affect the game differently, they are just there for comedic purposes. The game constantly is throwing jokes in there so it makes it worth the while to pay attention. We wish the movement in the game was a little bit smoother but other then that the game is amazing.

Id have preferred if Melvin had gotten on his knees.

Appreciate that we are given every opportunity to be a horrible little creacher in dialogues we hope there will not be stat caps, if there are ill die a little bit. But we suppose its likely there are. We can only hope.

We really love this game and havent been able to put it down! We love that there arent any ads except the banner at the bottom and we feel like the battle system is so well thought out and original that it keeps us playing. One thing we do have to say is we dont like how we cant skip past the dialog, we love the story but we typically play more for the battles than the dialog so it can be a bit much sometimes.

Game is pretty good had a whole chat with the characters about writing this review lol.

All around great game. It really brings back the nostalgia from when we used to play games like this as a kid, but not EXACTLY like this, you know? Its equal new and exciting and old and familiar. Give it a shot. You will love it. And after Lucas(sorta), Iria, Melvin, and Elodie asked us so nicely, we just had to do it. That was certainly the most astounding, wonderfully integrated, and entertaining way we have ever seen to ask for a review hahaha.

Great game!!! Very engaging characters and very fun battle system.

The progression is very well paced and the characters have soul to them, and dont just feel like Generic rpg character X, which is really impressive.

This games pretty fun. Its a nice old school turn based rpg, we think their growth plate concept is neat and they have some interesting mechanics that are really engaging. Only criticism we have is the lack of equips/items and a lack of loot. You usually end up just looting the same stuff over and over. While we get kemco pumps out rpgs faster than you can say silver dragon, some more unique growth plates and end game items wouldnt do harm.

The only complaint we have are the menus, whether its items or spending EP on class advancement, the menus are a multi-layered, poorly designed and engineered mess with terrible markings and indicators, particularly for a button oriented touch screen interface. Other than that, the game has been great. Seriously, its hard to tell what character Im on or what their current class and level are. We have to go look at other screens then switch back to know if Im adding the right class to the right character. If theres an easier way, its not intuitive and wasnt part of the in game instructions.
