We LOVE this game its so cool and we love the vibes (I might be a little biased since Im obsessed with hotel horror/mysteries) BUT its still rlly cool. We enjoyed getting to know these horrible creatures hehe. And the bat guy was so cute.
We could say this for every rusty lake game but this is amazing Id say we did cheat using the walkthroughs but even with the help this is still an amazing game none the less. We also have to add on that we are very young and even we enjoy these game, we will be recommending this to more of our friends and family,
It took a minute to get the hang of it, but once we did it was a lot of fun. It can be tricky in places, but all puzzles games do that. :) we thought is was hilarious, and sometimes rough to execute (pun intended) the tasks for this game. Absolutely worth the $1 we paid for an evening of creepy, eerie fun. Rusty Lake – please keep them coming! We love your games, and we’ve had nightmares every night after playing them, which Im okay with (my dreams are usually pretty boring). Thank you!
Rusty Lake are the very best set of games we have ever come across. There are imitators out there but nothing compares to Rusty Lake. Would it be that they designed more we would gladly pay for a nights swim in the Lake.
Finding those third ingredients are tricky, second run and we still missed one or two of them. We wished we could go back into the room when we realized we did the deed, but didnt find everything we needed (no spoilers!) Still love the dark, sinister, random logics of all the Rusty Lake games. Keep them coming! Like we’ve mention e in previous reviews (all written today after our second play on a larger iPad); we wish there was a way to go back in for more achievements like in Roots. Thank you!
Our grandpa and grandma showed us this game when we were a 5 ik this game is for 12 and over but we couldnt help myself or it. Even since that day we have been playing by ur games like crazy and we are still in love, tho we have had to restart the games many times we will never get tired of these games. We will hope to continue our love and respect for your guys games and hope to see more in the future!
We really enjoyed this puzzle. It was the best for something to do when we were bored.
Very fun and hard to solve takes a bit but but truly interesting great storyline kind of morbid but hey good game!
This game is very creepy yet so intriguing! It has you complete a backstory with amazing puzzles! How ever we do suggest you be over 10 before playing it.
We are tearing through these amazing games from Rusty Lake. We cant say enough about how much we are loving them. They are beautiful, creepy, just the right amount of challenging, and basically all around incredible!!
Awesomely weird game! All of the Rusty Lake series are so unusual and the artwork is so fitting for the mood of the game! Loveit!

We havent enjoyed most games we’ve tried over the years. We longed for something that transported us to another place, like one of our favorite games of all time, MYST. Rusty Lake Hotel is just awesome!!! There are a few Easter eggs too, so you can play the game more than once.
This game is so fun, and amazing, we cant tell if we lost braincells or gained some.
We love every rusty lake game and this one is really good too its creepy, kind of relaxing, and just really awesome so if you enjoy this game GET ALL THE OTHER RUSTY LAKE GAMES we have them all and they are awesome we know this is only this game Im supposed to be reviewing but all rusty lake games are five stars to us so yeah get them.

Good design! It is hard to find a game that you want to solve the problems ASAP, concentrating on one game is amazing.
Stumbled upon the Rusty lake games this year and we love them! Hopefully theyll be some more it will be hard to find something similar. It is all so well executed.

We are addicted to these games! Never been so satisfied by something that cost this little. We cant tell you how many times we’ve played these games. We’ve played the hotel game at least 20 times! Its so calming and relaxing to work these puzzles out. Most of all the music and voice actors they use just put you in a relaxed state that some time you forget you are playing a game. Absolutely love Rusty Lake and highly recommend you play their games. Amazing story tellers! We will be waiting anxiously for whatever comes next.
We did have to play two times through to get the correct order however we found this to be the perfect level of challenging! There were areas that stumped us but were not impossible to figure out!

Love this game and all rusty lake games. We feel so good when we solve something! The story is the right amount of chills too. Graphics are amazing.
Players are thrusted through the times of day without being able to go back and make sure theyve collected everything they need for the dinners. Really annoying for players who want to get all of the ingredients.
We appreciate the weird atmosphere of this game but also don’t like it to an extent. We don’t play these games to go around murdering "people" (or animals) just for the heck of it. That whole concept bugs us. We like the horror genre, in general, but prefer to be the one solving the crimes/catching the killer and not the one committing them. The game is interesting and challenging though we agree with one reviewer who said they prefer logical puzzles and a good number of these aren’t at all logical. So, in essence, it’s a pretty good game but not one we can recommend due to its skewed perspective.
We cannot for the life of us get the key from his mouth. Im clicking on his head over and over and its just not popping out. We cant go any further in the game without the key. We dont know what Im doing wrong but if this is a bug, Id like to know how to get around it. Im going to try to redo this room but we have a feeling Im going to have to redo the whole game. :(
In some levels, like the second, items are required twice but can only be used once. For example, in the second level, if you use the knife on the hand to get the ring without first getting the white beans, because its not obvious at first sight, then you have to reset the entire game. Part of the fun of the other games is the trial and error. It becomes tedious to have to replay entire levels for the sake of perfect scores.
If you miss a clue and do the rooms out of order it seemed there is no way to recover and get all the stars unless you restart from the beginning, but you added the ability to replay a room. Its confusing, however, when you get an "optional" ingredient and it says its too late. It seems like it ignores the ingredient but it actually adds it to the recipe and appears if you redo that room. You should change that message and flow to show that it is saved and you can use it to redo the room.
We’ve played almost all of them and this is the first one we decided to buy because we needed more Rusty lake in our life. Best escape puzzles we’ve played. Nothing compares to them. That being said, we are disappointed in this one. We paid $1.99 and completed it faster than any of the other ones. It was a bit too easy a very fast game play.
We have played most of the Rusty Lake games and we have loved all of them and that includes this one. The thing is that there is one thing that is starting to REALLY annoy us. Id you want all three stars you need to get all three of the ingredients. That isnt the problem though. The problem is that if you miss something such as the white wine or blueberries you have to restart the WHOLE GAME. We are only on the first game and we’ve had to restart 4 times. At this point it aint even enjoyable having to go through rooms youve already done 3 times. It is a really good game but this problem is infuriating and we wish there was a way to go back to a certain point or even just reset one room and not the whole game.
First night with Mr Deer you need to catch the moth with a glass jar. We know this because we had to lookup a walkthrough after 30 minutes of clicking everything on the screen. (Thats the main problem with this genre of games) No matter how fast we try to be, the moth always flies away the moment we press the window to zoom in on it. This leaves us unable to catch the moth, meaning unable to go any further. Nothing like trying to digress at the end of the day, only to have a small mobile game slightly stress you out.
We love the rusty lake series and we have for years, and while this game has good puzzles it also manages to be our least favorite game in the series. Dont get us wrong, its very fun, but its also incredibly infuriating that if you do things in the wrong order (with no indication of what the right order is) then you lose the possibility of getting all three stars on a recipe. We end up just being frustrated, because we have to restart the whole game just because we forgot one tiny little thingI have Mr Deers room just about memorized because of it. This could easily be fixed by just allowing the replay of the current room, instead of needing to replay the whole game.
Gameplay bugs that make it impossible to progress. In Mr Deers room, unable to capture the butterfly with the glass jar or create rosemary confirmed it with a walkthrough online. Hopefully the game will work eventually.
If you dont play the clues in the exact order, you cant back out, so you have to reset the entire game. Boooo!
Yes people love challenging games but your puzzles at times were to extreme to figure out. Why not have any of the characters talk like the last one could. We definitely think this game could be improved and become a great game. We liked the murder aspect of the game but to many puzzles made it longer than needed.
We cant get past the water bottle Levels puzzle. No matter how much we study the walkthrough. We hate that type of puzzle. Waste of money. Rusty Lake is usually so good. Annoying.
We love the other games in the series but this game is frustrating to no end. Theres no option to reset a room if you miss an ingredient (pigeon – blackberry, which we only found through a walkthrough because you cant undo a move and have to start the whole thing over when you miss). Some of the newer responses to the same complaint says that the option is now available but Im not seeing it.

Updated Review: They released an updated version where they allow you to replay each room. (Yay!) we also realized that we neglected to talk about literally anything else about this game, and we wanted to take this opportunity to do so because we really do think it deserves 5 stars! The Rusty Lake series is awesome. There’s no better word for it. It’s creepy, interesting, unique, and the art/design… It is all awesome. Since our OP we have finished all of the games (including all Cube Escape games) and we highly recommend every single one, especially now that this one has been updated. The puzzles can be really hard, but if you take your time (and maybe have a pen and paper handy) you will definitely get to feel the sweet, sweet feeling of solving puzzles. Thank you devs!!! We’re pleased to know our fellow slow puzzle solvers will have a chance haha. _____ Original Review: we would give this game five stars if it weren’t for the fact that (spoilers) if you miss the "optional" ingredient you cannot reset the individual levels. What this means is that you have to replay the entire game every time you go too far in the level just to get one ingredient. Because it is optional, it may not seem like a big deal. But that means that you have one leas puzzle to solve if you just let it go and don’t grab it. We want go be able to do all the puzzles, especially since we paid for this game. Please, let us reset per room. Otherwise, we have to cheat and look at a walkthrough for the optional ingredient before we get to do each level just so we don’t have to replay the entire game after each room. We’re starting to not want to play this anymore because we’ve had to reset the entire game three times now. We feel like we’ve made no progress and we also feel dumb because we basically didn’t get enough time to explore the rooms at our own pace.

We love all the Rusty Lake games, and this was no exception. The graphics, the storyline, the eerie and macabre feelthese are all amazing. However, there are no opportunities to restart just the level, so if you make an irreversible mistake you will have to redo the entire game. In conclusion, Rusty Lake Hotel can be frustrating and annoying at times, but it is far from a waste of your money.
