We learned about this game on Lost and downloaded this app to learn to rules before we invested in an actual board. We’ve never played backgammon, so we were clueless. For such a simple concept, the strategy of the game is great fun. We recommend this app to anyone curious about Senet or That game on Lost.
A lot of the games functionality has been removed and the ads also cause the game to essentially freeze forcing a restart of the app. We just played a game and after the game an ad automatically appeared. After the ad ran, the screen was stuck on the ad with no way to X out of the ad. This was a fun app but it seems like its now time to download a different version of Senet app.
We happily paid for the game. We happily played the game for a few weeks, then it started showing ads. We realise developers have to eat, but introducing ads into a paid game is bad form.
(UPDATED rating to 5 stars :) bcus the random player dice roll is somehow no longer giving insanely unfair rolls to our opponent such as 55544113! Etc these unfair rolls lasted every day all day ever since we downloaded this app like over a week ago)To the dev.. Please play Senet against random player and see what happens do the same for UR too before saying its random. We’ve played the game many times in real life and these stick rolls arent realistic at all. Getting 4 4s and 2 5s in a row multiple times in the game is not fair especially when we just get 2s 3s, and the occasional two 1s in a row which is always followed by a 2 after lol. Senet and the game of UR are really fun & we love the different board choices! We do wish it wouldnt take as long to reach a new level though making it extremely hard to get new boards since you hardly get any XP after each game. CON #1: the random player games where youre supposedly playing against another human is rigged for both Senet & Ur. We have played this app enough times to even be able predict what the other players next moves are on both random player and while playing the bot. It would be nice if the dev switched up the playing pattern of the bot so that each game isnt so predictable. When playing Senet w/ a random player, we have seen them roll Three 5s, one 4, and three 1s all on the same turn! This is not random! It happens multiple times throughout the game. If we have their pawn blocked by 4 of our, best believe theyll coincidentally roll a 5 on the first try once they need to move that piece.. Then to make it worse they roll multiple 4s after then finally their turn is over. The random player constantly wins even if we only have 1 pawn on the board and they have 5. We never win against random player even though Im able to predict their next moves spot on! Random player always plays the same and the bot plays the same but both different from one another. We win on the bot game (the bot that we choose to play against) often enough but the dice on the bot games are fixed too with highly highly unlikely roll sequences. Mind you, as theyre rolling multiple 5s 4s and 1s, we only roll 2s and sometimes 1s. Theres plenty games we dont roll a 5 but theres never a game that the other player doesnt rolls a 5. We’ve even set the dice to normalize but still the same. CON #2: It was obvious before we even downloaded the game though that we wouldnt actually be playing against real people because theres obviously not very many people that play this particular app & # of downloads especially compared to active users (small dev). Theres no way that enough people will be playing at once on an all this small to the point where we can get matched with them especially getting matched at any point of the day. We literally play this game all throughout the day since Im quarantining lol. CON #3: the game play of the bot/random player is always the same. Literally we predict which pieces theyre gonna move next. The only random dice roll for Senet is on another Senet app that we downloaded. Only thing we dont like about their app is that its too easy because their bot doesnt make the smartest choices even on the hard level. The gameplay is always random/unpredictable though and the dice rolls are always random but also somewhat balanced. If the bot on that app rolls multiple 4s in a row, it doesnt bother us bcus that app actually gives us multiples in a row the same game as well. This app on the other hand has fixed dice whether you select random or normal or not. Random aint random and normal aint normal. These other players are not people simply because there arent enough ppl playing the app for the dev to be able to match make. They are making the same exact moves every time no matter the person. Idk what the point is though bcus its not like were gambling where the house always win. All in all, we love your game!! And we love the board choices! We thought it was really cool and unique that you made it so its like were playing against King Tut etc but Please please please undo the fixed dice coding and make it so we gain more XP after games to advance levels faster so new boards are actually obtainable. We cant get the campaign boards because we cant beat random player despite being able to predict its moves! Even if we have 1 piece left it ALWAYS beats us when it has multiple pieces left which happens in real games too but not every single last time smh. We dont care about losing as long as its fair. Waiting around for our turn while the bot/other player has such long turns as its rolling 555443 is annoying and boring. Thanks for listening.

It was a great game before the latest update. Unfortunately most of the features no longer work. PvP random games and playing against friends no longer work. If you want to play against the computer, it should work though. If the problems get fixed, Ill update our rating.
Before we put money into the game we were doing fairly well once we put money and we have not won a single game and we think thats a little odd.
If you land on a space and switch your piece out with your opponent pharaoh, they will immediately roll the same number of spaces to switch their piece back. Also, if youre ahead near the end of the board, they will magically roll 5s and 4s to catch up while you roll every number but the one you need. We’ve been in this scenario a handful of times already where we had one piece about to win, and the pharaoh had 2 pieces way back near the beginning of the boardand then, what a surprise, they caught up, and the game forced us into the water hazard (I couldnt skip our turn because it obviously wanted us to lose), and the pharaoh won. Its absolutely rigged, which is a shame, because Senet is so much fun to play. We hope the developers make the opponents moves more arbitrary and not so obviously attuned to them winning against all odds.
The algorithm alone is enough of a reason to never play this again. It cannot be statistically correct when we can continuously predict what the computer will do. The designer of thus game has already said our claims are false but anyone who plays this with more than 100 IQ can call that bull.
The computer got 5 six times in a row we cant win once and when it finds out Im probably gonna beat teh bot we gave us ones 5 times in the row and when we needed one more one it gave us a five.
We love this game and the music, it just kinda ruins the fun when you lose almost every game. The sticks almost always throw in favor of the computer. We wont uninstall or quit though, it is fun. Also, we wish the feature to play with another person would work. Our husband downloaded to play with us, but typing in the game ID to start a game doesnt work on both ends. Well stay for the updates!

Very well designed. We were not expecting this level of polish. The challenges are a really cool addition. We really wish it had a tutorial though. We saw the game being played on Chilling Adventures of Sabrina last night and remembered it from our childhood history/mythology stage and thought theres gotta be an app for that, right? Kinda disappointed because we have to google how to play now, but that wont stop us. We already downloaded all your other games. Keep doing what you do brother. We wanna see all the history you bring to life.
Playing against computer or rando online works beautifully. Playing locally or against a friend online is buggy, but the developer is working on a fix.
We love Senet and have always wanted to play a digital version with an authentic feel… Congrats to you on the detail and game play! We dont seem to have long to wait to throw either… As some seem to. We would love to get other style pawns from crates… We only get boards or coins right now, but this is just us wanting new pawns to mix n match with boards, nothing related to gameplay… Cant wait for your hounds n jackals to be ready!
You need to make things less coins and stars although we are a level two we still think you need to change some stuff and also so fun!!!
We remember seeing one of these boards in a museum when we were a kid. Now we finally get to play this game and Im really enjoying it.

We absolutely love this game, we learned about it after being curious what the oldest game is and Senet would be it, we wanted to try it out but most apps cost money where as this one is free, but it looks great and plays great! We tried the multiplayer (thatll be in an update) and it worked amazing too! (Played with our Grandma) we’ve had no glitches whatsoever or any problems, the graphics are good and the boards you get from winning are cool, honestly for a free game its solid, and when we checked the how to play it matched with the original! This is a very authentic and enjoyable experience and we plan to check out other apps by this author! If youre looking for a simple but good digital board game to play, this is for you! We are honestly impressed with how well this game is made for being free. We also got in contact with the developer when we couldnt get the multiplayer to work, which he informed us would be in the next update but would manually do so for us, and he was very kind and very helpful! 100% we recommended this app. Great game, Im impressed.

We downloaded the game not long ago and we’ve been enjoying it alot. Theres an issue with adding friends but with an email to the developer the problem was solved. He replied fast, was very helpful and kind.
Our girlfriend and we are getting into Ancient Egyptian culture and been wanting to play Senet for awhile. This app made it very easy to learn the rules of the game. Now we cant stop playing. You can add friends and play with them or against the computer. The developer is very helpful and responds quickly to questions about the app. All in all, we love this game and will be playing a lot.

It can be addicting. We compare it to almost backgammon.
You can literally predict how youre going to get your pieces sent back spaces to the point its predictable. We understand a game leaning toward the house otherwise it wouldnt be challenging but when every single game either has you beat from the first 10 moves its a little ridiculous.
After a while you cannot get a d the computer wins every game. Not worth it. Deleted.
Myself? Strict historicist. Im in our mid 60s, and made our first SNT and Royal Game of Ur boards when we were in our teens (and still have them): they were as close as we could come to reproducing the originals. Mostly, we played the games against myself, as there werent too many other folks interested. The arrival of good computerized versions was a Godsend. In terms of historicity of game board, pieces, and feel… This is by far the best yet. Congratulations! The play is excellent as well (my only quibble being the rather long wait to throw the dice, which is not adjustable, as is the speed of the movement of pieces). But for an old history freak like myself, all the Gamer-geek paraphernalia built in (campaigns, loot boxes, quests, and on and on) seems like its from another universe. It is, rather. We can understand trying to appeal to a [much] larger potential market… But for those of us for whom this is a distraction at best… Id pay to make it go away, and just have the board(s) of our choice and the good gameplay. Excellent work, and someones done their homework.
Just heard about this game today. Its a lot of fun. You can play real people or the computer on the app. Ill be checking out the developers other games. We just wish there was a way to communicate with the other players even if just to say, Good game.

We have played Senet with a real board, but often we find legal moves can’t be done. Sometimes the game says "You can’t do that" when it’s a clearly illegal move, but often we try to legally move a piece and nothing appears. This only happens on the last row. The Egyptian ambience is nice but we can’t recommend without a bug fix. Edit: Thanks for dev response. We now believe the issue is the rules of Senet in this app are different than the rules we learned in our board. To be fair, resurrecting an ancient game involves a bit of guesswork so we don’t view either interpretation as right or wrong. Regardless, we no longer believe there are any bugs, so we’re updating to 5-stars.

We were at the Smithsonian museum and stumbled across this game and tried to find it on the App Store and we found this underrated game that has no development flaws. 5 star for us!
