Community Insight:
Ive been playing this game for years and it still isnt old. We dont know of another game that provides this kind of enduring fun. The iPad version works well for us with no bugs.
Works great. No issues. Play a few hours every day. No issues.
Its annoying to play on phone vs PC initially but eventually the time melting one more turn dynamic takes over and you forget about the annoyance completely. We suggest tweaking the settings to confirm moves as well as attacks because it makes it less frustrating. Would be cool if there was multiplayer other than local but its a mobile game so Im alright with it.
Its a good game overall, it has its flaws sure, but, theres no other game quite like it and when you just want to kill some time, this is the game for you.
Would be much appreciated if we could use backbone on iOS version instead of ps remote play.
Please add Controller we love this game.
Like we said, it would be a great game if it wasnt for the low framerate on mobile. Im sure on iPad it runs very well. But we mean its a great game nonetheless. There needs to be a graphic setting for phones so we can adjust it, like on PC. Increasing the scale of the hud would be nice. Also when holding down a resource to read what you need to research, that it stays on screen until we move the screen or touch some where else. Music is great. 10/10 game.
We love this build an empire and take over the world. For it was Too addictive. Had to delete. We enjoyably lost years of our life and sleep. With insufficient sleep we make poor decisions. Im 58 days sober from this game. We know CIV VII just came out and Im not looking at it. The game is calling.
We dont know why people are giving us this game such low rating.
Say what you will about not comparing to pc version, this runs surprisingly well on a tablet we already own on our lap. As long as there is space, its just download and play. We are a Civ fan since the first (including civrev) and we love the accessibility. Cant always take your computer places, but you can sure take your ipad.
Great except it freeze and the screen turns blue any time there is a battle where the city has to attack an opponent. Been an issue for years now. Dont waste your money.
Our mom and we for years have enjoyed playing your games. We have played a lot of the games including pirates. But we have to break out the old computer and disc to be able to play it. But lately it stopped working. We were hoping that you could make pirates mobile.
We can not believe how far this game has come from when you could only fight.
You probably need a pro max but they managed to successfully get the same Civ6 we know and love to work on a cell phone with a few minor navigation tweaks. Was not that many years ago it wouldnt have been possible. Way to go.
We like the game development. We will get civ 7.
For real strategy players, Civilization is the game that proves shows the meaning of foward thinking on each desition. Fan since the first Civ (late 90's), we've bought and play every edition that came out, now adapted to iPad, we're satisty with the depth and graphic. Highly recommended.
We have played this game for many hours. A couple years ago it was more buggy but that has improved a lot. They continued to update it. We also bought the DLC which has worked better than expected. We cannot recommend this game enough.
See this game is the best idc what people say and why they put 3 or 2 or even 1 stars ther dum if they put that.
Love it on our iPad. Awesome port. Im only surprised that it still crashes sometimes, after so many years.
Civ sometimes glitches but that doesnt mean its bad.we play the game a lot and it always manages to make the time go faster.
Ive been playing Civ for decades. When the game was released on iPad, we couldnt believe it. We bought it immediately. We even opted to upgrade our iPad just to play the game. It is incredibly addictive. We love the many strands and directions that you can take with your country. But the game has become too easy, even on deity. Ive been challenging ourselves by playing to win on deity before the renaissance era, or to get a bomber unit before the renaissance era starts and, unfortunately, we did both without much trouble. The last game we played on deity and had a bomber by mid medieval era, annihilating the remaining civs in the remaining turns before even reaching the renaissance. Im writing now this review as kind of a farewell to this game that we cannot get anything else out of. It crashes here and there, but we always would load up an auto save and resume playing – no big problems like in other reviews. Expensive? Yes. But Id pay it again for the hundreds of hours we spent exploring new maps, new tactics. Whats sad, is that lying, betraying other civs is really the key to winning. There should be more notable repercussions for unlawful behavior by your civ leader. And Im surprised that internal civilization struggles are not really meaningful. We could go an entire game neglecting to feed our people, neglecting their happiness and just pumping out units and still win by aggressively taking over more advanced civs. Computer tactics also have a limit – and these are weaknesses you can exploit. We remember civ2 had quite a realistic feel in some sense, despite the 90s graphics. With this review, Im saying thank you to everyone who helped develop and make this game. If asked if we wasted our life on this game – Id say no, we enjoyed every minute of it. To all who are complaining in the comments – we couldnt find a singe game on the iPad that would even stand close to civ6. Mobile games dont have nearly as much beauty, layers and depth that civ6 has. Goodbye Civ. We enjoyed you, but its over now. Theres nothing new for us to do here. We may sound sad, but you were a great friend in depressing times.
This game is great, we have always been a history fan so its the perfect game for us although we do have one suggestion, try to add something like a sandbox mode, a mode in which the waiting time on everything is reduced to zero and you have unlimited resources, basically a god mode but only for single player (otherwise it would be chaos) and only for the players nation, the npc stay normal.
Fantastic port of a desktop strategy game.
We bought all the expansions, was very expensive, not sure if its worth it, but the game runs flawless so 5 stars.
We cant believe they were able to create a fully functioning iPad version of this game with all of the features of the PC version. This is our favorite game ever. Highly recommend. Addicting turn based strategy game, starting as an ancient tribe and expanding civilization, technology, and culture to become a world leader or conqueror. Enjoy.
Love civilization 5 and 6 on the PC. This game is perfect for those long flights.
Good strategy game, but better on PC. Mobile version is good for players who travel, find themselves in areas with little to no internet connectivity, etc. Recommended to play with AI emperor and up for a challenge and prince (default) for beginners.
To clarify a point we have read in many reviews, we play this game on a IPad 12.9 with the M4 chip to on our MacBook Pro 16 with M1 chip. The gameplay on these devices is flawless. Super fun and very complex with so much to do. So far we have only been able to beat the Prince game mode. Very addictive which is exactly what you want in a strategy game.
After figuring out that our phone cant handle some of the bigger maps (duh) the mobile version got us through many long car/train rides and flights. (Really, anywhere we do not have desktop access!) As someone who comes from the Civ Rev days on the iPod Touch we truly cant believe youve been able to fit this full game in mobile format. Cant wait to see what Civ 7 brings to the table.
We love playing this game since we not near a console or PC most of the time.
Tablet play is the best way to play civ. Its leagues better than playing on the pc or console.
Lots of people are complaining about the port, but in our 20+ hours of playing we rarely had any crashes. This is so worth it for a fraction of the full games price. Maybe dont buy on an older phone/ipad.
Hello all again (9-1-24),the game continues to work great on the iPad Pro 3rd generation. It is wonderful and looking for a CIV 7 experience on the iPad. Thought Id chime in again because we tire of reading the negative and money grab comments and let you know that you have done a great job and we really appreciate the ongoing support and updates. Thanks for the latest update!!! Thanks for the Frontier pack! Works pretty good for us. Hello again, what a marvelous game. We couldnt be happier! ____ Just dropping back in to say THANKS for Gathering Storm! It works wonderfully well on the iPadPro! Thanks for Rise and Fall. You guys are the best! Not having any issues with Great people or anything else. Using the original iPad Pro. Looking forward to additional content. Most mods continue to work like a charm with a little effort. Hello all, it appears that some folks writing reviews do not fully appreciate or understand how the game is played… Shame on you for your low ratings as they are totally unsubstantiated. This is a great game with great support. It works just like the Desktop/Laptop version but with the graphics toned down just a bit. Yes turns can take longer, but on a standard size map it might even be a bit faster than on our PC, although it is likely older than what some of you have. Ive been playing on a 12.9 original iPad since it came out and the only issues Ive had were with a couple of mods. Developers, with your next update could you possibly have as a game option, a setting to turn on the ui scale 1 option so we dont have to turn on our Bluetooth keyboard for that every time? Looking forward to R&F.
This is just great we mean it is so good likeI it.
Please upgrade the game's graphics and the ability to move the game's leaders for the iPad Pro M4. Thx.
Latest IPad Pro with all the DLC no issues great port. Unlimited fun.
We have played civ 6 on multiple different platforms and this one is one of our favorites. It works well with the touch screen and runs well. This game may cost a lot but it is worth it. The only bad thing is that it can chew through battery pretty quick.
Never had issues. Play it all the time on iPad. Works great.
We just got the Backbone and we were so hyped to play all our Xbox games but then Im playing Civ six man you know six for our phone on iPhone controller controller you have a bigger fan mobile for civilization six then you know trust us. Itll be probably a big investment but worth it along way we promise.
Dear devs we were struck by the abnormal exit error as many else were, we were pleased to launch the game and see we could load but was shocked by a pop up to unlock the game for 10 dollars:( great game, decent port, sadness Love Braeden.
PLEASE MAKE THE DLC CHEAPER!! $29.99 for an add on to a mobile game is steep. We got rise and fall and gathering storm add ons on the Xbox version for half the price of just one of them on our iPhone. You will have a customer for sure when pricing is more reasonable, because those add ons are definitely great! Still a 5 star rating for one of the best strategy games of all time.
Please provide controller usability for civilization six.
Update – abnormal exit bug fixed. Well done. Thank you. Game works great. We love it. Changed to 5 stars. Original was 1 star. We revised our review.
We started playing it in a club at our school and we loved it, so we decided to download it on our iPadIT WAS THE BEST THING we HAVE EVER DONE!! Do recommend.
Thanks to the developers for fixing the bugs. So happy to play again.
Game works again after patch applied. Thank you.
Moving our rating to 5 stars. If possible please work on the load times when loading from a saved game. We love the voice of the narrator, is it Sean Bean?, but we dont need it every time we. Load a game and wait 4-5 minutes. Much thanks to the dev team who identified and fixed the bug. We look forward to your next creations for Civ 7 and beyond. Thank you for your hard work.
So, Ive been play Civ6 on PC for along time. We actually didnt know an iOS version even existed until yesterday lol. Seeing some of the past reviews, and comparing to some of the most recent ones saying they fixed issues, we were a bit hesitant. We do have to admit we are beyond so happy with this product. It has worked flawlessly on both our iPhone and iPad and the ability to play anywhere without lugging around our laptop is amazing. The ONLY thing we wish for is cloud saving, but honestly at this point its not even a worry.
Thankfully aspyr finally fixed the abnormal exit bug. We can once again enjoy our life with civ on mobile.
